Yay-another video with Ryen. I love you both. I think you play off each other really well and it's so nice to see two different incomes, expenses etc using the same system.
I'm extra spend-y with my cards. I prefer cash. I don't like giving it to anyone. It was great to hear that others take their cash and deposit it to cover online purchases. I do that, too. I never thought about comparing my months against each other. That's something that I need to do. Great video! It was awesome seeing the two budget recaps together.
Hey Miko, for the new edition in October, I would recommend considering moving the Monthly Spending Comparison up in the book to immediately after the Monthly Budget Category Breakdown. That way we can review our spending compared to our budget and then compare to last month’s spending. Then move on to debt and savings breakdown.
This was very helpful. Thank you. I was not sure how to do these pages.I also Like seeing the difference between yours and Ryen. I get paid the same dates as Ryen so knowing she does it for the full month was good to know.
How do you track/budget for annual bills like Amazon Prime, Costco memberships, etc? Would they be written in your bills section, variable spending section, kept as a sinking fund, or just covered by your cushion? Love y'all
I have been wanting a budget by paycheck book since the first of the year! Can’t wait until more come out! I have saved for one and can’t wait to purchase it.
Love your videos and would love to see how Ryan budgets her income doing a monthly budget but not getting pd monthly. Like how does she cover expences in the begin of the month until her next paycheck if she has already closed out her budget im curious because i get pd every 2 weeks. Thanks
Shantell Kuik Me too! I use Miko's cashless "envelope" cards to track my variable spending in each category. Works like a dream, and I’m much more disciplined using my card with the cashless envelopes. I also don’t like carrying around a lot of cash, and even more importantly, my spending cash is in an interest-bearing checking account so it can be earning money for me.
Same here! I use the envelopes for some sinking funds in cash(Christmas, trips, fall festivities, pets) but I don't have them out unless I am putting cash in or taking it out for the purpose. I keep them locked away or I'll use them. I spent so much when I had cash because I had that "well, it's not for bills- it's extra money" mindset and I still do that for some reason.
Very interesting video from both of you...cash spending online can be tricky to keep on top of sometimes. Can you discuss a little bit more about your approach to financial freedom on a video? Thanks!
I find it awesome that your retirement age is 59-60 years old. In Australia ours is 65-67 years old. We can access superannuation at that time. Some can access it at 60. But retirement is 65. At the moment but by the time I retire it may be 67-70 years.
Any suggestions for vibrant colorful pens? Some of mine bled through a bit. Not a big deal but I’m also a pen junkie. I’m loving my LRP and have something fun to do that’s also beneficial to my life!
I love seeing these monthly budget recaps but could you zoom in a little more on the workbooks side by side please as it’s difficult to see some things you’re showing. Thanks!
I love these videos, I started in January and I still learn something from each video. I have a question. I roll over envelopes pretty often because my Husband is self employed and since his income varies, sometimes I have to make up for it. It’s hard to budget when it changes each month so I try to keep extra in each envelope in case. So when including the starting balance on the trackers, should I include the sinking fund totals too even if I don’t plan on using any? I normally do and for some reason, my tracker is always off from what I actually have in cash in my variable and sinking fund envelopes. I hope this question makes sense 😬
Also, could you make a video about how you used your clothing sinking fund and income from Chris for your Costco run? Curious how you accounted for this in the workbook. Stuff like this stresses me out because I don’t know how to track it.
This may be a very stupid question to ask, but how do you budget the next month on the 1st when the last check of the month before runs into the new month? I get paid biweekly
How do you show (or do you) money which is auto-removed from my paycheck and goes to a 401(k)? My company matches up to 5% and right now I have 7% removed. Since I never 'see' the money, I haven't ever counted it as going to savings. Should I continue to ignore it and not show it on my tracker? Or should I include it?
When will your Budget Planner be available? I had ordered the printable version but found it didn’t print on my printer very well. So I went to get some of the pages printed at Staples but it was expensive to get it all printed...😕 I want to just order the binder. Thanks for all your knowledge you shaker! So inspired by
For anyone wondering where to print your digital copy of the bbp workbook, I recommend The Homeschool Printing Company! Here is what it looks like with details I chose for printing: • Double-sided • Colored • 24 lb paper • Binded with clear plastic covers on front and back page • $36.11 total including shipping
These videos are great. I can't do the cash but I use a cash + credit card to earn money back for buying food and paying bills so I have earned money back from that.
so will your new release planners have this workbook layout in them??? I didn't see them in your recent planner review video?? Where can I get the workbook?? New to this group, and want to set it up to work along side of everyone...
The latest release was a planner for scheduling (the live rich planner or LRP). The book in this video is the budget by paycheque or BBP workbook. You can get a digital version of this BBP on mikos website, or the actual book comes out in october, but ive heard pre-order is September
I think its a brokerage account - so the money is actually in mutual funds, index funds, stocks or bonds (whatever Miko chooses). But not a bank account , because even with a "high yield" savings account, the most you will be earning is about 1.5% - which is horrible growth compared to a mutual funds, index funds, etc. Do you have to put after-tax dollars in to a brokerage account, and you will pay capital gains taxes on any earnings that you take out. But you can take the money out at any time without a tax penalty.
The new one coming won't gave a printable version she said that she doesn't want to have the printable and people go print it off and bind it on their own because it's more expensive than what she sells the physical one. She wants to eat the cost for you.
@@terranlane6779 oh damn really :( its cheaper for me to buy the digital and print it as i need it at work and just hole punch it myself. I saw what people paid for international shipping/plus the currency conversion for the LRP, and its way more expensive to buy the actual workbook.

Miko, I left a message in the facbook group. I have 2 checking accounts. How do you track income when you transfer from one account to another (at a separate bank). Can you post an article or a video explaining this please.

You take out cash, just to replenish your checking account for what you paid with a debit card? Cash spending with this tedious tracking makes no sense to me. You're obviously keeping an eye on your money by noting it down (very redundantly with this notebook and your cash envelopes, and not very accurately given that you are rounding everything up and expect to be off at the end of the month). It just blows my mind how people say paying in cash is the only way for them to get a handle on their finances because debit/credit card spending causes them to be careless. I'd say if you can dedicate time to tracking your finances with the amount of time and effort this system requires, I think you can give yourself some freedom and look into flexible spending options like paying with a debit/credit card or discounted prepaid gift cards and track as you go. You'll look at your balance in your spending accounts (not your checking account) as your "available cash" and then tell yourself whether you can/should buy it. In the case of credit cards, you can get cash back and defer payment interest free anywhere from 20 days to 50 days with grace periods (you of course have to be careful, but it is a POWERFUL tool when used correctly) The freedom to pay with debit/credit card responsibly will allow for faster, easier to track, and SAFER transactions. Think of all the time you would save not going to the bank every pay period and not worry about getting robbed. My friend was recently robbed after leaving a bank after she withdrew her spending money from her paycheck and she had NO RECOURSE for getting it back; I felt so devastated for her. Clearly there's a huge following with cash spending with Dave Ramsey and this blog has a huge following, but I do want people to open their minds just a little bit about using different methods of payments and not worry about how it will hinder their healthy financial habits. You did get my full view of the video (with ads) so if anything, you got that from me.

Thanks for the video! Question: the financial freedom savings are not on a 401k or Roth, right? So, are those savings in a regular savings account?
I’d like to know this too. We put many aside in our 401K, Roth IRA and 529. Where do you put your money to be able to pull it before retirement?
