I wasn't too convinced with the earlier version due its strange color scheme, this one however looks much much better with the color choices and the parts usage. I have many other sets on my wishlist already that I need to get to first, but this one will join the list at some point in time. My Ex had the previous version and I offered to buy it off her when we split up (since she only got into Lego because of me and it was her only set) but she said no. Nearly bought the old one for myself before it was discontinued. So glad I didn't, this set looks like a big step forwards and I will be waiting outside my local Lego store on 1st July to make sure I snag one!! 😝
The walls are a massive improvement over the original’s ugly angled slope pieces. Something, I’ve always wanted to mod on mine. Otherwise, the rest seems 95% identical.
I think this set looks amazing, it’s nostalgic, a piece of movie /cartoon history I’m an extremely big fan of Disney and i would love to have it in my display at home, to me it’s a definite conversation piece👍🏿
Thanks for this review. I have the previous version - got it for myself, my wife and my daughter (also an adult). I much prefer the colours of the older version. Although I like some of the design changes here, the increased height of the tower to the right looks wrong. I do like the way the top of the tower goes together in this version (a nice improvement). And yes, we do have ours on display in the living room (and the Land Rover, and the Saturn V, and Diagon Alley, and the Friends Apartments, and...).
My guess is the special packaging will be until the end of the year, and then when it’s no longer the actual 100th year of disney, they just take the special logo off the corner of the box on all future copies

The only thing to debate is which version's colour scheme is preferred. The price of this is actually fine and normal; it's still very expensive but so was the last one. And this new one costs virtually the same as the last one, but is a little bit larger and has 20% more pieces. This new one won't be for me as I have the last one and haven't got the space for something this big again! But it's a good second chance for those who skipped the last one or prefers the look of this new one.
Me too. I think the Lion Knights castle will look very small in comparison tho. I will never understand why it´s also so expensive - how can the disney castle have more pieces + licence costs and be as expensive as the Lion Knights Castel. This clearly shows that Lion Knights is overpriced.

It's definitely better than the previous castle. But if you have that one why would you get this one? Could have gone with the Disneyland castle or the one from Disney movie's title card thats a combination of the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland castles.
To be absolutely honest, I think this set is honestly pretty lazy. Its a good set but I can't help but feel it was very lazily put together since there already was a set of the exact same castle
It's a well needed update of a 7 year old set that was already on store shelves for tons longer than any other set has, incorporating modern building techniques and a brand new colour scheme more reminiscent of how the Cinderella Castle at Disney World looks now.
Up until the Disney castle’s retirement, it was the longest running Lego set of 2022 until it retired after being on shelves for 6 years. Now the longest lived set on shelves today is the UCS millennium falcon. I’m actually scared when the news comes to that the set retires because it would be a wasted spot for an otherwise monstrous UCS set the following year I have a passion for collecting all lego Star Wars sets, big ones in particular and I would be disappointed if they release a third UCS falcon within these next 7 years after owning the 2nd edition since 2018
I much prefer the build of the new castle but the colour palette of the original, however, this isn't my theme (thank goodness as my three themes are prolific enough as it is) so more power to those who love Disney - although if that Peter Pan set gets a hefty discount...
If I could afford one of these two, I would honestly choose the 2016 original. This one looks better in my opinion, and the colors are more accurate to the real castle, but they're not nearly as useful for building MOC castles with. All that gray in the original... Plus, rereleasing the exact same set seven years later, just with slightly different colors, really feels like a poor choice on the part of LEGO and Disney. It's almost like they're trying to milk this particular cash cow for all it's worth!
Would be better if they used the design of the Disneyland Paris castle. Its nicer and bigger in real life than the Disneyworld castle. Then the differences would be much bigger. Now its just a little lazy
I would have LOVED the Disneyland Paris castle too. I would have been more excited if it was 15cm shorter if they made it a fully enclosed. But Cinderella Castle in Disney World is taller than Disneyland Paris by several meters/feet.
I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but I like this colour scheme more than the original. The original set the standard as being the more Castle looking, but this one has the bright vibrant colours that make it feel more magical. It is the "Magic Kingdom" after all so why would you want it to have it being the generic grey's and dark blues of every other Lego castle?

It's only lazy if they reskin an old build. This is rebuilt from the ground up completely differently. This isn't lazy, venomized groot is lazy
