I made this a few months ago but added cupuacu butter along with the shea. I also added hemp seed oil, colloidal oats, sage linalool, and blue cypress essential oils. It worked fantastic! My daughter suffers from painful eczema. 3 months later, thankfully it's all cleared up and she hasn't had any flair ups. She uses it at night after her shower. Goes on feeling greasy but dries into the skin immediately with no greasy mess left.
Your channel is a friggin’ GOLD MINE! I’ve struggled with DIY skincare products for so long, always wondering why the heck I couldn’t make my end products STAY whipped and luscious! I absolutely love how you explain the chemistry of your recipes, too. Thank you for starting your channel!
Welcome, and thank you so much! Don't forget to check out my blog (humblebeeandme.com) as well-I've been blogging since 2011 while I’ve only been on RUclips since about 2016, so there are a lot more formulations on the blog. The blog is also where my totally free ingredient encyclopedia and FAQ live, and they're both packed with tons of super-helpful information ❤️ Happy making!
I've been watching your work for a minute. You are a very multi-talented individual. Whoever raised you ought to feel very proud - hope you do too. You are amazing - Thank you for sharing your skills with us!!💝
I am sooo thankful to you for this recipe. I made this body butter this morning and it turned out perfect, so fluffy and light. First I thought it will fail because I had only unrefined Sheabutter, which still felt smooth in the test you specified. And I had only a common digital kitchen scale, couldn't weigh micrograms as specified in the recipe. When I started to whip the Sheabutter smooth, I realized it to be a very small quantity, so I doubled all the ingredients. Now I have to show it off to my friends.
I have not seen your videos in a long time!!! I love your new look! Not sure how new it is, but it is to me! Adorable and everything that you make is the BEST!!! Glad to see you still around.
Welcome back & thank you so much! I started working on the new video look at the start of 2022 but there's still a pretty big difference between even September 2022 and now :) I keep trying to make each video better 😄 The hair is since last September-I learned it's actually naturally wavy! 😍
I first tried Isopropyl Myristate about a year ago when I was working on my lotion formula to make it less greasy. I had previously been using tapioca starch. The Isopropyl Myristate was a game-changer! I love it! I'm going to try it in my body butter next! Thank you for posting!
Hey Marie. I really like your channel and your all natural way of bringing these great videos. I learned a lot from your channel. Keep up the good work 🙂
Nice video. The only drawback with refined shea butter is that it removes its "natural" healing properties. This is just good as a moisturizer and easy to make.
I appreciate your videos and detailed explanation. 1. I made my first whipped shea butter following the steps you provided in another video (using heat). Since the result was creamy BUT somewhat greasy I discovered in this video that when using isopropyl myristate the result is not greasy. Can I add the isopropyl myristate to a finished whipped shea butter in order to remove the greasy feel? 2. Since I am in Cancun, Mexico I am unable to find isopropyl myristate. Can I use isopropyl alcohol instead?
Great video! The recipe portion lists the oil in grams twice. I know it should be a %, but it shows it as grams. Easy fix! I love IPM, and used it a long time ago. I always look at the bottle & think I should be using that! Thanks for the simple recipe!
Hey! Great recipe! I'll give it a try - first time using isopropyl myristate. Would it be fine to replace the sunflower oil with rosehip or jojoba oil to give the butter extra nourishing benefits? TY
I have just read this: People should not apply isopropyl alcohol to the skin for any reason, as it can pass into the bloodstream and cause poisoning. Rubbing alcohol is better for use in first aid and to sterilize small objects or surfaces.
Hi there I really enjoy your videos thank you for sharing all your formulations and your smile is beautiful I was going to buy isopropyl myristate but I noticed that the number one downfall of that product is that it clogs pores and is not good for acne-prone people is there a substitute I can use
Hi! 1. Substitutions are always listed in the free partner blog post :) 2. The idea of "comedogenic" or not really is nowhere near as simple as religiously avoiding every ingredient that gets a "bad" rating on a comeodogenicity rating chart. Comedogenic ratings really aren't all that helpful when determining if a product (rather than a pure ingredient) will clog human pores. Lab Muffin made a great video about it titled "Why Comedogenicity Ratings Are Kinda BS " ( ruclips.net/video/-wz__FPq5kE/видео.html ). The title really says it all, but the general gist is: your skin isn't made of rabbit ears + the overall formulation really matter. Happy making!
I'm about to go camping a lot now that it's warming up where I live; may I request a video on rinse-free "soap" formulations (mostly for hands, but maybe shampoo/body wash)? I've looked at rinse-free products marketed for the elderly/special care & their caretakers, but very few companies list their ingredients for some reason. Is it the same concept as micellar waters?
That'll really depend on how much cocoa butter; it's brittle, which can cause problems when we want to make something that isn't brittle. Check out this formulation for an example that works: www.humblebeeandme.com/chocolate-cherry-whipped-body-butter/. Happy making!
Hi Marie, is isopropyl myristate rubbing alcohol? I have 91% rubbing alcohol bought from a pharmacy, will it work or is arrow root powder my best bet(I bought some yesterday)? I just want to see if I can use what I have on hand.
Hi, i am new to creating cosmetics and i would love to try and make this body butter as my first. Is there any substitutes for the isopropyl myristate ? Thank you in advance. I also love watching all of your videos.
Welcome! You'll find what you're looking for in the "Substitutions" section of the free partner blog post. It's linked in the description box below the video :) You might also find the ingredient list for this whipped shea butter (ruclips.net/video/Np88sQKPzI8/видео.html) more accessible. Happy making!
Are the measurements exactly what you are showing on this video? My measurements are way off and I have the same scale you do but something isn’t right and I can’t figure out why my measurements are off??
Visiting your site to learn what alternative I could use for a DIY body care product - BUT NOT SHEA BUTTER, the smell gags me. Dismayed when your first words were shea butter. Is there any chance you can still make a suggestion for an alternative I can use? Many thanks.
Hi, I'm new and I would like to start making body butters, and add arrowroot powder. So After watching tons of videos on different ways to make it ,,,but no one shows the brand or what type of arrowroot to add to body butters. Can i use any arrowroot powders from a grocery store or theres an arrowroot powder you recommend using. Help please
Every arrowroot powder I've ever purchased has worked for skincare, and I've never looked for anything specific. You just want it to be very fine and smooth, like cornstarch. You can also use cornstarch instead if you are feeling overwhelmed by arrowroot :) Happy making!
I don’t know what I did wrong! I followed the recipe exactly and it was sooooo greasy. Like gross greasy. I’m so bummed, could the isopropyl myristate have done this? I’ve made other anhydrous body butters and none have been this oily:/
I made my body butter with only cocoa butter, Almond oil and beeswax. It became solid and didn't whip. Looks like I should have used Shea butter instead with small portion of cocoa butter. Is it correct?
cocoa butter is already harder than shea, but adding beeswax is the total overkill. Yes, a mix of shea and cocoa could work but maybe find a recipe with the right oil-to-butter-ratio.
I'd encourage you to watch this video: Why is my body butter not whipping? ruclips.net/video/g3crtuxV2aI/видео.html What Tessie & Corinna have said is generally it-I've just got more details in the video ❤️
Hmmm :/ Does anything in this FAQ explain it? www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/ive-tried-signing-up-for-your-diy-skin-care-for-beginners-course-and-it-isnt-working/
No; using solid cetearyl alcohol instead of liquid isopropyl myristate (IPM) will give you a solid end product that is nothing like what I've made here :)
I chose refined shea so the final product doesn't smell like shea butter. If you are on board with the smell of shea butter, go ahead and use unrefined :)
I always link all the ingredients for any given formulation in the written version of the formulation in the free partner blog post, which is linked in in the written version of the formulation in the free partner blog post the description box below the video (that's one of the many reasons I highly suggest reading the blog post as well as watching the video! If you're not sure what I mean by the "description box", read this: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/whats-the-description-box-on-youtube/.). Sometimes those links break because they're always off-site links, or sometimes the store I've linked to isn't in your country. It doesn't have every country in the world, but it does contain all the online stores I know about. If your country isn't listed, that's because I don't know about any online stores in your country. Hi Marie. Where did you source that jar. I like the eco nature but wonder about the risk of leakage.

