I love how advanced lego has become over the years. The amount of detail and geometric shapes they can create with lego pieces is amazing and the detail is fabulous. Love this set :D

I don't. Half of it is pieces you can use for only 1 set. They might as well cast everything into a single piece; voila a $500 1-piece plastic model of Rivendell!

Probably the best LEGO set I've ever seen. As a huge Lord of the Rings fan that has read the books and watched the movies and a big LEGO fan, this is the most amazing set I could've asked for!

The Big Tree by the chairs was a cleverly done build , looks good and actually looks like a tree. The build was fun all around and exciting . Couldn’t wait for the next bag. This is an all star set…… one of the best builds I have ever experienced.
imagine if the floor tiles would just be 1x1-corner pieces that create an awesome pattern and Instead every current Sticker would be a print. Would be sooo much better.

This is the most beutifull lego set I've seen. It's definetly on my wish list. And that's where it will unfortunatly stay. I have neither the space nor the money for something like this, especially since the Titanic set is top priority.
Im definitely going to get this eventually but I have other big sets that will retire first that also have to take priority even tho I like this set better 😆

01:36 Whilst TLG doesn’t given names….I feel these are meant to represent Erestor (the brunette one) and Glorfindel (the blonde). Both elves were present at the council and both look very similar to these minifigures. 12:29 It’s a lot of money for a one off definitely. But that’s the way TLG seems to be going with the 18+/AFOL sets. I think they could’ve broken this down into 3 or 4 separate sets that then join together to form one giant set and split the minifigures up between the sets kinda like the Hogwarts sets in Harry Potter. But I imagine that would’ve made things more expensive as I’d imagine each set individually would’ve totalled more supposing you wanted all the sets to join together.
The opposite is more likely : Glorfindel is blonde ("[...] his hair was of shining gold", also his name means "golden hair"), while Erestor is likely to be a Noldor, who are often brown of hair

I got mine quite a few months ago when I had the money and the drunken impulse! lol! It is so beautiful and wonderous to me (rather than being a huge LOTR fan type thing). It is still in the box just waiting for the perfect time for this Lego experience... I've built a few other kits since I got it. lol!
The ending was just so good for some reason. Great review and editing though! You’re getting really good! Btw, what set would you recommend, the Lego Discovery Space Shuttle or this one? I know they are completely different price wise but in the value that you get for them?
Thanks :) It really is hard to compare those 2, they're at completely different price ranges. Both are really good, and both require a lot of space for display surprisingly. If you think you'll get both eventually, I would get the Space Shuttle first as it is more likely to be retiring in a year or two and then work your way up towards this one. If you think you'll only get one out of these two, then Rivendell for sure!
I am currently building this. It's a super enjoyable build. I just have the big middle section left and I'm quickly realizing I have nowhere to place this. I gotta do some quick rearranging

This is a really gorgeous set. It's really detailed and has a lot of mini figures. I do wish the box was a little better for the price, but overall this is super tempting. The meme face is a nice touch.
Brilliant review and awesome camera work! If I had to guess, I'd say that the cool moving in and out close ups are taken with a Laowa 24mm probe lens or something very similar? The combination of close up, wide angle and tight space around the view angle seems pretty impossible with any normal lens.
I’m half way done with this set, my wife and I have been at it since Sunday. It’s everything I could have asked for as a fan of Tolkien. I really hope people show up for this one. I doubt I’ll ever show up for a Star Wars UCS above $200usd, but LoTR sets? Day one, whatever the price, I’m there.

Fantastic review as ever Tiago. Brilliant presentation of the greatest official Lego set imo. Kudos to the designers that the main Rivendell building is incredible as a stand alone model but combined with other beautiful builds it is overall astonishing with all those perfectly balanced colours
As for price and value: the thing that immediately jumped out at me is that it’s as many pieces as the UCS Razor Crest, 10 more “real” minifigs plus the 6 statues, a whole new set of weapon molds, some new dual-molded hair elements, and it’s $100 cheaper. Sure, there a bunch of 1x1 tiles in Rivendell, and the Razor Crest had a couple new large-ish pieces. But except for the windscreen print, these were all recolors of existing elements, and I’m thinking the expense of a new color (so long as it’s opaque->opaque or transparent->transparent, and there’s no surface treatment) is pretty minimal. And Rivendell _also_ has some entirely new pieces (the fern, weapons, and hairpieces, at least) and some large parts. I don’t know whether the price difference reflects a development cost or production cost I’m not thinking of, the license fees Disney charges, or what Lego thinks that Star Wars fans will pay, but I _am_ curious. It’s also interesting to compare it to the Lion Knight’s Castle, which has a similar number of minifigs (plus a cow!) and is only 80% the price. But it’s also only 75% the part count, and it’s not obvious to me that it has more (or fewer) large or specialized pieces.

