My husband was so reluctant to combine funds until I cash flowed our wedding, my part of a down payment on our house and a new mattress in a year. Then we combined and I am paying off his debt monthly now. Our long term goal is a self sustaining homestead where I can be the hermit of my dreams.
“The freedom to choose” this got me in tears. A few days ago I was able to do something similar and still very emotional about it. A mom on a FB group I follow had her special needs kid hospitalized for over two months now and with all the expenses was about to be evicted from being behind on rent. I felt so compelled to help, that night I couldn’t sleep just thinking about her and her son. So the next day I PM her and ask (actually beg) her cashapp and send her something to help. The joy that gave me has no comparison. I never spend that amount of money in me but giving it to someone to help… OMG. I just can’t stop smiling since.
Awww Ryen, You are such a sweetie and an angel. 🥰💕 Our furbaby got an allergy test done and it turns out that he's allergic to alot of things. He sees a Dermatologist Vet specialist and is on an allergy Vaccine every 3 weeks. Yesss, Miko! Financial fulfillment!!! We want to ALWAYS maintain wiggle room to be able to help others! ❤️❤️
I must say this is my favorite budget recap so far this year! Worth the wait! Ryen, you inspire me so much. You are an incredible person and Miko your sentiment say's it all. Financial fulfillment. YES! With or without debt, when you have a plan and have it all covered and have a surplus, you can give to others who don't and that is AMAZING! I love this channel and am so happy we are all caught up! Can't wait to see how the year closes out. This channel has been a HUGE influence in my debt free journey. I'm rocking it too! Thank you! 💗
Ryen ..what an absolute angel. I wrote down that quote: 'The Freedom to choose." I had a blessing similar to that, there was a pile of groceries left outside our house ..still to this day...don't know who it was from. 😍
I love watching The Budget Mom videos - but these recaps with the two of you are my favourite! The advice is good - but you make it so much more accessible with your personalities, your friendship and sharing your own stories. I am only a few years out of school but I feel so confident with my finances and following your advice has helped a lot with that!
I also offered a job to a young woman. Who in addition to being qualified, showed so much heart in that she had left her previous position to care for a family member in their final months on earth. Ryan. As my mother in law always says, "God will grant you more."
I'm so glad I found your channel last year. I purchased the BBP book, a d started writing everything we spent down and creating a budget. I always found budgets hard, until I discovered the BBP method. It makes ao much more sense, and I found it easier to stick with. We have a massive mortgage, a LOC for repairs after our house fire, and now a car loan (after unexpected vehicle write off that insurance wouldn't cover). We wanted to tackle the LOC first since the interest was the highest, and the bank of Canada has been raising rates to combat inflation. It was close to $15K amd my partner and I were determined to pay it off by December 31st of this year. Happy to say we paid it off the first week of September. It was actually $23K as of September last year, so we're super happy. It's motivated me to be more mindful of our spending and focus on saving and debt payments. I have an account for car insurance so I can save the extra few dollars they charge for months processing so I can pay upfront when insurance renews, have all birthdays, Xmas etc. saved for, and a house maintenance account. Our plan is now to pay off my car in 3 years instead of 7, and save for renovations. Love what you do and for motivating us and showing us it's possible.
Love it Ryen! Even when I had debt I did the same. It may have been only 20 here and there, but I knew I was ok enough to be able to do that. A little goes a long way!
So glad to see you both!! Congratulations on your wedding!! My husband and I finally got a joint account after 17 years because it was too much for me to keep track of what bill came out of what account. I'm looking forward to paying off debt and saving for a house!
This video was like a bunch of girlfriends sitting down chatting and laughing. I’m sure my coworker was like what is wrong with her😂 got my drink and pulled up a chair and so much enjoyed this video. ❤❤
Been following you for a little while now and I have learned so much. Thank you! watching this video all I can think is..... I want Mikes top/dress , it is gorgeous!
I am so happy I found your channel at the end of February. I feel hopeful for the first time in a long time. Would you be able to go over the “debt categories” for the worksheet? Is that just what debt your paid or actual categories like “credit cards” and “student loans”? Thank you!
Ryen, my dog gets environmental allergies too. We found Cytopoint allergy shots at the vet every few months really help. Miko congratulations on your wedding! I love watching your interactions and hearing your stories. TBM has been such a wonderful resource. Thanks so much for all you both do.
I’m a 4th year vet student! And sadly allergies are sooo common in dogs and it really sucks! Luckily apoquel works wonders! But knowing triggers /seasonality also helps stay on top of the allergies
Totally taking advantage of that! Luckily the vet told us about that and I think we have around $60 just from the two bottles of Apoquel we've got! -Ryen
Apoquel is so expensive. My rescued dog is on maintenance for the last 2 yrs coz she has food and environmental allergies. She doesn't do well off it. Hope your dog feels better soon Ryen. 💙
