I prefer the POV setup. To me it has never bothered me as far as motion sickness or anything. But I am thankful any way you bring us along with you whether fixed cam or POV.
Love the POV view, please do some more in the future. Also, just be careful parking in grass, don't want to see you get stuck or get a complaint from a customer about tire marks in the grass.
Glad that a fire did not start. Please listen to my recommendation and get a 20lb ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher and vehicle bracket for the truck. Safety first! Not trying to be annoying in any way just want to make sure the truck and you guys are safe.
I just had someone throw hot ashes in a garbage can the other day. Do I usually need a fire extinguisher? No. But I was sure glad I had one when I did need it.
That POV mount is really cool, I understand the motion sickness part for some people but it seems like a couple people really enjoy it. It gives more angles than the fixed angle ever could. Thanks for trying it out!
I don’t know if you used this setting or not but the hyper smooth setting on the GoPro really smooths out the head movement. It’s what other people use and their pov content comes out really smooth. Great video!
You don’t whine or cry about it you say it how it is and then you fix it. I’m still loving these vlogs one because they’re interesting and two because you’re an excellent engaging speaker Brad. Well done on the steady growth of your clients too xx
I love the pov view! In CA trash companys have to offer recycling and green organics pickup and every house has to have a green and blue can. our disposal company EDCO charges $80 per month for a 95-gall recycling cart and $40 per month for a 64-gall green cart.
I really like the pov setup too, and would definitely watch it again if you made another. Maybe a good compromise would be to do the pov every so often for those who like it and the fixed mount the rest of the time.
Brad, one point of advice I have when you're double-siding stops is to not pull into the ditch. A lot of potential error as far as getting stuck and when you run the hydraulics, you have two lanes of traffic to worry about. I personally don't take my truck in the grass. Same goes for pulling into driveways. Just food for thought.
The tool/new product conversation is a great idea and best of all is the pov camera angle. Using a chest harness would be the best option, in my opinion, but the pov option is awesome. We get to see almost everything, differenr angles, checking equipment, interactions with clients and your wife, its awesome. The chest harness should be easier on you and eliminate some of the distracting camera movements but the positives outway the negatives. If needed perhaps have a 50/50 time split between the head/still mount options if the chest harness pov isnt feasible.
I thought the POV angle was great. But you're the one who puts in all the work and is dealing with camera setup and such so whatever is best for you. The fixed view ones are fine too. For recycling basically all your customers already have the option to recycle by using that free public drop-off trailer for recyclables at the landfill. That's fairly standard in many more rural places around the US. IMO if commenters really want your customers to have a curbside recycle option then they're welcome to get their own truck and try running their own service for recycling pickup in Baker County 😀
As I have commented to you in the past. As soon as you determine you have a fire in the body, you need to dump wherever you are. Don’t try to move to try to find some kind of better place. It won’t take long for a fire to disable the hydraulics and then you can’t dump. The fire department needs to be able to pull the load apart to fully extinguish the fire. They can’t do that if it’s compacted in the body and you can’t dump because the hydraulic system is destroyed. You would be responsible for cleaning afterwards but at least you would have the truck to reload. You could use a skid steer loader if you have one or rent one if you don’t.
Hi Brad, the gopro look I find really great. I can see why some people don’t like it but please do some more videos with it, it is really nice view and with that view we can see what you see and we see more of the surroundings . A tip: maybe buy a sort of picker thing so that you don’t need to lean in the thrash can for if something stays in the can. Because if I see you lean in a can to get something, I think: “Please keep your back in a good condition”. I think that it is bad for your back if you are going to get more clients / more cans. So maybe buy a “big fork” / trash picker thing. BUT most important, keep up the good work ❤❤❤. Kind regards, Broodje
Hi Brad, been here since week one of trash pick up and love your videos. I actually do like the POV cam more then I expected, maybe maybe in the future (I know its a lot of extra editing work) a truck mounted view and a POV view in one video would be an idea with then 2 cams. Also I enjoy the "new equipment" section of the video. Thank you for the content and have a great day!
Brilliant video brad. I like the pov cam please continue to do this angle. Also with recycling ive seen some councils here in the uk have different trays for cans bottles card and glass all separate so it can be collected into different bins on a lorry.
