I’m a current Invisalign patient. The biggest differences are that Smile Direct Club and Candid cannot correct bite issues, do not offer attachments (aka buttons) to help aligners grip and move teeth better, and do not offer elastics. I have both attachments and elastics with my Invisalign. Smile Direct Club and Candid are more suited for people who need only minor tooth corrections done. I love that Invisalign is so much more personalized and catered to your case. It can do more advanced movements than Smile Direct Club and Candid. Most of all, Invisalign can give you a PERFECTLY straight smile. Smile Direct Club and Candid can only give you a STRAIGHTER smile.
But I’ve seen ppl got there smile perfect from smile direct tho....it all depends on the person,I’m not sayin that smile direct is better bc Ik it’s not but I’m sayin it depends on the person tho
I started with smile direct. I went in and had the digital impressions done. Everyone was friendly, it was fine, and I was excited. Smile direct trays were honestly the most painful thing I have ever done. Each retainer was hell to get in my mouth. The top tray never fit entirely. So while they did move my teeth and improve a few things, at the end of my treatment, my top row of teeth were still crowded. The bottom row was much improved with one tooth still out of alignment. I brought this up to smile direct and they mostly said "tough cookies". I ended up going to invisalign to finish, and it really is a huge difference! You really get what you paid for. These aligners actually snap on, they're not painful, and I really finally see the results I was looking for this entire time. It's unfortunate I had to spend so much money to learn this lesson but such is life. I'm sure there's many that will have a positive time with smile direct (their costumer service team is very good) but in the end, you really get what you paid for pure and simple.
My older brother got smile direct and he always use to bleed by just putting it on, he would always use to yell while putting it on and I thought, is it really that bad?
I wonder if you could tell me exactly what appened when you told them you were'nt satisfied at the end of your treatment? They told me my satisfaction was guaranteed and i could get up to 3 others treatments for free to make sure i get the expected results. For the rest I have the same issues with pain and fits. It also alters my prononciation in the first days of each new aligner. Other then that ive got some serious improvements and unless I end up with other problems I'm happy of the treatment so far. Im 13 weeks down on the treatment of 36 weeks.
I’ve done both programs, and honestly there is no comparison. SD isn’t useful for complicated treatment plans where you need a lot of movement. You also don’t have the opportunity to refine tests during the plan. Yes, Invisalign is much more expensive, but it’s a white glove service from start to finish, especially when you want specific teeth movement like teeth to drop down AND de-crowd. I did Invisalign for a full treatment plan and two refinements. I got lazy wearing my retainer and wanted to refine again so I used SD. I may go back to Invisalign for my new retainer.
Thank you for telling me your experience. I, too, went for Smile direct club and no results for many months after use. It was very painful, and it was difficult trying to fit aligners as well. I'm glad you had a good experience with invisilign. After watching this video and reading your testimony. I will consider going to invisilign this mine around.
I believe he is correct. And he admitted that they work for mild crowding. It’s obvious they don’t work perfectly for everyone, just look at all the reviews. Anyone who thinks he is full of crap is wrong. He’s not just mad about losing clients/patients. This was a well balanced explanation. He didn’t totally blast these companies.
Just look at all the reviews? Pretty much all the reviews I've seen are positive. Smile Direct Club has a 4.9/5.0 rating and they're SIGNIFICANTLY more affordable than invisalign.
All I needed to hear was the little/mild crowding part at the end. I have generally straight teeth, but I’m very particular about my teeth. I’ll probably look into smile direct more since it is cheaper. I just want that super straight teeth look and don’t want to pay thousands extra. Plus, I’m in the military and they don’t just do brace/straightener consultations for people who really don’t need it. Good video in my opinion.
@@saintche3343 it has been working beautifully for me. I had a huge gap and crooked front teeth. My teeth were stained as well. They give you a whitening kit which is helping and my gap is nearly gone. I still have 2 months left but so far I'm satisfied with the results
@@TayleyGang you make an appointment. Mines was free. Go there and they do a digital scan. Took about an hour. I paid 250 up front. About 5 weeks later I received my 5 and a half month kit of trays/aligners. They gave a free white teethening kit some lip balm and a bunch of other crap on the box. The teeth whitening does work tho. Butbso far my gaps are almost gone and my teeth are much straighter . I have a month and a half left. To me it was worth it. Cant speak on anyone else experience. They also set you up with an online profile that shows the results from week to week on what your teeth should look like
Just started invisalign. I have regular appointments every 3 months to check progress. And the ortho is available if i need them (eg: attachments fell off, trays got lost). I believe I am paying for the doctors “labor” more than the plastic aligners themselves. I also have a baby tooth still there and was told the risk before hand that it might fall off. They took dates for my prior cleaning with a regular dentist and so much more information. Information and transparency to me is why it’s expensive and more effective.
