I did Invisalign but could not finish it . I went to orthodontist paid for everything upfront and my mouth did not do well . I wanted to straighten my front teeth . I had extensive dental work already like 2 crowns , a bridge ,4 fillings , well one of my crowns ripped off from the tightness of the tray . My bridge broke and one of my teeth with the deep filling completely died they had to clean it out and root canal it . And after all that he said my gap would not completely close because in order to close my front teeth my side teeth would be squished together because they were closer together than the front teeth so I may have to do bonding. Invisalign does work just not for me with extensive dental work . And they state the risks in the booklet so I knew ahead of time . Unfortunately for me I did not want to compromise the rest of my dental work for two front teeth so I veneered all my top front teeth and spent thousands more .

Great video, very informative. However, something you fail to mention (and this is VERY important) is the lack of cooperation a restorative dentist might receive from companies such as Smile Direct Club, Candid, etc. when it comes to interdisciplinary care. Good luck telling those companies, “hey this patient has peg laterals and I’ll need an exact amount of space to build them up”. Their response will be *crickets* because all they do is cut corners and provide less than the minimum for care towards patients.

Would you consider this enough to not follow through with the steps if they were to allow my impression to be accepted. I do not have much work to as my mouth just very small spacing in my top and bottom front teeth and maybe just generally straighter teeth. I've never had tooth pain every day my life or anything like that and it take pretty good care of my teeth. @@davidsoulfan10 Hi I would say it’s very important that you have to orthodontist supervise the entire process, don’t just go on their site and start the treatment. The aligners are gonna hurt for the first few days and will feel normal after until you switch to a new tray. Of course, wear them as many hours as you can except when you eat or brush your teeth to stay on schedule. I’m currently on a tray that’s initially very tight and even my orthodontist had a hard time getting it on me, so that might happen to you too if you have gaps between your teeth. Depending on how big or crowded your teeth are, your orthodontist might have to shave down some of your teeth, but it shouldn’t affect you that much. While your teeth are moving, some might be more sensitive than others, so if you do experience that, try to avoid cold foods and drinks and stick to warm/temperature stuff. I’m almost 8 months in and my teeth look 80-90% straightened, so it’s going really well. Hope your journeys goes well! 😃

Cut the aligners if they are cutting into your gums etc.
Brush your teeth, use GUM between the teeth picks, use a xyletol mouth rinse (biotene etc) and put some on the top retainer and pop it in. Rinse some in your mouth and pop the bottom one in = your teeth will be glossy in the morning and almost impossible to get a cavity. Your dental hygienist will have little to no plaque scraping to do.

Just started Invisalign and, seeing all that is involved, I would never recommend the mail order trays. For me anyway, it wasn't a matter of just getting a bunch of plastic trays. While my case isn't severe, I still need to wear rubber bands to fix my bite as my teeth shift and will need to have my teeth shaved (shiver, but supposedly it doesn't hurt!) to make space for eventual proper alignment. In other words, things that wouldn't happen with the mail order trays. Expensive as proper braces or Invisalign are, if you consider that you can really mess up your mouth and cause serious dental issues that you have to pay a lot to fix,I think it is worth investing the money, even if you have to save up, to do it properly. I just want to offer some reassurance that having your teeth shaved shouldn’t hurt at all. I had mine shaved after my first round of braces (my orthodontist did a really nice job with everything). There was only a split second where my tooth became a bit sensitive while being shaved, and I think that’s because he kept the device against my tooth for a little too long, allowing the heat from the friction to build up too much. Absolutely no issues with sensitivity or pain afterwards, though.

The general dentist i went to missed pathology that my Orthodontist picked up on my first appointment. My teeth hadn't been contoured very well, i had gaps too. With the Orthodontist my gaps have closed, my teeth are so much more symmetrical, to an average person if your teeth are a bit straighter and it hasn't taken up too much time your happy, so you pay. Orthodontists do invisalign too but at least they know what can go wrong. These general dentists do a little course on the side and the invisalign company does a plan for them. Orthodontists don't need no plan, they make the plans. They have hospital placements and gain so much experience with complex cases compared to a general dentist. I just had braces for 6 months. I tried to call and discontinue treatment due to covid since I will be behind on my $200 a month payment. Although I enjoyed my Orthodontist and the plan to straighten teeth I hate the fact they tried to overcharge me even though what ahe stated was not in the contract I signed.
The receptionist at the office told me if I decide to discontinue, they will offer 2 options.
Option 1: Keep braces on and put my account on hold until my financial situation gets better. They will not see me for adjustments or wire poking cutting only for emergencies. So technically, I'll just prolong my treatment and have braces that I can't pay for until I get a job.
Option 2: Discontinue treatment and remove braces for a total of 2,200.
Like wtf? My 18 month treatment was supposed to be 5,200 so how is that possible.
So I decided to get a butter knife and pop them off myself. I scheduled a routine cleaning at my local dentist office and will be scheduled to get the adhesive removed off my teeth next week.
I am currently looking into invisalign or byte. As a 40 yr old female. I would NEVER DECIDE TO GET TRADITIONAL BRACES EVER AGAIN!!!!!

