What can't you eat after WLS?

  • People often ask me what I cannot eat since I've had weight loss surgey. To be completely honest, there is nothing I cannot eat. There are foods that hurt, foods that make me feel ill, but there is nothing that I can't eat. There are a lot of foods I choose NOT to eat, because they make me feel like crap, but I only know that because there was a time when I did eat them.

    Hi, I just came upon your channel. I'm 9 days post-op from VSG. I'm struggling right now... I miss food. I miss chewing. I feel completely powerless and out of control, like I'll never be a "normal" person, I'll never eat again. But your video helped remind me that I am in control. I do have power. This sleeve is MY tool to use to change my life for the better, and I'm gonna do it! Thank you so much.- Rose

    My surgery is exactly one week from today. Your videos are really helping me understand what I will face post op. Making the decision to take this step took a lot of research for me but ever since doing so I have been extremely excited for what the future will bring. I have been vlogging my entire process. I started my youtube but I haven't found the courage to post my videos yet. I think I'm going to wait until I have had the surgery. Then I can post all my pre op stuff and follow up with weekly then monthly updates.SO happy to find your videos. Thanks

    Thank you for making me feel like I'm not absolutely insane! I started cutting calories to 1200 per day about two weeks ago. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have GERD and HBP. I went to my first seminar this past Saturday. I see my surgeon October 2nd for our first appointment for my gastric sleeve. I've gone from 228lbs to 194lbs on my own but have a ways to go. (5ft 1in tall so 119lbs recommended "ideal weight") It's been hard. I'm a very emotional eater. I've literally cried over a bag of M&M's. I didn't eat them but lord how I wanted to! It's frustrating and I live with my boyfriend and daughter who both can eat anything and never gain a pound. I constantly have to remind myself why I'm doing this and how good it will feel on the other side of the scale. I love your videos and have joined several forums that have helped immensely. Keep up the fantastic work!

    Thanks for being such support, I just got my WLS consultation referral. My light bulb went off , im tired of basically digging myself an early grave and I am doing something drastic about it, I have a huge fight ahead of me given my health issues at hand but one health issue that's kinda helping is gallstones ( I dont want to eat or i eat very little) they say to do a joint surgery so I am hoping that this is plausible and that my gallbladder behaves until then, I weight 282 its my tipping point especially since I weighted almost what I did with my daughter. She passed 2 days after my c section and my promise is to better myself and be healthy so I can do something in her name..So here goes first step of the journey begins.

    Love that u tell it like it is. I am over a year out and I am having so much trouble with fighting myself and what I eat. Sometimes I look in the fridge and cabinets and cant find anything I want to eat that is healthy so I just don't eat. I know its wrong but that's what I do.

    I've been thinking of doing the surgery my self. I've done a lot of research on my own n spoke with my primary care doctor but I still felt as if I had a lot of unanswered questions. But after watching your videos I feel more comfortable n you answered a lot of concerns I had. Thank you.

    Congratulations. I have watched almost every video you have and i like how you advice and tell it like it is. I have my appointment on oct 29th and i cant wait. I feel so pumped up, by all the good people i have watched here and i want to reach out to others also. I know It is not easy, but i have decided that is enough of being morbidly obese . I am 45 yr old, weight 225 and i am 5'2" . I am divorced and battling depression for 4 yrs. Lat month i felt my life was not a life. I actually got third of the sedentary life, the backaches the shortness of breath when i walk a little. I WANT TO STOP THIS!! So i made a choice. I am gonna stick to it. For ME. Thanks for the inspiration. Thanks because i feel you as a friend already. I already opened a chanell and i will start recording after my appointment.Wish me luck and prayers, please. God bless.

    Hi Lauren, have been watching your channel for a while now but just had my surgery (sleeve - 10 days ago) and got back to this video because for the last two days I experience mild cravings, specifically when when I get to smell someone cooking something that I used to like a lot but at the same time been so early in my post op I don't feel actual hunger and almost can't drink all the liquids that I suppose too.
    So with that said sometimes I get I little bit scared for the future, when I get cravings and have to actually be strong enough to say no, you know?

    • @WLSCoachLauren
      @WLSCoachLauren  10 лет назад

      Juliana Gomes YOu need to learn the difference between head hunger and stomach hunger. Just as an alcoholic needs to learn to say NO to the drink, you will need to learn to say no to your cravings, which at this point are from head hunger.

    Spot on....I'd add a bit more, but, girl.....you get it. I'm 16 yrs out RNY bypassed 200cm. I'm still thin. In reality, I'm not completely sure how I've managed to do it. But what you just said is what I wanted to say when I started my channel a few years ago, but didn't have the words to do it. Hugs. :-) Keep on, keepin' on. It gets hard, it gets easy...it's a "journey." (And yes, I've come to HATE that word. LOL)

    I've had my wls (gastric sleeve) two weeks ago. The 8 of september is my new birthday :-) The moment i woke up i felt great. Yes i had pain but not extreme. At this moment i'm only liquid foods allowed. The liquid weeks are the hard weeks i think. Today i had a rice cake and chewed it very well. (it was so nice to chew) Sometimes i'm uncertain because i'm feeling hungry sometimes. I hoped that feeling was gone after the surgery. I eat 6 times a day or more times. And i have to learn how much i can eat from now on. Here in the Netherlands were not allowed to drink carbonic acid drinks like coca cola. And they say dont drink and eat at the same time. Drink a 20 minutes before the meal or 30 min. after the meal. I really hope this is gonna help me loose the weight. And like you say, we can eat everything but we have to choose the healthy things. I like to watch video's about how people are doing after the wls. It keeps me focused. :-) Thanks you for this video..!!
