@tobias Hehle it's not too much for the piece count, minifigs, license, and size. To make it less expensive, they'd have to cut it down further. This set wouldn't be anywhere near as beautiful or have the same amount of figs at $250.
@@leader_one you got the rivendell model from.weta, aka the guys that made the movie props for the triology and the hobbit, for 400 bucks. This is no where near as good of a model. The licence? @@mangosteak You can't compare it to any of those. You can only compare Lego to other Lego. Piece count, minifigs, and theme. The UCS Razor Crest from Lego was $600. The Lion Knights castle was $400. For $500 Rivendell sits in the correct place. It has fewer figures than the castle (not by much actually), but far more pieces and is licensed. It has very similar piece count to the Razor Crest, but far more figures. Lego has profit margins. They can't sell those other sets I mentioned but randomly cut this sets price down. Also, I don't want a $250 Rivendell. The detail, size, and fig selection would be cut in half. If anything, give me a double sided Rivendell (no open back) and charge $200 more. Having just bought and build the Hogwarts Castle with a similar piece count, I can’t tell where all the pieces went in this set. The Hogwarts Castle was huge and took forever to build. Maybe it’s bigger irl and being mini fig scale (vs nanofig for Hogwarts) makes it look smaller. Hogwarts set also had a lot of 1x1 pcs but still ended up being huge.
My girlfriend and I are splitting the cost and she is keeping the side with the gazebo and I get the building. We both knew we couldn’t afford it in our own, but now we can afford it together ❤
It looks awesome 🤩… but it’s a pity LEGO is placing more and more interesting AFOL products in the top luxury price range…I’m curious how long it will take them to bleed out and loose their customer base…
Love this set. It was everything i was hoping for. I think this set is to test the market along with the brick head sets. Depending on hiw successful it is will determine how much they invest in future sets. But based on this set im sold
I think they did an outstanding job on it. I was hoping for Microscale so we'd get the full Rivendell experience. But it looks amazing. Just wish I could afford it.
this set looks good I just don't really feel it's worth $200 more in my country compared to the lion knights castle, I do understand it's licensed and you get great mini-figures, I just can't really justify it myself personally, but it is a great-looking set!
05:19 Yeah I agree. as much as I love the look of this set it’s yet another hugely expensive one. I would much rather have seen it released as three separate sets that you could then assemble together as one giant set. Trouble is the price per piece would’ve gone up but I think that could’ve been justified by adding a little extra to each set.
counting the studs the best i can factoring the angle etc it seems that a depth of 50cm is a lot. im not sure what angles they took that from cause it doesnt seem right. my largest cabinet depth wise is roughly 40cm and i just had the ecto 1 sitting infront of the silent mary in there which have moved. hopefully turning this on a angle will fit in there. it would be nice if lego gave us a birds eye blue print to better understand the footprint. either way its a gorgeous set and i already put my 800aud aside hahaha
I really want it.. the only thing that may hold me back is the price. Not only is it much but it's also not great value compared to other big sets. If it was 400$ I would have got it on day 1.
For me, this set is a problem. I decided to pick just one theme to buy large sets from, and I chose Technic. This has helped me not get sucked into stuff like the Coliseum or the AT-AT, sets that would have definitely bought without that policy. But now, LOTR? And the set is Rivendell? Actually, I came up with an ingenious plan that has actually worked. I convinced my wife that she needs it! She's not into Lego at all, but is a huge LOTR nerd, so it all works out.

Especially if you consider that Cada, Bluebrixx, Xingbao and Cobi and others easily make products as good but for a fraction of the price (without the licensed products). Lego will loose its audience if they keep it up, save for the wealthy Superfans who can afford it. And this is not against people who buy these sets. It's fine if you can afford it and I honestly don't want to ruin anyone's purchase. I'm just questioning Lego's reasoning for their prices and absolutely disagree with them and think even for a quality product, they're asking too much.