just want to say THANK YOU for taking time out of your day to give this information FOR FREE 🙌🙏 bless your heart seriously. the average consumer needs to seriously do their research before getting smiledirectclub. Backstory on me for reference: had braces for 5 years (got them when I was 11, removed when I was 16). by the third year I was so over it and I was terrible about wearing my rubber bands and wouldnt for the whole 3 out of the 4 weeks between each ortho visit, but the last week I would layer 8-12 rubber bands on each side so it looked like I was wearing them consistently. Needless to say, that was almost 10 years ago I had them removed and after getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth grown in then removed my teeth have experienced moderate shifting overall still relatively straight and my bite (which wasnt an issue before braces so wtf) has changed to where its no longer a slight overbite or even an underbite, the bottom of my top front teeth perfectly touch the top of my bottom teeth, idk the actual term for it but yeah it only needs a slight adjustment. *WHEW OKAY SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG JUST PLZ BEAR WITH ME HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOURE CONSIDERING AT HOME ALIGNERS!!!* so I decided to look into aligners because I cannot afford nor have any type of desire to go thru braces again. I had seen ads for smile direct club on TV, youtube, social media (they have GREAT marketing) for the past year or two so decided to look at their website. Their website seems pretty direct and self explanatory and delightfully reassuring that you WOULD have trained professionals with you every step of the way and that if you did have any issues their customer service is always there for you. Great, awesome. But then I got to the part of their website with the actual patient reviews and noticed that EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. was glowing five star reviews. I went thru pages and pages of them. Immediate red flag. As a consumer who researches any product ESPECIALLY ones that im either putting in my body/will use on a daily basis and will rely on said product to change my appearance this seem odd to me, because you cant make everyone 100% happy 100% of the time. Its not realistic. So (and this is the part I recommend EVERY PERSON DOES, whether its for aligners or anything else you are putting in your body or something that will PERMANENTLY EFFECT YOU) I pulled up smile direct club on both CONSUMERAFFAIRS and the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU - DONT GO OFF THEIR RATINGS ON EITHER SITE TAKE THE TIME AND READDDDD THE REVIEWS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE because smiledirectclub had an A+ score on BBB, but I kid you not there were pages and pages and pages (I stopped after reading about 100) where EVERY SINGLE PERSON left one star and said how terrible of a product it was, their teeth ended up worse than it was to start, they ended up with hundreds if not thousands of dollars owed to a real dentist/orthodontist to just FIX the damage that smiledirectclub had done. Some ended up with permanent damage to their jaw. I would 99% experienced problems right towards the end. And customer service was nowhere to be found, couldnt get a hold of anyone. Multiple people said when it came time to order their final retainer (you order a retainer after your done with aligners) they did it within the time frame smiledirectclub says to (4-6 weeks before the last day that your supposed to wear your last aligner) nd multiple stated they didnt get their retainer until 2-4 months after they ordered it so by that time their last aligner (which is only supposed to last a week or two) was cracked and broken that their teeth had moved back already so the retainer didnt fit so they had to get reimpressions and do treatment aligners AGAIN and PAY FOR IT ALL OVER AGAIN. thats just one example. Mostly everyone said their customer service is the worst customer service they experienced in their whole life. Cant get a hold of anyone ever. Basically if you have any issues and your teeth arent moving EXACTLY the way they think they should, youre screwed. Because they dont take impressions again before your final retainer to make sure your teeth have actually moved to where they think they should have, retainers dont fit properly. I am begging you if you're looking at smiledirectclub please read all the reviews on both consumeraffairs and betterbusinessbureau. Its appalling how much of a straight up SCAM this company is operating. A lot of people who said they ended up with damage and sent all the aligners back, eventually had to close their bank account because they were still being charged the full amount. One person said they tried to block the automatic payments but smiledirectclub changed their billing name each time by a character or two so her bank couldnt stop the payments, which she said she thought they did that on purpose. Multiple people said they had contacted attorneys. Numerous people also said they only had issues with crowding or spacing on the top and then they ended up with gaps or crowding on their bottom teeth/vice versa or ended up with a bite issue that wasnt even an issue before!! Please im begging you just read the reviews. I didnt go thru with smiledirectclub so I can not personally attest that this is their business model, but if you have 300+ people all complaining about the same exact thing theres no way that can just be ironic and theyre all crazy. This company should honestly be investigated. Ever since reading all those heartbreaking reviews I feel the average consumer needs to be more aware and do their research before blindly putting their trust in this corrupt company. Once they get your money they dont care what happens. Please please please. If you dont want to read all that^ please READ THIS and look at the reviews on better business bureau and consumer affairs. Do your research. If you have insurance, get invisialign and go to a professional. Yeah invisialign is more expensive, but it'll be even more expensive paying over 2k for smiledirectclub and then having to get invisialign after to fix theur mistakes. Idk how they have an A+ rating. Everyone said their financing company is just as corrupt. Someone googled their assigned doctors name and address given to them by smiledirectclub (the ortho that SDC said personally customized their plan) and called their office directly cause SDC wouldnt return calls and the patient had major issues going on and the orthodontist said they werent aware that smiledirectclub was using their name and they werent affiliated in anyway. How is that legal!?!?! Someone needs to file a class action lawsuit. And someone else googled their SDC assigned orthodontist and discovered the ortho was no longer practicing and didnt have an up to date license to even practice. I wish someone would take notice of this corrupt company. Do the research yourself. Thank you for reading and thank you for posting this video and raising awareness. Thank you so much. 🙏🙌😭💙
Yeeeeeeeah, I went with smile direct and couldn't be happier lol. There was no way I'm paying $6k for invisalign for a mild overbite. Smile direct has helped thousands of people. I only paid $2.4k for my treatment plan and it's gonna take 4 months to be treated. I have no doubt invisalign works but a lot of these dentists are money hungry asf and will hike the price up unnecessarily to milk the shit out of your dental insurance.
Do keep in mind there’s a conflict of interest in this video. In the case of Invisalign, this orthodontist receives a cut of the revenue, whereas other services would provide him little to none
Yep, I spoke with my oral surgeon that removed my wisdom teeth and I mentioned smile direct vs Invisalign he replied "essentially two different names for practically the same thing"
I just found your channel. I had smiles, direct club aligners and and didn't help at all. And I spend a lot of money. I'm really appreciate that you told me this. Now I will go for invisiline.
I had braces as a teen and didn’t wear my retainer enough when I got them off, so my teeth shifted a little. I did SDC because I only had some mild crowding and it was great.
After having braces when I was younger I’d say Smile Direct Club is for people who have small cosmetic problems with their teeth. If you have an underbite or something more serious with your teeth I’d say Invisalign is the better option.
