    Help, I have brain matter all over my screen. MIND BLOWN. Seriously, MIND is not the same. While this idea was intended to encourage those for art projects, labeling etc., I plan to use the technique in restoration of instrument dials. Gratitude 100 fold. thank you SOOO MUCH!

    I had a home economics teacher in junior high that taught us how to do that. Contact paper also works. You do it exactly the same way. The fun thing about it is it can be decoupaged. I used to do calligraphy and then make stickers with it. You can make labels for jars, all kinds of things in your own handwriting. Another use for it is to make the sticker, then put it on a surface and use it for tracing. so, for instance, if you wanted to etch glass you could do this and use it for a template.

    I use packing tape when I punch out my very intricate butterflies. Where the holes and slits are in the wings I put the butterflies on packing tape and lightly dust them with different colors of very fine glitter. Then with my cutter bee sissors I carefully cut out the butterflies and then I use them to make my own stationary. I have never seen this done elsewhere. I just thought of it about 5 years ago. I am sure someone has done this already.
    I cannot afford a cameo or a cricket so I am thrilled to learn how to make my own transfers. This will be nice to use with my own logo which right now is in a rubber stamp form. This is awesome cannot wait to try.

Dip your finger in water and start rubb gently the paper of. And when the paper is all of, only the picture is remaining on the surface. True, you cannot buy a printer at the dollar store but the point is
      you cannot buy the decal material for only $4 anywhere nor can you get it at the dollar store nor do you need to go through this many steps to do this.
      If you choose to do it this way
      you must be aware that the tape will get destroyed over time by the candle heat and still overtime without any candle by just existence it will eventually bubble and peel and will soon start collecting dust around the sticky edges of the tape.

    TY for sharing this technique. I have a suggestion, though which you may have thought of already ... instead of making just one "image" at a time, make several on the same slip or piece of paper. Then, when you lay down the strips of tape, you won't be wasting much if any tape and paper. Also, can you make the "stickers" days in advance to maybe use at a later time or give them as gifts to people who like stickers ? And, I know how that the whole image would be affected, but, can you place multiple layers of tape on larger images ? Thank you for your advice.

      I've done that. I put multiple images on the page lined up. And I cut off just enough tape to cover what will he the actual sticker image. I also had a large image where I put two strips and match them up on the item once finished. Also if you soak the paper and then burnish the ink areas, then the paper in the white ates doesn't stick, and you only have to scrape from behind the black ink areas.

    • @JustUsInBaja
      @JustUsInBaja 2 года назад

      If you don't have a heavy enough bit of paper, the tape will pull the piece up against itself, usually not where you want it to be or with a fold. I made labels I wanted just to tape onto things and had that problem. Though you might have success if you held the small graphic onto a surface with tape placed beyond the edge of the trim portion before you covered it with the packing tape.

      @@jenn4393 I had used photos and pictures from books and magazines for my pictures. You need to paint a couple of good coats of the mod podge over the front of the image and let it dry completely. Then do as in the video - soak in warm water before rubbing the paper off the back. Paint a layer of mod podge were you want to put the image place it on the wet mod podge, smoothing it out. To make it more lasting paint a coat of mod podge over the image as well after it is adhered to surface.

    Does the tape lift eventually ? And Can you dishwash it? For mugs and such

    • @llovley
      @llovley 2 года назад +3

      I definitely wouldn't trust it in the dishwasher. If you're curious I would put a piece of packing tape on a mug you don't necessarily care too much about. Run it through the dishwasher a few times and see how it is after it comes out of the dishwasher. I definitely wouldn't put a heat cycle on there though to dry them. I think the best idea would just be hand washing them for durability and for the decal to last longer.

    • @DawnDavidson
      @DawnDavidson 2 года назад

      Yeah, my concern was that, on that oil dispenser one, I use oil to take adhesive off (when peeling price stickers off things, for instance.) So I wouldn’t put it on that oil bottle at all!
      The rest, yeah, it’ll probably work. But I am with the other commenter that I’d probably use this on things that don’t need to be washed at all, and most certainly hand wash - very carefully! - things that need washing. I’d probably put a coat of clear sealer on over it as well, as long as that didn’t ruin the image.

    • @Metqa
      @Metqa 2 года назад

      @@DawnDavidson I put it on my dish soap bottle, and it's been under running water many times. I think if you press it down firmly when you apply it, it should stay a long while. Most labels are paper with adhesive, but this is plastic tape, so water won't soften it from the outside. Heat from a dishwasher might though.... Oil may loosen it, but it'd have to get under an edge first, so apply the sticker and buff it down well all around all the eges, and you might not have to replace it for months.

      Thank you for asking this! In every example shown when she got to the final step it just said "apply your -." After the second one, I was yelling at the screen..."apply it how??!!!" Aggghh. do you rub in onto the surface of your choice or are you just sticking the entire tape and all to the surface.

    • @Metqa
      @Metqa 2 года назад

      You just stick it on like the packing tape that it is. This is not a cricut tutorial. You are not transferring the ink separately. The ink is sticking to the tape, you are removing the paper, and you are sticking the entire piece of tape, with the ink, onto your item, and leaving it there, as it it were a clear sticker with words/designs on it. That is why you trim it to the size of the surface you will apply it to, because you don't want or need excess hanging off. It is literally a clear sticker made of tape
