Uploaded this in an Internet cafe at 5am in Tokyo 😅 only place I could find fast enough internet. Thank you for being there everyone. I literally owe everything to you guys. Hopefully the channel isn’t punished too harshly for not uploading. It’s been rough lately but I’m back in it! Much love and have a great day. WE ARE VR!!
Your awesome Thrill, we love you and we love your content! I hope that stuff gets better soon.. It'll be alright and it'll get better! Have a wonderfull day Thrill! ALSO 5 AM, I hope that you got some sleep, please do in the future!
Thrill.. from a 48yr old who's seen everything from the original Pong to the most cutting edge tech today, I don't think you need to stress about the future of VR. Sure, sometimes new stuff takes a while to get going - you always get the naysayers who 'don't see the point', but if we look at the recent past in tech, things have absolutely blown up - I mean, the Internet itself took a while to get going and now look where we are... I think what I'm saying is things can't happen without people like yourself enthusing about it - RUclips, for all its sins - is a very powerful platform, and it WILL push the message out there that VR and AR is a thing. Yes.. I wish the PSVR2 hadn't been such a flop - but that's pretty much on Sony - and yes, I wish Meta hadn't dominated the VR space for so long as I firmly believe that, while the hardware is awesome, the marketing strategy has been utterly baffling and has done WAY more damage than anything else. Keep making the videos... keep entertaining the fans.. and most of all... keep believing.
As a longtime sw engineer (40 yrs) it is good to see you enjoying building your own thing! It can be frustrating and sometimes infuriating but just keep your cool and be curious when things don’t work as you expected. Always be learning. Best of luck to you!
Devlogs are actually one of my favourite videos to watch on YT whenever I'm learning Blender or Unreal Engine or even Unity because it's oddly inspiring seeing what other people are working on, it'd be sick to see one of those on this channel! Welcome back Thrill 👏
Plus, not a bad idea for someone teaching themselves to put all of their progress online for critique. The only reason Notch was able to complete a functional game was because he regularly posted updates on a forum where people were able to point out all of the hacky solutions he'd made and better alternatives.
Welcome back Thrill! Also, as one of the developers on the HL2VR mod project, I would like to say Thank you for playing our mod, i was stoked to see you include it as a majority of footage in this video and I hope you had a wonderful experience ingame.
Thank you for creating hl2vr mod and delivering to the people for FREE. Brought me back to my childhood plying half-life 2 with my dad. Being inside the game for the first time gave me a mystical experience I was practically crying. Also the game is just so immersive and smooth and well optimized for VR. Just thank you. The game feels like it was made for VR. The gunplay and platforming, puzzles etc translate perfectly to VR. 💛
You & your team are responsible for enabling one of the greatest gaming experiences ever! HL2-VR (and also RE4-VR on Quest2) really prove that most of those classic FPS of the 00's can be converted to VR. Imagine F.E.A.R, Bioshock, Metro, Halo in VR....
I missed you so much, you and Habie143 are my weekly happiness and joy, wayching someone else as happy and loving about vr as I am makes me so happy, my quest 2 stopped wanting to cooperate with me last weekend, so now I'm just makinh videos, and it felt so weird, not having someone I've been watching since late 2019, but I'm so happy you're back. Thank you for being you Thrill
I would absolutely LOVE a devlog series! I watch devlogs all the time and would love to watch you do it too! I personally have been in the gamedev space since a bit before Covid and its hard but so worth it! My advice is to keep the scope small and do it how you want, how you enjoy doing it. Good luck!
This is why I love this guy, he genuinely loves what he talks about and loves his community. I discovered his channel a few months ago and I’ve already watched almost every video. He made me get back into vr and he makes me super excited about what’s next for vr. This guy is AMAZING.
The state of VR is going to get really interesting considering we were down the AR path already in 2014 & 2015 with VR phone passthrough. It was then all but abandoned when the stand alone headsets came out at least for the standard consumers. Now it's back after 9 years and I think we will see many AR improvements and AR enhanced capabilities. I am excited for the new gen of AR and the updates to VR in general. Of course as stated it will ultimately be up to the software. Might have to hop back on the dev horse sometime soon myself.
Regarding AR, it goes back even further. The 3DS was doing that back in 2010, as were the phones of that era. They just werent using AR for VR purposes.