Love the content! I’d like to see a vid of you cleaning the truck at the end of the day. The trucks that pick up my garbage don’t look like they’ve ever been cleaned.
As someone that gets motion sickness easily the pov didn't bother me a bit. And it was really nice to see it. I think you should definitely do pov more often. Just mix it up. It gives us a better view on what you are actually doing.
Hey, this might be a bit of a wild idea, but it might be beneficial to get a couple of headsets that work as ear muffs and instead of using hand signals use the headsets to talk back and forth. Also like the POV better honestly.
I think since you do pull over on the other side of the road sometimes. to help people see you easier in the early morning you should get some magnetic or mounted, flashing yellow lights like you’ve had for the dump trailer and put them on the front so people can see you easier when they’re coming toward you when it’s dark.
Oh i waited so long for a POV VIdeo, can you maybe upload it the same as the asmr stuff, like onbe mounted and one pov if you dont want to smitch or so. If it isnt to much time obviously. Or like switch every few weaks maybe. The Pov style is liked by many. Its more interesting to see the stuff around the truck and not yust the garbage by its own. Good Video
I like your new tire compressor, seems to work well. I see your getting into your groove a bit more, nice! During the wet season, may not want to park that close to the ditch, or you might slide in, but she's doing great though. Now she can tell her friends that she drives a trash truck, thats right, cause she's a badarse! When I saw the white smoke, I thought a rad hose popped off, glad it was just paint! Yeah, lithium batteries are no joke, just look at California battery fire on the highway, recent news! Glad you are taking our advice for tools! Another awesome video, that I truly love, thanks so much you two!
If you have a trash fire you want a water extinguisher instead of ABC dry chemical. Look for an Amerex 240 model and add a cup of dish soap when charging it.
Parking in that ditch is just beggin for trouble, that's a tip over risk if steep enough, and high potential of getting stuck, and having to pay for a tow and yard repair
It would be great if you had bright LED lights reflecting on the both sides of your truck to give you full visibility around the truck at night. It would be great for your safety and for others to see you from a mile away.
I loved to POV shots, and I enjoyed the new tool segment. I feel like as your heading back to the truck you should be hitting the pack so when you pull up to a stop is ready for you.
The POV view was definitely cool 💯 You could always use both perspectives at different times. Like if you’re struggling with a super loaded barrel, cut in a little footage of what it looks like from the truck cam, or vice versa.
I would keep the POV camera view. It’s better for showing what the levers and buttons do on the side of the truck. Additionally, it is better for filming at night.
As a volunteer firefighter, I have worked multiple trash truck fires. What we always recommend they do is dump their load on the street because the street is not flammable, then pull the truck forward to keep the fire from spreading while the fire truck is in route. Yes it is a pain to clean up afterward, but it contains the fire and lessens the chance of it spreading.
I think I like the POV more maybe what you could do is you could do it how you did ASMR no talking and talking when you had the dump trailer but what you could do is one video is what we used to have a mounted to the truck and then you could do the POV if that that’s too much work you could just keep it to where everybody else likes but that’s my opinion. I hope he reads this. I love your videos. I wait every day and I hope no other storms affect you. Probably nobody cares, but my grandpa just passed two weeks ago and his name was Milton. I thought it was a coincidence
Awesome video! That is another thing to always be prepared for, a fire. Btw if you did have to dump the trash for some reason, you could use the dump trailer to clean it up. Keep up the great work and videos!
I know You have mentioned down the line doing a bin cleaning service now rhat you are not using liners. Not sure if your cans are getting super dirty yet but you could probably offer bin cleaning out if the back of your old trailer. Would just take a big water tank (300ish gallons) and power washer with some cleaning solution. Maybe you dont neesiscarily need a whole specialized bin cleaning truck to start offering that service. Simmilarly to how you started on a small scale with the trash pickup.
