I am going to be honest, my college education was really bad, so bad that all i have is a degree in interior design with no knowledge of designing. The only thing i know are softwares but what good are they if i cant even design properly without rhythm and harmony.
I have been following you since my first year of college and when i'm looking for job i realized that i knew nothing about interior designing. I was just looking some tutorial for revit then i thought lets just learn stuff from the scratch and here i am actually learning something and i really hope that i will learn so much from you that would make me a good interior designer.

Hi Alessio, thank you very much!!! if you're minimalist yo are a practical person, personally i love this style because is very abstract and artistic. Since Japandi is a mix whit scandinavian (which has a minimalist breeze) it it's very easy to incorporate some elements to mix those styles, also Minimalism design has been highly influenced by Japanese traditional design so they're family.

I think, I like rustic & industrial style but some time when I watch contemporary style I just fall can u help me out ?? Which style suits me ?? Hi Vanessa, I love to know that my content has helped you. There are many styles of design since each one is born as a consequence of specific periods. In this video, I only explain 10, but I have pending to do another one with other styles. A good way to understand styles is to study the history of art since styles are a reflection of the social, political, artistic, and geographical situation where it's developed. Other styles are: Art Deco, Maximalism, Art Nouveau, Transitional, etc. :D My best wishes with University Assignment. ❤️

My biggest issue is that I love so many of them that I end up with no definition whatsoever cause I pull from all over and then my house just basically is a mess. How do you feel about different rooms in the house each having drastically different design styles? also, how do you feel about mixing industrial and mid-century modern? I think that would most describe my preference. If I had to choose one, it would be mid century modern.

Hi Gisel! Thank you very much for your comment :) I think do you have a very beautiful and contemporary color scheme created. If you need a color for the wall painting you can choose white or a nude tone like gray or taupe (in a very light tone!) as you have dark textures it's important to select a color to freshen it up the space and to make contrast.

Hi I have just joined your channel and like it very much. My style is glam and modern. I would like to ask you something, I am renovating my house right now and have a slight problem, we have an open plane space, hall, sitting room and new kitchen that opens out to a joint conservatory type room. My kitchen is white gloss with wooden decorative panelling. The problem I am having currently is deciding what floor to use and if whether I should use the same flooring all through the ground floor or do different flooring for certain sections. I hope you can shed some light on this issue, I would grately appreciate it... Selda
Hello Selda Thank you very much! Regarding your question both options are correct, and it will depend on your style. But since your space is an open plan, you can use different flooring in certain areas to create visual limits and define the spaces if you think it's necessary. :D

I just moved house and my new style is probably a mixture between Scandinavian and mid century modern - with a slight 70ties touch. I like clean and simple lines, but wanted to add some warmth with colour and texture.
Sound very interesting, i think the wooden furniture pieces that characterize the mid century modern style can looks like very well in a Scandinavian atmosphere ;)

It's normal that we mix different styles in search of what really defines our personality.
The key is "proportion" usually designers apply the 60-30-10 rule:
- Choose a dominant style and use it in 60% of your space (floors, walls, carpets, large pieces of furniture, and so on)
- Choose your second style and include 30% of this in your decoration (armchairs, coffee table, side tables, lamps, medium pieces, etc.)
- 10% corresponds to your third style, use it for your details and decorative elements (vases, cushion, decorative pieces)
Your case will be: 60% Traditional (the dominant style) 30% Rustic (Secondary style) 10% Glam for details. ❤️I hope this can help you a little, a hug!

I was pondering over which styles is my style until the last where you mentioned Japandi style, a hybrid style and how interior designs aren't rigid. I am clear that I definitely belongs to the hybrid style. But I would like to know how many choices of styles is to be considered weird or too much mixes and matches?
Because i kinda like a bit of everything.
I have an elegant taste yet i also love to have a warm and cozy setting but at the same time, i also love fancy metallics, velvety furnitures. I'm also a supporter of both the rustic and traditional classic english style.
What style am I hahahah

Great video, dilemma is style versus theme, say nautical, hunting lodge,etc
I'm absolutely in love with industrial style, BUT with traditional and/or victorian elements.
You might like the steampunk design style, it’s a marriage of industrial and Victorian/Edwardian design styles, a bit more futuristic machinery and old fashioned elegance, but you should definitely check it out for elements that you might like about it.

Im confused with myself regarding what style do i belong. My walls are plain white and i love just being white. I have photo gallery at the corner with black frames and my rectangular mirror in black frame also with black tv console below it. My dining table and cabinets are black as well as my bookshelves that are two and i put them beside each other and in these i put all my decors which is i think rustic such as wooden bowls with wooden balls and at the bottom are wicker bins. My sofa and curtains are burgundy. What do you think my style is. And also my chandelier is matte black, i just repaint it and i think i love the way it is now.

Hello Jackie and Welcome to my channel! ❤️ It's normal that we mix styles since each space is a reflection of the personality and tastes of those who live there.
According to the colors you are using: white, black and warm and rustic elements (according to your description) gives me a Scandinavian style but I see that You added a personal touch through the burgundy color. To help you more clearly I would have to see a photo of the space because apart from the colors it's important to see the shape of the objects and the composition of the space. But don't be afraid! you can mix and match different styles, the important thing is that you feel comfortable in your spaces.

Thanks for another perfect explained and understandable video. Loving your work and tips!. This is really helpful to idealize the space when you know few things about your client. This helps to make a sketch or mood board for first presentation. Btw, from those styles in the video, i like the Mid Century and Rustic one #NatureLover, but i would say my perfect style would be Eclectic .

My favorite style is a simple Southwest style exemplified by “La Fonda” in Santa Fe New Mexico. It’s practical and easy to live with, but with great warmth and style.
I just had to comment because I haven't known of anyone liking the southwest style other than my mom! Though it is quite popular & beautiful, it doesn't seem all that common I suppose... We use to live in Arizona, but I remember being about 10 yrs old when my mom had our front room redecorated in south western decor. I hated it so much and was even embarrassed to bring my friends over! Iam in my late 30's now, and of course have a much greater appreciation for her divine style and taste!
lindseyvaila my mother is from Massachusetts and loved the “Early American” style. I mean Really loved it. Lol! I guess my Southwest look is my Earlier American . I get the looks I want in my little studio apartment by having a neutral base and using blankets, rugs and pillow covers . Then I have Christmas ornaments I bought in Santa Fe. Painted gourds, terra cotta figures. It makes me feel warm and cozy all through the Ohio winter. Yesterday I went to a birthday party at a friends parents house and the birthday boy took me downstairs to see his grandparents had a Southwest museum in their basement! Rooms filled with glass cases filled with baskets, pottery, clothing, weapons, jewelry, teeth, claws, bones and gourds, rattles and rocks. I was stunned!
