Most people know and like "Don't Fear The Reaper" but overlook their masterpiece "I Love The Night" which is haunting and beautiful. Hope you give it a try!
So is "The Last Days Of May" - live is best - ruclips.net/video/iRvqHwfnTMg/видео.html
Great song!!
Definitely my favorite
@@williamosborne6866 Yes! That version is my favourite, it's just perfection all the way through.
100% agree, "I love the night" is one of my favorite songs. It is hauntingly beautiful.
Pretty much the entire band doubles. Eric Bloom, the lead vocalist here also plays guitar, keys, and drums. Allen Lanier, the keyboardist also played guitar and sang. Al Bouchard, the drummer doubled on guitar and sang, including lead vocals sometimes. Buck Dharma (Don Rosier) the lead guitarist sang, sometimes lead. It's just not BÖC without Buck tearing it up on guitar.
Got to see them in concert in Kansas City back in the late 70’s and they were awesome! ☮️🌻❤️👵🏼
So I don't miss it.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AND MOM!
Keep on Rock' and always great to see another generation of Zeppelin fans.
PEACE MY FRIEND. .HIPPIE JOE & Jessica ☆
I chatted with Buck back in '97 after a show in Vegas. I sat next to him at the bar and bought him a Johnny Black on the rocks. Good times.
The best song from their best album!
Buck Dharma. My favorite guitarist and a great guy also.
You are a person of great intelligence! Do you like their new album.
@@bradb3248 I like a few tracks from the new album.
Best thing about this version is Bloom's stage presence
Blue Oyster Cult is an incredible band
Underrated
My favorite band of all time
Blue Oyster Cult- The Vigil
Their deep cuts are some of their best songs - try Nosferatu or The Subhuman (Live from On Your Feet or On Your Knees). Hell, every song from that album is perfect, do them all.
Or if you want to go super deep, listen to The Horsemen Arrive from the soundtrack to the movie "Bad Channels". It's very obscure but one of my favourite songs of theirs, or even in general.
For a taste of the band's wicked sense of humor check out "Flaming Telepaths" off their Secret Treaties album.
Love that song, Mike!
Saw them twice in the 70’. Incredible stage with lasers that ended up getting banned.
CLASSIC live version , kick ass era
Please react to "Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll" and/or "I Love the Night"
Both 🔥🔥🔥
Happy birthday to both you and your mother. Hopefully many more to come.
Subhuman - Harvester of Eyes - Hot Rails to Hell - the 3 opening tracks of their superb live album On Your Feet Or On Your Knees - highly recommended!
Best band I have ever seen live. So much talent...
One of the better live bands. And they still tour.
My favorite BoC song.
Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll ***
blue oyster cult Divine Wind *****
blue oyster cult Deadline ***** great bass line
blue oyster cult Don't Turn Your Back*****
Blue Oyster Cult: Fire of Unknown Origin ***
Blue Oyster Cult: Veteran of the Psychic Wars ****
Blue Oyster Cult: Heavy Metal: The Black and Silver *****
blue oyster cult Joan Crawford ***
Another 70s great band. You can tell it's the 70s because the men have hair on their chest and aren't afraid to show it.
Great Reaction!.. you are the Man for doing "Astronomy" from the outstanding album Secret Treaties.. Other excellent tunes are "Flaming Telepaths", "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" or "E.T.I.(Extra Terrestrial Intelligence). For a new band that you have not reacted to, try Wishbone Ash, with their song "Warrior" or "Sometime World"..
Great reaction…..perfect.
No Autotune here!!!
For other grooves BOC brings, try "In Thee" for smooth or "In The Presence of Another World" for over-the-top intensity. Also...BOC just released a strong album of new music last October and are planning on touring when COVID allows.
Saw them a couple of days after this on L.I. at the Nassau Coliseum. First time with the lasers. Greatest Rock show I ever saw. I was 16. Used to follow these guys around the Tri State back in the day. A band that was/ is always amazing live. I've seen them live like 50 times. First time in '74 at the Palladium in NYC. The last time in 2019 here in AZ. ✌ More BOC PLEASE!
Their first three albums, honestly, I think their best: Self titled. Tyranny & Mutation, & Secret Treaties.
Tyranny is my personal favorite.
@@stretchgilbert talk about shredding guitar, a lot of that on those first 3
All their albums are great
I think you forgot about IMAGINOS. Not simply the song, but the album as a whole.
