**OK, people, PLEASE STOP TRYING TO CORRECT ME. THIS IS AN E-3. NOT AN E-4. Believe it or not, the people who actually restored this airplane are fully capable of reading German. It was fairly common practice for crews to retrofit the E-4 canopy onto the older E-3 airframes. Enjoy the incredible sights and sounds of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3. This aircraft is a Battle of Britain veteran and is powered by a Daimler-Benz 601 engine. - Авто/Мото

Those inverted V12s are an engineering masterpiece and show just how innovative German engineers were. When the RAF got their hands on one during the Battle of Britain they were confounded by the design features which included fully automated injection; endlessly variable blower ratios and a single cam lobe driving both exhaust and intake valves via a system of interposed roller followers!
God, there's Spitfire and 190 as well😍😍😍 FW190 und ME109 are the most beautiful warbirds in my opinion
Agree,Me109e is a stunning warbird and my fave single engine plane.🇬🇧
109 E's my favorite variant and probably my favorite fighter plane.
That supercharger hanging off the side is menacing
FW 190 was a better plan IMO but both exceptional and the gold standard when introduced
The sound of that inverted Daimler-Benz V12, incredible! The best early warbird my opinion. Nimble, light, fast. (Until the fat and lumpy G series)
Beautiful and iconic aircraft! I love the sounds of their unique and distinctive engine sounds. Thank you!
I love the sound of that supercharger from 6:20-6:26. Sounds like a jet!
Hoffentlich bleiben uns die alten Maschinen noch recht lange erhalten.
The BF109-E series was the prettiest of the ME-109's in my view. It and the MK-5 Spitfire was the best looking l planse of the war with the P-51 in 3rd place.
Sry'! But F (early G)wins in my book ;-P
@@dallesamllhals9161 Gen Rall would even agree.
I don’t have favorites😂
I find the late war 109 K model quite beautiful too
Nice aircraft the bf 109.
Beautifully restored plane!
+ Classic Cycling There are three flyable Bf-109E restorations in the world and they have all been completed by the same workshop. The workmanship is superb. A fourth example is in progress from a different workshop and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
About to make a 1/32 scale model of the E3... love that video!!!
Thank you very much ♡
Oh lord... 109 is such a beauty😍🖤🖤🖤
Die Motoraufhängung ist ein Designerstück.❤
E variants can be sometimes called *Battle of Britain variant* since that variant saw combat during Sea Lion.
Beautiful birds!!!
One of my faves! The 109E-3 was a great looking aircraft! Too bad this one doesn't have an E-3 canopy, but the E-4+ canopy is still nice.
Alors e3 ou e4 ?
Pour moi j identifie un me 109 e4
@@michelchasset Il a quitté l'usine en tant que E-3, mais a reçu la modification sur le terrain de la norme E-4.
Belo vídeo parabéns
This is what i want for x- mas !!!
Fantastic aircraft!
An iconic aircraft
It's gorgeous please look after it there's not many Emils flying
2:59 that blade/propeller sudden noise made my skin crawl...
beautiful
Wonderful !!!👍🏼❤️
Вы бы видели как они красиво горят когда их сбивали Покрышкин, Кожедуб и другие Советские лётчики!!!👍👍👍
WWII was ugly... but the Machinery was and is still so beautiful ! my grandpa used to fly the bf 109 e&g in wwII. He always told me what a great fighter it was. It´s so sad i never had a chance to fly one of these by myself. I always remember his face when we went to an airshow and saw them. He was so proud and pleased seeing them still airborne and intact. Miss U Grandpa =( I always felt guilty for all those great men he shot down during the battles...
i only had a plastic models 😭😭
Emil !!! The iconic one. Eric Hartmann said it was the sweetest of the marks.
Awesome looking 109, the 109s had the rawest fighter look of all the planes used in WW2 in my opinion.
+NagijuanaMusic Your not alone there' I always thought the 109 and 190 just looked like they could kill you even on the ground .
Yes, this E variant is less sleek than streamlined G-K series, but that is what adds to its menacing look.
Me109 looks vicious!
The Spit and the bf 109 together = legendary.
Possibly the best 13 minutes I've spent on RUclips! No announcements or silly background music, just stirring engine sound! To me the Emil is the classic 109. Thanks for uploading such pleasure and to all you guys who added informative remarks.
There was music coming from that engine.
🥰🥰🥰
Cheers
Love hearing that Daimler. My favorite scene from " The Battle of Britain" movie was at the beginning when the two Bf109's made their strafing run low to the ground with those Daimlers screaming. To me this engine sounds as nice as the Merlin.
Holy Mother of God... the four legends of WW2... P-51, Spit, Bf-109 & Fw-190 all in one place at the same time !!!
I would have given a kidney to have been there...
me too only thing missing is the ho229
+Mac Anix to be fair the hurricanes were way more successful than the spits and should have deserved the attention the spits have got
