Wouldve been much better without the background music for comparison!
True! Although the main point of the video is that they all stand up to each other so well. I think if you're scrutinising the sound to the point where you want the music turned off, then you're probably going to want to go with the SM7B. If you can't really notice the difference between them, you can save yourself some money and go with the MV7X!
@@GakCoUk Nice video, but sola has a point. Being able to hear how much of a difference there is can be very helpful when determining if it is worth spending some extra money for a nicer mic. Especially if you are planning on using the mic in a setting where you won't play background music. I think you can keep the music, but include a section of the video that doesn't play the music just to make a clean comparison?
@@GakCoUk Of course you scrutinize the sound, that’s the very reason you would watch a comparision video.
@@wilhelmhagberg4897 he just dont take criticism..
I completely disagree, maybe he should have used multiple songs, but the music is what pushes this boring talking head along.
Thanks for the in depth analysis of the three products. Though I agree, that the music is a bit too loud and through that very distracting not only from your content but also the comparison of the microphones.
Even with the background music, the SM7B sounded better than the other mics to my ear. I'd just say it's smoother and mellower. I sing and play guitar and I think I have the kind of voice that would work well with the SM7B. (But I'm not ready to plunk down $400 at this moment.)
The SM7B sounded better by far than the other mics. It's currently on sale at a bunch of different places, and I'm thinking about biting the bullet and upgrading from my ancient Yeti.
i have a yeti. my friend and i are trynna start a band and dont have a ton of money to drop on a mic. if u did get it, was it worth it?
@@TheCrimsonGhost677 I got an SM57 instead. 1/4 the price, doesn't need a cloudlifter, and you can EQ it to sound super close to an SM7B.
@@mbrsart Is it worth it though?
how did you go from getting a 400 dollar microphone to a 100 dollar microphone 💀
@@WiIIiamOfficial I watched a video that proved you don't need a $400 microphone to get a $400 sound.
I have sm7db taste but I'm on a mv7x budget...great video man thanks for sharing 🙌
I ended up choosing the MV7, wish me luck.
*Anyone who wants to pay for 10 features and only use 1 or 2 (which is everyone), get the MV7. Anyone who wants a built-in top notch pop-filter, get the MV7-B. Anyone who has more brains than money, get the MV7-X. Use an XLR to 2-ring 3.5mm phono cable. Every computer has a sound card built-in now. And using the analog input will have zero latency.*
Getting my MV7+ in the mail today
Background music annoyed me during the whole video.. :( it could make not the Best impression.
But thanks for your thoughts regarding mics man
Yeah, music should have been about half the volume.
Got the mv7 about a year ago and used it with usb, yesterday I ordered the elgato wave xlr due to the new Update. Now ill use the mv7 with xlr im excited.
How is it with the elgato wave ?
Also wanting to know this?
Well there is no need to get the MV7 at all to be honest. You can just buy a cheap 30-50$ interface to power up the MV7x and save on a couple bucks + you’ll have an interface for future mics and it you dont lose any quality like you do with a usb mic 👍🏽
Actually there is, I like the fact that I will be able to stream on my pc, my ps4 and to record my voice for music! Also you can switch the pop? (sorry English isn't my first language) of the mv7 with the one of the sm7b which fits perfectly and is way better for plausives
Hi Rhyma please can explain how I can achieve this with my Sony A74 mirrorless camera? What exact components do I need to connect my Shure mv7x with my camera?
I’m looking for a mic with great sound to make zoom calls with clients and investors, I was thinking to get the 7x but if I get a cable XLR to USB C, does it work without external interferences?
Bro..background music...really?
Great review!
Thank you, near great video - except for the music, which was annoying and distracting.
You have a great speaking voice, you don't need the annoying background noise.
I bought an MV88+ for iPhone 15 Here’s my issue. The vid on my camera facing me is lower frame rate and dark looking using motiv app. I upped it to full 4k 60 and I compared my standard vid camera app on my phone and on your motiv app. Unfortunately I can’t get it to look like my camera does on built in camera app. It’s almost like it’s being processed through the Shure motiv app and thus altering or reducing vid quality making it darker and less colorful. Is there a fix?
What other brands have apps like Motiv I could test?
Thank you so much for making this video!! :D
Maybe cut the background music, so we can hear the microphones only?
That music 😩😩😩
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for a clear comparison.
The music is pointless; I want to hear clear vocals, not that irritating stock music. I get that some podcasters or spoken word people would like that BECAUSE it is an active test, but this should be a purely technical test.
MV7X with Solo Scarlet 3rd Gen would be fine right? Lmk trying to upgrade from my AT2035.
yep! Should be absolutely fine. The MV mics don't require the extra db that the SM7b does, which is another plus :D
@@GakCoUk Had a feeling because I was deciding between the MV7X and the SM7B but didn't wanna have to upgrade to a GOXLR or something of the sort. Thanks for answering my question got the MV7X on sale for cyber monday woot woot!