Moving is stressful enough without worrying about other things on top of it, so i think it's good you took a break from producing videos this past month. That's really exciting that you're working on a game!
Thrill, I'm glad to hear that you took a break for yourself (voluntary or not). I couldn't imagine consistently uploading awesome and greatly edited videos every week for even more than a month. And as for devlogs, I would love to see devlogs from you! You're one of the main reasons why I got into VR and my go to person whenever I need advice on such a topic. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying yourself and I can't wait to see what's coming up in the future, whatever it may be.
I've had my quest for about 18 months now and even if I never get anything new for it anymore I will 100% have periods of peaking VR interest over the years. Oh and shout out to the flat2vr community, you guys are the lifeblood of PCVR!
Thrill! We would all LOVE to see devlogs! Devlogs are some of my favourite videos to watch (dani where have you been T-T) and i think this community would be ecstatic to see some devlogs on your game. also love the vids its great to hear you talk about vr stuff again :)
Been such a long time viewer being in awe with all of this new VR stuff you cover and how amazing it all was and still is, and recently buying an Index myself I can absolutely say without a doubt that its worth hyping up!
Hey there Thrill. Something you should know is nobody does this like you do. You don't have to be perfect at this, we come to see you so you don't need to try and make everything perfect. Take the time you need whenever you need, we'll still be here. Though I would be sad if you left for good. As another person who really wants to see VR succeed (and has been working towards that end for a very long time), I totally get the ups and downs getting to you. It's so annoying seeing a tech with so much promise get sidelined because of a couple of small niggling issues we don't have a great answer to yet. But we will, it will get better! Also I love watching devlogs, could be good for people to see VR-specific design decisions and problems too! I'd definitely watch devlogs made by you.
Everyone needs a break every once in a while and you’re no different. Life gets in the way. You are also following your passion so you do what you need to do! If your RUclips numbers start falling, we’ll just rewatch your other great videos over again! We will always have your back! Thank you for all that you do for VR and this community!
I've been watching for nearly 3 years now and I still make sure to tune in every time you post. QOTW: Other than Full-dive and the VR treadmill from Ready Player One, what VR tech are you most excited for?
That’s awesome that you’re making a game. But wow, that’s gotta be difficult. I don’t expect it to be good, not because I doubt your ability, but because of how learning new things works. I wouldn’t be suprised if this game was simply a learning experience to be restarted later. Definitely share more about it, you will learn a ton from other developers
Love hearing from you again and also that you took some time off! Your videos have sparked me when I’ve been low and voiced my feelings on the incredible potential that I feel for this space when I have a mind melting moment of immersion. Thanks for all you do, much love.
I am very excited to see what kind of game you will make for VR, I'm sure if there's anyone out there able to make a great VR game it's you, and I'd love to see updates on it!
You literally got me into VR with Phia and i met in the past year so many awesome persons, that i am even just weeks before visiting one of them! Been a hell of a ride and i am looking forward what the future holds for VR! :) Keep on doing that good stuff, i love the energy behind you for doing those videos :D
Been following you since 10k subs :) Love your channel and I really hope VR continues to develop. I imagine with AI taking all our jobs, a virtual economy is going to be needed. I believe most will just work in VR
Bro we all suffer with imposter syndrome, but you must remember friend that for five years you've worked your but off to create what ThrillSeeker is today. You've earned all of this around you and you deserve every beautiful moment it brings. Firm handshake 🤝 Well done you're a champion, keep up the fantastic work you do. ❤
Theyre neat, but I don't think thats the real game changer. The pancake lenses, increased resolution and refresh rate, and the return of actual ipd adjustment is bigger imo. The problem with both the quest 1 and 2 is that they both have a really bad screendoor effect, and the lenses used create distracting lighting artifacts. I think with the quest 3, its more important that the overall user experience is more comfortable.
When I saw the notification of your video drop I got super excited, I don't participate in any community very often, but I just wanted to say you are a creator I found on my own, you answered my initial question and so much more. For the past maybe 3 years of watching your stuff I can honestly say I've enjoyed your content. So, Thanks Thrill. 😊
You are mine and probably many others go to channel for anything vr/ar. We love what you do! Your channel is the only channel I always know what I’m going to watch but also has the element of something new and exciting. Keep it up because you deserve it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Honestly, meta has done an amazing job bringing VR to consumers, love them or hate them. I can't wait for super immersive tech that can basically make you feel like you're in the room with someone on the other side of the planet and have otherworldly experiences. I haven't played VR in a while and have a Rift S but I was waiting for the Deckard for a while now. Maybe I'll get the Quest 3 instead although the whole FB account debacle really put me off for a while
Glad you're back, but also glad you got a break! Also excited to hear you're working on a VR game! Devlog stuff would be super interesting no matter how or where the development goes. It'd just be cool to hear more about what you're up to in that endeavor!
