Stuff like that makes me appreciate Lego over all the other companys that copied the lego bricks. Eventhough Lego gets more and more expensive, the technices used in Lego sets definetely makes it worthwhile.
I'm not exaggerating when I say this is not only the best review of the Lion Knights Castle, but the best Racing Brick review--period. It strikes the perfect balance between entertaining & educational, interesting & informative, and simple & cinematic. Well done! If I hadn't already been saving up for this set, this review would have sold me on it!
Actual arrow slits, towers, gatehouse, machicolations, garderobes, properly possitioned windows, accurate rooms... It's the perfect set, I think shad would like it!
I love this set and think it's absolutely stunning and a great culmination of Lego knights and castle sets from back in the day. I had king Leo's castle in the year 2000 as a small child but always wondered why they had stopped making castles like this altogether. This set is absolutely huge and the price is a bit expensive but for the amount of pieces, figures and functions involved it is unbelievably fantastic. I think my struggle is finding somewhere to display it!!
I wish that some of these bigger sets: 1: fit in my room, I've already bought 4 shelves and they're still full of legos! 2: cost just a bit less, I do not know how much this must've cost but it is probably up there with the Assembly Square, which I do own, but just something like -30$ would be such a pleasure to have 3: not have my fingers hurt after around 30 minutes of building small parts of legos.
This, in my opinion, is the single best castle Lego has ever done. It has it all, an amazing look, great build techniques and a great selection of figures. I guess I would have preferred a few more servant figures or peasants, but I'll take it as is.
Imo it is not. This is femi-castle. Black falcon knight has no armor, soldiers proportion might be better. Only 2 war horses. In the way how Lego evaluated for these years, I expected way more and better for this price. Even more picky story, e.g. black falcon delegation or siege or whatever. And here is packed some themes from the past in the sweet mood, like for the girls. Come on
@@bricktopian I WANT BIG CASTLE TO BE MACHO HISTORICALLY ACCURATE IT SHOULD HAVE ITS ROOF ON FIRE, STARVING PEASANTS AND A GREAT BIG WAR IN IT BUT LEGO IS SO DUM AND PACIFICISTIC!!!!

Thanks for this, great as always. I was on the fence about buying this one, but all the sections actually look nice and pretty interesting close by. They looked a little grey to me initially. I think now I will definitely get it.
When I was a kid, my grandparents used to get a lego catalogue in the mail sometimes, I definitely remember seeing a set just like this, brings back lots of memories.
I absolutely agree with your final thoughts. This set is amazing, yet it's $400. Even the 10497 spaceship set, at $100, seems out of reach for many. I really wish LEGO introduced more inexpensive adult collector/anniversary sets.
There's no reason for this set to be the price that it is other than for Lego to milk its userbase for all they can possibly get from us. $400 is way too much. $200, or even $250 and I'd pick this up in a heartbeat. But $400? I have to hope this doesn't sell out immediately, because I'll need 2 paychecks to reasonably afford it.
@@PlazDreamweaver unfortunately I think LEGO has always been pretty consistent with their prices and so this one doesn’t seem to be price gouged. Stuff owned by Disney however… yes those are purposefully inflated in prices.
Such amazing details and features. Absolutely love it. I know I won't ever own it but this is as close as you can get to enjoying the set without owning it, amazing work. Your reviews are so incredibly enjoyable.
Lego 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress was my favorite set growing up as a kid in California. I have like 90% of it to this day. I also was smart and bought it unopened of ebay in like 2009 before prices became insane.

Greetings from Slovakia! An amazing review, as always. I've never owned a Lego castle, but it's been such a big childhood dream of mine that I'm inclined to buy this, even if it'd be by far the biggest and most expensive set I own.
Being more of a sci fi fan than a medieval fan i thought i'd like the Galaxy Explorer more than this, but the amazing building techniques and detail of this set are simply stunning!
Dear Balázs, excellent review, as always. Your style by breaking down the building process and showing all the exciting details, features and mechanisms is just extraordinary and very unique. Please keep it because it is very enjoyable and clearly separates you from other reviewers with time-lapse videos. The set is a day one purchase for me.
Just finished my castle. I have to say it is one of the most satisfying builds I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Only thing I immediately changed is the heads on the knights and soldiers. Gave the queen proper attire and made the main fig a king. "Wokeness" has no place in Lego. Excellent review, by the way. :)
First time viewer, great review of a really nice set, as a child I had a lot of those early Castle sets (I didn't have the Yellow one, but from there on) and this one looks amazing, if I had room for it these days would be very tempted. Also, it may have been pointed out, but the minifig that you commented that had a 'funny expression' with a flag, I believe that's actually a horn/bugle that he'd blow into (hence the look of his face, taking a deep breath to blow) sort of announcing the Queen's entrance or what have you.
The knight with the strange expression at 10:51 is not a flag bearer - they are a trumpet player. That is a heraldic trumpet and the expression is pursed lips and puffed cheeks from blowing the trumpet.
Thanks for the review. Please continue to review the larger / adult sets that aren't technic... apart from jang its only you that mentions the positives and negatives. Also i really enjoy seeing the highlights of the building, that information is great!
Looks amazing but I think they should’ve kept those same basic smiley faces for the mini figs like with the space sets. If I ever buy this I’m gonna replace most of the heads with those faces
This looks awesome! I never got any Lego Castle sets as a kid, but it looks like this is a truely upscaled build from the originals and a great homage using mostly similar construction techniques to the originals. I wish the modern Lego Classic Space sets (Benny's and 10497) were more like this instead of their heavily technic based builds.
Ah, so thats how the drawbridge works! The balcony-bridge section inntge other side I figure it out, but didn't undersand the extra chains above the gate, inside the bug tower. I found a solution, hiw to make it, it's a bit cranky, but works too!
Thanks for the detail review set!! Love your video so much! Agreed with you perhaps the only issue is the pricing for set however to me how much money we need spend to bring back our sweet memory from our childhood. I saved the budget since early this year. Haha!!

I've been away from Lego much too long. This is a great way for me to return though! Amazing set! And... yes, the revised Forest Hideout definitely deserves to be made available for purchase as well!
I'm glad for the lack of machicolations anywhere on the structure. The presence of a proper draw bridge and portcullis in a gatehouse with enough room for the portcullis to retract into the structure AND a barbican with a proper gate of its own is already enough to give a certain loud Australian man heart palpitations.
Given that this is the second or third 90th anniversary set to come out in such a short time since they released the Lego Classics set. How likely do you think it is that there will be more of these full size ucs style sets, I know myself and many others are still holding out for a 20th anniversary Bionicle playset, though at this point I can't imagine what such a thing would look like.