+Mac Anix I think you missed the Ilyushin Il-2 Sturmovik... the 5 plane fly-past didn't include the Bf-109
+Ayumi Chi Very true .... but that goes for a lot of things; the beautiful thoroughbred often gets more attention than the humble work horse.
+William Nelson also the JU-87 iss missing
You can read and read and keep reading about these aircraft BUT nothing does it like seeing the real thing fly !!
She looks so elegant... she is really a beauty.
A shame she was made for destroy or get destroyed.
I read " pregnant" instead of elegant.
Heinz - That's the insanity of mankind....We develop better and better machines just to kill one another ! And the truth is, without such madness these magnificent warbirds would have no reason to exist ! What a world we live in...
She? Which one are you referring to?
DB 601 magic sound!
Really beautiful to see the unmistakable shapes of two historical enemies fly together.
thank you to post this video.
gianluca
wundervoll dies zu sehen und vor allen Dingen zu hören !!!!!
This is so lovely. Thanks for making them fly again with their original engines.
You could always hear a 109 out of other aircraft blindfolded by that beautiful whistle from the supercharger.
I used to like the E more than the G series, but the G-series has just this more streamlined menacing shark look to it.
Awesome footage of the Emil!
I'm in love with the Bf-109...
😂
Me too!
I don't think that was the big factor- the 109 was still better for high altitudes.
io amo tua madre quando la vedo con le cosce aperte sulla tangenziale
They didn't win it anyway. The FW is and ugly plane and the nicest is the MK9 Spitfire and it was superior in many ways, It DID win the war too. We have a flying FW190 here in New Zealand and it is ugly in flight as well.
Wow, what a rare sight to see! What a rush to take in all that sound! thanks for sharing.
Wonderful to see a fully restored flying E with the right engine. Maybe I'm biased, but to me, the E is THE classic ME 109.
Long may she stay airworthy.
I agree. For me, the Emil was always the aesthetically "perfect" Me109.
This is a stunning look at a beautiful aircraft.
Agree, but without the Swastika, otherwise it will be doomed!
For me the perfect 109 was the F4 with its round wing tips, cleaned up nose, no horizontal stabilizer struts and relocated wing radiators. But I've never flown one. Gunter Rall spoke highly of the F4, however, noting it was the best example as a fighter, "before the 109 became weighed down," as it became in subsequent versions with heavier engines and guns. Yet, I agree, the E series looked very good. Like a shark in the air.
Ineke Mateman that is not a swastika
There would be a swastika on the tail of course if it were a scrupulous restoration. There can be legal issues, of course, if the aircraft is based in Germany. Otherwise it's a matter of debate, one side claiming that failing to include original markings are an attempt to rewrite history, others claiming there is little point to adding them because of the infamous nature of that history.
Great video. What a fantastic look back in time. I love all WWII planes. BF109 was such a great plane. FW190 is one of my favorites. These pilots are so lucky to fly such classics. Thanks for sharing!
Mmmmmmm, that engine sound! It's like champagne for the ears! Wonderful!
RUclips needs a love button for this one.
Smiles, yes it does.
It's amazing the sound of the engine ME, besides the high quality of the video, is a gem of German engineering of that time.
It is a part of history that can still hear and see, thanks for the video.
Jj Mc Coy best part was me 109 being fuel injected ,never had any hiccups like the spitfire or hurricane carburettor engines that used to hiccup on negative g,s.
Mc Coy - And the amazing part is, more than 70 years later we citizens of the 21st century are still able to watch and listen to one of these babies, as if we were back in the '40s during the war years....and to a privileged few, it is possible to watch them in a Museum from a very close distance ! As for me, I'm more than happy to be able to download these vids for my personal collection !
The Spitfire is beautiful, but the Bf109 is BADASS!!!!!!!
Munrais I think I'd rather be in a spitfire than be in a bf 109
Jo Baaaadass essesse
omg if Willy, Kurt and Reginald could see their marvels fly peaceful side by side ;-) !
Nice to see it flying alongside the FW190 which is powered by its original BMW 801 radial. The inverted V12 Daimler 601 seems to be much louder than the 801. In all of the scenes with both aircraft, all you can hear is that sweet smooth Daimler!
Mauricio Herrera Just the engines were made by those companies. Daimler Benz (Mercedes) made the DB 601 V12 for the BF109. The aircraft itself was made by Messerschmitt. BMW made the 801 14 cylinder radial engine for the FW190. That aircraft was made by Focke Wulf. Both of these aircraft in this video are actual WW2 combat veterans.