FROM LONG ISLAND NY, I PUT MY WOOD STOVE ASHES OUT REGULARLY IN A METAL CAN FOR 3 DAYS TO COOL, THEN INTO THE PLASTIC CAN FOR PICKUP THE NIGHT BEFORE. WELL ONE DAY 10 YEARS I LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND THE PAIL IS ON FIRE, THANKFULLY BEFORE THE TRUCK CAME AND I QUICKLY DOUSED THE PAIL AND BOUGHT A NEW ONE. DONT IMAGINE YOU HAVE MUCH WOOD HEAT IN FLA BUT YOU MIGHT HAVE CHARCOAL BBQ. THANKS ENJOY THE SHOW. GOOD LUCK
fellow trash guy here, most likely spray paint can, also batteries will pop smoke a bunch but nothing comes out of it. only caught fire once because of a computer battery. thankfully it was in my hopper and wasn’t pack to far was able to use my extinguisher and pull it out. and 100% always look for certain areas that you may have to dump a hot load, i have spots on my route everyday. Not only for safety but also for clean up and i have areas picked out without low wires or trees because i have a labrie ASL which has a dump body so that body goes wayyyy up. stay safe!
Looks like your getting much better at developing a system that works for your setup. I would recommend getting a head lamp so that you can see better in the dark.
11:30 Completely idiotic and absolutely dangerous to drive completely into the ditch like that. There’s zero traffic on the road there’s no reason to be so scared of causing a delay to risk flipping your truck or getting it stuck in the ditch. You have all those orange flashers and hazards for a reason. You’re driving a garbage truck the literally 3 cars that passed you will understand why you’re in oncoming lanes for the 2 minutes you’re there. You were so scared about driving on dirt roads with the trailer but driving the whole truck into a ditch is fine?? 😂😂
You should get one of the buttons to put on the back of the truck that so when you press it it lights a light in the cab to tell the driver that you’re all done and they can move on 7:16
Hey Brad! Loving this series so far! Glad a fire didn’t start on your truck! I can speak from experience it’s not fun lol. On my 2006 Peterbilt 379 the starter shorted out and caught fire. But luckily I was able to save it. Needless to say I got a few extra extinguishers after I got the truck back from the shop😂🧐
I actually love the poverty. Hopefully you can have multiple views down the road and mix it up throughout the video and stop. Like another has said. Please don't pull in the ditch area. You are asking for a roll over or just getting stuck and would need to call a tow truck. Cars will move around or wait for you.
I did look at my utility bill, and my trash is $10.87 per month. I guess I never really looked at it before now. I do enjoy my roll off dump trailer for junk removal and dumpster Rental. Good money. I keep my number of trailers so I can keep my inventory rented out all year around.
Hey Brad love the videos got a few tips for you if there only like 1 or 2 trash bags it’s quicker to toss them in instead of using the tipper and second of all when you pull into the grass of your customers yard what they gonna say about the tire marks wouldn’t it be better to just stay on the road instead of the grass my trash man goes on the opposite side and has his flashers on or sometimes he’ll just stay on the other side but sometimes he even just pulls into the driveway but stay safe out there
Brad, the thing with the possible fire makes me nervous for you as well. I don't know what it's like in your area concerning lithium batteries. In our market, the municipal trash restricts lithium batteries being put in trash. They must be taking to a special disposal place, for I'm guessing this very reason. My suggestion would be to talk to your local fire department, and ask them what procedures you want to take, if this is a risk. I think it would be reasonable, in my opinion, not to accept lithium batteries that could catch fire. Again, I would talk to others, and get what's industry standard in your market. I really hope this helps you! I want you to be successful in this endeavor!
Glad to hear you and the wife are safe. It might be over kill but like others have said I would get a 20 pound dry chemical AND CO2 extinguisher. Better to have over kill then not enough. You could offer bulk pick up for a few to help pay the truck off faster. Just a idea.
I have a Ryobi tyre inflator and even though it states not for use on commercial vehicles, it has inflated the tyre on my 3.2 ton van, but on the 4 ton minibus I drive for a job.
I'm personally not a fan of POV due to motion sickness but I think perhaps a balance of it wouldn't be horrible. Also think as others have said, a chest mount may aid in motion sickness complaints. Keep on keepin' on man.