Aaaaaaand I keep catching up with all your content. By the time iou released this video I got my own quest 2 getting deep into this universe you introduced in my head. Thanks again, I'll drop another comment when I finally finish my journey through all your videos 😊
I went down a similar path as you. I started a VR RUclips channel when the original Quest came out, and due to the lack of content decided to try my hand at development and my title has shot up to the top 5 apps on App Lab and stayed there over the last 2 years and is now my career. I am just about to update my app from a single detailed dark ride, to an online, open world Theme Park with that one initial ride so far that allows you to ride with loved ones and family which is surprisingly magical. No idea where it is all going, but it does appear people want a VR Theme Park, especially one with my next ride, The Haunted Castle. I wish you all the best with your development too. It is a very challenging and rewarding space for sure.
Thanls for opening up, no worries about the month long break. We are in it for the long-run and the older I get myself the more I believe in these words.
As an occasional Quest 2 user, I am really looking forward to the better ergonomics/packaging of the Quest 3. Better lenses, slightly higher resolution, way smaller package, depth sensor. All meaningful improvements over the bulky brick the Quest 2 was.
I use my Q2 daily but only for Bigscreen. if the Q3 is all it's cracked up to be then it might just mark for me the transition from console to VR gaming.
I've been here since day one man. And you are still the best, most interesting, most entertaining vr videos out there. I've been in gaming since Atari and ran a chain of arcades in the early 90s. So yeah, im 48 too. Opening up today was awesome man and that month break will keep you fresh. Do it more than once my friend, you deserve it!
Welcome back homie.🎉 remember there is a thing called over working yourself. So always keep in mind it's good to take a step back and breath. Even if it's a day, week, month it's always good to get a refresher to keep your clarity and peace of mind.
you are the only vr content creator i watch and ive been itching to see this video haha, im gonna gonna a quest 3 as soon as i can but ill still be looking forward to see your review of it because you have used lots of other head sets
Heck yeah! Missed you and love the long term outlook. There are ebbs and flows and that's with everything we're passionate about. I have 2 Quest Pros and a Quest 2 because I enjoy getting to do fun co-op things with family and friends from shooters to mini golf. They're timeless activities. When things get even better, I'll be celebrating those moments as well. Best of luck on your game! Can't wait to try it. Solo dev is super daunting but rewarding nonetheless and I believe your community has your back no matter what. Thank you for doing what you do and for being vulnerable about everything.
I just found your channel and have just recently started getting into VR/ AR. I`m excited about all the possibilities! I`m very familiar with getting a bit burnt out even with things that you love and have a passion for. Just take a step back and focus on other things for a bit and come back with a fresh mind and a new perspective! I love to see your passion and honesty here and that's why I`m subscribed now... I look forward to more content!
I want to leave a comment because I want to support the channel, but the only thing I can think of other than saying how good the video is would asking about if it's worth living in japan? I've been thinking about it for a while, but never had the time to organize said thoughts
You're the only VR content creator who gets it. I've been saying for years now with the constant release of new headset it's become stupid that there's no new games to support them. They expect us to spend hundreds if not thousands to upgrade just to play the same damn games. I bought a Quest Pro and while it's a nice upgrade, I hardly use it after the first week. Like how many new headsets do we need to play Beat Saber.
Yay you’re back! Also as I was watching the video I was thinking that the sound design of your game is gonna be sick! I really love your music too I’m excited to what that’ll bring to your game!
Well no quest 3 for this wolf. Pico 4 isnt that much slower if only VRchat and some steamVR :D. But I do hope it will bring in huge amount of new people, fingers crossed the event will be good this time.. .looking at u pro.. But ty as always and nice to see a vid from u again
Good luck to your new endeavors! Keep up the vids and I will keep watching. You helped me push to go all in with VR and I love it. I am losing weight with my KAT C2 and getting some mental health breaks from my crazy life atm. Keep up the great work!
