You're welcome!! :) I'm so glad it was helpful!
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. Do you know if it is possible to for example, resize the dimensions of the tin? So if I wanted it to be taller? Thank you
You're welcome - I'm glad it was helpful! You could technically stretch it, but I don't think that would look nice. You would just need to copy and paste parts of the tin to make it look like it's taller...it's a bit complicated if there's a pattern, etc, though.
thanks for the tutorial, i loved it
You're welcome 😊

Awesome. I'm designing a beer label for a friend and would love to show the design on a can. Thanks Anne.
Awesome! I think beer labels are probably the most fun thing to design. Good luck!
When I double click on smart object it won't be open layer for psb, why ? Is there any icon able/disable to activate I should click?
It sounds like a glitch - maybe try restarting the program.
Awesome! Thanks for the great tutorial.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
is it okay to use a design that is not from adobe illustrator? i just need to put my made designs on the mockup.
Yes, you can create a Photoshop smart object too!
thanks a bunch
You're welcome!!
i'm lost at the 'save the .psb' and it's supposed to automatically update the design of the mock up? it doesn't happen for me. So i still don't understand how to actually replace the design in the mock up with my own
Hmmm, that is odd. I just tested this to make sure it's still working, and it is (for me). What version of Photoshop are you using?
@@GDHT I solved the issue actually. At first I was 'saving under', and that's why it wasn't working. But the I tried to simply to simply 'save', and it worked ! Thank you for replying
Oh ok! I'm glad you got it figured out. :)
thank you
You're welcome!
Will this work on the free version of Photoshop?
I wasn't aware that there's a free version of Photoshop! Do you mean Elements?
Hello, there are other mock ups that has this cube/3d instead of smart object thumbnail on the side. I don't know how to explain, but the one on the part where we double click and save. It's not a smart object. Please help.
I'm not sure what you mean. If it's a smallish file, can you send it to howtographicdesigner@gmail.com? I can take a look at it for you.
Not sure if you figured it out, but you have to use a clipping mask. Click on the 3d layer, then add a new layer. Paste your graphic within the new layer, then right-click on that layer and click create clipping mask. It took me forever to figure out so I just wanted to help.
I'm designing in Corel x7, do video instructions still apply?
No, it would be different in that program. I used Corel about 15 years ago, but not lately. I remember it being quite a bit different.
Can you please teach us how to create our own mockup templates using the 3D layers ? I have purchased some from creative market. Basically they provide you a psd file, with 3d layers that you can apply your designs on. I have been wondering how to make a template like that and haven't been able to find a tutorial on youtube!!
I used to know how to do that; I'll try to find out. :)
i want to know how i can paint the highlight color of red (as show on the vid) thanks!
What part of the video do you mean (min, sec)?
@@GDHT the icon what show/hide the layer, but i get it now, thanks for ans, and sorry for disturb :) grat videos!
@@moshdrunk9005 no worries; thank you!!
hello Anne, great tut! except there's one thing i need to clarify: does the image have to be copied from AI directly or can it be, for example, a jpeg on the desktop of your computer?
I think you could do a JPEG - but it might have a white background you'd need to remove.
Can you help me with this on an iPad. I have no clue
I'm not very familiar with Photoshop for ipad unfortunately...I'm not sure it has that capability.
how did you delete the placeholder?
You can select that layer in the Layers panel and delete it.
nice :) thanks
You're welcome 😊
Tks!!!
You're welcome 😊
How do you make a mockup?
It's a bit of a longer process - I might make a class on how to do that (but it'll most likely be on Skillshare).
Awesome Channel! Thank you!
You're welcome - I'm glad it was helpful!
Hi Anne, i would like to know how do you create a smart object that can be linked to multiple layer? Like i have 10 tins and a smart object that contains the artwork and changing a “master” smart object like what you do in the tutorial will also change those 10 tins. Thanks beforehand
Yes - if you use copies of the same smart object (option or alt dragging your smart object layer) to put them on the different tins, updating one will update all. They have to all be in the same file, though. A good way to do this is to use Artboards in Photoshop, so they will sort of have their own 'document' within the file.
@@GDHT thank you awesome tutorial
Thank you!!
great video - and you have great teeth!
Thank you!! 😅
I'm lost after I put the smart object in...then you say close it...how do I close it?
Just close that file
You can hit cmd w or Ctrl w
This did not help smh.
Sorry to hear that! What part was giving you trouble?
Thankyou so much, this was super helpful
You're welcome :)
Thankyou this was super helpful

Can this be done in Elements?
Yes, although I don't have Elements myself. I found this video: ruclips.net/video/6gJH0JJW2zc/видео.html