I liked the POV . Also like the new tool/equipment segment as well. That negative comment is just your typical jealous hater troll. Anyone who owns any type of equipment and or trucks whines & complains all the time. It’s part of the business lol. As a trucker I whine & cry all the time 😂
Not sure if you have factored in your truck maintenance costs in to your fees? Please also take note that if the engine regn system goes down the truck could be down for several weeks. Th company I used to worked for operated your prime mover and we had in house maintenance team, and our trucks would still be down for weeks sometimes. Because we were waiting on parts for the regen system. So please do not over look that aspect. Other then that stay safe and keep up the great work and building this endeavor of your family’s.
Make sure you keep the battery in that air compressor topped off.Otherwise, you'll be greeted with a dead battery due to the heat /cold temp in the truck
Have you ever thought about uploading the voice overs only? I know you did a couple that were just working asmr style. I know that I would listen to the voice overs on my way to work and what not.
love the fpv or whatever it's called. I don't think it would be a good idea in the case of a fire to open the thing up, probably the best thing to do is dial FD, maybe spray extinguisher from outside, get the truck away from hazards, and just wait. opening the thing would just feed the fire
4 Minute Gang!! Please put the packer down and start tipping the can it makes things faster you can pack later. I agree trucks break and you just have to fix em that's garbage for ya! Great video enjoy it and I personally like the gopro look.! Here in Australia if there is a fire, 1. OPEN THE TRUCK 2. DUMP EVERYTHING 3. MOVE THE DAMN TRUCK (A decent distance away to prevent any damage or danger) REMEMBER The road doesn't matter what matters is you and then maybe your truck.
@@aussiegarbo752 those are great tips for a fire. But when you dump all the garbage if the fire is still containable then you want to grab an extinguisher and try to put that fire out, to prevent it from spreading even more.
@@FireExtinguisherEnthusiast Yeah fair in Australia we dump it and by then its probably too late the batteries have already urnt too much garbage by then.
Hey man, been watching since your first on the trash. If you need any help on future problems I now have a good understanding of a similar model to yours and I'd be happy to help out.
2nd comment. Have you thought about getting some stickers printed to put on the cans listing stuff that cannot be put in the can such as batteries, vapes and hazardous materials?. In my city of Colchester we had a bin lorry have to tip out in the middle of a busy through road on a housing estate after someone put a vape in their trashbag and it got crushed in the truck and set the waste on fire.
The recycling infrastructure is wild, in Australia we have massive building dedicated to the recycling garbage trucks, then local councils pay the disabled below minimum wage to sort it, minimum wage is like for a council job 30 plus bucks an hour but these disabled individuals get assessed and get paid like 8 bucks an hour. It’s probably one of Australia’s biggest disgraces to be honest, our council then introduced a new bin. Fogo food and organic waste just so they could throw an extra 500 a year on the rates as the previous mayor built a pool that ran way over budget. All be it the current mayor ain’t much better she tried to get the mowing divisions at the council to mow her lawn, which they don’t do. They mow council property.
Are you planning to post the garbage truck without commentary videos? I bet more people would watch those than the dump trailer ones. I like the POV angle.
12:15 You can cut the cuffs off cheap work gloves, you lose a lot of dexterity with those thick waterproof gloves and I only use them in the rain when the wet gloves stick to your hands. ✌️
I actually really like the POV camera. It shows us everything that you have to do when collecting trash.
Try and use a chest mounted camera next time??
@@tristanpolnerlannonyear5387I agree 👍🏻
I also recommend a chest mounted camera. I've seen other people on RUclips use their phone as their camera with a chest mount
@@ThatOldDuramaxGuy I use a phone on a pov chest mount.

Hey Brad love the videos got a few tips for you if there only like 1 or 2 trash bags it’s quicker to toss them in instead of using the tipper and second of all when you pull into the grass of your customers yard what they gonna say about the tire marks wouldn’t it be better to just stay on the road instead of the grass my trash man goes on the opposite side and has his flashers on or sometimes he’ll just stay on the other side but sometimes he even just pulls into the driveway but stay safe out there
I haven't seen a maintenance video, just a friendly reminder Don't forget the grease
I want you to be successful in this endeavor!
love the pov cam
Glad to hear you and the wife are safe. It might be over kill but like others have said I would get a 20 pound dry chemical AND CO2 extinguisher. Better to have over kill then not enough. You could offer bulk pick up for a few to help pay the truck off faster. Just a idea.
