Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time Developers React to Speedrun

- After the reaction we got from developers Toys For Bob for the Crash Bandicoot 4 demo, we knew we had to have them back on for a full episode. Well, almost a full episode. Turns out, Crash 4 is a long game no matter how fast you play it, so we let speedrunner Riko_KSB choose which levels he wanted the developers to see. So while this isn't the full Crash 4 speedrun, it's still almost an hour of hilarious goofs and reactions. Enjoy!

I love how chill they are, the speedrunner is breaking the game and they are just laughing at it
as a SMW rom hack creator I also fall in laughts when I see players finding ways to break my levels designs.
It just blows my mind to see new ways on how people play my games, I usually react like : "Wow, i never expected this guy to do this"
A Crash *Bandicoot* game - should *not* - be broken: this, *ridiculous....*

When the devs *don't* CATCH: something like these "tricks" and glitches... ( *Flyng up into the air,* practically **on a whim** - with powerups... Skipping half a level, by going over it.. or *underneath* it. )
Etc... in a Crash: "BANDICOOT" game...?
They make the *game* feel so:
*unbelievably* cheap.
Dev- " I dunno if you guys realize he's talking about marvel while shredding this level." Just hilarious

@@jmp01a24 It's far from broken, they need to search for hours to find those bugs and loop holes. You'll never find those if you play like a normal human being.
From the perspective of a speedrunner this video just reinforces to me that there's nobody better suited to leading the Crash franchise than Toys for Bob.

Debatable cause we have yet seen what Vicarious Visions could do in making a new adventure Crash game on the big screen. Was pretty surprised that they weren't in charge of making CB4.

Devs always pretend to feel so humiliated by the speedruners when it really is the ultimate way of showing respect to them. It means someone loved your game enough to spend A LOT of hours mastering it.
is got to be bittersweet, they put in the time, but it was spend finding flaws on their work.
@@damp2269 Some argue that art, once released to the public eye or consumption, isn't your art anymore. It is essentially free to be reinterpreted, reinvented, destroyed, rebuilt, etc. Speedrunners break down a game without tons of hours of dedicated gameplay, using exploits and glitches. It's a different type of respect, a type of collaboration that turns a game into a canvas, although through identifying the quirks and flaws that a developer may of left in the game intentionally or not. Sometimes speedruns don't use glitches at all!

Hey devs! As someone who breaks out of bounds in games as a hobby, Yes we run into walls and corners and other objects and assets. We find something that works funny and we keep poking at it until it breaks. There's always this amazing feeling of discovery when you find a seem for a world and shove yourself through it :)

You can tell these devs really enjoy their jobs and that usually is also indictive of the company atmosphere and work environment so that's really awesome. Just the boys making games together kind of vibes. Im a fan of toys for bob now

These devs should be proud. Most Speed runs of games are like sub 10 or even up to 30 mins tops. At least this one banked a nice hour plus. =) I will say the devs in this video were some of the most entertaining from this series.

When devs are cool like this and realize that Therese more than one way to play a game (casual, speedruner, competitive etc) and kind of cater to each crowd all in one game. It adds to value of the game and replay ability.

Speedrunning community goes hand in hand with dataminers and people knowledgeable in programming, so they kind of know what to look for.
I loved this react, specially the fun facts about the maps and lore, the "Schmeargle" creature was hilarious.
