    20:30 The already made tens of thousands Primaris Marines have been mentioned many times in other videos. That is where many disagreements with some Chapters comes from. They are space marines but not of their own training, culture and tradition.
    The only things they have in common is that they are space marines and geneseed of their Primarch. In all intent and purposes they are strangers forcefully given place in the Chapter.
    That is mostly why they also die a lot, they have very little actual combat experience compared to the norm.

    When chapters were first created, many chapters took on planets their original legions conquered as homeworlds, some chapters take homeworlds as spoils of wars, others r gifted them as rewards. Some, the founding of their homeworld is lost to history or censored, or as the video mentioned, some may opt out of homeworlds all together for a fleet based chapter. Some chapters choose homeworlds or have worlds assigned to them that have strategic importance, for example a newly created purely primaris chapter called the Dark Krakens had their homeworld selected due to being in a good position to help contain the mega Tyranids spilling out of the Octarius sector

      @@VithLiahain It happens in the War of the Beast book series. Basically when the teleporting Ork attack moons wreck havoc, Fists Exemplar lost their homeworld to the Ork attack moon. Handful of the Chapter survived and 2nd Captain Thane became the Chapter Master for being the most senior officer left.
      1st Captain was far away fighting Iron Warriors but he then allied with them against the Orks. Of course all other Imperial forces were not happy to see Fists Exemplar working with Iron Warriors and pretty much attacked on sight.
      1st Captain pretty much had convinced himself that this is the logical and best chance for their survival. He had to kill a lot of Imperial Guard, an Inquisitorial force and finally some Black Templars. He pretty much threw his hands up out frustration because no one saw how this was the most logical thing to do and joined the Iron Warriors.
      Near the end of the War of the Beast, Imperial Fists had been killed to the last man. The successor Chapters that were present, that answered The Last Wall protocol, could not let this tragedy to stand and all of the used their Space Marines to create new 1000 marines strong Imperial Fists Chapter.
      Thane having pretty much devastated Chapter himself became the Chapter Master of the Imperial Fists. They win the War and Thane learns what happened with the 1st Captain and Thane as the Lord Commander of the Imperium was absolutely livid and he demanded all records of the Fists Exemplar to be erased.

    • @VithLiahain
      @VithLiahain  День назад

      @@Staccet So what you are telling me is that the Fists Exemplar did not intend to betray the Imperium per say, but they did so out of the necessity for survival, but the Imperium did not see it that way, which reminds me a tiny bit of the Thousand Sons and how they did not intend to join Chaos but were basically backed into a corner and had to do it to survive, also I see a lot of events where records are erased to hide shame in Warhammer 40K

