This is my first speedrun attempt for the video game Rayman 2 on the pc.
Recording date: 02-08-'13
The run was performed in one sitting without pauses.
No fails are cut out of the recording.
No cheats or hacks are used during the run.
All 1000 lums and 80 chests are obtained.
The actual run time of the game is [03:52:40] which is timed during the video.

+M Yeah, it sort of lost the magical gracefulness shit. I don't mind Rayman Origins as a new school platformer it's nicely made but that magical shit's the missing ingredient
Origins is a masterpiece, but the music ruins it. Better to play on mute with some Pink Floyd.
Origins and legends are great platformers.
These graphics aged incredibly well.

I personally miss Rayman as a 3D action platformer. There used to be some tricky parts here and there... But it was directed mostly towards kids. Recently Rayman is only about precise platforming in 2D environment... And I kinda hate it. I used to love Rayman. But then they changed the whole idea of him being a hero, a real hero that helps people because they are in real danger... To some generic 2D crap that and the biggest villains are black magician teensies that steal girl teensies away like damsels to be saved...

Accept change. That's literally all I can say to this. Rayman Legends isn't some "generic 2D crap", even objectively seen Legends is easily one of the best platformers ever made in this era, due to excellent graphics, fantastic soundtrack, gorgeous designs and environments and one of the best gameplays I've ever experienced in a platformer.
Just sayin'. If you can tell me only one reason to hate Rayman Legends other than it's different, go ahead. But don't hate on it just because it isn't like the previous titles.
+Phantom That's actually a very good reason to dislike it. I won't deny what you said isn't true. It's a good game, but it isn't a good *Rayman* game.
The fucking memories
I got this in a package along with Rayman M and 3 along with a cd to use the printer to make cards and hangers, also had some screen saver backgrounds.
Then I bought another pack with M and 2 just to get 1 cause the game was so old nobody sold it anymore XD
When a speedrun takes almost 4 hours, you know it's a good game. I miss this game :(
im amazed by the level and music NPC creativity while it was 1999 truely amazing, though the graphics arent compareable for what we have today, this game still beats many other games

I played this game when i was like 6 or so, we didn't had a pc at home so I always went to a friend, but his mom was always complaining that we had to play outside, though it's so long ago I can still remember the first 40 minutes :D

You can cry remembering your childhood,parents, friends and crazy stuff you have done. But you feel like a boss knowing how many hours it took you to dominate this masterpiece.
In 2019 the game still looks beautiful thanks to its art direction.
The audio is awesome too.
This is one of the first games I remember beating and feeling accomplished. Its such an excellent and underrated playformer.
Only the most favorite game of mine from my childhood. Scary, exciting, funny, suspenseful, and just all around challenging. Best thing in the world

Awesome stuff=) I played this game for hundreds of hours when i was a kid, tried to find every little thing that was there. But man, that final bossfight, the first stage on that flying bomb took me hundreds of tries. I got so incredibly nervous knowing that rocket was coming after me hahahaha. Just the first 5 minutes of this video already amaze me, there's so many things i never noticed as a kid.
PS: how negative must one be to downvote this video? =ooo let's assume they are all missclicks.
And another PS!: This game has been remade already, you can get it at GOG.com (good old games, all kinds of remakes of old goldies, made compatible for modern systems)
I remember forcing my dad to play cuz i was afraid of the mosquitoes in the 1e level. Gods this game reminds me of so much.

this is the version of rayman 2 i love the most :) But i don't think i will speedrun it since i feel it is a game i want to always enjoy in the sense of just exploring and doing everything casually :)

Rayman 2 and 3 will always be in my heart. Origins and Legends are great games in their own sort of way, but I would really love Ubisoft to make a real Rayman 4. Really hope Beyond good and evil 2 will be a big success and they realize Rayman also deserves a true sequel.
the whole underground cave/swamp stuff around 2:58:00 is pretty scary, mysterious weird and almost horror like.

1:39:09 I died more than 200 times in this part of the level... I spent almost 1 hour to complete it, and it was only possible with too much luck. It was a nightmare for me. Although I still think Rayman 2 is a very good game.

I finished Rayman 1 and Rayman 2....but couldn't play Rayman 3 becuz I think it was not for free at that time...but it was a great childhood memory...love it
Yhea I remember finishing 1 and 2 as a kid, but the 3 game was too scary for me so I have never played it.
So what actually happens when you complete 100% of the game? I just finished the N64 version with all the items and I don't see anything different than when I didn't have all the lums, and I can't even save after the last level because it only says The End without nothing else to do, the only way to get out of there is to reset the game.
Ubisoft understands to not listen to their audience but instead to some out of touch ceo who knows what the right idea is. That's why Legends and Origins exist today.

Even in 2017 this game looks pretty.

I thought Rayman 2 the great escape was a phenomenal game. I liked how it focused on a quest for the masks to awaken polukus. I had it on Dreamcast many years ago. Then I eventually got it on PlayStation 3 as the ps1 download and Rayman Revolution, the revamped graphical version for ps2. The ps2 almost reminded me of the Dreamcast with a few extra bosses. It was my second favorite game next to Sonic Adventure. I might play it again. The Pirates kind of reminded me of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Admiral Razor beard was like a mechanical version of Captain Hook.
This is one of my favorite games of all time, and I have owned almost all of the different versions.
My favorite however, is actually the Playstation version, under emulation with shaders enabled.
I like the voice acting they did for that version.

I loved globox's children. When they make that squeaky noise, they sound cute. Globox's was really petrified. I would probably be scared too if I was on board a ship full of treacherous robot pirates.
The best platformer ever
I prefer the N64 version! But all versions are great, and there's no denying the DC version of this game looks gorgeous!

Theres a secret in tomb of the ancients. Just in front of the technichal check in door, type playjeff on your keyboard and a box will appear. Jump on that box and you can access a secret tunnel.

The first game I have ever played, and still the hardest.
Not sure if I'm the only one, but when I was a kid this game used to scare me always, I'm not sure why but the whole atmosphere just seemed so lifeless and creepy to me, especially in comparison to Rayman 3.

with the rayman 2 version of gog.com you can put the resolution on 1920x1080 in the settings; found in an utility in the installation folder. I used a keyboard to play this game :)