@@anisafreeman3550 yeah, I had a small gap that opened back up in the front of my teeth bc I lost my retainer years ago. I got SDC and it’s basically completely gone now.
Smile direct I went to a free scan yesterday. This is what actually happens. The scan is free and u get a 2 day trial teeth whitening, u get a consultation where they take pics of ur teeth then use a little camera to make a 3D model of ur teeth, they tell you in the consultation they don’t fix an overbite it’s for minor bad teeth, it cost £1639 (£199 deposit and 12 months payments of £120) includes all the aligners, retainers at the end and every 90 days u get assigned a professional orthodontist to see how you’re doing. After ur scan they look at your teeth and deem if ur a candidate for smile direct if you are u can take it or leave it all up to you. My advice would be to see your dentist first before taking it on to see if it’ll help you or if it’s a waste of time.
I did smile direct club and at the end of it, my teeth were straighter but I still had issues with my teeth. My teeth weren’t even that crooked to begin with. They classed me as a mild/medium case. But 3 years later I’ve had to go in to the dentist and get Invisalign to actually fix all the things smile direct club couldn’t. And yes I’ve worn my trays every day and night (even every night since my final treatment with smile direct club). I was super strict about it and even so… no bingo :( After doing both, I’d recommend just going to a professional/ dentist and getting them to do it. You don’t get diagnosed by a doctor remotely, heck they’re tentative to even give you general advise over the phone. So don’t do it for dental work.
I had scans/consults for Invisalign and SDC last month. I was very much looking to go with SDC, because of cost. They were incredibly nice, but it was concerning that pretty much everyone gets 4-6 months of aligners from them, regardless of particulars. My Invisalign consult was much more in-depth, with the scan, panoramic x-rays, and exam by the dentist. She mentioned areas that needed to move throughout my mouth, and a moderate bite adjustment. She estimated that I'd need 16-18 months of aligners to achieve that. I chose Invisalign because it's too expensive either way to do it wrong or halfway. If you have mild crowding or minor space issues just in your front teeth, I suspect that SDC would work well.
Things to also keep in mind: black triangles and the size of your roots. After I went to an actual orthodontist he pointed out that one of my roots is more shallow than the others after the x ray(something that could have caused complications if I went with sdc) I also need a procedure that will prevent the formation of “black triangles” after straightening, another issue that sdc can’t address. It is more expensive but it’s a lifelong investment for trully healthy and perfect teeth. And when you break it down you won’t be paying a lot monthly at all. I’m still planning on shopping around but I don’t think I’ll be going with sdc just so I can be sure I’m getting what I want in the end.
Just face it the only reason they don’t like these company’s are because they’re taking their clients. The years of scamming the average folk are over.
Not really. As a kid my teeth were growing on top of each other so I had traditional braces... People have a poor diet and pregnant women don't eat a diet with good fats for healthy children. So unlike my mom's generation where I can see people had pretty good teeth with mine there will be bad teeth overgrown because of poor facial bone growth due to poor diet.
If you want to fuck up your bite and teeth go to smiles direct. Invisalign you go to orthodontist to put on these glue dots to help you move your teeth and bite properly. Also smiles direct just scans your teeth. It doesn't even know what is underneath. I went for a consultation. I didn't care about straighten my teeth I wanted a correct bite. They kept saying yes it'll happen and it can happen in 5 months. No thx I heard horror stories. Maybe for very simple cases sure but not for complicated cases
I am a dentist practising in an entirely different part of the world, I am not affiliated to any company that makes any aligners so I'm just speaking as a dental professional. There is absolutely nothing biased about what Dr Maricondo said and it's all just the hard truth. He's speaking from a point of care for patients. He obviously cannot get that technical and share the science in detail behind his pointers, but let me assure you it's honest truth. Behind what seems to a patient as a simple tooth movement, there is a lot of consideration for the bone, the root, the amount of forces and their types and how to achieve them. If you go wrong with those you can end up with catastrophic events that go way beyond malaligned teeth into actually harming the integrity of teeth and oral tissues to put it in short.
Jamal Funchess everything he has said was true though... I’ve been using invisalign for almost 2 years, I was supposed to be done with it last summer. But I had to move duty stations so I stopped seeing my ortho in VA, and I only had contact via dental monitoring. My teeth ended up getting messed up bc I wasn’t seeing an ortho, so they would see how my teeth were tracking. Ofc there was the app where they looked at my teeth but there’s only so much you can see through a phone screen. I switched orthos and got new trays I see an ortho regularly. So imgaine spending all of that money just to have your teeth get messed up even more bc you aren’t going to an ortho..... it is a health risk.
Honest, educational review. I’m a current Invisalign patient. I don’t understand why people would risk their smile and teeth by going the route of smile direct. He was spot on where the impressions are the most important part. You’re not correcting your bite with smile direct, a dentist reviews your photos, but PHOTOS?! No way you can determine by a photo how someone can properly assess your teeth through a picture. A lot can go wrong, and you get what you pay for. Yes Invisalign is expensive, but I know at the end my teeth and roots will be healthy, seen every 4-6 weeks with the ortho, xrays, correct bite, etc. if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Spend the extra money and see an orthodontist in person.
Not everyone has bite issues though. Some may just have spacing or crowding issues. I've seen fantastic results here on YT with smile direct. Not everyone is approved for SDC.
There were a number of inaccuracies in your information, and maybe that's why dentists are afraid, because they don't know. It would be great if you would redo your video after really researching the new stuff so we the public can get an informed opinion. I am trying to decide myself between invisalign and SDC and it's way more than just cost. I hope you update this and I will watch it.
I got as far as sending impressions and photos to candid. they complained I wasn’t biting down in my photos bc my bite is bad. I quickly realised that I needed professional help. Turns out I need elastics and the whole shebang. Getting my Invisalign on next month. Glad to pay the extra $ to get it done right- you only have one set of adult teeth!
