Aleema Ali, from Bradford, England, was involved in a horrific accident at only 12 years old where she suffered 3rd degree burns to 55% of her body. That day, Aleema walked past the cooker in her kitchen at home and her hair shampoo caught fire, engulfing her in flames. She told Truly: "I just heard my mum screaming, saw my reflection in the window and I could see I was on fire." Aleema suffered extensive injuries all over her body which left her in a coma. "I just thought I was going to die, which is why I didn't attempt to save myself". Aleema was given only a 10% chance of survival by doctors but she defied the odds and made a full recovery. But Aleema's life had changed for good. She said: "The first time I went out after my injuries, everybody was staring at me." Over time, and with a lot of support from her family, Aleema rebuilt her confidence and began making make-up tutorials on TikTok which blew up and pulled in over 17 million views! "People just kept asking me to do more videos like that, just showing people that something like this doesn't have to stop your life. You can do the same things everyone else does, if not more."Aleema is now looking forward and grabbing every opportunity life throws at her. She added: "Without my burns, I probably wouldn't have started social media, I wouldn't have the level of confidence I do now and I probably wouldn't have achieved what I have so far. I try to look at it in a positive light and in some ways I'm sort of glad it happened".

She's just 17 , how mature she is
I was thinking the same.
Right ❤️
Woah I thought she was way older..she is very mature!!
Damn…she is near my age
Such trauma makes you think a lot about life. People who suffered a lot often grow up faster than others.
My brother died after a car crash which resulted in him having 98% burns to his face and body. I'm in awe of you. You're courage is unmatched and you're still absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely be subscribing to your channel. Keep doing your thing lovely lady, you're inspirational xxx
😢💪💪
So sorry for you loss ❤️
So sorry
I am very sorry for your loss 🥺🥺🥺
Your courage*
I can’t believe someone said “you should of died in that fire” that’s so evil!!
Life is beautiful and she survived that horrible accident....yes her looks have changed but she is still beautiful.
In my opionion, they probably meant that she's lucky to have survived a fire that bad and she took it wrong.
It's a good thing your opinion doesn't actually matter.
@@megscott222 yeah that could be so
Agreed.
What an evil thing to say
Just thinking about how much it hurts when I bump a hot pan quickly with the back of my hand and imagining that pain all over my entire body is horrific. I could not imagine the pain burn victims go through. She is so strong and is a true survivor.
Hurts like hell
people who have been through such horrific events and come out on the other side and still they have such an amazing positive point of view and they want to help others to stay positive and be confident in themselves I don’t think they even realize that magnitude of how much they actually are able to help other people... I’m just a normal average person, I mean yeah I’ve had my own struggles and have had a heroin addiction and pill addiction but have been sober since 2009 but otherwise I’m just ordinary but stories like these hit me so hard and make me so hopeful
Congrats on your sobriety! :-)
Yeah congrats, no one is ordinary. Everyone is extraordinary because noone's story is yours. I'm glad you shared it with us because it makes me hopeful as well.
True❤️🖤💚
❤️❤️❤️
Your story is pretty profound too! Not many people can get past drug addiction, but you did! Speak your truth and I am sure you will inspire many people as well. CONGRATULATIONS to you and sobriety!!!!
I can believe people can be so ignorant, what happen to her can happen to anyone she is so strong
Amen! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amen!
I can believe it. There's some really ignorant nasty people out there. You would have to have a rotten, evil soul to say things like that, especially to someone who is so beautiful inside (and out).....
I don't have a gas stove so no it wouldn't happen to me.
I would get in the shower and turn the water on, if get burned, but not 55% burned
Here she is having all this self love and confidence when I can’t get over my face scars, small butt, back fat, and shoulder stretch marks… I’m jealous of her confidence.
Girl we all have insecurities, but when we’re down we need to remember our value is not measured by what we look like 💗💗💗
We're all on different journeys girl. Hers just happened sooner but yours is coming.
Everyone has insecurities, seeing more than just the 'imperfections' is how confidence is built. I challenge you to look for the things you have that are beautiful, to remind yourself that beauty is subjective often, to face your fears regarding showing insecurity, look for clothes that flatter your body and make you feel beautiful, take care of your mental and physical health so you can feel as good as possible and also to work out (working out also can increase confidence).
You don't have to be jealous because you CAN achieve this level of confidence, but it will take work and time. I believe in you. You can do this
Back fat?
Same, I get fixated on my smile lines this makes you realise how much time you waste worrying about those things
I hope society can improve upon the way we treat people. I can’t even begin to imagine how someone can tell her she should have died. How messed up do you have to be? Most people can’t bounce back from such a traumatic experience like she did. What an amazing young woman.
And wonderful mama!
This story reminds me of a friend who had 3rd degree burns on his face after he was hit by a drunk driver. He also lost fingers on each hand. People in high school called him "crispy". How he remained a positive, sunny person after everything shows you happiness isn't a certain set of conditions, it's a certain set of attitudes. I appreciate this brave woman telling her story.
Sorry to hear about your friend, people are so cruel with their words. I totally agree with you about happiness. To go through something so horrific and have a positive outlook on life takes a certain special person. X
@@shaz2868 yes this is America especially growing up in the hood boy did you get ripped apart
People can be nasty even knowing what happened to that person they still want to bully him I was bullied at school for having vitiligo around both my eyes vitiligo is when the skin looses its pigment the skin then turns white and your left with white patches on your skin I have very noticeable patches on my eyes I also wear glasses I'm sorry about your friend he seems like a nice person
Kids can be cruel. Wish people wouldn't drink at all, what good has drinking alcohol ever done for anyone? Innocent people like your friend has to suffer for other people's selfish desires.
Lol is that a Spawn reference?
As a burn survivor myself (not nearly as bad) I feel for her. I had a electric pressure cooker explode on me and I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my left hand, arm and breast. I was burned through my pajamas. I had to have the burns surgically debrided three times and they took over a year to heal. Burns change you not only physically but mentally. I have severe PTSD now. Any loud popping noise sends me into a panic because that was what that pressure cooker sounded like when it exploded. It was so fast, almost like a bullet! It popped right up into the cabinet and then across the kitchen. I was lucky it didn't hit me in the face or hit my son who was standing right behind me. This happened in 2016 and I'm still dealing with the aftermath.
I've heard MANY stories about pressure cookers. People need to be made aware of how dangerous they really are. Thank God you're still alive & doing as good as you can be & that your son is safe!
I'm so sorry. Thank you for sharing your story♡
@@misslilpersian4758 Thank you! ❤

