The colors of the Lumix S5ii x are way better in my opinion.
They both have great uniqueness but I like Lumix better too
If Sony and canon had a baby. It would look like the LUMIX. I had both. Nice middle ground.
That is the best metaphor!
I agree 100% lol
Great video 🎉
Thank you 😁
love this video
thank you !!
why not combination lumix x canon lens
i already tried it , using sigma adapter l mount to ef lense Af really good
Great option!
Thanks for suggesting, I will try it!
I just got this setup too. Insane 🔥
good comparison! do you remember what AF settings were used on the S5II @13:53 ?
I guess it was max
I have aS5IIX...and it´s a 6k sensor. So actually 6k it´s of course better than 4k, and it´s 4k it´s downsampled from 6k...so...perhaps this video it´s not as accurate as could be, he he. But somethigis true: both are great cameras. Just S5IIX has a lot of functions and every single button it´s customizable.
True.
With that said, S5IIX is better in video
@@KenseiAkatsu Yup. It is
I like the colors better on Canon but there's no denying the IBIS is just unstoppable on Panasonic.
I like how Canon shoots skintone!
And yeah Panasonic is just on fire about that
I don’t know if it’s a RUclips compression issue (I haven’t download the files yet), but in the lowlight comparison the Canon side, on 640 ISO has pretty severe macroblocking, and falls apart pretty quickly when ISO starts going up. I’m perplexed, because the S5 side seems to be much more usable in all conditions. And the same with some shots on the porch, where the highlights rolloff on the Canon is simply abysmal.
I’ll check the files soon and see for myself.
After some tests I can say that the macro blocking is totally absent on the file, and even using RUclips on the PC; just a TV issue, a suppose. Still, I can see Canon preference is to give an edge on skintones but it's pretty yellowish as soon as the lights goes down. The Panasonic is more natural looking in low light. Noise is pretty much comparable, the Canon is a little bit smoother, but also darker and less detailed and maneuverable (Pana is easy to match to Canon colors, less easy is the opposite). It goes down to personal choice, not a clear winner, for me.
Wondering was the dynamic range in log near similar as it’s not mentioned?!
Upto 30 fps, the S5IIX has a whole stop advantage in DR. At 4k 60fps, they're about the same as the S5IIX needs to crop in to APSC. Canon is limited by CLog3 as the DR in photography is quite close to the S5IIx.
Good video but sounds like you missed a few big video features on the S5iix like Open Gate, recording to SSD, ProRes, Proxy recording, Frame-io integration, shutter angle, timelapse
Thank you so much for mentioning those!!
Canon lenses are super expensive compared to others in the competition.
It especially feels that way if you compare with third party options for e.g. Sony.
But if you compare e.g., Canon RF 50mm f1.2 on BH with Sony 50mm f1.2 on the same website, they both actually cost the same ($2000).
With that said, the Sony lens is newer so it might go down slighty in price as time passes (to like $1800).
@@TerraThink Sony 50mm 1.2 is a fair bit lighter, less CA and sharper with smoother transitional bokeh compared to the canon - you're getting more quality for the price compared to the canon RF 50mm 1.2
Yeah, no third party lenses = no Canon for me!
@@TerraThink, don't forget about Sigma 50mm f/1.2 for E and L mounts. It cost $1.4k
@@infantfrontender6131 Yes, Sigma is always cheaper (Tamron too). But a lot of people are a bit mistrusting of 3rd party lenses.
So they prefer to pay double to get native glass.
Otherwise Sony probably wouldn't be selling any lenses themselves :p Just bodies for Sigma & Tamron lenses.
Awesome comparison brother. Panasonic has definitely checked all of the boxes for me and made me leave the canon system. That doesn't mean Canon doesn't still hold a place in my heart. LOL!!! If Canon starts to offer more in their hybrid cameras like lumix does, and not try to drain accounts, then I might consider adding them back into my life. Until then Lumix has a major advantage especially for what I do when it comes to documentary/music video work in multiple environments.
The First Take: Kensei Akatsu 😎😎😎
Waiting for you to comment about it lol 😂😂😂
Any camera but a Nikon is outstanding in 2024 😅. Sony, Canon, and now Panasonic best autofocus of 2024.
I gotta check it out!!
Goodluck buying 😂 cf express card for Nikon
Video is becoming more popular than photography because you can extract photos from a video but not the other way around. Photography will never die though. Canon needs to catch up and respect their amature users a bit more.
