    • @philwill0123
      @philwill0123 2 года назад +2

      It's because the chapelle character in the show is almost meta. He would himself in 50s be called nword out of spite. The white cast (in a TV show) and reality are only called it as a name and its treated with respectfully "these are the n***ars that we like". As a black cast member/character, its like he's realised a hack in the game, where he can call these white cast members the nword with impunity and with as much distain that he wouldn't be able to in the real world. It's cathartic. This is why in restaurant scene he's saying "the racism is killing me".
      He's playing a 50s black character, and the only one who aware how racist the show is because the white 50s cast are playing it ignorant and unaware.
      The moment of how great the sketch is, is when GFs dad hears she's dating the ni@@ar from school, but is happy it's a white guy with the surname.
      That's when you see, to white people, nword has only offensive connotations when person is black. When they are white, it's just a name....

    • @rnw2739
      @rnw2739 Год назад +1

      Just backs up the truth that the N-word is not the problem, it's about controlling what others say. The pretence at how insulted and offended they are at the utterance of a word from a white person's mouth and then the same word is hilarious from a black person's mouth... yeah, if the word was truly offensive it wouldn't matter who said it.
      It's all bollocks and just a control thing.

Racism has resurfaced in the nation because our leaders have made it ok to promote racist ideologies & thought patterns. Sketches like this were part of the reasons Chappelle walked away from the show. At first it was cutting edge satirical racial comedy but eventually he started to feel like the show was attracting the wrong kinds of people who were tuning in simply to laugh at the racist language. The harm started to outweigh the good intentions behind the comedy.

    • @philwill0123
      @philwill0123 2 года назад

      This. Ironically it's still attracting the wrong people. Same people in the comments doing the "world has gone soft" "he would be cancelled now" "he's an equal opportunity offender, everyone takes too much offence". Not getting that it's pointing out the double standards of society and the use of the nword and how its applied.
      Instead it's idiots here saying "let's go back to 2005 when you could say n!@@$r and not be cancelled".
      The beauty of this sketch is it's multilayered. Chapelles character could be a 50s black actor playing a milkman in a TV show or an actual milkman in suburbia, and the absurdity he experiences would be no different.

      …. Nonsense. Dave, himself, is proof to this. The truth is, comedy is at an all time high point. We’ve never seen so many successful “edgy” comics , as we do now. They’re more opportunities & platforms than there’s ever been. And, everyone’s getting rich, with or without the major deals. Comedians are our front pushing the idea of out of control censorship because it’s benefits them professionally, in more ways than one. No one’s been censored & no one’s actually been canceled. There will always be a small portion of the population who’ll come out against certain comedians & their material. And, they’re not always wrong. Society is supposed to evolve.

    Nobody wants to say this, but……… The success of this show & Dave’s career since, is actually proof that comedy was never in any real danger. Business is better than ever, especially for the edgiest comedians. They promote an idea of society becoming hypersensitive out of self interest. It very beneficial to the profession, ….meaning financially. It’s not in their best interest to admit how good things actually are in comedy. All one has to do is look around. Opportunities are everywhere, different platform options are now available & the diversity of comedians is growing everyday. Dave Chappelle will go down as one of the greats, which is well deserved. But, he’s still extremely loyal to the club. It’s kind funny. Dave has already claimed to be the victim of canceling, TWICE. And yet, he’s dropped numerous award winning specials, as part of another major deal. That’s literally, the opposite of being canceled. Today, he’s treated as a God. Go figure. So, he’ll continue to push the same BS narratives in unison with the rest of the Brotherhood of Comedians. And they’ll keep on doing it as long as people are so willing to believe …..
    For me personally, I feel as if he’s telling less jokes, which of course translates to being less funny. Hopefully that pattern will change….

  • @leebassa1545

    A lot of people and groups have been trying to cancel Dave. That’s why he stopped doing his show and dropped out of the public eye for a while. My thing is, everybody knows who Dave is and what he does, so I don’t care what color you are or what group you belong to, he’s going to roast everyone and if you don’t like it don’t watch his stuff! Dave Chapelle is the funniest comedian out there!

      They only been trying to cancel him recently cause of his standup ; not because of his Skitshow

    • @maxacorn
      @maxacorn 2 года назад +2

      @@Makaveli13Xroy actually, it stems from dave feeling like he wasn't in control of his show. and he was right. we learned a while ago that CC offered him the show but he didn't own it. but he was young, a new father and he needed the money. between that and the "pixie sketch", dave had to get away. so he turned down millions of dollars with his new contract because he felt like he'd be a slave to the networks.
      and now, he's at a point in his life where he's uncancelable. so he's "cancelled" on twitter. so what? he'll go back to his farm and smoke weed and work when he wants to.

    • @micahatkins5286
      @micahatkins5286 2 года назад +2

      Actually Dave quit his show because he felt like his comedy was heading in the wrong direction. He felt everybody was laughing with him in the beginning. But, once the producers started to push for more stereotypical characters & racial content, he began to have second thoughts. So, it turns out that even Dave knows there’s limits in comedy.

    Imagine it in the 60’s? They kind of did this in the 70’s with Archie Bunker in the sitcom “All in the Family”. He was a white bigot that hated everyone else. Then they did a flip side spin-off with his black neighbor George Jefferson in “The Jefferson’s”. He hated everybody that wasn’t black. There were sooo many slurs in both shows. They were both very popular and ran for seasons.