I expected a more landscape focused set based on Rivendell, with more smaller buildings, except for just one big building. The council scene is really nicely done and could have been sold as a 70$ set on its own.
A come back like this needs to start with a BANG. The brickheadz were a nice amuse bouche for the LOTR fans who have been waiting a decade for a new set, and I think we all (those who have been waiting) will manage to find $500 to display this set! The smaller council set can be found for $150 but it is laughable in comparison. I do believe the future LOTR sets will be "affordable" but if they lack displayability they won't be coming home with me.. So getting $500 now is better than $0 ever, those who can't afford will get the cheaper sets IMO
Too big, too espensive micro scale would have been nicer only if it can be cheaper. The gazebo is the best part with the prints being the second best parts
I like the new leaf pieces, colour scheme is good, overall ok but I am not feeling the umph, minifigs look dated also dont like the move away from the yellow faces, maybe thats for the better as I got other things to spend 429 for :D
As someone who's pretty happy with the original themed sets, and really didn't feel the need to expand, this set alone may change all that. Personally thought the original take on the Council of the Ring/Rivendell felt good enough for what little it was ($35 set back in the day I think) what Lego's done here is absolutely stunning, and beautifully fleshed out more so than I ever expected. Never expected Lego to step away from the microscale styled builds, but apparently the fans got through in a big way as not only is the build beautiful, and complete but has a complete collection of minifigs to go with it. Price is super steep, but value for what's being built/displayed is definitely there. Looking forward to the build review/final verdict.
Very pricey but then again so was the Lion Knight’s Castle and I got that so…😂 I want this just for the figures alone though. All of them will be worth so much in the following years. The structure and landscaping is outstanding too! I will wait until a nice GWP drops until I get this.
Yes. The lions knight castle is $400 for 4500 pieces and 21 figs. This is a licensed set with over 6100 pieces several new molds, and 15 new minifigures.

@@varonvan6336 Re-releasing old sets? Unlikely. Releasing new sets? Yes very likely. Will they be $40 sets? Probably and hopefully not.
@@PAL.Studios oh that's right thanks. Regardless, there are smaller sets within the Icons line
Hi, I really like all of your videos, I was wondering, when will you be able to review the lego technic Fire plane set.
When the embargo is lifted :) Can't tell you exactly when, sorry. It'll happen before the release date.
@@RacingBrick That’s fine, once again I really like your videos and I really like that you look through the comments.
Hi, never cared much for Lord of the Sat Wars. Does this set come with Dumbledore and Spock mini figures? Thanks. #winteriscoming
Fantastic!
When are you going to review the a frame?
I'll have a lot of reviews coming this month so I think in the beginning of March probably
@@RacingBrick great can't wait
Those are a lot of new, movie accurate weapon molds for one set. Is a full LOTR theme reboot on the horizon? 👀
Too big, too espensive micro scale would have been nicer only if it can be cheaper. The gazebo is the best part with the prints being the second best parts
The high number of stickers ruins this set for me. I’m not going to pay 500 dollars for stickers that ruin the sets longevity
I like the new leaf pieces, colour scheme is good, overall ok but I am not feeling the umph, minifigs look dated also dont like the move away from the yellow faces, maybe thats for the better as I got other things to spend 429 for :D
How u get advance copy of this when everyone else gets it in march plus how u get it chesp
I will wait until a nice GWP drops until I get this.
bro weren't you at billund like half a year ago?😳
It was in September :)
Are you allowed to show the physical built version?
There are plenty of shots in the video about the build
1:46 is that pipeweed? :°D
Unfortunately you can already see that all details are done through stickers again... :(
It’s looks better than knights castle compare to last year
Is it really worth $500 though..?
Yes. The lions knight castle is $400 for 4500 pieces and 21 figs. This is a licensed set with over 6100 pieces several new molds, and 15 new minifigures.
@@bz6046 but its just 1 building and a gazebo... the lions castle is 100 dollars less and a complete castle. was just hoping for something a little different with this rivendell I guess..
Awesome video
That's a cool set, but i don't understand how it is 6000 pieces. At first look it seems like it's 4000 maximum.
Those tiny roof tiles add up!
@@bosskbounty Those tiny roof tiles are 700-800 pieces roughly.
I like to think that the unnamed, blond haired elf is Glorfindel, as he is described as having golden hair.
