- Wood finishes are a tricky subject that we all face when decorating our homes. Do we have to match the color for each piece to make it look cohesive? Or, can we want to mix and match and still come up with a strong design? Here I walk you through both options...and share one of my design secrets to making either option turn our successfully.
Go make some good decisions!

Why this person only have 200+ followers!?!? 😮
I really enjoyed this video, thank you so much
I liked it, I gave the 👍 and I am subscribing!
Texture, not color - OMG I needed it.
Thank you!
I need more videos like this! Emotional roller coaster when I first thought I finally found a new interior design channel, to then realize you have relatively few videos. Anyhow, great video, thank you!
Thank you for the comment! What would you like to see? I'll make one for you :)
@@MrCallDesigns Any knowledge you can share on the subject lighting/lighting fixtures would be helpful. But I'll watch anything interior tbh, haha. Do one you'll enjoy making :)
Me too. I'd like to see more of interior design. Like I've been watching alot about this subject since i will be moving to a new house but I haven't learned from anyone on how to mix woods until u explained it.thx
So helpful thank you
Needed this advice. Thanks
So happy you enjoyed this :)
This video was brilliant! SO helpful!! Thank you so much!
This is exactly what I needed to know. Very helpful. Thank you
This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks for the advice. 🤯✌🏼
YESSS THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED!!! “People thought the relationship was color, but I don’t think it is, it is texture”. This is the design magic 🪄 I was missing. Then colors/tones were working but the room still wasn’t working! Turns out it’s the texture creating cohesion.
Thank you>
Under fricking rated!!
Best tip ever!!!

Thank you SO SO SO much, Gaysil!!!
I have an espresso vinyl floor. We took up the tile in the kitchen and used vinyl tile but we aren’t happy. I would like vinyl plank. Worried about matching but what options could I do in vinyl?
what if the stationary items (floor, windows, closetdoor ..) are so far off in terms of color ! i want to redo my bedroom but i have dark mahogany windows and douglas fir ( yellowish) door and closet doors ... i'm stuck at what kind of woodfloor to choose ( haven't got to the furniture yet) :s
That’s a great question, actually. Choose one of your finishes, (mahogany or the fir) and use it for the the floor color. The second color use to influence your furniture. I hope this makes sense. Let me know. Thanks for the great question.
@@MrCallDesigns It actually does makes sense .... that was really helpfull , i can finally tackle that room now :D thank you so much ^_^ !
Thank you for this. 200 subscribers what? This must be your only video 😄🙏🏾
It is one of my few videos. But your sweet comment makes me want to make more! Thank you so much. X
I’m editing my living room and got rid of quite a few pieces. I’m left with a dark walnut fairly traditional side board and much lighter version coffee table set which is more contemporary. I’m waiting for delivery of grey modular sofa and 2 leather antique tan chairs. My walls are all white and flooring is this awful colour that doesn’t sit with either.( will be replaced when I can afford it). I like a more eclectic style of living and have taken onboard your advice. I’m also hoping that large simple area rugs will help divide my room, creating 2 separate seating areas. I’m going to go with finishes rather than colour as I think that would work in my space.
Just felt I needed to share this and feed back your post
I love your design journey. Please keep me updated and. let me know if you would like any questions answered in upcoming videos!
Oh no, I wanted to only do one or two rooms high gloss cabinets. Our house is large (8k SF under roof), so I didn't think it mattered! 😮😮😮
I just ordered my kitchen cabinets and they are almost identical to the floor...light oak in appearance...is this ok?
