Alter Bridge: Words Darker Than Their Wings, live version at Royal Albert Hall. Probably the most phenomenal vocals I have ever heard. Their live performances seem to have something going on, something almost unexplainable

Myles has always worked his ass off to be what he is Live and continues to work all these years. Very very under rated
AB has been my favorite band since 2004. I took my GF to her first Alter Bridge show on April 1st and she absolutely loved it. Having been raised on a farm in Kansas she is typically a country music fan. However, when miles performed watch over you acoustically she actually went into tears. What an amazing night.

You’re in for a treat! I never heard of AlterBridge five years ago either. Now they are my favorite band - ever! I heard Myles Kennedy singing with Slash and followed that up wondering who the great singer was and what else he has done. Found AlterBridge and never looked back! They don’t make a bad song or album; and their 2nd through 4th albums are considered their best of the best!

Tremonti is as good if not better musician than Myles. The band has been playing together for 30+ years and are tighter than a NUNs A$$

Saw Big Wreck open for Creed way back at the Tradewinds in Jersey. Went right out and bought the Big Wreck debut album. Now Creed has become Alter Bridge with Myles and they are the absolute best band out there. Walk the Sky is a fantastic album. Indoctrination is so good.
Few musical styles have the impact of an acoustic guitar. The vocal impact is threefold what you get with additional accompaniment. Very nice.
Myles Kennedy has a great voice for any era; and just about any genre (not sure opera would work? …although he’s an amazing tenor vocalist - so, who knows;)
He’s got a beautiful timbre to go with a four + octave range, for which he has excellent breath and pitch control at all times.
A true great of our times!
He trained in Bel Canto with Ron Anderson, so yeah, opera too.
@@carolynboone80 Alter Bridge are my favourite band, I dont think he could pull off Opera too well but Words darker than their wings shows he can go just as high as many opera singers
Myles Kennedy is trained in "Bel canto" singing: "Bel Canto", is Italian for “beautiful singing”.
- It is a style of "Operatic Singing" that originated in Italian singing of polyphonic (multipart) music and Italian courtly solo singing during the late 16th century and that was developed in Italian opera in the 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries! So I know Myles can sing Operatically 100%!
@@aryansigrid he wasn't originally trained in Bel Canto it's something he took lessons on later in life. Myles is my favourite vocalist and has been for many years, he has incredible range but he definitely could not pull opera. He put off playing words live for so many years because of the high note he wouldn't be able to sustain that over a full opera set.

Open G is just a slightly different tuning on the strings to give it a different sound.
Myles is amazing. One you both would like is the one he did from home during lockdown. It's an acoustic version of Iron Maiden's The Trooper 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I think open G gives a different sound like you say; but the cool thing is he can occasionally strum the strings with no fingers at all on the fret board, and its a G chord!
Low E is tuned to D
He has D as the root mostly ringing
Normally you don't use the Lower E in open G so it sounds different

Sorry I don't have a musical bone in my body, I listen but have never learnt to play although my Grandfather made guitars, cello's, violins & piano's. I inherited none of my families musical genes as my Mother taught herself to play the Piano & sing, well. I've tried but too many people tell me to Stop whatever noise it is I'm making because it drives them crazy! That's me, Crazy

Myles is definitely one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time. I don't like to rank singers because it's all subjective but Ian Thornley, Myles, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley and Robert Plant are all in the mix.
It really doesnt get any better than Myles on acoustic guitar. If you enjoyed this then I recommend listening to some of Alter Bridge's other ballads on Acoustic. Wonderful Life and In Loving Memory are also beautiful songs. For something a bit different. Try his Travelling Riverside Blues cover!
You need to hear Miljenko Matijevic of Steelheart sing. Him and Myles Kennedy are probably my two favorite rock singers at the moment. The guy supposedly has a range greater than even Freddy Mercury!!!

Open G is a guitar tuning where the strings are tuned to DGDGBd, which is an open g chord. Standard guitar tuning is EADGBe.
90=2000 rock era vocalist is chris cornell, but miles kennedy is up there.

Hell yeah!! Big wreck and Ian Are the best!! Check out Ian's Solo Projects One is called "Thornley" (2 albums) and his slow acoustic album is called Ian Fletcher Thornley. he is my guitar hero.
Someone with a very similar voice is Kelly Jones. Lead singer with a big British band called‘Stereophonics’ (one for the ladies apparently). Ginger one for you I think.