I have a Ryobi tyre inflator and even though it states not for use on commercial vehicles, it has inflated the tyre on my 3.2 ton van, but on the 4 ton minibus I drive for a job.
The POV really is tough to watch - you're right. Hey, thanks for the tool share. That Etenwolf is a great idea for weekend travel.
I'm personally not a fan of POV due to motion sickness but I think perhaps a balance of it wouldn't be horrible. Also think as others have said, a chest mount may aid in motion sickness complaints. Keep on keepin' on man.
We would love a timelapse of trash pickup or truck wash!
Not gunna lie, I enjoyed the POV
I liked the POV . Also like the new tool/equipment segment as well. That negative comment is just your typical jealous hater troll. Anyone who owns any type of equipment and or trucks whines & complains all the time. It’s part of the business lol. As a trucker I whine & cry all the time 😂
I like the pov view, I wish you could of showed you unloading the garbage truck at the landfill that would of been cool
I vote for more POV vs the fixed cam
Not sure if you have factored in your truck maintenance costs in to your fees? Please also take note that if the engine regn system goes down the truck could be down for several weeks. Th company I used to worked for operated your prime mover and we had in house maintenance team, and our trucks would still be down for weeks sometimes. Because we were waiting on parts for the regen system. So please do not over look that aspect. Other then that stay safe and keep up the great work and building this endeavor of your family’s.
Make sure you keep the battery in that air compressor topped off.Otherwise, you'll be greeted with a dead battery due to the heat /cold temp in the truck
have you thought of haveing another team with more bins out but collecting garden waste? that would be good to watch
Have you ever thought about uploading the voice overs only? I know you did a couple that were just working asmr style. I know that I would listen to the voice overs on my way to work and what not.
Also always check tote first if only one or 2 bags leave tote grab bags throw
The pov is much better and more interesting!
love the fpv or whatever it's called. I don't think it would be a good idea in the case of a fire to open the thing up, probably the best thing to do is dial FD, maybe spray extinguisher from outside, get the truck away from hazards, and just wait. opening the thing would just feed the fire
You can leve the PTO on in the cab kill button on the lever side of the truck push off .pole on you can us that
Try a chest mount go pro mount
@@FireExtinguisherEnthusiast Yeah fair in Australia we dump it and by then its probably too late the batteries have already urnt too much garbage by then.
love the vids man keep them cominnnnnnn
As time goes on you will work the kinks out.
MIGHT THINK ABOUT MORE LIGHTS ON PASANGER SIDE OF THE BED / AN CAB looked A little DARK GREAT VIDEOS
Brad could you post more videos so we can get caught up with the 1 month that we are behind?
I prefer the POV a lot more
My city had an entire fire truck burn to the ground. They are very expensive.
Hey man, been watching since your first on the trash. If you need any help on future problems I now have a good understanding of a similar model to yours and I'd be happy to help out.
fun fact at the rate of money u make per week your truck will be paid off in 2 years you got it have a great day
2nd comment. Have you thought about getting some stickers printed to put on the cans listing stuff that cannot be put in the can such as batteries, vapes and hazardous materials?.
In my city of Colchester we had a bin lorry have to tip out in the middle of a busy through road on a housing estate after someone put a vape in their trashbag and it got crushed in the truck and set the waste on fire.
once a year you should hire a garbage can cleaning business and have them clean each can
The recycling infrastructure is wild, in Australia we have massive building dedicated to the recycling garbage trucks, then local councils pay the disabled below minimum wage to sort it, minimum wage is like for a council job 30 plus bucks an hour but these disabled individuals get assessed and get paid like 8 bucks an hour.
You could try mounting a fixed camera to the lower edge corner of the hopper....this is what youtuber bulky crusher does when filming his videos.
You better get a set of tire plugs while you're at it, just go ahead and fix it and inflate it once.
12:15 You can cut the cuffs off cheap work gloves, you lose a lot of dexterity with those thick waterproof gloves and I only use them in the rain when the wet gloves stick to your hands. ✌️
I prefer pov videos
How much is one bin?
