It’s sad that the worst kits of this season are basically “this weapon class desperately needs buffs or a rework” and “this weapon doesn’t fit the flow of the current meta at all”
That's actually kind of good actually, because those things can change. A horrible kit is just going to stay the way that it is.
Everything relies on 2 patches tho, we could've really used this kit quality sooner
@@TGCPhilip I agree but it’s not just kits though, look at hydras first kit. Auto bomb is a pretty solid sub for the weapon, it’s cheap deterrence for the weapon and a bomb. Booyah bomb is an excellent special for most weapons being easy to throw out and great aoe. The problem is the kit it’s the weapon, we desperately need not just better kits but patch quality.

Meta doesn't matter to them because more than just competitive players exist. The only question they take into account is "is the weapon fun?" If not, they _might_ do something about it to make it better. You might need to take a step back on taking the game too seriously if you're too focused on "competitively viable" kits. Regular fun matters more at the end of the day.
Though it's become more clear that they actually bothered with kits this time; it doesn't feel like randomly generated mishmash they couldn't be bothered with.
it sucks, you either get a sub weapon that kinda works with it and no special or a special weapon that kinda works with it and no sub. It's not even a tetras situation where the part that works is actually good, it's just ok. If this thing gets a third kit I can see hope, otherwise they'd need to be buffing it to be an insane main weapon, which they're not gonna do because they hate brellas.
Or they could buff the main weapon and buff line marker.
If dart gives DMG when touched, the vanilla rebrella instantly works so much better, coming from a 5 starred rebrella main
@@joeydraper5934 yeah, but even then you still have a terrible special for the weapon. We'd still need the main weapon to be completely cracked to see any use like vtetras did early on. I don't see them buffing bubble more since it's bad for the game, so mist buffs are the only real hope for a kit that works. Imo at least
@@a-ramenartist9734 you'd be surprised how well bubble actually synergizes with the main weapon - you keep the great damage and accuracy whilst gaining a much stronger shield to shoot out of
@@joeydraper5934 I find it holds the weapon down a bit too much. At least the way I play it, since to me its like a faster tent. Also with the accuracy comes the downside of vulnerablility. Someone can easily get into your bubble and you have to be able to hit your shots before then, or else you'll be stuck in a close quarters fight where you, due to being tied down in your location by bubble, can't take full advantage of your shield launch. It definitely has use cases, and being able to set up bubble with your shield launch is cool, but I certainly wouldn't say it has good synergy.
You see 0 rebrellas in competitive play? That's funny. I see lim(x->0) rebrellas in casual play. It exists, but so little of them get used that it's only enough to remind you that it exists...and still sucks.
I cannot express how much I wish this weapon was better. It needs a real good buff. Like an improvement to 150 canopy HP, or even something as ridiculous as the canopy coming back as soon as it breaks.
Are you sure you're talking about competitive play? I've literally never seen it in competitive. There are zero replay uploads with it on Sendou. I can't find it on the post-release Low Ink vods. Can you prove the number of competitive events with it are not equal to zero?

In other words, no one plays it in comp and almost no one plays it casually as well.
I think it just needs a faster firing rate and shield buff to 150 or maybe even 175. Probably won't make it good for competitive, but at least it'll be playable.

I really think toxic mist is the sub most in need of a buff. its the only subweapon that feels like a burden to EVERY kit its on. i guess squelcher and splatana make okay use of it but outside of rainmaker it feels like a waste of your ink tank that is always a mistake to press
Bubbler feels the same. I couldn't wait to get off the starting weapon in this game because it never felt like I had a real special. Ink armor might've been too good, but at least I felt like I was doing something, though I was completely brand new to splatoon back then (2 was my first game) so I didn't know how to capitalize on it most of the time. If I got it, I'd use it even though I didn't know what it did. Here's hoping they add back the sub and special descriptions like they had in 2; You can access them at the test range, which was really helpful when I first learning the game in splatoon 2.

it feels like every game has a number of subs and specials that just intentionally suck in order to try and balance out the main weapon being actually kind of reliable.
Granted that doesn't really match here since the rebrella isn't good to start, but some weapon class had to suffer i guess

Ok so i main rebrella with 5 stars so hear me out for a sec. The shield gimmick is fine - once you get used to it, it's basically a curling bomb with a shield. The only issues are that the paint is terrible and you barely get any special at 190p (which is a shame cos bubble works really well with it). Also for some reason the shield is really buggy - like tent used to, it teleports sideways when you launch it sometimes and also many shots just go through the shield. Also WHY MIST OF ALL THINGS. MIST IS LITERALLY THE WORST SUB IT COULD HAVE GOTTEN. I really dont think it would've killed Nintendo to give it burst, fizzy or even torp.
What rebrella needs to be usable:
Bug fixes
Paint buff/PFS decrease
A decent kit
Increased shield bump damage
Shield health (ofc)
I'm lowkey hyped for the new Recycled since I've gotten pretty good at the vanilla kit already
I feel like, because splat brella and recycle are pretty similar, there is no way to make them both unique and good simultaneously because splat brella is supposed to be more defensive and do less damage while it needs more damage and recycle is supposed to do more damage and have a weaker shield when it needs a stronger shield, and if they give both to each, they'll be very similar
Recycled focuses on shield launch, splat brella almost never launches. Pretty simple, I really don't think they're that similar. If anything recycled is more similar to tent.
@@a-ramenartist9734 I know that they play differently, but they both need buffs in the thing that the other does well so, while they're distinct now, it would be hard to make them both strong while keeping them distinct

Someday... someday my dear Undercover Brella will be combat viable in competitive play.
Its a weapon with so much potential, just out of reach.
Out of curiosity, what do you think it would take? 50 damage (for the two tap)? Faster rate of fire?
I love undercover and would love to see it higher up in the viability. I just don't know what it would take that wouldn't make it overbearing.

Brellas are just flawed as a class. With all the inherent flaws the class has, they need something ridiculously good to balance them out, hence why Tent is the only good one. The shield on that is crazy, and even then it's just a pretty good weapon. Like, it's really telling that Sorella Brella has one of the best kits it could ask for and is still mid. Any weapon like that (see also: Hydra, Gloogas) is waving a giant flag that the main needs help.
I imagine even with a banger kit, ReBrella would just be mid. But it has....this.
Which one of hydras kits has one of the best kits it could ask for. Since auto bomb is only decent and Screen is Screen.

If they just gave it burst bomb this kit would be fucking awesome but I guess not everything is meant to be.
I guess it leaves the third kit open to a burst bomb if that ever happens but given their track record they're probably giving it sprinkler stamp anyway.
Vunder kit has very good synergy IF you learn how to use it right and is actually much more aggressive than its Sunder counterpart. It's just a playstyle a lot of folks fail to grasp and it's not for everyone. There are some Japanese players that have very good success with it.
As a Vunder main I tried using Rebrella and found that it was difficult to get many shots to actually connect despite having the target inside my reticle box, and I genuinely think there's a glitch of some kind that needs fixing there. Sometimes it just fails to connect or fails to paint certain slopes, much like Bamboozler struggles with sometimes. On top of that I think they need to increase the spread a tiny bit just to increase consistency, since the tightness of the pellets vs. ink are kind of out of alignment currently.

I'd say the worst kit this season is VWell. Stamp does not work well with a backliner.