@@rosci1092 How did it end up working? I'm looking at the mv7x with an evo 4 or a scarlet.
@@natel7382 Works fine, mic sounds great!
@@rosci1092 what gain setting do you use it at? Ty for the quick response!
Extremely well said
Got a mv7x on Amazon with a black Friday discount for 140
Will the shure mv7x work well with a low-cost audio interface like the behringer um2 ?
Should do
What audio interface are you using?
The answer is SM57 with a A2WS pop filter.
for a deeper voice on a budget willing to possibly buy an goxlr in the future, which mic would u suggest?
Honestly, get the shure mx7 non-x and that way you can get the go xlr in the future but don't actually need an xlr to use the mv7 when running it at first!
Thansk for telling me the differences between these devices! Now I know which one is for me!
hello / good evening small question is the goxlr whether it is the normal or mini and a good combo with the shure mv7x and if it is not great what would be good with this mv7x thank you to those who answer my questions
This video is very helpful, thanks.
Good comparison of 3 Dms.
i got an m audio 192-8 ai is it enough for the sm7b ?( i think i will ho anyways with the mv7x )
is there a big difference from using the USB vs the XLR on the MV7 or does it sound about the same
It depends what you're plugging into in fairness. If you have a top of the range interface, then the analogue/digital conversion will be better, but I imagine with most standard interfaces, the USB input will stand up well to it!
Was this sound edited at all?
background music is useless by the way , especially to compare 3 mics... ;)
The Mv7x does not have the application to control the gain and change modes???
Nope! It's a regular microphone, with a sound similar to the pricier SM7B. None of the added tech on board for those who don't need it
Does this have clipping protection?
With the MV7x - do you find you need a gain lifter for this one?
Nope! None needed. Both MV mics should pack enough gain organically to not require any sort of clean lift. In fairness, the SM7B should be okay as long as your audio interface has around 120db of dynamic range, you can just crank the signal without any significant digital noise
@@GakCoUk thanks. I have the zoom podcaster p4, which I believe has max of 70db gain.
Funny you should ask that. I am running mine through a new mackie pro fx 10 and I have it maxed. Still seems quiet
@@GakCoUkplease I have the Sony A74 camera and Shure mv7x how do I connect these two together? I am a novice please. Do I need any interface? Although I am on a budget.
u did awsome review. i wish if the background music was not there bcz it was so annoying trying to focus on the the mic sound and ur excellent explantion and review while that music looping in the back T_T
Good job mate
When you going for singing then take the sm7b
I honestly couldn’t tell the difference in sound
*We would like to ear microphones and not music.*
for someone reviewing mics.. and audio quality out of the mics.. not being able to mix the music levels so it doesn't interfere/overpower the actual talking/ sound of the mics.. is a seriously huge damper on your credibility to actually perform an audio review...
Thank you.
7:17 "The MV7 is the most affordable of the three microphones ... The next up is the MV7..." 😁
The best microphone like sm7b is Sm7 whit pop filter.
I was trying to hear the vocals and not the background music. Very annoying to listen to. Did not finish the video
Thank you very much. Please change your background sound, it is too nervous and too loud. Otherwise perfect video.
What's up with the music when you speak???!!! It is supposed to show of mics and not some background music....unwatchable really.
I wish RUclipsrs used chapters in their video's
Couldn't get past the hideous background music, had to stop the video. 😢
good review, but damn turn down that music please!
Thanks
If i had a dollar for every time this dude says "or indeed"
The music is fier
I wanted to watch the whole video but the music drove me insane ;) the same thing throughout and too loud
WHY WON'T YOU TALK INTO THE SEPARATE MICS TO COMPARE THE SOUND? Why would you just talk and talk and talk without letting us listen to the difference?????
Wouldn’t recommend this loud music when you’re reviewing and showing off microphones.
Real answer! None of them.
Microphones are not complicated devices and have improved very much in the past 50 years.
Shure is just capitalizing on legacy (as is ElectroVoice) and charging exorbitant prices for the microphones that don't have any business costing this much.
Just get yourself a nice modern condenser mic and you'll be good.
oh man, that background music is so shyte and annoying, why?
Just picked up an mv7 for 175 😁 and b and h
Same here
why cant you just speak with these microphone and demonstrate?
The music is so annoying
the annoying background music ruined the whole thing!!
YOu put annoying music in the background! Wow very helpful 👎
Great video but DAMM music is very annoying, IS ALWAYS THE SAME, I WAS HAVING AN ICTUS AT THE END OF THE VIDEO
background music is so 2010ish.
Mna the music in the background is so annoying
How stupid is it to have a ridiculous music soundtrack behind this video? Very especially.
Why in the world would you use a music bed for a microphone review? You had good information but ruined it with the distracting sound and hand waving.
Turn off the music how do we hear the mike sound with that crap playing