@@snowwalker9999 Canon needs to catch up how?
They recently released two so called hybrid lenses that are way more video focused than they ever had before.
RF 24-105mm f2.8 & RF 35mm f1.4
And this is seemingly just the beginning.
Rumor has it that two more such hybrid f1.4 primes are coming this year (likely 24mm & 50mm).
@@TerraThink we were talking about sensors and camera feature not lenses. No needed to take it personally. Everybody knows Canon makes the best lenses.
@@snowwalker9999 I do have a Canon, but I've looked into switching to Sony, and I've previously been fond of Panasonic (MFT sensor).
It doesn't matter to me if you like Canon or not.
And I'm not sure if they always make the best lenses. Sony, Tamron etc. have released some great glass in later years (Sony 24-70 f2.8 II, Sony 70-200 f2.8 II, Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 for instance, and I'm very curious about the rumored Sony 85mm f1.4 II).
I was just wondering in what way you thought they needed to catch up? :)
What sensor tech/camera features do you see a lack of in Canon's lineup?
The s5iix is amazing, however, there’s a lot of reports that lumix s line lenses have poor QA, and suffer from glue or whatever separation which causing noticeable bubbles inside the lens. I checked my 50 1.8 and I can see thick layer of separation around the glass, I don’t know if it will degrade more and how is that affects the image. But it’s very very disappointing and worrying. I hesitate if to invest in this system or get rid while I still do not have a big park of lenses. What a shame!
Oh really?
I didn't know there was that issue. I gotta check mine.
@@KenseiAkatsu It's quite hard to notice at first even if you have it. I was using a flashlight and inspecting it under daylight same time, but when you see it, it's obvious, thick round layer around the edges somewhere inside. UPDATE: looked at my 20-60, and there's oil spots just behind the front glass around the plastic/metal ring of the zoom element. I'm quite honestly shocked. I've never seen anything like this even in my 50+ years old glass... if they don't fix these production lines, it will be the end of lumix.....
@@KenseiAkatsu Nah...
I have 24/35/50/85 of lumix primes about 2-3 years and don't see the problem you are talking in any of the lenses.
If you are worried about LUMIX lenses, just buy Sigma 🤷🏻♂️
But wait…Which one motivates your sensibilities…?
I see you are one of KA family 😎
...S5IIX for me
Does anyone have a preference when it comes to photos? I want a S5IIX for the video, but I think I might like the R6 II more for photos. And I do both…
S5IIX... overall
@@KenseiAkatsu Thanks for the feedback!
Can we get FX30 vs R6II
and Also FX30 vs S5IIX?
It will be more fun, Apsc vs Full Frame with similar price point. 😁👀
I did S5II vs FX30 before, so check it out!!
R6II vs FX30? Interesting...
@@KenseiAkatsu yeah i saw this video, S5II vs Fx30 and this video was amazing. 🔥
But S5IIX is newer version.
And price is too close.
So most people can get new information from you.😊❤️
@@KenseiAkatsu Come on, R6 will humiliate fx30, it is better in everything. fx30 - is a bad joke
so this is a comparison in video????
Mainly yeah
Canon r8 please!!!!!!
👍
for me Canon is better in every aspect its even not close in skintone and contrast aspect, BUT this big "but" stabilisation is on the whooooole different league and this is so important! because gimbals are mess... but if with gimbal canon is way better
Canon is great with handling skintones, but one thing many Canon users that I know complained about (with the 5D, to be sincere) is how, in lowlight, everything is just yellow. I hope the R mirrorless series doesn’t have the same issue.
@@fedzciulla I use r6 from release, don't see this problem
@@Promikes Good to know, but still, I want to see how the results are in harsh environments like tungsten lowlight situations.
I'm messing a bit with the files and I must say that the R6 is quite good. It all goes to personal preferences, speaking of color science
I can't take anything less than the R5 seriously. Canons R series of cameras are a joke video wise
Now you made me wanna try it
That's not even a question, until Canon stops treating its customers like garbage and allows third-party lenses. 😂😂 But anyway it's interesting to watch this video.
They recently started allowing third party for APS-C.
Hope it's just a matter of time for full frame lenses as well.
dont care...the aftersale service of canon rated no 1 and the colours are amazing,
Why do everybody need shitty third party lenses? You have 300 lenses for Canon made by Canon. Not enough?