Such a remarkable young women! I can't even put into words how much I admire her! Keep doing what your doing, your the kind of genuine role model the world needs 💛💛💛
Her face and body tell a story. There’s beauty in it.
Couldn't agree more,it cost alot of pain and suffering for her to get her scars and she wears them with grace, beauty and I have no words x
She is a lovely girl. People can be so cruel because they are insecure about themselves or just mean. Those people won't get far in life but this girl will.
AMEN 👍 I don't get some people 👍 why r they this way,⁉️u know what I feel sorry for them their day is coming 😚😚😚😚😚😚
💯🙏🏾💖✨
*P R E A C H!* All those bad comments thrown at her are simply from insecure people or evil mindsets!
She has more confidence than those who haven’t been burned I’m too shy to go on tiktok
Me too I never even had the confidence to even make one so I never bothered downloading the app.
I'm the same but I still feel bad for you both. I hope we all feel more confident in the future! ☺️
why would you want to
Good for you. Tik tok has nothing to do with self confidence
@@Ma-vk1ys exactly
She has such beautiful eyes and an even more beautiful personality.
He hair is too,,,She still a lovely girl indeed⚘
Fire is my biggest fear. I’ve watched just about every burn victim video on RUclips, and I warn my daughter constantly. This young girl is a hero, I think about her struggle and find the strength in myself.
In the moment stop drop and roll doesn't run through your mind u just try to limit the damage u know it will cause
My mother used to apply tonnes of her hairspray to her hair with a lit cigarette in her mouth at the same time. Looking back, it is a miracle that the flammable vapours of the butane propellant did not catch fire (butane is an example of a propellant, albeit a flammable one, contained within pressured metal cans of household products such as hairsprays and deodorants, furniture polish, air fresheners, etc)
You are beautiful. Your soul is beautiful. And this is what Tik Tok was supposed to do. INFLUENCE in a good and inspiring way.
Agree 💯
Unfortunately tik tok algorithms rarely give people like this a large platform. The tik tok algorithm is literally programmed to favour young, conventionally pretty girls. Tik Tok is always swarming with predators too because of this. Its a horrible app.
I love tiktok and her live feed has came across my fyp before
Exactly what I thought, you are beautiful inside and out. You inspire me.
Je suis de france ta vidéo ma emu qu allah te donne la force tu es magnifique
She is beautiful inside and out, her strength is awe inspiring!
She's beyond brave❤️. Honestly one of the most inspiring people out there.
How can anyone be hateful to her? 😢 She's so brave and got an amazing character! She is strong enough to bear what's happened to her, we should all admire her! Bless her! ❤️
Finally another real story worth watching . Strength of character
I just wanna give her the biggest hug. Her perseverance and resiliency is admirable. Her beauty no doubt shines thru. Love it❤️
@One in A Millionaire⚘🌷 haha 😂
A beautiful, strong young woman inside and out. You’re truly an inspiration.
She's A Warrior.
She's A Fighter ❤
I really think there should be a warning that the lice shampoo can catch fire...
I think it is written or symbol is made but sometimes we don't read what it says on the package of anything
@@unknown-jn9wk I would have to look at a bottle, I don’t have kids or anything. I saw one when I was treated as a kind and I don’t remember any warnings like that, but that was like 30 years ago
@La Fa I have no idea
@La Fa I really don’t know. I doubt it. There is some chemical in the live shampoo
@La Fa Again, I don't know... I would google it.
It's a miracle that she survived this and the courage she has is incredible.
Her eyes are gorgeous and when they grab your attention and look into them you see the real beauty that this woman possesses. Her strength and courage to face this in a positive way is an inspiration to all. God bless her mightily.
She is a lovely girl. People can be so cruel especially if they are insecure about themselves, for some reason they feel better about themselves if they pick on those who are openly struggling. Those people won't get far in life but this girl will.
I have acne scars and some small accident's scars left on my face so sometimes I have breakdowns and cry. We women have tremendous pressure to have smooth complexion. You can be a little overweight, have small boobs, not perfect shape of your body but there's no mercy for flaws on your face. That's why foundations are ones of the most wanted products by girls.
In my eyes she is an incredible strong person. I wish the best for her and happy life without accidents.
God bless you always. 💓
@@hippyelise1 Thank you, dear🥰 God bless you too.
I have acne scars too and i cry when people tell me i "used" to be beautiful.
@@sexysophie4426 You are still beautiful ♡
Please understand this is not a problem ‘only women’ face. As men in today’s society we are judged extremely harsh on our physical appearance aswell
Its so humbling to see this beautiful woman be so brave and open. Having ptsd i often stay inside and alone, and to see her out living life being herself, is everything.
You should try it a little at a time ☺
Wow now this is a true survivor and the definition of a woman living life regardless of her situation. "It will only affect you if you let it" that was the best statement I've heard all year.
She puts herself out there more than most, so that really says something. AMAZING woman. ❤💪🏽
Bless her, when I wanna complain about my skin disease, I always say "some people have it worse than me". I'm always humbled.💯
I love how far she has come mentally. I wish her all the best. Keep up the strength! 💪
You ROCK girl! 💖
I'm sorry that there are such cruel people in the world.

