Very late 80s or early 90s I was really young and saw them perform at Hersheypark in Hershey PA, seems like it might be one of my earliest memories and molded my musical tastes.
Flippin' fantastic. Bruthas are absolutely cooking here. Their voices today sound virile and potent... their harmonies warm and convincing. Bravo, ragazzi.
When you stop and think about it...these guys and so many other artists of that era didn't have all the fancy production tools that are used now to "enhance" the music. The message here was clear and simple. No profanity, no degrading of others, nothing that I would be embarrassed to let my kids listen to. This is pure talent and imagination. How very unlike a lot of the noise that kids today think is "music".
Bill Burkette former lead singer of the Pittsburgh singing group The Vogues and singing lead here (5 o'clock World, My Special Angel, Turn Around Look At Me) died on March 1, 2018. Nice to see the video!
@@chrisput1024 Bill Burdette (Lead vocals) and Hugh Geyer (yodeler) are from the original Vogues. The gent in the middle is Troy Elich, he owns the trademark to the name "The Vogues" since his dad Stan passed away. On a side note, Troy worked driving hotel shuttle while I was assistant manager of the hotel.
I am so impressed at how good they still sound after all these years. This was one of the best songs to come out of the sixties, and they made it sound still so refreshing today. Great band!!
listening to this beautiful song takes me back many years ago when I did work at Zenith Radio Corp.at one of their factories production lines tv's sets for 75 cents per hour in Chicago. and when the whistle blew!!!!! .....at 5 pm everyone was so happy rushing to punch out the time card. It was so joyful and great. for me it had been the greatest experience that drove myself to get better and more enjoyable jobs with higher pay. Left that job shortly after and I started working for an International Airline at O'Hare Airport as a Passenger Service Agent.
Loved thew Vogues. I remember Five O'Clock World and it brings a tear to my eye on learning of the passing of Bill Burkette. Loved Hughy Geyer's tenor voice. The voices of the other two lads complemented of Bill and Hugh. I wish I could turn back the clock. RIP Bill. God Bless your dear soul and may His Perpetual Light shine upon you. Thanks for the wonderful music.
I see this and I get so happy and sad ; they were and always will be a force to be reckoned with but with all things age and time just cannot be ignored ; luv ya all so much !
I still remember this hit blasting across my Transistor radio in 65 as a 12 year old.. feelin good and singing it🙏🙏🙏Rip all those that have gone before us!,,
I love this song. The first time I heard it was in a movie called "Gunn" which was a movie adapted from the "Peter Gunn" TV series. There was a party celebrating the reopening of a bar that had gotten bombed earlier in the movie and The band was pplaying Five O' Clock World. The next time was the opening of their second season with the cast acting out the song. I think that hepled bring the song back to a wider audience.
They still sound Great!! Hugh Geyer's distinctive vocal abilities along with the great harmonies of the group made the Vogues special. RIP Bill Burkette.
@@jimcannon1162 Thank you. When I first heard this song,I thought these guys were British whose artists were dominating the charts at the time after the Beatles & Sones hit.
It’s 10/3/24 in Austin, Tx! Great song! Seniors were great in ‘68! Sorry your city and state got hit by Hurricane Helene last week! Terrible damage and loss of lives! I’m 75 and still rockin’ to the ‘60s today🥳🎶
The Vogues are from Turtle Creek PA. I'm from a short car ride from there, outside Pittsburgh.
Many great sounding singing groups from Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and cities of the great state.
The Vogues have been my favorite singing group since I was a teenager. Top notch entertainment.

Agree with you so much on that.
People been using studio enhancement for decades
Nice song! Always liked it!
Well said -- I couldn't agree with you more!
There was always some sound engineering, but you generally had to have actual talent in those days.
This is good. You never lose your talent. It's a gift from God.
They aren't the original Vogues....they are the "legal" Vogues
One the coolest and most sophisticated songs ever!
Oh absolutely yes to that.
Thanks Hugo!@@hugohackenbush3524
Still one of the greatest songs of the 60's. Vogues did a great job!
Drew Carey brought me here. ❤ The Vogues!

Clean cut group back in the 60’s, still clean cut.
I loved them then and I love them still at age 74! 🥰
Back atcha, Bryt .... same here (age also!)
classic, timeless song
Back then you had to have talent or you didn't make it unlike today where very little talent is.
So nice to see men in suits! They sound so good and I love their music.