Happy Birthday Chod! This was definitely the best era of BOC.
Happy birthday to you, and your mom!
Niiiice I don't know this song! I know Don't Fear the Reaper, Burning For You, and Godzilla!!! All are awesome. Have heard others by them, but don't remember... very looking forward to this!
There are so many other gems
Check out the first 3 albums
Killer
The best version of this song is the phenomenal live version from the 'Some Enchanted Evening' album!!
Classic 70s sound
ALWAYS, Mom before RUclips, thanks for the BOC reaction.
finally! yes this is an epic also try dominance and submission studio also try before the kiss a redcap-studio also early cult classics among others
My two favorite BOC songs are I Love the Night and Nosferatu.
They were generational but had a major rise then fall... saw them once in a stadium then in a bar 10 years later... couldn't figure it out.
They never recovered from losing the Bouchard brothers
When I die I want to come back as Eric Bloom; bad-ass front man personified!
Happy Birthday!
Love this band and this song. Take a minute and listen to the studio version for comparison, and you should definitely check out Metallica’s version- they totally do it justice. I highly recommend the song Then Came the Last Days of May by these guys. Incredibly bluesy, it’s based on a true story of a drug deal gone bad. Cheers and happy birthday!
"She's As Beautiful As A Foot", "Then Came The Last Days Of May", first album.
Seven Screaming Dizz-Busters
Happy Birthday Sir~!~!~!
Blue oyster cult, veterans of the psychic wars live
I dig your Zeppelin shirt. It's official your a Led Head.
Great song, not such a great version. The studio version from the album Secret Treaties is epic. The live version from Some Enchanted Evening is a much better live cut of this song. Both are worth a listen.
Yeah, what a disappointment. Stoked to see a reactor finally do Astronomy but then it's a version that... isn't great.
@@chriswhinery925 Are you kidding? This is an awesome version.
Not my favorite BOC song but a decent one nonetheless. Please, react to "Cities on Flame With Rock and Roll," or "Burnin' For You."
"Veteran of the Psychic Wars" (live) and "I love the night" are fantastic songs to check out.
And Happy Birthday
You should checkout their live version of Then Came The Last Days Of May from the live album On Your Feet Or On Your Knees.
Metallica does a wicked cover of this btw :)
nice choice.............Try "Utopia"..."Abandon City" from the Album "Oops wrong Planet" and wait till the end
Might want to give BOC’s song ‘Joan Crawford’ a listen to. Great keyboard riffs throughout and a great banger to boot.
Happy Birthday :)
You rock bro
Happy happy.
Happy birthday to you and your mom coming up. Great you have that tradition with her. Funny, I have 3 family members with birthdays this week also. Yeah, the “Secret Treaties“ album version is the best for this song. They did another studio version about 16 years later that’s solid but not as good.. The original is the best. Definitely check that out if you really want to hear how this song should go.
Mr. Wilburn, I truly appreciate the effort you make to give an honest statement of your thoughts on the bands and songs that you react to. I have one rather serious question for you about this particular song and you will please forgive me for bringing this up, but it makes a huge difference as to what your reaction might have been. The album cover on the teaser for this segment is the album (CD) cover for IMAGINOS. This is the problem: ASTRONOMY was released on the SECRET TREATIES album, and re-released on the live-concert recordings album SOME ENCHANTED EVENING with a longer guitar solo... it was one of these versions from a live concert in 1976 that you reacted to. The IMAGINOS version was released in 1988 on the album IMAGINOS. That version of ASTRONOMY was phenomenal and had a tempo that was like 4 times the tempo of the fastest part of this version you reacted to. Why are you showing the 1988 IMAGINOS album (CD) cover if you are reacting to a live version from 1976 which is COMPLETELY different than the version on the album (CD) shown on the teaser photo in the video selections to the right of the actual videos we watch. That was what brought me in to watch this particular segment: thought you were going to give your thoughts on the IMAGINOS version of the song. To make matters even worse, you chose probably the absolute worst concert recording of the song; the bass is almost non-existent in the recording. That is not the band's fault or yours... and to your credit you somewhat acknowledged that fact in a gloss-over manner. Please try reacting to the actual IMAGINOS version of ASTRONOMY. You will be so completely blown away you will not believe that it is the same band!!! It will not disappoint you if you do! With sincere regards and birthday wishes (not sure if I am early or if I am late, lol) for you and your Mother, Eric C. Larson
Such a great time for Eric Bloom's vocals, but this particular video release("Live 1976") has been established as one of the worst sounding(audio-wise) live videos recorded. Don't know how they recorded it, but it's almost completely void of the bass track. You can hear it come in intermittently for a second or two, but that's it. A shame as early BOC live performances are rare to begin with.
