I just think you are super super lovely. If I’m having a bad day (which I do, a lot) I put on one of your videos, and ahhhhhhh, so much better. Thank you, I know these videos must take a lot of time and effort, but I just want to say how grateful I am for them.
Thank you Nick. Loved watching the development and when you painted on the light, warm background colour ………….what a difference! The picture came alive. So grateful for this lesson.
Thank. you. When you said : One doesn't need to have an agenda just to get something going, this is a click for me. This is the first time I am viewing you as I just learned of you from another youtuber. Thank you for sharing your process. I feel so much more lighthearted in knowing it's not all about figuring it out ahead of time; which actually is what I have perceived as a block to my work, a judgement of, why don't. you know where you are going? Artists keep journals! Do series! Artists are pragmatic and know where they are going! Studying art can become so technical for me, overwhelming as in: where is the fun? Thank you for your chill teaching.
I discovered you after doing an online workshop with the brilliant Louise Fletcher who told the group how much she had learned from you. You are so generous sharing your knowledge and expertise Nick. You’re inspirational. I love watching you at work and have learned so much from hearing about your journey.
Love to see you work. It’s such a joy!! So thank you for posting this Nick. I would love to see what the next stage is with the development of these paintings. Any chance you can do this for us? Thank you 🙏
Thanks. This was very helpful. You were so relaxed as you worked. I could see how you applied some of the principles to create transition right. The less saturated colors were also interesting as well as different shapes and sizes. But, I find that the discipline of timed work periods the most helpful. I look forward to seeing this painting develop. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for this. I watched your second video first. This one answered my questions regarding layering and drying. Liquin!! This is so very helpful. You are a wonderful human being, Nicholas Wilton...you deserve all the success you have now. Thanks for sharing your art, techniques and principles with artists around the world. I'm a first time CVP2022 and am so happy I clicked on your free workshop post. I have a BFA but am learning more from you and the coaches than I ever did from my instructors.
Thank you Nicholas. So very good to watch you paint for more time . Also, enjoyed the comments you made while painting. I don't come close to having much experience or painting geometric shapes as you do. Nonetheless, still so helpful and enjoyable to watch and here. One day maybe, it would be so good to take your CVP workshops. Much thanks, again.
Yes, it is so memorising to see you working Nick. Everything else stops when I watch one of your videos. I would love to see how you would proceed from there. Please let us know if possible. Thank you
As one who is just starting out and stumbling along it would be great to see how you pull this through to completion. So helpful though. The sense of letting go and playing is clear!
Thankyou. I really enjoy playing with abandon using dud collage papers I don't necessarily like for my first layers. This video really spoke 2 me and reaffirmed it's value. And Ps your manner is soothing
I’m interested in the thinking about using oils for the under painting rather than acrylic. Not trying to second guess you; curious for my own possible future ideas. LOOOOVVE your videos!! Thank you so much.
It was like a first grader playingthen you added shade of off white and I thought why did he not do first. Then when you used trowl and intwined things and made them all one. It took on a life of its own. It was btilliant. Where do you buy the large amount of paint. Oh my, such freedom, yet such a strong and wonderfull system.
I'm going to try this. I think it will help me be less trepidatious when I paint. Besides, it looks fun! Thank you! Ps. I hope you show the completed painting.
Great video - pity about the background noise in some sections🤪…./but it is a working studio after alll! Marvellous beginnings …..love love your channel! Thanks for sharing!
I’m so interested that you put on the background AFTER laying out the shapes. If you do it so that the background color doesn’t affect the pure color of the shapes it makes sense to me. As I recall, the impressionists painted on white rather than a pained background for that reason.😅
Love your videos - are you painting on board or canvas attached to board? I tried painting on the heavy canvas you suggest but fine it so dry - any work around ?
It is recommended not to mix acrylics with oil paints. What you could do is working your background (or the first later, or layers) in acrylics, let them dry, and then come in and work with oils (sticks, paints, whatever) on top of acrylics. Never the other way around, due to the very different chemical properties of both acrylics and oils respectively. Think “oil and water don’t mix together”. I hope this helps. Good luck!
2 questions: How come your oil paint is so liquid? You take à tube of oil paint plus cold wax plus ???liquine? You smooth a lot..is it for the effect of mixing the colors or there is a technical reason like drying faster ? Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge!!!!
You said you covered boards (are they boards or canvases?) with white paint. Was that oil paint? how do you treat the boards that will be covered with oil paint? (I only have experience with acrylics right now).
I would love to see how Nicolas will manage to finish this composition? It's so pleasant to see him painting...
I just think you are super super lovely. If I’m having a bad day (which I do, a lot) I put on one of your videos, and ahhhhhhh, so much better. Thank you, I know these videos must take a lot of time and effort, but I just want to say how grateful I am for them.
That’s so kind of you to say.
Trudie it's just the same for me too 👍
I know, the sound of nicks voice is precious and calming right?
May we have more of these start to finish long demos...even if in stages. So helpful in our process. Please and Thankyou.
yes!
Nice!
Lovely watching you work with such ease
Thank you Nick. Loved watching the development and when you painted on the light, warm background colour ………….what a difference! The picture came alive. So grateful for this lesson.

