You should probably save the "please like, please sub, please discord, please twitch" bit for the end, opening with a minute and a half of that will probably tempt a lot of people to click off

I fundamentally do not understand why rainforest is lowered appeal. They're literally the most famous environment for their variety of beautiful flora and fauna.

@Count Dotensand871 Mosquitos and diseases exist in temperate and boreal woodlands as well. Firaxis is wrong for the negative appeal associated with jungle tiles.

I hear you bro. There's a lot of stuff that's ba kwards in the game. For instance, the Pantheons "Religious Settlements" & "Fertility Rites" should have their effects swapped in my opinion

They’re harbours of disease, too dangerous to be of use like a boreal forest for the sake of a national park and also the climate is naturally very rainy which makes building infrastructure more difficult.

@@kaiheaton4858 Terrible for cities sure, but appeal is there for recreation and people pay millions of dollars every year to go visit tropical locations.

I just realized my edit at 8:45 is incorrect, that particular line in the Civilopedia is not a duplicate because the "duplicate" line isn't talking about adjacencies, but if a Chateau/Sphinx is specifically on top of the tile. My bad, VB is still correct about those other two lines being off though.

This video is very appealing! Preserves planning in early stages is quite difficult. You want farm/mines. Before you know it you loose the space for a good preserve

Ok, so you didn't really cover how each tile is given it's appeal rating! You did, but it left me other questions! You mentioned appeal is effected by tiles adjacent to it, based on what the tile offers or contains. But I was hoping to see you go over how a single tile final appeal rating is determined, counting all 6 tiles surrounding it, with your game as an example!
So any tile not water or not MTN starts at 0? Probably doesn't matter what tile surrounding it you start at, but I typically start at the tiles 12 o'clock adjacent tiles and count around the tile in question. It's only those 6 tiles surrounding it, nothing else unless a specific wonder or something effects all, I'm guessing.
So I have a tile I want to add a neighborhood to, currently has a mine on grass hills, it's a -3 Uninviting. At 12 o clock, has a grassy MTN (+1 for the adjacent appeal adjustment? Or +4 for the MTN actual appeal?) The 2 o clock is a grass with marsh, I plan to remove (a -1 I think? Or does it calculate the tiles appeal of -2). The 4 o'clock is a Hills with rainforest (- 1 or count the appeal of -3). 6 o'clock is an Amber improved Mine (-1 for mine, or -1 for Uninviting?) 8 o clock is a Govt Plaza (no appeal adjacency? Or -1 for the tiles uninvited?). The 10 o'clock is a campus, also Uninviting -1 (but no adjacency for campus, so 0?).
So how does the appeal for the tile I want get to -3 Uninviting? If I count the appeal for the 6 tiles surrounding, starting at 12 and clockwise, +4 -2 -3 -1 -1 -1 = -4?? Or using the adjustment table for Adjacency Bonus of appeal? +1 -1 -1 -1 0 0 = -2? But again, the tile in question, center of these 6 tiles, is an Uninviting (-3) and I don't understand how it got there, as I just spelled out the two ways I could think of it calculated, it's either -2 or -4 yet it's -3, so it's not adding up!
Do I wanna put a 'Hood on an Uninviting -3?? Heck no!
The only 2 tiles I can change (I'm on Xbox, I can't use mods, so I can't remove districts or most resources), are the Marsh and the Rainforest! I plan to clear both those negatives away, and as I'm Egypt, I plan to put a Sphinx on one, and likely a City Park from Liang on the other, assuming this makes +2 each or +4 total, it applies that after I remove the negatives, right, effectively changing it +6 on the -3? That should be a Charming (3)?
Please correct me where I am wrong?? Thank you?

I don't know why it put a line through portion of my message, making hard to see what is negative or positive. Idk how to fix that.

IIRC, the game names things as they are discovered based on the civs nearby. It's a specific list sort of thing for each civ to name the features with. Another example is a river near egypt being called The Nile. I"ve also seen things like the St. Lawrence bay/river in game as well. :)

At what point in the video does we hear what appeal does? In other words i want to hear why its important. It seems im findintlg out from other souces that appeal is most important to a cultural victory pursuit.

I wonder if the reason at 8:35 the two district lines repeat each other is because Canal and Dam are from Gathering Storm? So the second line which leaves them off is for vanilla/RF?
Also, very minor since it it's so rare to build but Golden Gate Bridge provides +4 appeal to all tiles in the city that built it.
Oh and a few other unique improvements besides the Chemamull are related to appeal: Alcazar, Chateau, Golf Course, Ice Hockey Rink, Nazca Line, Pairidaeza, Rock-hewn church, and Sphinx.

I second this notion. It looks like when they added the line for gathering storm they forgot to remove the line for the base game.

And Reyna has a promotion! "This city receives +2 Gold Gold for each unimproved feature. Tiles adjacent to unimproved features receive +1 Appeal in this city. Now i wonder... does that mean a marsh then gives +1, or that it offsets the -1 from the marsh?
Oh! And since the Inca can work mountain tiles, they can benefit greatly from plopping preserves where you would normally place campuses and holy sites.