I'd be devastated if we only got this and the Brickheadz for new Lord of the Rings sets. Hopefully enough people buy this one to give us a chance at more. I'm waiting until a double VIP points weekend, but I think it's worth it for me.
@@nathanwharton2420 look up ‘Lego survey leak’ and try and find pictures, many of them were taken down. I believe a massive Barad-Dur was pictured as well as some other IPs such as a Zelda set, a UCS sail barge for Star Wars, some Harry Potter stuff, marvel X Mansion, and the temple of doom set that’s being talked about a lot rn. It’s hard to find pictures because Lego really cracked down, Reddit took them down from most places, and no big publishing companies used the pictures

I originally baulked at the price and piece count for this, but have since then changed my perception of this set when I realised that it has almost the same amount of pieces as the UCS Razor Crest, but retails for $100 less in my country.

I got this set, built it while watching the full extended trilogy. I got through the whole trilogy then started the cast commentary on two towers and got all the way through the first disk.
Just bought it yesterday in a completely crazy mood. Now waiting for it to arrive and start building. Wondering how long it will take me as I am relatively new to building Lego. Can't wait though. ❤

I got mine quite a few months ago when I had the money and the drunken impulse! lol! It is so beautiful and wonderous to me (rather than being a huge LOTR fan type thing). It is still in the box just waiting for the perfect time for this Lego experience... I've built a few other kits since I got it. lol!

It really is hard to compare those 2, they're at completely different price ranges. Both are really good, and both require a lot of space for display surprisingly. If you think you'll get both eventually, I would get the Space Shuttle first as it is more likely to be retiring in a year or two and then work your way up towards this one. If you think you'll only get one out of these two, then Rivendell for sure!

This is a really gorgeous set. It's really detailed and has a lot of mini figures. I do wish the box was a little better for the price, but overall this is super tempting. The meme face is a nice touch.

Brilliant review and awesome camera work! If I had to guess, I'd say that the cool moving in and out close ups are taken with a Laowa 24mm probe lens or something very similar? The combination of close up, wide angle and tight space around the view angle seems pretty impossible with any normal lens.

I’m half way done with this set, my wife and I have been at it since Sunday. It’s everything I could have asked for as a fan of Tolkien. I really hope people show up for this one. I doubt I’ll ever show up for a Star Wars UCS above $200usd, but LoTR sets? Day one, whatever the price, I’m there.

Fantastic review as ever Tiago. Brilliant presentation of the greatest official Lego set imo. Kudos to the designers that the main Rivendell building is incredible as a stand alone model but combined with other beautiful builds it is overall astonishing with all those perfectly balanced colours
As for price and value: the thing that immediately jumped out at me is that it’s as many pieces as the UCS Razor Crest, 10 more “real” minifigs plus the 6 statues, a whole new set of weapon molds, some new dual-molded hair elements, and it’s $100 cheaper.
Sure, there a bunch of 1x1 tiles in Rivendell, and the Razor Crest had a couple new large-ish pieces. But except for the windscreen print, these were all recolors of existing elements, and I’m thinking the expense of a new color (so long as it’s opaque->opaque or transparent->transparent, and there’s no surface treatment) is pretty minimal. And Rivendell _also_ has some entirely new pieces (the fern, weapons, and hairpieces, at least) and some large parts.
I don’t know whether the price difference reflects a development cost or production cost I’m not thinking of, the license fees Disney charges, or what Lego thinks that Star Wars fans will pay, but I _am_ curious.
It’s also interesting to compare it to the Lion Knight’s Castle, which has a similar number of minifigs (plus a cow!) and is only 80% the price. But it’s also only 75% the part count, and it’s not obvious to me that it has more (or fewer) large or specialized pieces.
I would love to see a set that's the Two Towers & Mt. Doom. What an amazing build that would be.

@@nathanwharton2420 look up ‘Lego survey leak’ and try and find pictures, many of them were taken down. I believe a massive Barad-Dur was pictured as well as some other IPs such as a Zelda set, a UCS sail barge for Star Wars, some Harry Potter stuff, marvel X Mansion, and the temple of doom set that’s being talked about a lot rn. It’s hard to find pictures because Lego really cracked down, Reddit took them down from most places, and no big publishing companies used the pictures

I got this set, built it while watching the full extended trilogy. I got through the whole trilogy then started the cast commentary on two towers and got all the way through the first disk.