Welcome back to my homepage of RUclips also VR Development from the ground up is hard don't punish yourself for getting stuff wrong and taking more time than you think it should.
It was a very insightful and inspirational video. Making me look even more forward to what VR has in store over the next few years. Keep up the good work and as always, just loving your content.
I’ve never used VR save for a few test in Unreal using the early HTC Vive. TBH I watch your videos because I like keeping up with the state of various tech. That being said I love that you have a vision for VR and commit your time to help that vision come to life. One thing that is missing for people outside of VR is understanding the appeal of the tech and why people in VR are so excited about it. I think that a cool project for you (in order to fulfill your vision) would be to help the masses see and understand concretely what’s so cool about, what’s in it for them today, etc. I think that’s what this industry is missing most - mass appeal
thrill, i think i speak for most of us, we do appreciate the content of course, but we are also here because of you. i honestly dont keep up with vr news unless its from you, no matter how long it takes. if you need time, take it. its more than deserved.
Loved the statement. I wrote my BA thesis on VR gaming and social experiences back in 2006 when VR was dead and inexistent and I was referring to earlier hypes in the 1990s, basically predicting the kinds of "metaverses" and VR chats and whatnot we're only seeing the dawn of today. We're not even really 2nd gen yet if we're being honest here, like the Quest 3 isn't really as different to the 2 as the different PlayStation consoles were to one another. VR isn't just special. It will be the future. It is the original immersion and it will hold our worlds and dreams. We will go shopping in VR, travel in VR. I really hope it won't take away the !real", physical experiences from us, but it sure will be simultaneous, parallel, social worlds and experiences, and some people will prefer those. You're right to believe. Let's try and make it a great place, together.
Take all the time you need. Moving is a huge time sink we get it. We'll be here when you get back. Can't wait to see the game you're working on! #savememebreak
Super exciting stuff. hell yeah I’d love to see some devlog content. happy you had a good break. I’m hoping the quest 3 really hits the nail on the head w/some new very needed software
honestly i dont care how much time off you would need, if i can watch your videos thats nice but if those videos are made when you arent happy with yourself, it shows. and i hope that you can find your balance between working and relaxing, dont overwork yourself. take your time. you deserve it.
Thrillseeker: so in his break-month(that he didn't know he needed). He's moving, making this video and taking inspiration in Japan and helping VR-developers make games. And he's also making his own VR-game. Me: twiddling my thumbs
I think an important part of VR is the flatscreen-to-vr modding communities. I've been enjoying Resident Evil 2 in VR for quite some time, and I've heard a sentiment from another RUclipsr that it's the only thing keeping VR relevant these days. Hell, you have footage of HL2VR right in the video! It's a really overlooked area that a lot more people should delve into.
I'm really glad that they went with LCD. It's the main reason I will consider upgrading. I want to be able to use my headset nearly every day for it's lifespan without getting burn in. The worse black levels are much easier to ignore than logos and game HUDs burned into your display.
Uploaded this in an Internet cafe at 5am in Tokyo 😅 only place I could find fast enough internet.

Meta is absolutely garbage, money hungry, and utterly aimless company.
better than spending a 1500 dollars on a vr only@@MSpotatoes
@@MSpotatoesdid you just point out 99.99% of company’s xD?
its awesome how passonate you are about VR, what keeps me coming back to this channel even if there is a break here and there.
Into the radius 2 on quest 3 is what I need.
Into the diameter

Commenting to help boost. Glad to have you back! You my favorite VR news creator anywhere so was super excited to see a new video drop.
Love it when tuesday newsday comes out on a friday 😂
Woohoo he's back and with devlog omg please please please I will watch every second of devlog 🙏
I cant wait to finally make the jump from my quest 1 to the 3, will hopefully be a world of difference
spongebob is better
Going from trying out my friends quest 1 to quest 2 was night and day; I can only imagine goin from 1 to 3 will be jaw dropping!
you get to say goodbye to seeing pixels
Same here, dude 🤝 Was kinda mad when the 2 came out just months after I got the 1, but i'm glad i waited for this
Glad you're back, but also glad you got a break! Also excited to hear you're working on a VR game! Devlog stuff would be super interesting no matter how or where the development goes. It'd just be cool to hear more about what you're up to in that endeavor!