The shampoo caught fire... Wow that sounds so scary. She is such a strong woman
I know right it’s like, I use shampoo.
Lice shampoo, they are often oil based like coconut oil.
Her beautiful personality and positive attitude transcends through her skin! 🌟
She’s truly blessed. She can still enjoy the little things in life we all take for granted.. and shes alive. Many times we take for granted even the fact that we are just alive when many are gone especially in a sudden way.
Thank you for not letting this stop you and for your bravery. Also to the many others that that have the same courage to go beyond and to help so many learn that they also can be strong. You are so very special.
It's so crazy that everybody talk about what they would've done but u will never know into your are in the situation reality hits 💯
that's why you always need a plan before starting. A quick risk assessment and that may have been avoided.

As for the negative trolls, once you start reading the comments and you see it is very nasty, please try to tear your eyes away and just delete. Try not to take it personally because these people are just living a miserable existence and their focus is solely on dragging others down with them. That's what they do all day long, just leave various messages for different people to make themselves feel better. They can't stand all the love you are receiving so they strike out.
Just do your thing and keep blessing the world!

When the friend is saying "I couldn't find a blanket or water to put her out..."
STOP, DROP, AND ROLL. Use your own body to smother the fire out.
That was her mom!!!
I was thinking the same thing
Or use the shower or shower head that she just came from as she just came out of the shower..
If she rolled on the floor the fire could have spread to her body etc the best thing to do is have a wet towel wrapped around her head to suffocate the fire to put it out.
It’s always easy for people to say what they would’ve done when it’s not you.