I’m confused on your first point because they tell me who my orthodontist is (Dr. Sims in my case)... 🤔 And they scanned my teeth in the office (no impressions).
I’ve done smile direct club 2 times. Personally did not work for me, SMC couldn’t fix my overbite or my back crooked teeth which was a huge problem for me. My personal experience.
I don’t know I mean I feel like SmileDirectClub is gonna work for me because my underbite is so mild it doesn’t even look like I have an underbite at all, just my canines overlap my top teeth slightly. It’s the most affordable option for me, and my aligners came in and fit perfect. My smile looks like it is corrected in the final results 3D smile. And SmileDirectClub does have a policy where if you aren’t happy with the final results they will extend treatment with no charge.
When was the last time a doctor refunded your money? you'll never get your money back if the teeth movement are not going as planned from a doctors office.
M C i had invisalign, and I was seeing an ortho obviously and I was charged 5k for mine. I had to wear aligners for a year and a half, I am in the military so I had to move across the country for new orders and had to stop seeing my ortho. I continued the treatment and my teeth were starting to not fit the trays when the ortho would tell me to switch trays via dental monitoring app. So I immediately stopped using the trays before my teeth got any worse then what they were. And the ortho told me that I needed to fly across the country to see them to do filing on my teeth. I was like “are you crazy???? I can’t just leave work whenever I want!” So I told them I’m just going to a new ortho and go from there. I wasn’t using the trays anymore, I had already paid the lab fee (2k) and they still expected me to pay for trays I wasn’t using!!!!! So ontop of the 3k I owed I was seeing a new ortho which meant I would have to be paying for new trays that fit my teeth bc the old trays messed up my teeth. I was in a bind, and there was nothing I could do but still pay unless I wantsd a bad credit report. I went on yelp and wrote a bad review explaining what happened and they erased all of the payments I owed them if I would delete my comment.
for invisalign i would've paid $8000 and if i had gotten braces it wouldve been $6000 I just have a overbite and a gap those are cosmetic purposes so my insurance wouldn't cover it i went with smile direct club; i know they wont fix my overbite that doesn't bother me the gap does and i have very slight crowing on my canines and i still attend my dentist visits with my orthodontist so i know nothing weird is happening overall sdc was a better investment because I'm currently very poor due to the virus and this is what i could afford while wanting to be confident
i actually have to get them redone, my experience so far has been okay. My top aligners fit amazingly but the bottom ones didnt fit in the back so im going in for a scan. If youre getting at home impressions i understand i did that too, at first, but i really recommend going in for a scan if you can. I saw my gaps closing around the second week (this is when i stopped wearing them though) but I saw change really soon! Also, I recommend not ordering your retainers unyil the process is close to being over (about 2 months) id say in case this happens#
@@ClarissaBergere I sent my impressions in the other day and got the email that I’m a candidate. I have an open bite and gap. The gap is the reason I want it the aligners
@@ClarissaBergere I’m literally only getting them for gaps and I also have overbite but I’m more worried about the gaps like you, I’d like to stay updated with your progress my first set is coming in a few weeks !
Hi Doctor Maricondo, Thank you for taking the time to develop this video. SmileDirectClub and the dentists and orthodontists who use our teledentistry platform share your commitment to patient safety and satisfaction. We'd love to correct any confusion or misinformation you may have heard about SmileDirectClub. SmileDirectClub provides an innovative teledentistry platform to licensed dentists and orthodontists like yourself who want to provide affordable, convenient and remote clinical care to patients that may have previously avoided care for cost- , proximity- or schedule-prohibitive reasons. More than 240 licensed dentists and orthodontists are affiliated with our network, prescribing and managing each patient’s treatment plan from start to finish and requiring patient check-ins at least every 90 days. We have a remote dental team available to patients 7 days a week to address concerns and questions. Patients receive remote care, removing the need to schedule frequent appointments in the middle of their work day or school day. SmileDirectClub has managed more than 600,000 mild to moderate cases to date. Our affiliated network of dentists and orthodontists only treat mild to moderate malocclusion cases. They require every candidate for clear aligner therapy to confirm that they have visited their regular dentist within 6 months and that they continue to see their regular dentist during treatment. The clear aligners and dental impression materials dispensed to patients are sold and manufactured pursuant to valid prescriptions from an affiliated dentist or orthodontist who is licensed in the state of the patient’s location. We do not sell dental impression materials in retail locations. They must be requested at SmileDirectClub.com in order to be prescribed. We understand how important it is to make a great “first impression”. SmileDirectClub has opened more than 300 SmileShops in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, Canada and Australia, where SmileGuides take 3D images of patient’s teeth using state-of-the-art scanners. The 3D images are sent to the lab and provided to our network of affiliated dentists and orthodontists through our teledentistry platform, who can prescribe and approve a customized treatment plan. In the U.S., we have a fleet of mobile SmileBuses - just like a SmileShop but on wheels! - to reach people that are 20+ miles away from a SmileShop. Our mission is to democratize access to affordable, convenient care. Together we are bringing access to orthodontic care to urban and rural areas, reaching many people who otherwise would be unable to access and/or afford treatment. We are committed to further educating organized dentistry and to provide transparency about our innovative business model and correct misconceptions in the dental industry. Smile Direct Club I did scanning of smile direct in March and Invisalign last month. They both claim the results based on computer tech and orthodontists. Even orthodontist is behind the scene I guess as opposed to Invisalign. In my case, I am not satisfied with the result of smile direct, but the result of Invisalign is much better than smile direct. I tried to communicate with customer service of smile direct and was trying to let smile direct professionals have a revised plan for me but they tried and told me what I got is the best result. Easy to see, it is not the perfect correction. Even the price of Invisalign is more than twice of smile direct, I ended up ordering from Invisalign!
