  • A wee little update on a couple of things, and how new front tires led to a completely custom fabricated, BOMBPROOF front axle for MULE. Please note that the spacers in the rear are temporary, used to get a feel for what is to be.
    Wrench, wheel, wreck, repeat!

    Don't blame you for shutting some things down, I had to about 5'years ago, got too much "downloading" for my head also. Take care of your noggin, it really appreciate the cleansing or less junk in. Hey man, get the rest, we will understand, if some don't, then, they didn't understand to begin with. Best of luck with the rest!

    That front end setup looks really rugged doc! Want to build me one next? Lol... I've been thinking about upgrading the front end on both my rigs for a while. Going to be tricky though, both of them are very different. But I like what you have done, extending the wheelbase is a really good idea.
    WRENCH ON!

      Fearlessfront Thank you. And... Of COURSE it'll be tricky! There's only so much you can do to a machine before the challenges get greater. All part of the process, right? But- I'm sure you'll manage to think your way through it!

    Also, Love the Gilson made Lawn Boy's. I had one for a long time that was a loaner mower when I took in repairs so the customers wouldn't be without a mower. It was used and abused and survived many years. The Peerless (as we all know) has its weak points, but I've always had good luck with them so long as I thin out the Bentonite in the cases. Cheers Mate! Zip~ Oh...mine was a LT 12.

    A fixed front end means front fenders might be more easily installed, I think. I mean down the road of course. She looks wonderful as she is.

    Looks awesome. I am curious about the resistance those 22" tires added to the steering gear? Is it harder to steer with the extra width and have you thought about a steering stabilizer like what you would find on a straight axle 4x4 truck? Power assist steering?

    • @DocSprocket
      @DocSprocket  9 лет назад

      daw718 I haven't had the chance to give it the full test package yet. I CAN feel additional resistance due to the larger meats, and it was expected. For simplicity sake I will not do power steering, but I may at some point convert to a rack and pinion, or a proper steering box.

    Awesome job sir, and your machine is on a completely new level to anything else I have seen.
    Wonder do... does he have a plasma cutter? For the pure joy of creativity of course, (toys-r-us) lol.
    I have a project tractor - Westwood T14 for which I will be fabricating a front loader for. It is for use in my small woods. With inspiration from yourself and Todd C, I have already built a light off road tractor which is used daily in my couple of hectares and being small and light with a wee trailor makes life so much easier, gets under and around the trees also being of a light footprint dies not compact the ground.
    I am on the edge of the Cairngorns in N Scotland.
    Thanks for your vids sir.

    For being a Canadian, you really do like SAE/Standard over metric parts. Sound more American in that way.

    • @DocSprocket
      @DocSprocket  7 лет назад +1

      I'm a contractor by trade. A lot of contractors still work in Imperial, even though Canada has been Metric for decades. I'm fluent in both and a lot of my audience is American.
