    Some sort of sleep system, extra socks, long sleeve marino wool t-shirt & a mosquito head net. Great presentation because you laid everything out. You didn't pull everything out one by one & spend too much time explaining everything. Good job.

    first off i would like to say that is a nice kit. I usually do not like to tell people what is right or what may be wrong with something in their kit considering we all are different .But i would like to offer one suggestion that will really be of importance for long walks.Put moleskin in your first-aid kit,trust me blisters are nothing you want to deal with during a emergency.

    Buddy I just subscribed and stumble across your video from watching a different prepping video. I keep a small dry bag with extra socks.and undies. I would also add a small thing of gold bond powder. If you're plans are to hike hard for 7 hr you gonna get chaffing. Other than that I would have substituted the hammock for a 9x9 tarp. Great video very informative.

    First, thank you for your service, Sir. A well done kit. You obviously know what you need. I really have nothing to add, which is actually a rare treat for me. There is nothing humble about my opinions on this topic, but in your case I will simply offer this: I notice that most people fail to mark their first aid kits. In my opinion, all FAKs should be clearly identified with the internationally recognized red cross emblem, and should be obvious from the outside of the rig. In the event that you are the one incapacitated, partners, companions and bystanders should be able to access the FAK in order to render timely assistance. Good luck to you Sir! Keep on the sunny side of the street, and keep on keepin' on...

    I would suggest swapping out your food. Those bars are 24hr rations meant to keep people "alive" and be shelf stable. You would be better off with 4-6 large protein bars in place of those 2 ration bars. More protein for physical activity and to make you "feel full"! Otherwise the bag looks awesome!

    You’ve got too much stuff for staying put and not too much stuff for moving. It’s a go bag not a stop and camp with 50 different ways to start a fire. Lighten it up and cut back on the light and fire sources. The ferro rod works like a charm. You don’t want people to see your stuff or you. Just fyi. Good stuff tho.

    • @bledsoetx
      @bledsoetx 2 года назад

      Same mistakes almost EVERYBODY makes. You don't need tents, tarps, 17 firemaking methods, 12 knives, 2 guns, or 50 rnds of ammo to "get home". Plan to travel light, fast, and unseen as possible. A big pack just will attract attention.

    Considering the 7 to 14 hours of walk, you'll probably not gonna use any of the items you got in the bag (excluding water or food) but the point of being prepared is having and not needing so if I were you I would consider the "overnight fact" a little more and improve your sleeping system. I didn't see that poncho but I assume is one of those little ponchos just to protect the person wearing it, I would change it. Maybe add some sort of a blanket. I don't know your environment but here in Italy you would be screwed without a decent sleeping system. In the end I would add socks, underwear and a T shirt

    In my opinion, you could probably cut most of that stuff out of your bag. You said that your sitting at 25 lbs? That's going to hit you while you walk that 17 miles home. I'd ditch those energy bars, they suck, and just keep some snickers, canned meat or MRE main meals, not the entire package or something more enjoyable with you.
    You said that your a 6 hour walk home, let's say 10 hours for obstacles, you really don't need much to get home. A BIC, some water, food, poncho, map and a extra pair of socks. Wear 2 pairs of socks while walking to reduce blisters.
    All the beat luck to you!

    • @tankrust1
      @tankrust1  2 года назад

      I don’t mind the energy bars. I’ve eaten them before. MREs are typically in my minuteman bags or BOB. 25lbs isn’t too bad. when I go out and do my walks, I’m typically wearing that in order to train with the weight. Thanks for the comment 🤙🏻.

    I find it amazing how many u-tube videos regarding get home bags include a vast array of useless crap to include multiple internal pouches to organize it. It seems that it is a contest to see who can come up with more cool useless gadgets to cram into these bags. Let’s get to the point, weight is your enemy if you must walk home any distance. Anything that adds weight that you do not need as a necessity that you cannot eat, or drink just makes your trip more difficult. Most of the videos I have watched include several pounds of cool but useless gadgets and little food or water. Yea the world has come to an end due to an EMP and you are carrying multiple electrical devices and a host of charging cables, yea that’s smart. Do you need a shovel and multiple knives, maybe if you are setting up a roadside flea market? If your bag is designed to get you home don’t carry anything that does not help you achieve this goal. Since weight is your enemy anything over 20 pounds is a bad idea so make every ounce count. Bacic light weight shelter, water purification, headlamp, whistle, fire making capability, compass and map, and limited first aid supplies, and a defensive weapon and as much food and water that you can carry with in the weight limit are the way to go.