Smile direct was great I went through the first 6 months process but I found out that my bite was off by a centimeter by the 4th month. They made me finish the whole 6 months then had to go in for refinements to fix my bite an fix a gap that they forgot to close. After the 2nd 6 months my bite was no better nor worse. They did a good job though I still love my teeth maybe I’ll get invisiline next
In my eyes I think many go to SDC because they were the first company, so they've established more experience. What worries me about candid is, they want a fee for their impression and you may be refunded if you're not a suitable candidate. Sure, candid is great as they claim they work with actual dentists. I'm thinking I'll go with smile direct club.
I just read that smile club only straighten your teeth but don’t fix your bite so clearly it’s better to go to professionals and get the expensive stuff.
182atenasb cheap initial = cheap results. I agree with him totally, go to a professional! An orthodontist has done YEARS of schooling to perfect their art, people on here hating on this man, are just mad they didn’t go the route he suggests!!!
Definitely see an orthodontist before committing to a treatment. There is so much more involved with shifting teeth than people are aware of. If done incorrectly there can be long term damage to your teeth which could ultimately lead to tooth loss, in worst case scenario. I wouldnt risk it. You shouldnt either.
I went to smile direct for an inquiry and they digitally scanned my teeth. I have an overbite and was told that there was nothing they could do to fix the crowding issue on the bottom row of my teeth. I was disappointed and I didn’t see the point in spending £1200 on just straightening my upper teeth. I would rather get both bottom and top teeth straightened at the same time and pay a bit more to do so.
And I’m not doubting smile direct however my main question was if I don’t apply the putty and allow the accurate timing for the impressions to be 100% accurate how can they obtain the correct 3D trays for me? Being that it was a lot cheaper for SDC I still decided to go through #Invisalign because through my orthodontist it is personal full explanation and detail and they were responsible for my panoramic x-rays and my full mouth impressions.
Smile Direct Club does do refinements..according to the Vloggers on youtube. However, a good number of them mentioned the "triangle" between teeth that sounds concerning. I will still go with orthodontics since either way I am going to spend the amount of time to do it and I would prefer the optimal result.
Annie Courshon Hi! I did the consultation at SDC as well but I’ve decided to stick to my dentist. I personally prefer to have the dentist check the progress every month, plus I’ve noticed that SDC keeps emailing me the promo code when I’m not ordering the aligners. One time the email even says they have shortened my treatment from 6 months to 4 months, which triggers the alarm in my head cause technically orthodontics shouldn’t be fast tracked
@@anna-michellecourshon505 cheers for the reply ! My teeth are like 90% straight so I’m only tryna fix a few gaps in my teeth, did you have any and if you did how well did they help in terms of that, did they close completely ?
I’m a young person that only recently started noticing my teeth shifting.... just went to the dentist (like, a day ago) and they said I’m a perfect candidate for invisiline because of my good tooth/gum health. Here’s the thing.... that single appointment was $300 and I don’t have dental insurance, so invisiline is truly out of the question. I ordered the kit from smile direct and I guess I just need some advisement on if I should proceed. Really I just want to prevent any further shifting that will be harder to correct.
whaaa? Where do u live ? here in Europe (at least my country ) the appointment is free, then u can decide if u want it and if yes u only pay for the aligners, monthly checkups and hygiene are in the price.
I wouldn’t advise going with smile direct club :(. I used them first and now I have to do Invisalign. It’s t was and expensive either way, but don’t pay twice to save a bit now. Also love, you’re young, don’t ruin the teeth that need to get you through the rest of your life. Go to the dentist, they study for so long for a reason. :) hope that helps
I did SDC. It generally provided what it said it would. My crooked tooth was fixed smile looks better. Wasn’t able to fix my bite issue. Took much longer than 4. Months. He’s right, I would’ve gotten more value prob from Invisalign.
Well thank you for the full and quick explanation I have had my panoramic in my impressions done from #Invisalign three weeks ago and I’m waiting on my trays now 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Watched the cbc news investigation on smile direct. Many reports of broken teeth, missed teeth, lisps, overbites. I would not go with SDC after that video
DON'T take chances with your teeth! Its not a new pair of shoes! Go to a professional! Not everything is CHEaP!! Think with your head not your wallet. SD put the responsibility on you if things go bad! Look at their complaints. I was considering them until I did a bit of research. My teeth are good already I had orthodontics as a teen. But I didn't wear retainer..I cant risk my health to save some bucks . No sir.
Does invisalign work with people on price? I needto get my teeth fixed but I don't make a lot so the price to go with a more hands on method is very intimidating.
My dentist is having a great deal with Invisalign ($3249). My insurance covered $1000 so I only had to pay $2249 out of pocket. They wouldn't cover SMC so which is a winner when they essentially cost me the same?
@Senny D RUclips vid has 5 things he wish he knew before doing smile direct club. He has issues with his teeth, overbite, and jaw alignment since doing SDC.
you can certainly do that, the only difference would be that the dentist would not be able to change the smile direct club trays. he will only be able to suggest whether or not treatment is actually going in the proper direction.
I am in the process of having a lower front tooth replaced after a crown failed. Can I use either of these products if I have to get a bridge or an implant?
honestly, your best option would be to find a local dentist that performs FREE orthodontic consultations. ask them to give you a detailed breakdown about your case, this will allow you to see of you need braces, invisalign or if any of these clear aligner companies are actually worth it for your case.
you nailed it. that is really the most important part of Invisalign. the other side of it would be visiting a professional. thats the other biggest difference.
@@janeth3008 Are you saying that if you go into one of their "SmileShop" locations where they do the 3D scan, they will also do more advanced aligners with attachments or elastics? Is that a fact? Is there additional costs for those services?
What if someone uses candid/smile direct to straighten their teeth to save money. afterwards, can they go to an office like yours, to fix problems with bite?
