Thanks. It took a LONG time and lots of tears to get through the entire thing. We don't look back on the costs 😅 We got enough for a 6x4 before the new rules came out. Can't quite summon the will to up it to 2 4x4's for our local tournaments though!
Thanks. Jason does a great job with his forces. We can't quite muster up the forces you guys have just yet! Slowly but surely one day! Thanks for watching
Always nice to see a battle report from you! Question: In the presentation of the NL force at the beginning the Contemptor is looking to the left. At 8:07 min. he is looking straight ahead. Haven´t you glued his head on? It´s very odd. Suggestions for future battle reports: You have said it yourself: Everybody and his dog are playing "Pride of the Legion". So why not think outside the box and do something completely different? Lets see an ocean of grunts milling across the battlefield like it is shown on the cover of the HH book Horus Rising. This means both players take 60-100 Tacticals. You might say now: Well, each of our particular Legions don´t have access to that many grunts. However this is not a problem. Both players will play with "Shattered Legions" so each force can be composed of Tacticals from three different Legions. With that thought in mind it will be very easy to fill up large amounts of Tacticals. When playing with that many models you might want to use a little bit less terrain to have an open field battle like it is done in WHFB. Another thought: Leave the Praetors at home and let junior officers lead the grunts into battle. The Praetors in particular are burdened with important paperwork and as a result can´t leave their battle barge to lead the troops into battle. In the grim darkness of the far future bureaucracy is still a thing.
The Contemptors head is magnatised. For the Showcase we only realized in Post that the head was turned... It's definitely and interesting idea for ZM force composition. We'll have to look into it. Though, mustering that many tacticals could be an issue for some of our forces. For praetors, we'd just have to have both sides agree to eating 2 Reinforcement Points for the one model then. It's doable. For terrain in ZM we try and find a balance between corridors and open areas. Due to the reinforcements from edges, new reactions and the power of interceptor we try make sure there is cover and line of sight blocking.
@@fareastwargaming No, I mean should you use a horde of Tacticals then it is advised to use less terrain on a conventional battle field. Squeezing 200 Tacticals into a Zone Mortalis board was not what my idea. It´s even counterproductive. And with the mixed forces you could show off the "Shattered Legions" rules. Not many HH channels do this.
With Zone Mortalis, there's less incentive to make shots with only 1 unit cause the reactions are so drastic. The moving during the shooting phase makes shooting very interesting.
Yeah the random objective value is not conducive to tournament play at all, but then again. I don't really think that 30k is designed for competitive points play like the other game systems. You can of course min max a 30k list, but we are FEW try and lean on the side of 'let's have some fun'.
@fareastwargaming I mean Heresy 1.0 was at least balanced enough that you *could* play tournaments, but people in my area still only did narrative events. For 2.0, you already need a bunch of limitations to make tournaments even viable, and everyone brings lascannon squads even then. Just not my cup of tea.
We've found 7 Reinforcement Points to be a happy medium, at least at 1.5k where we usually play ZM I wonder if you might try tweaking this mission to say that units carrying a Servitor can't react? It does seem like a problem trying to shoot them and having them just displace away. Displace is already so powerful a reaction it skews ZM games around it, having it also carry the objective further away from you is a bit harsh.
For the servitors in this missions, we had it so that 1 man had to sacrifice their actions and that the unit can't run. We try and spice up some of the games, but we can definitely refine the scenario.
What gorgeous armies and table, and what a nailbiter of a game! Thanks again for another well done battle report. Ave Dominus Nox.
Glad you enjoyed it
That ForgeWorld ZM table is BEAUTIFULLY painted! I want it so bad lol.
Just gorgeous…

All the NL units contributed. Great game!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent channel gentlemen. Subbed here in Massachusetts. Let the galaxy burn
Thanks for subbing. Hope you enjoy the future content!
Stunning Armies

Beautiful NL army

Ave Dominus Nox!!! 🦇 🦇 🦇
Kept waiting for that Wrath of Angels from the Praetor and the last Crimson Paladin.

Awesome game. I always liked War of Lies, it really is only a problem if you want to play tournaments, but for narrative events it was great.

I’m going to be assembling some Crimson Paladins with power axes, that AP2 is a must if they want to tangle with other terminators…
Agreed. AP2 on at least 'some' terminators is a must in a unit.
Listen, you don't need to preach the tactical benefit of squishing people in doors. The act inspires itself
It is a VERY fun mechanic.

22:22 “to protect us from the Alpha Legion” love it! They could be anywhere! Maybe the BA are Alpha Legion?
Yeah we never know where they were. I think they might have been on both sides 😉