Ryen, have your baby's thyroid tested. My granddog had skin issues. It took the vets years to figure it out. Give hugs and kisses to him. Thanks ladies for all that you do
Yes Ryen!!! I have one credit card left buttttt believe I still have a giving envelope. An acquaintance in FL was minimally affected by hurricane Ian she was doing everything she could to get supplies to others. And thank goodness for electronic banking, I was able to send a some money boom immediately provide extra for those that are in so much need right now.
I gave to the food bank last week, I bought them feminine hygiene products (holy hell they are so expensive thankfully I don’t need them anymore), I also got pasta and rice. Just every so often you need to donate to help people less fortunate than yourself.
My mum always said I would be too kind with my money and I always would have said to her I can make more money but knowing I'm helping someone who needs it is something money doesn't give me by keeping it.
Veterinarians, and yes, I will lump MOST of them into this, as I have been to many over the last 30 years, take advantage of animal loving people when we are at our most vulnerable. It's a crying shame, that those of us who care for our pets and want to give them the best care, have to go into our savings to only find out they have an allergy. It's shameful and where is the line? Sorry to get off track, but this is a sour note with me because I deal with it all the time. It's wrong. And, while I'm at it, I will lump DENTISTS right into the mix of taking advantage. Thanks for letting me get that out girls. ☺️
My dog is allergic to Fleas. One single bite and she'll be itching for a week. Make sure your dog is on a good flea medicine, the fleas are different in different areas.
My dog has allegries. I think is the nettles or ambrosia in my case. It is seasonal. He is on meds when it start and he is fine. Same thing as your dog, itchying like crazy till he bleeds.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Kids college savings, retirement savings and life insurance before a barn or do all and refi the home. I wish I could get back all my NFL ticket money. If you spending close to your income, drive your friend to a food bank.
Not nearly as heart warming as Ryan’s story, but thanks to budgeting I have more gift-giving money than I need for Christmas. My bf doesn’t have a job at the moment but is giving gifts to all 6 nieces and nephews instead of just 2 because a bunch moved closer to home. I decided to get the gifts for 3 of them for him to give. I don’t typically give his family gifts, but this is an exception that will bless them all.
Hi, I resigned from my job on 5/2020 due to medical issues. I'm now on social security disability, and I'm terrible with finances because I was not taught how to budget. Can you make a video on budgeting on a fixed income? I've searched RUclips for such videos and feel like no one really gets it; budgeting in 2022-2023 with a fixed SSDI income seems impossible. It's been two years, and I still haven't found my budgeting groove. HELP!!!!!
My mom turned gray young and if she didn't color she'd be all gray. She checks my hair sometimes looking for one. I don't have one yet. I forget what the old wives talked like if you pluck a gray hair you get X amount more per gray hair plucked. 😂
Hello Ryen! My dog was on apoquel and we signed up for the zoetispetcare rewards(it’s free rewards to use for expensive medications) and it helped with the cost. Ask your vet about it! It helped a lot! Let me know if you have questions about it 😁
Oh my gosh YES! Luckily the vet told us about this. I think we already have nearly $60 built up just from two bottles of Apoquel! How does it work though? Are you only able to use it on certain items or is it like a cashback sort of thing? -Ryen
@@thebudgetmom You need to set up an account and should receive a debit card. The account will be linked to your email to keep you updated on the status and balance. Be sure to get a receipt and take a picture of it to upload to prove you purchased it. It will take a couple of days to approve it. When it is added it will load on the card and you can press redeem and then your vet office will run it though their cc machine like a debit or gift card. My vet had an instruction sheet to explain things but the app is user friendly too! I hope this helps and isn't too confusing but it sure did help lower the cost of this expensive medicine!! You're awesome!

Wow Ryen!!! Great job !!! You really are compassionate about people in need!!!

Love your highlighter method ❤
I really hope these come back. They help me stay organized.
Ryen I did something similar month ago & you sharing reminded me to cancel walmart+ bc I only used it for that purpose.
As a veterinary nurse take your receipts from the apoquel and summit them to zoetis the manufacturer you can get really good rebates!

Yeah I know it's insane. I bought mine last time at sam's during the summer sale.
Sorry to hear about a real car but this makes for good travel memories stories for later.
Love this recap!
My mum always said I would be too kind with my money and I always would have said to her I can make more money but knowing I'm helping someone who needs it is something money doesn't give me by keeping it.
Where did you get your shirt Miko? I want it :)
I love this video. Fun
Girls, you're great! Love you so much!
If you don’t mind me asking, what stocks did you buy? I would suggest VOO or VTI. Don’t buy both. More kids?

you can ask your vet about cytopoint which is inoculated once a month and maybe you can save some. and bathe with ozone shampoo
Oh thank you! I'll have to ask her about that :)