Smile direct hurt my teeth & cause severe headaches I won't ever do smile direct again neither Invisalign it hurts to much they don't mention the pain it causes your mouth & excruciating headaches
Huh? 20,000 cases ? What LOL , they're going to IPO this summer dawg, theyve helped out 600,000 people in only 5 years. Do your research like a professional
@@jacksmetana7932 more than 700,000 cases now. Says right on their webpage. Do your own research if you don't believe us. smiledirectclub.ca/en-ca/why-smile-direct-club/#reason-3
Smile direct is horrible!!! I fucked up by getting them. My teeth were not that bad like you see in some of these cases at all. 40 trays and 2.5 years later I'm absolutely done with them and super unhappy. They can not straighten my teeth properly and my bite is awful now. Starting my invisalign trays in about 5 weeks and I can't wait.
Hi m concerned about my teeth but don’t know if invisalign or smile direct club is good for me , my upperteeths are more outside . It would be good to take your advice asap.
I doubt they gaf to comment. My advice, see your dentist. Get feedback of EXACTLY what needs to be done. Take that info to every company available* then compare and contrast. Invisalign be like 8K which is ridiculous
I tried smile direct but was told it wouldn't fix my overjet. They were honest, but I tried it anyway. Now I'm getting ready to get invisalign but it's not starting off good. The 3d scan done at smiledirect was done correctly the first time. I had to go back a 2nd time for a scan because they didnt approve the scan. I have all of my teeth and they were having problems with scanning them. Also, I was told I wouldn't have to get any teeth pulled. Now they're wanting me to have all four of my wisdom teeth pulled. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt for now,but I'm beginning to wonder if they're one in the same.
Invisalign costs more than my dream guitar. I don't get why it costs more than half a year of rent. So many people have straight teeth. Maybe I'm just a poor US citizen and need to retire in Mexico, because I'm a pure blooded Mexican
I have a space in between my two front upper teeth and my bite is off. All I care about is for my gap to be closed. But I'm afraid my bite will be off more and cause problems if I go with SDC. I just purchased the kit to start and now this is a concern of mine. I dont want to spend so much with invisalign just to close a gap, ya know? But its just the bite potentially causing problems down the line is my concern. Other than the gap, I have straight teeth and I like my teeth. I dont want SDC to mess with anything else and create any other problems. I hope it goes well...
Smile Direct will take a professional mold for you in one of their offices for free. It's almost a third of the cost for a significantly improved smile.
Even after braces wouldn’t you need a retainer? Bc your teeth would space out again 😭 I’ve heard people say after pregnancy their teeth would space out again god pls no
Invisalign, way too overpriced. Just like in capitalism the price is set by how much customers are willing to pay not how much something is worth. Also my dentist gave me the Invisalign booklet along with a bunch of other papers asking for my signature/consent. Basically if you don't wear the retainers 22 hours/day the dentist accountability goes to zero. None. All the 4 or 5 pages were about patient's responsibilities. There was nothing about dentist's responsibilities or accountability. I'm sure if I ask the dentist they give me their sales pitch and a bunch of horse crap but they won't sign any papers. So read the docs and footprints.
Honestly, every dental office is different we don't have the paperwork that your dentist does. You can wear your Invisalign aligners for less time, the only thing is that it will take LONGER to straighten your teeth if you don't wear them for the full 22 hours a day.
Wilfredo Rodriguez It’s because of how accurate the molds need to be. With SDC people are doing their own molds- one of the most important steps. Molds are what the retainers are made from, so they have to be extremely precise in order to have a good fit for movement. Nothing you can do yourself or quick by a professional and expect good results.
I came here after seeing a lot of negativity in the comments of a Facebook post by Smile Direct. One thing made me curious; the official group repeatedly claimed in the comments that they had treated over 700,000 people. You said only 20,000? Are they lying? Are you getting correct data?
Honestly, unless you read their most recent S1 (SEC filing) you really won't be able to determine how many cases they've completed. this past year, they've made close to 360 million dollars in revenue meaning they must be close to 100k patients treated this year alone. I would say that the information is somewhere in between! hahaha.
I don't know how anybody can take the word of someone who performs one service over another and is trying to tell you it's better. Obviously he's going to say it's better! It'll make him money to say that. *facepalm*
Selina Arceo Yes! All this! Straighter smile, perfect bite , etc.
But I’ve seen ppl got there smile perfect from smile direct tho....it all depends on the person,I’m not sayin that smile direct is better bc Ik it’s not but I’m sayin it depends on the person tho
So they don’t help overbite ?
And Invisalign aligner company is the only aligner company that offers buttons, attachments, and elastics.
I’ve had both, my Invisalign was extremely painful I ended up just quitting all together. I have smile direct club now and no major pain.
@@rudythecat7320 you could say that about anything bias doesn’t get in the way of a good point and all of his points were good.
Just look at all the reviews? Pretty much all the reviews I've seen are positive. Smile Direct Club has a 4.9/5.0 rating and they're SIGNIFICANTLY more affordable than invisalign.
I have heard so many experts with your same concerns.
With my roots and bones, I will be choosing Invisalign.
Thank you very much for honesty
All I needed to hear was the little/mild crowding part at the end. I have generally straight teeth, but I’m very particular about my teeth. I’ll probably look into smile direct more since it is cheaper. I just want that super straight teeth look and don’t want to pay thousands extra. Plus, I’m in the military and they don’t just do brace/straightener consultations for people who really don’t need it. Good video in my opinion.
Ummm. I did smile direct club and they also offer digital impressions. I went into the office and had mines done
sleasy01 I just did today. Did it work well for you or have you just started using it
@@saintche3343 it has been working beautifully for me. I had a huge gap and crooked front teeth. My teeth were stained as well. They give you a whitening kit which is helping and my gap is nearly gone. I still have 2 months left but so far I'm satisfied with the results
sleasy01 how does the office work do they just scan ur teeth and then after do they ship ur aligners?
