Zahira, how do focal points work when the entrance, dining and living room area are all in one space? I would love a video on focal points for small spaces or competing spaces in a small home.

Regarding your question, that depends on many factors. But generally, the same rules apply. Focal points cannot compete but must guide you through space. Depending on your open space, perhaps choosing one focal point is enough, or depending on the visuals, it may be that two works better. :)
Oh my gosh this is exactly how my house is! As soon as you walk in there’s the dining and living room in one- there is no entry foyer or anything . Also my house has so many windows so her suggestion that a bed should be the focal point as soon as you walk in the bedroom doesn’t work because right in front of the door there’s a huge wall of windows. Can’t put a bed there.

I have learnt so much from you and followed your tips while planning my new house interiors. When ceiling is a focus wall, which material would you use as good alternates to real wood in a wooden ceiling? Is plywood with laminate better than engineered wood( wooden floor material used in ceiling instead!).

Such quality advice and presented so well! I have a small bathroom with light walls and the floor is a "wow" black tile with busy white design. Can a floor be a focal point? Right now that's all we see, to be honest

Hello Zahira, great Video on Focial Points. I‘ve got a Problem. In all my rooms, bedroom, livingroom and office is a short Wall and a Window the first thing you‘ll see. Any tipps on what to make a focial Point ?

Question - what do you do when your living room has a natural but unattractive focal point that you can't change? For example, in my living room the fireplace area is central, dark, heavy and unattractive. The rest of the room is light and white. (I'm a renter so I can't make any structural changes or paint the fireplace area.) Can I try to create a focal point that I find beautiful or will it just compete with the fireplace in an unsuccessful way?

I like the Japandi style but I love to get a black pieces in this space or use black decoration for living or dining room with consider the wall it will ne used for the 3 parts.

Hi Zahira! I’m a little late to the game here but would be so grateful if you could tell me how to address the issue of having 2 focal points on one wall. I have built in shelving and tv unit right next to a fireplace. Any thoughts? We use the room mostly for tv watching but the fireplace is also beautiful with a marble surround. The whole wall is white.

Yes! You can position different focal points, but first, evaluate the space and identify engaging visuals to place each one and how it relates with each other! In the same “picture,” the focal points mustn't compete! Kisses 😘

What can I do if my bed head has a Window.
I own an apartment which has got living room and kitchen in one place. Its an open kitchen. Moreoever dining table is in the living space. I tried to keep things in neutral color with few colour pops which goes with the theme, yet i ended up with an unsatisfactory result. I never find what im looking for or what suits my place. I donno why that happens🙄🙄🙄

Great info, but background music is too loud. Makes it hard for me to hear what you’re saying
1. Know ur space
2. Establish focal point - entrance hallway, mirror, bright colors. Musnt compete.
3. Livingroom must dominate from everything else. Emphasize w shape , color.
4. Dining - Vase on table. Lamp should not compete with wall.
5. Kitchen- Accentuate w backsplash or Light to contrast with other elements. Upper shelving decor.
6. Bedroom- the bed. Opposite to the door. If not possible place a desk, mirror, etc.
Bath- vanity see first use a mirror if bathtub use a curtain as focal point.
So wish you could oversee the renovation of