Yeah I mean it hurts and sucks, because your teeth are shifting and the hard plastic can scrap the gums... BUT, you can cut down some of the plastic and after the first few days, the soreness dims a bit. It's like normal braces, but without the whole metal aspect lol. Wear them 22 hours a day, don't take them out all the time,, although it can be tempting. Teeth will be sensitive with food, so eat softer foods until you get used to it. Just be careful with the aligners, brush teeth after food, and all is well. It's a process and everyone's different, but myself and my friends agree it is worth the money.

You 100% need dentist supervision whilst wearing these bracers. I'm wearing Invisalign and have pretty regular checkups and it's needed as the dentist will use a diamond lined strip of paper to make space between the tighter teeth as they move. If this checkup is skipped you can cause severe damage to your teeth and jaw.

DO NOT do Smile direct my mom did this so they give you a big box and there was these bags that’s were connected to each other and you pull them out the box as you go and they said not to open it fully just take the bags out. On the bags it will say like month one or week one and she was on her second set of them and she looked and the package looked like it had skipped a month she called them they said it was fine so she kept doing it. At the end of her journey she opened the box and there was 2 sets in the back of the box not connected to the other bags and they messed up her teeth bc of that.

One thing about SD is they don’t include Pontics in the trays. I started with a local ortho and was told they can insert Pontics in each tray and retainer until implant is placed. SD told me the same, but my trays didn’t come with them. Instead, they have a closed space where the tooth is missing. If you want a full smile during treatment SD is not for you. Returning my trays asap! Just wish Invisalign were more affordable, at $5500+ versus $2400 for SD. Dental health should be available like medical because they are equally important.

This is my opinion on Invisalign and other products of the sort. A series of same type of ortho appliances could be made in succession by a dentist with greater success that extrapolating future retainers from one initial impression. That being said, the cost would be greater but rightfully so, because the dentist provides far more service.
Also another thing I might add. My ordered Invisalign and there was in my opinion, an excessive extension onto the gingiva… which, due to swelling caused by the new appliance, interfered with the fit of the retainer. I reduced the material where then it fit.
It was surely interesting to see but I feel bad for people who have unsuccessful treatments or trouble receiving maintenance such as the adjustment I made to my girls friends retainer.

If the company (Invisalign, Smile Direct, Candid) allow you to review the design video, you approve it before they manufacture the aligners. That is not the same process as someone told me with Invisalign, in their case, the dentist did not show the video to them and have them approve, instead they just make the aligner they think will align the teeth and have you to use them. The results are that cause the gum to recede, the teeth to pull out of the gum because they try to protrude the teeth too much and the gum does not follow the protrusion. Be careful when you go for this treatment.

I’ve worked in ortho for almost 10 years and I know it’s expensive. I know. But this is your health, your teeth, and teeth must fit to function. The DIY will not address function. Save up, take your time, ask orthodontists for help with payments and options between braces and Invisalign. My office has corrected numerous damaged bites and discomfort from SDC. I know it’s expensive, but it’s an investment. Think of it as a luxury car that’s worth the cost. Your teeth are as important as a BMW.

I saw Dr. VU in Charlotte, NC, I went three months without teeth. It took forever to get teeth. Then when they got them to me, the teeth were to large and the gums were so high I could not get them in my mouth. Dr. VU told me to take them home and try to wear them I could not shut my mouth, this was in July 2018, on a Tuesday, Wednesday morning I mailed the teeth back to him. I live in SC, found him on line that he made these 3 g teeth. And everyone was bragging on them. Well not me, mailed them back to him. My Insurance paid there$1400 hundred and I paid the rest without any teeth. Only thing Dr. VU did for me was pull all my teeth. I am on my second set of dentures from this place in SC. The bottoms rattle around in my teeth and after I had the top in usual a couple of hours feels like my gums are swollen, and I have a gag reflex. 67 year old women that has took care of my teeth, had 8 or maybe 9 root canals. Wore braces from late 35 to middle 40s. Also my medical doctors put me on bone density medicine which breaks your bones down and then rebuilds them, but doctor failed to tell me it breaks your teeth down and does not rebuild them.