@@TayleyGang you make an appointment. Mines was free. Go there and they do a digital scan. Took about an hour. I paid 250 up front. About 5 weeks later I received my 5 and a half month kit of trays/aligners. They gave a free white teethening kit some lip balm and a bunch of other crap on the box. The teeth whitening does work tho. Butbso far my gaps are almost gone and my teeth are much straighter . I have a month and a half left. To me it was worth it. Cant speak on anyone else experience. They also set you up with an online profile that shows the results from week to week on what your teeth should look like
What is a digital impression
Just started invisalign. I have regular appointments every 3 months to check progress. And the ortho is available if i need them (eg: attachments fell off, trays got lost). I believe I am paying for the doctors “labor” more than the plastic aligners themselves. I also have a baby tooth still there and was told the risk before hand that it might fall off. They took dates for my prior cleaning with a regular dentist and so much more information. Information and transparency to me is why it’s expensive and more effective.
Smile Direct is best suited for mild cases. Severe cases are going to need an orthodontist.

Perfectly said
just want to say THANK YOU for taking time out of your day to give this information FOR FREE 🙌🙏 bless your heart seriously. the average consumer needs to seriously do their research before getting smiledirectclub.
*WHEW OKAY SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG JUST PLZ BEAR WITH ME HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOURE CONSIDERING AT HOME ALIGNERS!!!*
so I decided to look into aligners because I cannot afford nor have any type of desire to go thru braces again.
Bruh no one is reading all this. Not even OP
I read all of thid and wow. It confirms ny decision to go with invisalign
Yea I was getting that impression
Yep, I spoke with my oral surgeon that removed my wisdom teeth and I mentioned smile direct vs Invisalign he replied "essentially two different names for practically the same thing"
I just found your channel. I had smiles, direct club aligners and and didn't help at all. And I spend a lot of money. I'm really appreciate that you told me this. Now I will go for invisiline.
I had braces as a teen and didn’t wear my retainer enough when I got them off, so my teeth shifted a little. I did SDC because I only had some mild crowding and it was great.
This is exactly what I'm hoping to do
Do you have to wear the retainers for the rest of your life afterwards?
@@Kxmbae.Otsutsuki yes unless u get a permanent retainer which my orthodontist didnt recomend
Same thing with me
After having braces when I was younger I’d say Smile Direct Club is for people who have small cosmetic problems with their teeth. If you have an underbite or something more serious with your teeth I’d say Invisalign is the better option.
Benny2daBryant Invisalign owns smile direct club lol. A lot of people don’t know that
Matthew Richardson if you have really crowded teeth you need to be followed by an orthodontist
Matthew Richardson no they don’t.
Sdc would work for gap ?
I did smiles direct club in just a quick heads up they only work with minor teeth issues and I now have to go back and get regular braces :).
Would u recommend doing invaslaign then?
@@kadencaldwell right, she never really gave me a
Did it help at all, SDC?
I did smile direct club and at the end of it, my teeth were straighter but I still had issues with my teeth. My teeth weren’t even that crooked to begin with. They classed me as a mild/medium case. But 3 years later I’ve had to go in to the dentist and get Invisalign to actually fix all the things smile direct club couldn’t.
And yes I’ve worn my trays every day and night (even every night since my final treatment with smile direct club). I was super strict about it and even so… no bingo :(
After doing both, I’d recommend just going to a professional/ dentist and getting them to do it.
I’ve had Invisalign and had a great experience and great results
How much did it cost ? If you don’t mind me asking
Invisalign is 3000-8000 dollars
@@moisesmejia8057 I personally paid 2600 euro. But my insurance covered it all.
Actually they do refinements with smile direct club. They check in with you as well to make sure you’re progressing correctly
It's not a scam if they do their job right. I think you mean over charging.
Precisely
Don’t get smile direct they don’t fix overbites
Villasenor Melvisa you’ve tried it before?
This seems super bias in favor of Invisalign, it would seem more honest if you weren't affiliated with anyone and just speaking as a professional.
Invisalign is a superior product though.
Konnor Hegan it is superior but he is being biased because he makes money off of it
If you want to fuck up your bite and teeth go to smiles direct.
You said smile direct doesn’t do a refinement, but they do. And they also have 3D scans if you are nearby a smile direct club location.
Abigail Hart 3D scans are not X-ray’s. If you moved teeth with periodontal disease the teeth would fall out/need to be extracted. You need x-rays too
This video along with all the comments from first-hand experience were SO helpful. Thank you thank!
Not everyone is approved for SDC.
as someone who can absolutely NOT afford $7000 Invisalign amile direct works fine for me
There were a number of inaccuracies in your information, and maybe that's why dentists are afraid, because they don't know. It would be great if you would redo your video after really researching the new stuff so we the public can get an informed opinion. I am trying to decide myself between invisalign and SDC and it's way more than just cost. I hope you update this and I will watch it.
I’m scared about smile direct I’m gonna make an appointment with an orthodontist just to make sure I’m only 21 I need my teeth as long as I can
I got as far as sending impressions and photos to candid. they complained I wasn’t biting down in my photos bc my bite is bad. I quickly realised that I needed professional help. Turns out I need elastics and the whole shebang. Getting my Invisalign on next month. Glad to pay the extra $ to get it done right- you only have one set of adult teeth!
I did the same thing. Just waiting for my invisaline trays now
he’s not necessarily biased but he’s an educated professional!!