    aloof: not friendly or forthcoming; cool and distant.
    5:00 there is at least 25 successor chapters. Ones in this image left to right are the Soul Drinkers, Executioners, Black Templars, Imperial Fist, Crimson Fist, Excoriators, and the Red Templars.
    10:50 A WAAAAGHH!!! is just when multiple ork clans come under the command of 1 warboss. It's a problem for most planets but it's in general really dependent of the leading warboss. It can be something 1 company can deal with,0r it can be like Armageddon and require multiple chapters to handle. But in general, the Armageddon thing is an outlier. Like the book I'm going through now it was just really the 3rd company of Dark Angels vs orks and that would have been enough. So it makes sense to get reports that make it seem like 1 company is more than enough. But in general Space Marines never mobilize a full chapter to deal with 1 threat. It kind of invites annihilation like what happened with the Blood Angels when they attacked the Sin of Damnation and lost 950 battle brothers. Usually when a chapter gets under 100 I think it is, it's deemed that the chapter doen't have the numbers to maintain a viable gene stock and is disbanded. Either being absorbed into other chapters or they will go on some last crusade to find an honorable death. Pedro had to send his second to Terra to plead for the chapters continue existence to escape that fate.
    13:03 Man that was the dumbest.......So uh, fun fact, Crimson Fist is I believe the first Space Marine Chapter ever printed. Like the Last Stand of the Crimson Fist 8:17 is an iconic piece of art, but really the shot that blew up their fortress was some Looney Toons stuff. Like I have that book that tried to make it all dramatic but still, the missile went straight up and fell right back down the gun barrel of it's launcher. Feels like even Lamenters would be shocked how bad that luck was. Also rally bad fortress design.
    In general, a lot of chapters have problems with their implants which cause weird mutations or failures. In this case, their Betcher's Gland and Sus-an Membrane just doesn't function at all but the rest of the implants work fine. In the Raven Guard Melanchromic Organ which causes skin to darken in response to sunlight or radiation fails and causes the skin to be pale. In the Death Spectors, a Raven Guard successor chapter, that organ failed even worst and somehow gave them red eyes I guess. Really, all those weird chapter quirks are explained by geneseed mutations. Like the Blood Angels all being vampires and having the Red Thirst, that's another example.
    35:13 Celestial Lions my first army..............screw you Inquisition.
    38:54 Dorn could be dead but it doesn't make much sense. He "died" fighting pretty much scrubs and there was no body. Which the issue with that is compared to what the other primarchs survived doesn't really match up. Like Guilliman is one of the weakest fighters among the primarchs and he survived fighting Word bearers on the hull of his ship while holding his breath for hours. So, you look at that it's not really logical that Dorn would go down like that. But on the other hand 40K writing isn't consistent. 1 story a space marine will have a shattered knee, broken arm, and still manage to kill 50 armed and highly trained soldiers, another story 20 men armed with improvised weapons and 1 las pistol between the lot of them can kill a space marine no problem. So, GW can go either way.
    44:50 That depends on the writer. No chapter is really better than the others unless you take their pov where every chapter thinks they are the best. They all have their thing though. Probably should use this opportunity to talk about this here. A lot of older fans don't like the Ultramarines more because they have ultra plot armor and that's because of Matt Ward who wrote for a lot of codex and kind of over hyped all of the factions he cared about, and he really cared about the smurfs. That and Guilliman for the most part was a very boring character, but the chapter gets a lot of hate.
    54:00 Do the Crimson Fist care. Well I'll sum that up with a story from Rynn's World. After they blew up their own base Kantor was looking for survivors. He found some of his men but he also found a mother and her children. The issue was, he knew they had to keep moving at a forced march and no human would keep up with space marines doing that. However, he knew the mother and her kids will be set upon by orks if he left her. So he told her to try to keep up and told his men he'll probably grant her the Emperor's Peace (aka shoot her and her kids) as he can't risk his depleted force for 3 people. Few hours in her body gave out
    so he approached her and said, "You did well to bring them this far.... It is time that someone carried you now." and carried her the rest of the way. Good guy Pedro Kantor and by extension good people the Fist.
    But a lot of chapters care but they care with a healthy dose of logic. Like the Ultra Marines do want to protect people because those people need protecting and it's the right thing to do (unless the commander is a jerk which can totally happen) but their not going to throw away lives doing it. Just because saving 10,000 people but losing 10 space marines doesn't help if you lose the war and everyone dies as a result. Salamanders will lose 10 marines to save 10,000 people because it's the right thing to do even if they lose the war. So would have the Celestial Lions............thanks again Inquisition.

      25 Successor Chapters huh, to be honest with you, even to this day I actually never looked into how big an actual Legion used to be, and I had NO idea that a WAAAGH can actually vary that much in sizes and danger level, I thought all of them were definitely Chapter extinction level threats, and that explosion you pointed at really does sound like something you would see in a cartoon, since you would expect such military-oriented places to have more safety measures and stuff in place to not let one problem cause so many other problems haha, and I don't really know about the Celestial Lions, and I agree with you about the Dorn thing, the thing about Konrad Curze's vision is the only thing that scares me about it more than anything, basically saying that he will die, and I did hear about that story with the mother and kids before, but someone tried to downplay it for me and give some cold reason about why he really did it, but I do want to think that in reality Kantor and the Crimson Fists are at least decent people, and yeah I don't remember if I talked about it in this video or another, but I know about the Ultramarines caring about stability even tho they don't care about civilians in the same way, as much as, the Salamanders and Lamenters, but I still really appreciate when they do even a bit

    • @dagonofthedepths
      @dagonofthedepths 3 дня назад +1

      @@VithLiahain I think with Legion sizes, it depends on the legion but it gets up to 250,000+ marines. But with successors, it's more about stable gene seed. The second founding wasn't the only time chapters were formed so you can have successors that dwarf the original legions size at the end of the heresy. The issue being, the more unstable the seed, the more likely you get some crazy mutant, or the process just out right kills the applicant. Like the Space Wolves tried once but their seed is so unstable the chapter had to disband due to rampant mutations. In fact, if you look at the Lamenters, they were formed in the cursed 21st founding in M.35-36 I think it was and even in M.42 new chapters are still being made.
