Thank you so much, I know NOTHING about computer hardware and you just saved me from purchasing a new laptop. Just as you said, the noise may not stop instantly but once I rebooted it, the noise was gone. Again, thank you 😊
I am so grateful that you put this video on RUclips. My new computer (Asus PB50) is not a laptop, however it is VERY compact and uses laptop components. Loud and rapidly changing fan noise was spoiling my enjoyment of the otherwise impressive computer. I followed your method to reduce power input to the processor. I found that a setting of 90% was almost good enough, but there was still a lot of fuss when booting. A setting of 80% seems to have silenced the fan permanently, even during boot-up and virus scanning. Using CPUID HWMonitor, I have confirmed that the CPU is running cooler now and the fan speed is always close to minimum. You video has made a huge difference for me.
Even though this is 3 years old video, and your probably not going to see this comment, but thank you so much, you don’t know how much I appreciate this! Yay no more embarrassing loud noises during tests and quiet classes at school 🙏
OH MY GOODNESS! I have gained part of my sanity back with this fix. I opened up my laptop to fix a cooling fan issue but it kept making such a loud fan noise. I was close to reopening it and buying crap that I guess I don't need (hopefully not yet). Thank you so much.
Sweet quiet relief!!!! My (relatively) quite new laptop has the most mental overworking fan. So glad I found this...my volume can go down, my ears have peace and the fan can take a chill pill XD
I messed around with some of my other settings too... I'm not good with computers, but I did what you said and it seemed to work, I combined it with a few other things and it made it even better! You are a life saver thank you! :D
Bro i love you... I had an mun tommorow... And I had to take my laptop I was worried about the fan noise cause it's not just gonna annoy me but also others.... I took it to a shop and they said that I have to replace it and I just tried this and it worked.....
Came back here to say this worked like a charm. I'd been struggling with my noisy ASUS laptop for months. Even worried I might have developed Tinnitus during the covid lockdown 😩 I checked various online forums and everyone kept saying it was dust or recommending thermal paste or something. Watched this video last night and now I can hear the sound of my keyboard for the very first time! 😂 Thanks a lot for this. Truly a lifesaver. Was actually considering buying another laptop 🤦♂️ Update: Now I have to find a way to shut the GPU fan up. Just can't catch a break 😒
A fix that actually work. I have a Acer Aspire i3 and when I first bought the laptop, it was fine. Until a couple a months in that it begins to make loud noises everytime I load a youtube video or multiple tabs. Set mine at 50% and the loading speed of the browser is pretty much the same, without the fan noise!
Thank you so much. After trying like almost all the methods I was really dissapointed with my 1 day old hp pavilion laptop. This worked like a charm! you are a saver :)
I used put my desktop computer M.2 drive into my laptop to download games using my work WiFi since my home WiFi was slow. When I finally got better WiFi and put my laptop original m.2 drive back, Every time I turned on my laptop the fans would go off like crazy. from turning on the laptop to simply opening Google Chrome. This video helped my fan issue so thanks.
I must say. I love fixes like this one. also, impressive how powerful modern CPUs are: doing all their work at 50% power to the best of our expectations. I remember times of 286 or 486 PCs with "turbo" buttons that you would never ever turn off, haha...
THANK YOU, Poolarity - Life Hacks !! I have been struggling with fan noise on my laptop-(Lenovo Ideapad 530s, i5) and now after I did this, it is so quiet! Before i saw this video, my laptop made noise just when I started Google Chrome. But now it is so silent! This is the most important video I have ever watched.
Hi Thor, my laptop is also Lenovo Ideapad 530s, i5. Could you mention how much you put your minimum processor state and maximum processor state? I have put 48% min and 100 % max but still the same prob. Thanks in advance!
@@heavenoeticsoft2786 I have set my maximum processor state on 55% and my minimum on 5% it works good, and my laptop is only making noise when I do heavy stuff(like fortnite).
Fantastic fix and with Windows 7. The fan was so loud that my wife was about to divorce me. Not to mention my X1 Carbon Gen 1 was as high as 101 degrees C Another video here recommends a setting of 97-98%. That did not work at all. I have a new Gen 7 that I bought last year but I hate Windows 10 so I've been trying to delay or stretch out the switchover. Thanks so much for an excellent video.
Thanks , My Laptop (Acer Nitro 5) , Just Started To Get Hella Loud Outta Nowhere , I Cleaned It And It Was The Same , I Recently Tried What You Displayed In The Video And I've Already Seen/Heard Major Changes , Thanks 💯
Because you got the Acer Nitro 5, its probably because you want the full power. You may want to Create 2 New "Power Profiles" 1 for "full power" and 1 for "quiet". So that you can easily switch back and forth depending on what you are using your laptop for.
Very helpful but I will add something, if it still doesn't work try putting a fan underneath the laptop that should help from getting the laptop hot in the first place so u can higher the performance by 10% and the fan won't open , but sadly the fan still starts
Hi Sir, thanks for the video, it worked, but i noticed that the performance when navigating through different apps/browsers has become much slower, expected right?
Life saver, now I can go to school peacefully again.
My teacher almost shut down the classrooms fans and let my laptop do the work instead!
