  • In this video we are showing the shifting efficiency with using X-CarboRing (previous version) and X-CarbonRing Evo.
    Chain slip off is a nightmare to rider. It can damaged the gear components as well as chip off the frame cosmetic. In any other circumstances, wrong shifting would be a reason of chain slip off issue such as pre-shift the gear without ride the bike, reversing the crank arm while riding it.
    In our test, we assuming rider is use it aggressively in such a way quick shifting and pedaling. From that we can determine the shifting efficiency of both X-CarboRing and X-CarboRing EVO.
    Hence, the purposes of this video to tell how does the chain slip off and how we regenerate the same issue and find the solution.

    You were in the largest cassette while trying to shift into the large chainring from the small chain ring, and you kept doing the chain ring shift back and forth. TBH, I wouldn't blame the chain ring too much even if there was a chain drop, as the chain tension was shifting from minimum to maximum back and forth too rapidly, and I wouldn't use that gear combination and shift back and forth in any rides anyway... That was more of an "extreme case" testing, and carbon-ti did pretty well in my opinion.

      U r right. Extreme case can cause a chain drop. In the video, the chain drop happened at the 2nd smallest cog (rear).

    One question after all, you think the new Evos are still worse than the original chainrings or are they equal in their overall shifting performance

    Hi, my setup previously was carbon ti chainring with Durace 12spd crankarm. Shifting was good from small to big chainring.
    But now i change the crankarm to Elilee carbon crankarm, pair with the same Carbon Ti chainring.. however now when i shift from small to big chainring, at times the chain took quite awhile to engage. Meaning when shift from small to big chainring, it will take abit more time before the chainring catches the chain. This does not happen when i pair it with Shimano crankarm. Any idea what can be the issue? Much appreciated. 🙏

    thanks for the VDO , have you tested this similar procedure with new ROTOR 11-12sp chainring ? I’m using ROTOR new version 11-12sp chainring and facing several chain drop to the inside when shifting from small to big chainring.

      Probably it’s gear tubing issue. Check the front derailleur position when the rear cassette is biggest.

    What is the difference between new carbon ti evo before & after?is it only the model & is it guarantee new outer ring will not have same issues

      New Carbon Ti EVO has better inner cutting edge so that chain easy to shift inner to outer crank.

    Do not loosen tight bolts with your torque reaches. I destroys it’s accuracy!

    Do you have any experience whether you also need the small chain ring from Carbon ti? or does it also work with one from Rotor for example

      No guarantee. Rule of thumb for perfect gear shifting, use the same brand chainrings and same set of gear ratio 53/39, 52/36, 50/34 etc instead of mix and match. Another word, don’t over engineer the gear components. its truly difficult for mechanic to rectify the problem. Cheers

    May I know the latest evo version only work v shimano 12s groupset or it can be compatible v the previous 11s groupset also?

      ​​@@USJCYCLES03can you mount a new small cog or do you have to remove crank? I'm tempted with THM but want to know safe and easy to remove without damage, current stage spindle I always used a mallet to help remove, been trying to find a video where someone removes the crank

      @@mlee6050You can mount small Cog without remove the crank. To avoid scratches , you can cover some protection tape on the crank first.
      THM crank is not easy to detach once installed. We use tire levers to push the crank arm out from the spindle in the event want to service BB.

      Have you looked at SE much online? I'm waiting on them to reply but some selling places say 110kg and others say 120kg, also I'm confused when they say bike weight as surely it what rider is as only weight on it