Excellent video and thanks for posting it!!
Beautiful job of filming, they were some beautiful aircraft, all of them.
Beautiful plane. Love the sound of that engine.
Especially the distinctive whistle from the supercharger (it's even more pronounced on the G's DB605, which had a more powerful one).
Merlin sounds better!!!
Ted Church I have to agree. I have been to many airshows and probably the best sound lol hear all day is a P-51 Mustang in a dive full throttle at air show center !!!!!!' What a smooth and powerful sound 🔊
Lancair W, There are probably many WW2 planes that sound nice as I heard the Corsair and that too sounds great but a different sound to the Merlin. The Griffin doesn't sound as good but in its own way still ok. So even the 109 sounds cool too but I just love that Merlin.
Ted Church the Corsair is a close second. The sound of a radial start is nice. You don't start them up, you wake them up 👍🏻
Just brilliant - nice piece
Beautiful sound. Nicely done! Thank you!
Fantastic video....well filmed....great sounds.....Steve.
*_AWESOME FOOTAGES !!!_*
Thanks for showing us these historical warbirds.
Ill give them props, the Germans build some sexy machinery.
PROPS
Nicely compiled! Great idea to focus on the engine sound.
The DB-Series is by FAR the most well sounding engine of whole WW2! Fuel injection and G-loader .. yummi!
Made in Germany.
Whenever I see a 109 in video or pics I think of Erich Hartmann. Greatest ace in history. 352 confirmed kills. Germany produced the highest scoring aces in both wars.
Barry Sullins the German pilots seen more action then any other pilot in history. they fought the world. get good or die
Не сбитых и не убитых. А 352 победы. Мы не знаем что немцы имели в виду под словом "победа".
Иначе откуда такая разница в количестве сбитых у немцев и американцких, английских советских, японских асов?
Apparently Eric never got involved in dog fights. He had a way of doing hit- and- runs. That's how he managed not to wear himself out.
@@normg2242 aha nice Wikipedia research
Outstanding! I just watched the greatest airshow ever put on!
Awesome video, many thanks for posting!
Remarkable video. The aircraft looks stunning and a tribute to all who restored her. The landings, normally so difficult such narrow track landing gear, were beautiful to watch.
Daimler made great motors. Excellent pilots for those landings - the BF were known to be killers for inexperienced pilots.
OH Germany what a planes you have done !!
Who won the war??? Just remind me!!
Incredible video..Beautiful plane's and impressive job on this video too...Thank you so much for your videos
To the pilot:LUCKIEST GUY EVER!!!
It's amazing how small the 109 actually is, and quite cramped compared to aircraft of the time
A fantastic job of craftsmen, this warbird is really an important part of recent war history...Thanks a lot ....Fight to Fly.
Stunningly beautiful footage!!! I've Never seen all those fighter types in formation together. Holy Cow!!!
The best fighter in ww2 bf 109
My fave 109! :)
That was AMAZING loved every second.
I love the markings on that 109. Flying history. beautiful kites.
ME109 is the best plane ever!
I can see why the German pilots loved that E- model!!
The Mk9 Spit was a match if not superior to the FW190 and the 109 even if it did have a carb instead of injection. It could turn inside both of them with ease. But nice to see a 109 in the air as it completes the picture.
Ted Church was yeah it was weird to see a spit mk9 flying behind a bf 109 E
@@tedchurch mk9 was not a match for the fw190 not even a bf109 why? They didn’t use the same fuels. Spitfire used American 100 to 150 while Germany used 87. Bf109 has a bigger engine by over 25% meaning much more potential for power given high octane American fuels which Germany never had for higher compression
Its great to see it restored and flying. Along with the FW190 and spitfire. Its nice to see history not being forgotten.
amazing video, people dont think about it but to see one of these planes flying is a real treat, but 5 and all together. LIke having 5 museums fly by at once. just think for one minute the amount of work and money it took to get all these planes together at the same time for us to see.

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing, and greets from the Netherlands!
beautiful photography, emil is my favorite 109, thankyou
Well this actually isn't emil...

