As French I would always advance against my enemy using weight of steel and numbers to drive them off. How the tercio formation is laid out is critically important to how effectively both ranged and melee can cover each other.
Have you considered taking a more balanced empire army with some actual Cavalry? I am thinking something like: 2 Wizard Lords, 2 Engineers, 2 units of 6 drilled stubborn knights, 2 units of 10 crossbows, 5 scouting archers, 2 cannon, 2 units of 4 outriders, a helblaster and a steam tank? Add then maybe an Arch Lector on War Altar with White Cloak? You have similar firepower, a few threatening units of knights to take out enemy support such as those pesky wood elf archers, and 2 tough nuts for the enemy to crack (steam tank and War Altar). Curious to see how you would go with a list like that....
Good job, have you tried a similar list with replacing the state troops with 2x 8 knights something like that and replacing 1 wizard with a gryphon general? That wouldn't be quite so cheesy and probably still good. Potentially a steam tank instead of a second hellblaster
Interesting list - I think it's very thematic for Nuln, so don't feel bad. The only slightly out of character bit are the mages - Maybe they should be replaced by pistoliers or outriders for something more black powdery? What do you think an equivalent High Elf shooting army would look like? I think that elves have a hard time because they overpay for their troops.
