I'm so impressed with your ability to break the rules, bend the mindset and remind us that we can relive our childhood days of freedom to explore what is alive within.
Just found you from Treasure Island Florida!!! So happy to be here and start my first challenge workshop with you in March 2024. Thank you for sharing your gifts and story of inspiration
@art2life So with the excess paint that is left over I like to keep excess index cards and extra papers close by to lay on top to create new blobs or take saran wrap to lay over the excess paint and press gently to transfer it onto the wrap to place on other substrates. Last I may use a scraping tool or a brayer to lift the paint and spread across the new papers to make more new marks and the same can be done with the paper towel gently doing the same thing for your substrate. I have a hard time throwing leftover paints especially if they are good for another piece.
@@b.bailey8244 I still watch what I use and there are ways to extend paint gloss medium,airbrushmedium,gac100,retarder mediums to extend the quantity of paint without compromising pigment of paint. Water also can extend your paint yet often will reduce the paint pigment and vibrancy to where is often reduced. So much is experimentation. Color theory learning and using your primary paints to create the array of colors, once you begin to experiment the use of color is endless. I found a site that allows you to create colors that are carried by well known brands but in craft paint. Look on art stores sites often they will run sales on the premium brands. That is the time to buy either a tube, bottle in the color you may need. What I learned is by using certain amounts or paint you have the opportunity to create the layers you see and love, making marks and so much more, and at the end if there is left over I still create chaos layers(mixed of what is left) on pieces of paper for collage or a underpainting for future painting. If that is not a option regarding sales try craft paint just to explore until you get the brand paint. JoAnn,Michaels,HobbyLobby,Jerry'sArtorama,Blick and Utrect all have great sales if in USA. As a budding artist try not to let the finances deter you from creating, experiment, learn, and express, supplies you can obtain over time. I hope this helps you. I I had learned, watched videos, researched, practiced and these are things you will experience. Enjoy the process and the time creating. It will all work out for you.
@@b.bailey8244 If you are in the Unites States and have a store called pop shelf they carry a brand if acrylic paint called Monte Marte it is 2.00 a tube and it is a little thicker than a fluid craft paint and less heavy than a heavy body. Great pigments and they also carry craft paint there too. They have a online store as well. And Walmart carries a brand called Grumbacher and even their brand is really economical and highly pigmented. Hope this helps, it will be easy on your expenses and allow you to create. Get red.yellow blue, black and white and you can make dozens of colors from these combos
@@b.bailey8244 If I wanted to experiment with techniques like this I would use poster paints from the dollar store. But some of what he is doing is guided by principles of the colour wheel. It's not hard at all - get a book from the library and make swatches. A lot of art youtubers think it is less threatening ( or something) to tell beginners to "be free" or "play", but that depends on luck and can give disappointing results. There are principles you can easily learn behind the successful results.
NIC, your language when you describe colours makes me feel sane. I honestly salivate when making coloursnanf feel I could eat them, like chocolate. Of course I wouldn't 😂 but you give me peace of mind. ❤️
When you disposed off the piece of kitchen roll with pink on it...I went OOH NO 😮... I'd have pressed it on to the paper (or another piece of paper) for a lovely effect and not to waste paint. 😊
I’m really looking forward to Breadcrumbs to learn all these wonderful things I am likely to be fast asleep when it is launched but on awakening I will definitely watch it and do the exercises Can hardly wait Nick and thank you for putting on for all of us Re starting a painting I usually map out what I would like to do on the canvas \ wood or whatever and then try to adjust lines to make it flow and then start painting cheers !!!! I just realized this was an old video and I tried going back to find your sequel to working with stencils done the same day at noon, but can't find it anywhere. Can you give me a title or link so I can finish this Flo? really looking forward to see how you work with stencils. Thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing this, how can I see the video that you are doing at 12 pm....I know this is a year ago, but would love to watch the next video.
Question: can you tell me what you have layered on top of your palete? It looks like paper towels. By the way, when I cleaned my palette using paper towels, I noticed there was a good deal of paint on them. I used them to create my 5th background. To tone down color, I then used a very pale pastel acrylic, rolling it with a brayer. 😊
Use baking paper. Get a container put some sponges in the bottom to fit, add water too them. Then add baking paper and you have created a wet palette, keeps your paint for ages if you have a lid on the container. Cheers Chris
Thanks great. FYI, small side note: Pinot Grigio is from Burgundy in France, not Italy. I'm not a wine expert, but it sounded French, so I looked it up. You're welcome.

Just found your channel. So excited to get painting.
This makes all the difference.
Fantastic video . Your colours don’t go ‘muddy’ - how do you stop that happening?
Just came from Denmark. These are the kind of beautiful rich comforting colors you see over there on everything. You hardly see any primary colors.
Love every second of this!!
Best colour principle ever!
this is so helpful! Thanks for sharing with us - you are so generous. You help me see where my 'rules' to myself hold me back. No more rules!
Me and my big cup of coffee will be there. 🙏

Wow "Treasure Island" is a real place. I thought it was fictitious since my England school days. Enjoy your creativity.
Nick, does there ha e to be a story or a specific feeling to abstract art? Or are just random marks a feeling?
i'm gonna try these tomorrow morning!
Just found your channel- love it. Thank you for this color mixing and background tutorial. Love love love
so enjoyable, thank you, really took over my week in the most enjoyable way. 💖
i'd love to see your next pass on these starts that you demonstrated.
Thank you for the relaxation!
Wow thank you so much for this. I am learning so much from you.
Always appreciate your insights and they way you demonstrate the techniques to support your ideas
I love the paper rolling, it has added to my visual 'dictionary' of pleasurable deliciousness!
How do u avoid it going muddy?
Thank you! Exciting simplicity!

Good ideas. Yes. Nick is wasting a lot of paint here, although these ARE helpful tips.
I am poor and can't afford to waste paint, so thank you for generously sharing your tips on using excess paint!

Mind blown😮

It looks pretty amazing and I am so excited to see how my own work progress when I dont spend all my time hating the color.
Nice.
Where do you buy Art2Life paints?
Thank you so much for sharing this, how can I see the video that you are doing at 12 pm....I know this is a year ago, but would love to watch the next video.
Which brand of acrylics does he use?
What type of crayons are you using ??? Thanks 😊
What brand crayons?
I have nevereverever had color taught this way. My head is kind of exploding with amazement and a little annoyance at art school.
We’re you using acrylics

This is how I cook too…the problem is, I don’t remember how I got those colors. 😂
You illustrated The Four Agreements?
My problem is mud-making