I enjoy your videos so much. Love the texture of your creams. Do you use raw or refined shea butter?
This looks amazing, I am so excited to try this.
Hope you enjoy it!

❤️ Cold processing is such a wonderful way to work!
Can this be added to the hot processed version of Shea butter? I’m using arrowroot & mine is lovely, but would love to try this instead!
Yup!
Where do you store the whipped body butter? Can it be stored in the dresser?

hi I have a question for selling your butters is it good the use 0,25% vitamine e or 1% vitamine e
Can l use isopropyl on hair butter?
All her videos explain why shes so beautifulllllll!!!
I never hear up my butter when I’m making my personal whipped body butter and I have never had a grainy batch

I've used refined & deodorized shea butter in this formulation precisely so it doesn't smell like shea butter. This formula doesn't smell like shea!
With the sunflower oil can it be store brought
Definitely!
Could you please tell me what carrier oil and essential oil have vitamin c please
None; vitamin C is water soluble. You won't find it in any oils or essential oils.
Can use that for hair please???
You can, though how well it'll work for you will really depend on your hair. This would make my hair a greasy mess.
I have an allergy to any type of alcochol , what can I use instead?
Please look up isopropyl myristate (IPM) in the free Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) for suggestions :)
@@HumblebeeAndMe Thank you!!
Would this not work with unrefined Shea?
It should work, but it'll smell almost entirely of unrefined shea butter.
That's great thanks, l love the smell of Shea butter!
Hi Marie, what other butters can we substitute Shea with?
Any butter with the hardness of shea. Probably mango butter.
Where do you get the isopropyl m from?

Wow, thank you for responding and for the information. I excited in my new soap and body butter business.
Hi!Can I use IPM in body oil shimmers?
Yes of course!
Isopropyl myristate is a bit difficult for
me to get. Will Isoamyl Laurate, which I have, work just as well? Or is i. m. better than other ester oils?
It's not quite as effective at reducing greasiness, but it will work. Happy making!