Bs any orthodontist I’ve ever met stand strongly behind their work
Ashleelala Smith lmao you can’t jus call someone’s claim Bs if it’s what they went through tho....
for invisalign i would've paid $8000 and if i had gotten braces it wouldve been $6000 I just have a overbite and a gap those are cosmetic purposes so my insurance wouldn't cover it i went with smile direct club; i know they wont fix my overbite that doesn't bother me the gap does and i have very slight crowing on my canines and i still attend my dentist visits with my orthodontist so i know nothing weird is happening overall sdc was a better investment because I'm currently very poor due to the virus and this is what i could afford while wanting to be confident
Has it helped fixed your gap

i actually have to get them redone, my experience so far has been okay.

Hi Doctor Maricondo,
Thank you for taking the time to develop this video.
Visit www.smiledirectclub.com/doctors for more information.
Thank you!
This guy is so biased and misleading.
Smile Direct Club y’all are a scam and make people’s teeth worse so that’s why I went through Invisalign and had good results
@Adz K 😂😂😂
Smile direct club are utter garbage.
I would rather get both bottom and top teeth straightened at the same time and pay a bit more to do so.
thank you bc they told me ''we can fix the crowding issue on your bottom teeth.''
When it comes to teeth, I'll pay a little more. For me.
@@anna-michellecourshon505 so whats your update with smile direct club now?
@@anna-michellecourshon505 thats good to hear hopefully i purchase mine next month, thank you for your reply (:
@@anna-michellecourshon505 how’s it going now ? Results?
Thank you so much 💓 good question which one is the best 👌 🙏🙏
I used Invisalign and it totally ruined my teeth. I didn’t have crooked teeth on the bottom and now I do.
Wow
Soo…. Invisiline is the way to go??
I did SDC. It generally provided what it said it would. My crooked tooth was fixed smile looks better. Wasn’t able to fix my bite issue. Took much longer than 4. Months. He’s right, I would’ve gotten more value prob from Invisalign.
Thank you! This is so helpful!
Well thank you for the full and quick explanation I have had my panoramic in my impressions done from #Invisalign three weeks ago and I’m waiting on my trays now 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thanks for the info. I was already skeptical of smile direct
A Watchman its biased info smile direct made my teeth perfect
Merk YT I don’t believe you
A Watchman ok then go spend another $2,000-3,000 on invisalign
A Watchman This video is very biased
Just check out some before and afters with SDC here on YT. The results speak for themselves.
smile direct offers both, in person 3D scan & tray impressions.
Did something fundamentally change in SDC their approach since the release of this video?
Thankyou ! You helped me make a decision ( :
Smile Direct Club has 3D scans also and do refinement.
@Senny D RUclips vid has 5 things he wish he knew before doing smile direct club. He has issues with his teeth, overbite, and jaw alignment since doing SDC.
Smile direct is now catering directly to orthodontists, would that compensate for all the downfalls?
What if you do those places and still see your own dentist?
you can certainly do that, the only difference would be that the dentist would not be able to change the smile direct club trays. he will only be able to suggest whether or not treatment is actually going in the proper direction.
I am in the process of having a lower front tooth replaced after a crown failed. Can I use either of these products if I have to get a bridge or an implant?
Thank you for this information
I wanted smile direct just to close my gap for my two front teeth but I will wait
So helpful, thank you !
How do you know if yours is mild or moderate? Big question.
honestly, your best option would be to find a local dentist that performs FREE orthodontic consultations. ask them to give you a detailed breakdown about your case, this will allow you to see of you need braces, invisalign or if any of these clear aligner companies are actually worth it for your case.
Isn't the biggest difference that the direct tray companies do not offer attachments or elastics, which are available with Invisalign?
you nailed it. that is really the most important part of Invisalign. the other side of it would be visiting a professional. thats the other biggest difference.
SDC do offer attachments in their stores. Incorrect information.
@@janeth3008 Are you saying that if you go into one of their "SmileShop" locations where they do the 3D scan, they will also do more advanced aligners with attachments or elastics? Is that a fact? Is there additional costs for those services?
@@mikeyfl Yes, they do attachments.
Elastic's would be for traditional braces.
@@janeth3008 Good to know, thanks. Invisalign does offer elastics for when needed... Like in my case. 😁

Wish I saw this before I ordered an impression kit...
Great video! Tysm!
You do get 2 tries of free refinement after your initial treatment with sdc
I’m on the 4th refinement. Just depends on how assertive you are.
Invisalign costs more than my dream guitar. I don't get why it costs more than half a year of rent. So many people have straight teeth. Maybe I'm just a poor US citizen and need to retire in Mexico, because I'm a pure blooded Mexican

Don't invisalign own like 10% of SDC??
Not anymore. they got in a recent lawsuit and SDC made invisalign sell their shares

I hope it goes well...
hey how did it go with SDC? I have a gap on top teeth and little bit on the bottom and i also have overbite as well.
Smile Direct will take a professional mold for you in one of their offices for free. It's almost a third of the cost for a significantly improved smile.
But I heard from a lot of people it doesn't fix overbites which is what I have PLUS Crooked teeth
Even after braces wouldn’t you need a retainer? Bc your teeth would space out again 😭 I’ve heard people say after pregnancy their teeth would space out again god pls no
Smile Direct was trash for me. They created a bunch of gaps in their 3D video model, all I wanted was to close one gap.
Sonya Williams They don’t create the gaps it’s a scan of what your teeth look like...
CGM Rugrat No in the “what you’re teeth will look like at the end” video they made gaps in all my teeth.
I’ve heard that a lot, people who never had gaps in their teeth, got them with SDC
I’m surprised he didn’t mention the buttons that are placed on your teeth.
Elon he did are u deaf
Comments sounds more interesting than video
Lmao
Great info. Appriciate it.
"It took me years to take good impressions" Years?!?! Really?!?! That says more about you than them.
"That makes me concerned" Hahaha. He cute doe.
*facepalm*
