    being a tow truck driver for 14 years and somewhat of a fabricator I can tell you you're on the right track.
    number one your stinger is not working your center of gravity and lifting point is all wrong... unless you change the whole design only a couple things are really going to help number one snatch block needs to go opposite of where it is the cable needs to go back and hook to the Boom... by splitting the line you fraction the weight.... and you need to reduce the length of the Stinger buy a good foot at least and instead of having a side to side pivot need to have a left-to-right pivot so you can turn but damn good job otherwise

    Love it! Great build! Too funny what fearless said bout' REPO mowers! Have a Super Blessed Week!.....Gus

  • @pinkhead6857890
    @pinkhead6857890 4 года назад +1

    On any of those belt and pully drive riding mowers this would be pretty useless, but on an actual garden tractor with gear or hydrostatic drive like a Cubby or Jhon Deere 200 series this would actually be pretty useful for dragging logs out of the woods!

  • @Fearlessfront
    @Fearlessfront 10 лет назад +18

    I like it! Seems to work really well... only thing I might change would be to make the stinger adjustable.. So you could adjust the length like a telescope. Keep it snugged up close to the rear end for heavier loads.
    Get a diesel motor, and a big-ass front bumper on there and that will be all the front end weight you'll need!
    Now you can REPO riding lawn mowers! lol

    • @wetheralmaplefarm
      @wetheralmaplefarm  10 лет назад +3

      if i can find a diesel engine or a front drive axle for this i would be all over putting it in the tractor!! unfortunately in Canada the 10 hp diesel u have is harder to come by. i think i'm gonna make another stinger and make it adjustable like you said and see if it works better. thanks for watching man!

      wetheralmaplefarm Actually I think they are more popular in Canada since Princess Auto used to sell generators with those Chinese Diesels in them. I don't think they were ever sold retail here in the states.

      My thoughts are built a shorter stinger for the heavier tractors.. you fulcrum to far back to counteract the weight your lifting..🤔🤔

    I believe you're a tow truck operator in the making!
    Add some ballast to the front and you'll be good to go!

  • @jeffreyplum5259
    @jeffreyplum5259 10 лет назад +1

    Nice! I suggest you get a chain to secure the tow to the stinger. The frame which connects the stringer to the tractor could be linked to the winch mount / rear bumper. I'm thinking of it as a sort of travel lock, still allowing the stringer to lay flat on the ground when needed. Some anchor legs would allow you to winch out tows to where you can hook up easily. Log skidding anyone? I'm sure you'll find many ways to extend its uses. Great to see such " out of the box" thinking.

    • @wetheralmaplefarm
      @wetheralmaplefarm  10 лет назад

      Jeffrey Plum those r some good ideas! i have been throwing the idea around about making a log skidder grad hook for towing logs out of the bush

  • @Junkboy888
    @Junkboy888 7 месяцев назад

    LOL My Sears FF-18 with a 3 Point move my smaller garden tractor around with ease, but trying to move my John Deere and my Cub Cadet makes my front wheels lift off the ground. The front tires on the FF are larger and mine are fluid filled. Only way I can keep the front down is put on my snow plow. lol I do like the idea that you can change or make different lift points for different machine towing.

  • @PaulsPlace
    @PaulsPlace 10 лет назад +2

    Sweet! Worked pretty well! Now you have to make it 4x4 to move all the weight! haha looking forward to more updates/builds/romps. That 2 cyl kubota project sounds intriguing.

    • @wetheralmaplefarm
      @wetheralmaplefarm  10 лет назад

      if i could find parts aka( MTD all wheel steer axle) i would be all in for making it 4x4. and i cant wait for the diesel build as well

  • @SuPerPiTs
    @SuPerPiTs 10 лет назад +1

    So just extend it wider. Add 2 L shaped pieces of steel with a tire mounted to each one of them..

  • @prancstaman
    @prancstaman 10 лет назад +1

    Worked pretty good. Might be good idea to add an alternator to it, 10si GM would work fine around 40 amps so the engine would not strain to much. You would be able to jump start the pickup with that.

    I like this , something i wanna build just like I wanna build a loader and backhoe but this is something I think I could manage now with the time and tools and with a little more material, but I think I would make my stinger I believe is what you call it a wheel lift style

  • @redlinemotorsportts

    Shorten your boom/under reach a little bit and put your PIN behind your lifting hook so you can swivel at the lift point like on a real tow truck. That way you're not binding and picking up your front end while trying to turn

    • @wetheralmaplefarm
      @wetheralmaplefarm  7 лет назад

      Alvie Schreckhise if you watch a newer video you will see that I have a shorter boom now

  • @AtrixStout
    @AtrixStout 9 лет назад +1

    Lift the mower from the rear so your not picking up the heaviest part and lower the boom so you have less of an angle and you won't have your front end off the ground

    • @wetheralmaplefarm
      @wetheralmaplefarm  9 лет назад

      The front of tow tractor goes up when I pick the back of the tractors too. I either need more weight on the tow truck or I've been thinking of a lift axle for the back

    Pick it up from the rear and you want be doing a wheelie. If it’s 4 wheel drive, put some dolly wheels under front tires.😎

  • @MightyMoose646
    @MightyMoose646 10 лет назад +2

    If you put bigger tires on the front with tubes you can fill them with windshield washer fluid for weight.

  • @ymxb6253
    @ymxb6253 10 лет назад +1

    Maybe a wheelie bar with wheels in the back would help. Just an idea

    • @wetheralmaplefarm

    fricking sweet for the first run that was great do you think the 130# is tooooo heavy for counter weight i was thinking just another 50# or even 75# if you put to much weight up there you might have to beef up the front for the battery just use a car battery i think the charging system is not big enough to charge that deep cycle thanks Ric

  • @EminemFanatic2500

  • @SuPerPiTs
    @SuPerPiTs 10 лет назад +1

    Pretty elaborate but, should of just used the new design on a real tow truck instead of the old boom style and so it's hooked to the tires lower to the ground so instead of counter weight you could of just used a tire on each side of the lift..

    • @wetheralmaplefarm
      @wetheralmaplefarm  10 лет назад +1

      i was going to do that but than i have to make it adjustable width because i have tractors that are 2 1/2 feet wide and the 4x4 Deere is 4 feet wide. i thought that was pretty elaborate that's way i made it like this

  • @tankscrittersandurbanhomes5579

    Can you add a larger alternator. One from an electric pto tractor? Also if you move your stinger pivot points forward you should fix center of gravity steering issue
