Anybody else think this game was WAY creepier than Mario 64 as a kid? There are a lot of unsettling parts in this game like the opening, secret bad ending, art style, and just the overall atmosphere. At least this gem hasn't been creepypasta milked to hell and back.
This just makes me want a new 3D Rayman. Origins and Legends were great, but Rayman 2 was my first one. Then again…Ubisoft only cares about AC these days lol
My theory about the General is that Ed was originally sent to beat the robots but was killed (His skeleton is seen in Arena) forcing The general to destroy the Tonic and work for Razorbeard
Mystery 1: Why did they include a cheat to gain an advantage against the final boss when they could have just fixed the final phase to just NOT be nearly impossible to put up with? XD Mystery 2: IS the Cave of Bad Dreams one of the best 3D platforming stages out there? Mystery 3: Who actually WAS the Teensie King? Mystery 4: "Where am I supposed to steer this rocke-- BOOM!"
Something I’m surprised you didn’t mention is the 100% mystery commenting on Rayman being the only being in the glade who wasn’t created by Pulokus and the significance of that. Until Rayman origins revealed he was created by betilta to protect the glade from various nightmares
I feel a bigger mystery is to where do Razorbeard and the pirates come from? The manual says they are from outer space and Razorbeard has destroyed over 100 planets reducing them to cosmic dust. Which means Polokus didn't create them and they are from somewhere else out in the galaxy/universe. But where and how exactly? Did somebody on another planet build them and they went rogue? Or are they from some planet inhabited by robots like Blue Sky's Robots or William Joyce's Rolie Polie Olie (which also has a robot space pirate villain funnily enough)
This has bogged my mind for ages! It's the biggest mystery of perhaps the whole franchise, I like to think they went rogue from an original robot like planet, or maybe there's another polokus like being who had a nightmare.
Hey Jiggy! wow nice Video! Rayman 2 is one of my favourite N64 Games. i love the Music, Atmosphere and the Characters! i love that there is always something new in the Levels and look at those awesome animations during the cutscenes, spectacular for the N64 , not even Banjo Kazooie could compete! i will never forget, getting this game for christmas and studying this ingame Map that came along with the game, i sill got it. i think he shoots PowerLums, im not 100% but i think its said in the beginning. the cave of bad dreams gave me nightmares back then, especially when you slide down the cave and got that scary teeth on the edge of your screen, one of the later levels, i think its called grave of the ancient, was too much horror for me back then. man seeing your footage, makes me want to start a new file of this awesome game! i love these running bombs, those level were so much fun! one of my favourites Characters, are the Pirates in this game. Espcially Henchman 802, there is something about their design that stuck with me to this day, drawing that skull anywhere i can. in Rayman M i always choose the Pirate, he is so cool! Kalibru Stu!
Hey thanks for watching! Not sure about the Powerlum part but perhaps it’s in another version? There are a bunch! I hope you do replay it! It really holds up well!
06:23 considering that Yellow Lums aren't the only lums to get a giant virant it is safe to assume that they're just 5 lums fused together because in Rayman Hoodlums' Revenge, Rayman 3 GBA and both the game boy and DS version of Rayman Raving Rabbids do not have Super Lums and in Rayman Origins and Adventure we have the king Lums who also worth 5 lums so for him it's the other proposition
Just stumbled across this video while looking up the soundtrack for the game. I played Rayman 3 the most, I remember this one less. What a nice throwback, fun video!
My bro I searched for banjo kazooie facts and I watched your video and then I searched for Rayman 2 facts and your video come up, both are my childhood best games. Got something in common
I've never seen anyone talk about the very last page from the Knowledge of the World, which you unlock for finding the very last yellow lum in the game. It states that Polokus doesn't know where "you" (Rayman) is from, he never created Rayman like he did with everything within Rayman 2. This fact supports the idea that in Rayman 1, we are based on Rayman's home world, where all NPCs and creatures are limbless just like Rayman himself. If this theory is true, then at some point Rayman was transported from his original world to The Glade of Dreams and has stayed ever since. Albeit, this gap in the continuity has never been explained. I always wondered why everyone in Rayman 1 was limbless but in Rayman 2 nobody else was, apart from the General. I think we're rewarded with a hint to this by collecting all of the yellow lums that allude to this potentiality in the very last page of the Knowledge of the World. Rayman is The Glade of Dreams' undisputed hero as show by all it's denizens, and a complete anomaly to Polokus. It's not hard to stretch the idea where Polokus who can simply dream about something and that shall become real, perhaps he dreamt about Rayman and these four magical masks that're seal by podiums with Rayman's crest/signature "O", and a hero (from Rayman's world) would one day come and help him save his Glade of Dreams.
In the PS2 version AKA Revolution Rayman does start off with only being able to punch with his fists but then when finishing the Woods Of Light the Teensises give Rayman a Silver Lum that Ly left behind before she was captured thus granting Rayman the ability throw energy spheres.
Another theory I had in mind was, “who is the real king of the teensies?” Since they have forgotten who was king after the pirates invaded up the point where they appreciate Rayman for the being he is, they consider Rayman their potential king (they also do state “you’re the one who should be our king” in the PS1 version of Rayman near the end) so unbeknownst to Rayman himself, he might as well be the true king of teensies. But that’s just a mystery.
@@jiggylookback If you love the atmosphere maybe you'll be interested to watch a 3D animation I made based on Rayman 2. I tried to make a remake/reimagining of the game if it came out today, without the graphical limitations from 1999.
Here's a mystery; does Rayman 2 have different universes across the different game systems that just have a lot of similarities between them? Like nearly every version has at least one thing different from the others. Just looking too deep into the different versions lol.
@@jiggylookback to help you i planned on talking about THIS special lums in one of my theory but the 1000th is only special in Rayman 2 and the GBA version of Rayman 3
Ahh Rayman 2, the second game I ever played on PC. Well attempted, my grandma's old Gateway ran like shit. I still replay it every couple of years. An official remaster would be cool with all the content from Revolution.

he doesn't respawn in the cell because they take his powers that's one of his powers. if he dies in the cell he won't respawn. what kind of surprised body just doesn't fall apart when they took his powers😂
If you compare the english version to the french voices it's like night and day. Jano actually sounds intimidating in it and Razorbeard sounds like a demon rather than Yosemite Sam lol :P Raymanian always on top though, i feel like it adds to the eerieness in that they all speak in a foreign language u can't really understand

Well you first say they don't kill him cuz he will teleport away so they put him in laser cell but if he kills himself in there he cant teleport and will die, so why dont they take him to a spot like that or kill him in his cell if he cant teleport, game mechanics are hard to explain away i know. He is in a cell on a very large pirate like thousands of other beings from his world, it is more likely i think, they didn't really know he was special before invading his world and treated him much like all the other creatures they found.