Erich Hartmann yes it is...
Unbelievably good video of a very rare flying E3 - What was her Werk No. and combat/crash/restoration history ? I love the 'Emil' version, but wish someone could get a Stuka back in the air with those sirens.
Here's the history of this aircraft: Werk No. 1342 - This Bf 109 was assigned to Jagdgeschwader (fighter wing) 51 and piloted by Eduard Hemmerling, a veteran of combat in France. On July 29, 1940, during an air battle over Dover, Hemmerling earned his third victory in combat. But his own aircraft was mortally wounded, and Hemmerling turned toward home. His failing airplane crashed off the coast of Cap Blanc Nez, killing the 27-year-old pilot.
In 1988, a man walking on the beach near Calais noticed a piece of metal sticking out of the sand-the tip of this plane’s wing. The Bf 109 was excavated and later moved to England for reconstruction and restoration. The plane was added to the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum in 2007.
+Martin Davies This museum is working on a Stuka, but their projects are done in private so no photos. It will probably take many years to finish and they have other planes to finish first that are farther along. (P-38 soon, Me-262 soon, Fw-189 on hold) The biggest problem with a Stuka is that the engineering drawings are incomplete and scattered, and you really need them to build correctly for airworthiness certification. Worldwide, there are now three E series that are flying.
Thanks for that interesting update. Where did the Stuka or Stuka parts all come from ? Recently there was a fairly complete Stuka found, still sitting upright in warm Mediterranean waters just off Croatia I think. That would seem an ideal airframe to work from, to use or manufacture new build parts.
+Martin Davies The Stuka is a crunched up R-2 that was salvaged in Russia many years ago. Basically complete but smashed. There is another complete R-2 in the Science Museum in Chicago, so it was recently cleaned and scanned with 3D tools and hopefully will provide some needed engineering data. That Stuka in the waters off Croatia breaks my heart. It is property of Croatia and there were talks of salvage but no and it will stay in the water for now. There is little will, interest or expertise locally for it. It is a perfect candidate to reverse-engineer a new example, but for now the scuba divers are going to wreck it until it falls apart . Export and salvage laws sometimes prevent any action on these things also.
@@fight2flyphoto Вы бы видели как они красиво горят когда их сбивали Покрышкин, Кожедуб и другие Советские лётчики!!!👍👍👍
watching this without the swastika on the verticle stabilizer is like drinking a virgin shot of tequila...just can't be done.oh wait...that FW-190 is like a straight shot of white LIGHTNING!

Why do I laugh when the smoke comes out of the supercharger intake?
I laugh at the same thing. I have years of experience on various types, including B747-400, but just like you, I cannot stop giggling when I see an old piston engine farting and burping and coughing :->
Sorry, this comment was meant for THIS thread, not the one where you discussed the takeoff problem. "....My daughter she was 6 at the time, when we were at Toulouse air show. She said, "dad how come the airplane is farting?"...."
Jean-Pierre Burgogne Hahaha, no worries:-> My grandson started saying the exact same thing when we were watching an air show in Everett, in the US.
I know right? xD
Yep, need to go and change my underwear.

Yes sir me too.

2:30 leaning mixture to max performance for take off :)
GTOAviator newbie question: why leaning the mixture? doesn't the mixture have to be rich for take off?
+Helder M It's a ballance of getting the most out of the fuel in the cylinders. Too rich and too little fuel will burn. Too lean and the engine will get too hot, because more fuel also provides some cooling.
I'm not an ME expert, but this is general to many combustion engines. It's a living thing.
+Anthony Smith There's another explanation. He could have been doing a "mag check"" as we call it. It would explain the sudden drop and return of RPMs, as well as the exhaust. I still think it was a mixture check though :)
+GTOAviator
The Bf-109 also has a mechanism to clean fouled spark plugs by flooding the combustion chambers with fuel to generate a lot of heat. The pilot could be cleaning the plugs.
More fuel would cause fouling and less heat; less fuel (a leaner mixture) creates more heat.
A legend again on the top of our heads! God bless the crew and the pilot who fly this little proud plane!
Its a very powerful and reliable engine, one of the best machines by that time.
Warbirds keep 'em flying!
109 always looks a bit sinister, as it should!
falconeaterf15 the spitfire is beautiful, the mustang is pretty but yes the 109 certainly is an angry looking beast. In combat I'd give the advantage to the allied fighters later in the war but for looks, it is the 109 for me each time
Ianpoulton79 I disagree on the most esthetic looking fighter of WWII has to be the P-51 Mustang. I guess it all is the eyes of the beholder.
falconeaterf15 always looked deadly.
lawyers9 I'll tell you what guys the fw 190 must be up there, but it was a fighter bomber, what about the p 38 lightning ,me 109 bf.is probably my fave, but you've got the spitfire, which was the saviour of Britain but it was obviously the hurricane which was a much better gun platform and shot down more bombers than the spit, which was an interception against fighters, while the brilliant hurricanes killed the bombers and got no credit.
@@lawyers9 p51 is german design the 109 is the daddy
A beautiful plane and great video.