Love to see you work. It’s such a joy!! So thank you for posting this Nick. I would love to see what the next stage is with the development of these paintings. Any chance you can do this for us? Thank you 🙏
So great to see your startup process and a beginning to understand how the layers and drips and rotation fold into the early stages. Thanks!!
Thanks. This was very helpful. You were so relaxed as you worked. I could see how you applied some of the principles to create transition right. I look forward to seeing this painting develop. Thanks for this video.
Love your first layer…. Very “happy” start!
I like the idea of using colours you dont really like or you'd like to use up. It would make it easier to paint over for people that fear layering.
Loved watching this!! Thank you for sharing!!
Love this! So playful!
incredible.... it is just so well done. Thank you for letting us into your world as an artist. It is very inspirational.

Great work! I am also creating abstract work and I enjoy it! just subscribed you!

What is the brand of oil paint in the tubs and what is it mixed with to make it soupy? Love it so far!
Wonderful to watch you paint Nick So inspiring ans so far a lovely outcome !!!!!
I'd like to know also
Great video - pity about the background noise in some sections🤪…./but it is a working studio after alll! Marvellous beginnings …..love love your channel! Thanks for sharing!
Nick thank you so much. How long does this layer usually take to dry?
I’m so interested that you put on the background AFTER laying out the shapes. If you do it so that the background color doesn’t affect the pure color of the shapes it makes sense to me. As I recall, the impressionists painted on white rather than a pained background for that reason.😅
Interesting...
Love your videos - are you painting on board or canvas attached to board? I tried painting on the heavy canvas you suggest but fine it so dry - any work around ?
Nick, is your oil paint thinner because you mixed it with the drill mixing bit and in large volume? I love the viscosity 🌻
What did you put over the blue oil pastel? Was acrylics? Won't that peel, if it was? Fascinating video!!!!
Do these sticks work with Acrylics? Thanks for this, Nick! Fun! 💖

@pastelsgirl great, makes sense. Thank you! 💖
Yaaay
are you painting water based paint or acrylics over the oil pastels?
I love this one, maybe it's the dimensions of the board Nick?
Just realised it was 2, it's so nice as a whole ty
Thank you!! What are your thoughts on using household oil paint? I go through so much white and thought of getting some cans.
Is it terrible that I love it just the way it is?
How do you make your oil paint soooo juicy and full of liquid? liquin
2 questions:
How come your oil paint is so liquid? You take à tube of oil paint plus cold wax plus ???liquine?
You smooth a lot..is it for the effect of mixing the colors or there is a technical reason like drying faster ? Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge!!!!
Where are u getting large amounts of paint with strong tints? Powdered paint colours into basic oil paint?
Do you paint the sides of your canvases/panels please, or leave them white?
Nicholas didnyoubuse gamsol mixed in the buckets of oil paints to thin it out?
You said you covered boards (are they boards or canvases?) with white paint. Was that oil paint? how do you treat the boards that will be covered with oil paint? (I only have experience with acrylics right now).
What was in the liquid? Over the oil pastels and acrylic..
Can u paint w acrylic over oil pastels? Thanks
What is the "liquid" you are painting over the oil pastels?
Does the paint dry thru or just the top surface coat?
How much do the colors you have already put down influence the background color?
I would like to order the 2 trowels. Please send me info. Thankyou!
Please go to Art2Life.com to get to our store.
How quickly does liquin dry the pastel?
What is the liquid that u use to seal the pastels
What’s the ‘liquid’ over the oil pastel?😄you didn’t mention Nicholas
Liquin is an oil painting medium made by Winsor Newton
@@PatriseHenkel oh thank you! I thought he was saying ‘liquid’ 😄👍🏻
❤❤❤

Can we see the painting that got you the commission?