Try not to compliment Meta too much, we dont want them getting too much of an ego.
spongebob better
Aaaaaaand I keep catching up with all your content. By the time iou released this video I got my own quest 2 getting deep into this universe you introduced in my head. Thanks again, I'll drop another comment when I finally finish my journey through all your videos 😊
I can almost guarantee that I’m gonna get a quest 3. I held off from the quest 2 but i think the jump from rift s to quest 3 might be amazing for me
Bot
I'm a simple man with simple comments: I see Thrill upload, I click watch & click like

Dude, yours is literally one of my favorite channels on the Tube. Certainly the VR channel I get the most information from
I just got my index lol and I’m still getting quest videos 💀💀💀, but I still can’t wait to see the quest 3
spongebob better
im sorry but why would u get an index rn
why would u get an index
Index is a great headset but it probably would’ve been better to wait for this or the new valve headset
@@NinDendo64 Blud it’s valve. They aren’t releasing a headset or even revealing information for a while. Best to get an index now
loved the intro!! Coffee is key!
I love your content. I think your break won't hurt your channel too badly. This video showed up fairly quickly for me, at least.
Thrill! I knew something was missing from my life. 🎉 Glad you're back!
Didn't know how much I missed Tuesday Newsday untill the intro started playing. Glad to have you back!
Thanls for opening up, no worries about the month long break. We are in it for the long-run and the older I get myself the more I believe in these words.
"VR is in a weird spot right now"
the info card suggesting "the untimely demise of the meta quest pro" after that sentence is such a good detail
Taking 'time off' once in awhile is a great thing - it brings clarity & freshness. Glad you're back.
had to throw a good like and a comment to help your vids get back onto people's recommended!
I always enjoy your content when they come out.
Welcome back. We missed you but self care is key! Looking forward to your VR project and loving your content.
I’m pre-ordering. Love my Quest 2 but the Quest 3 is objectively better in so many ways, spec wise.
Everyone deserves a break/vacation. I'm glad you were in a position to take one. :) Hoping your move finishes well.
Welcome back to my homepage of RUclips also VR Development from the ground up is hard don't punish yourself for getting stuff wrong and taking more time than you think it should.
always love when creators take breaks from youtube and prevent burn-out(not sarcastic)
i know i'm a bit biased as an aspiring game developer, but personally, i for one would absolutely LOVE a dev log series
It was a very insightful and inspirational video. Making me look even more forward to what VR has in store over the next few years. Keep up the good work and as always, just loving your content.
Glad you're back making content for the people and keeping up the hope in AR and VR!
Me coming onto RUclips once a day to check when the next video comes out.
IT'S HERE AND IT'S BIG!
Thanks Thrill, the only youtuber I actively watch.
Mate, don't worry. I come here for the quality of your videos, and everybody needs a break every now and then.
You my Friend… have officially earned a Subscriber. I loved this video and it’s message. Thank you for opening up to us, and keep being you. 🙂🙂
I think that a cool project for you (in order to fulfill your vision)
would be to help the masses see and understand concretely what’s so cool about, what’s in it for them today, etc.
I think that’s what this industry is missing most - mass appeal
Ahh i missed these “Tuesday” Newsday videos 😭 welcome back thrill
I fell off for a while with YT. I don't think your channel will suffer much. Your videos are too amazing!
thrill, i think i speak for most of us, we do appreciate the content of course, but we are also here because of you. i honestly dont keep up with vr news unless its from you, no matter how long it takes. if you need time, take it. its more than deserved.
Your vr avatar is so cute
Welcome back, Thrill. I've missed your videos and I'll be looking forward to your devlogs.
Welcome back :D
I am exited for your future projects!
Welcome back! Sounds like an exciting time in your life.
Thanks for letting us know where you're at, I hope the project goes smoother than you're anticipating
Take time when you need it man... Don't worry about the algorithm, it served you up to me right away. Excited you're back though🎉
honestly i dont care how much time off you would need, if i can watch your videos thats nice but if those videos are made when you arent happy with yourself, it shows. and i hope that you can find your balance between working and relaxing, dont overwork yourself. take your time. you deserve it.

so in his break-month(that he didn't know he needed). He's moving, making this video and taking inspiration in Japan and helping VR-developers make games. And he's also making his own VR-game.

I can only imagine the work and dedication, can't be easy. Thank you and keep it up even if it's a bit less frequent. It's all well done.
This video released copious amounts of dopamine into my brain