BOC is a great live band and this is ok but not a great recording. Their live albums actually have some of the definitive cuts of certain songs, Cities on Flame from the 1st live album, Godzilla from Some Enchanted Evening. But definitely stick with studio versions for 1st listens from them. Buck Dharma is a seriously underrated guitarist.
edit: IMO, their first 4 albums I'd put up against almost any other group for musicianship, tightness and particularly for originality and style. They really are like no other group for awesome songs that are completely different than anything else you've ever heard, both sonicly and lyrically - i.e She's as Beautiful as a Foot from their debut album. One of the weirdest great songs ever.
You share a birthday with a long time friend. It is easy to remember, because it is also Earth Day.
Great song. I had the live album Seven screaming dizbusters i it was called. Patti Smith introduced them. I liked ME 262, The subhuman, The red and the black and of course Seven screaming dizbusbers. And Astronomy. But the best song i think BÖC have done is And then cmae the last days of may
I heard a song by Greta Van Fleet earlier today and being a drummer I would like very much to see your reaction to this song The Weight of Dreams. Also like to see your reaction to War on Drugs song Thinking of a Place.
Great song. Definitely react to the Metallica cover of this one!!!
Metallica covered this song and it is amazing I would highly recommend checking that one out
Hey dude, get your thumbnail correct. The live version of 'Astronomy' you were reacting to is the version off the 'Secret Treaties' album, not the album 'Imaginos'. They sound totallly different. 🤦🏾♂️
Chard I hope you're not getting charged for just being Chad
what a difficult recording to listen to. the Album version is one of my favorite songs from them
ITS SIMPLY STUPID T HEAR THIS SHITTY VERSIO WHEN THE ORIGINAL IS SO GOOD AND WHAT MADE IT BIG IN THR FIRST PLACE IT WAS TOO ANNOYING FOR ME TO WATCH I AGREE
You know what if you didn't end up playing drums and doing these videos I think you could have been another probably Ralph Crampton you know Jackie Gleason from the honey mooners
Deceiving video header. You show The Imaginos version which is epic but then play a not so great live concert version.🤷♂️🙄
The best live version is from the Some Enchanted Evening album.
Remember my friend, there are still a lot of Blue Oyster Cult fans about.😉
Is this the same dude that sang The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald??? 😳😯
Studio is better, this time.
the studio version is better....clearer , better guitars , tempo as well.......i've seen B.O.C. at least 80 times in 5 different states....in a small bar on Long Island that sounded much better than this
THIS VERSION SUCKS TOO BAD ITS A GREAT STUDIO RECORDING
BLUE O CULT HAS GREAT MUSIC ON THE FIRST 3 ALBUMS NOT SOME OBSCURE LIVE CRAP THAT SOMEONE RECORDED LATER WHEN HIS VIOCE IS OFF IVE WAY WAY WAY BETTER LIVE THAN THIS VERSION ALWAYS DO STUDIO FOR AN AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE OTHERWISE U MISLEAD
ALWAYS STUDIO FIRST !!! NOT LIVE NOT LIVE THIS IS NOT WHAT MADE THIS SONG FAMOUS IT STINKS COMPARATIVELY its aggravating to think this is made us love this song WHEN WILL MU LEARN here they are off key and it sucks!!!! the original is classic but u wouldnt know because u judge it on some STUPID VERSION NO ONE HAS HEARD OF ---WRONG!!!!! I WONT WATCH ITS TOO AGRAVATING SEEING YOU MISLEAD AND MISLEADING OTHERS !!!!
Quick question. How am I misleading if I go off the links my subscribers send me? I can’t lead in something I am experiencing from what is suggested to me
@@WILBURNREACTIONS You're good Chod, most of us appreciate that you can pick out the positive aspects of this song and BOC from a lesser quality recording. Keep it up, you're among the top tier of reactors out there.
I think Mark B needs a tissue 😭
What's the matter Mark B. Did your inflatable doll break up with you? Geez.
This one might not be of the best quality, but if you think that BÖC songs should always be heard studio version first, then you clearly haven't listened to much BÖC
