sorry homes,i was just a bit confused as to your comment.Like hey this shit sounds hella 90's! So I was like yeah....that's because uuh…..it is lol I didn't realize you were one of these I dig stating the painfully obvious folks.
Its the reason I always roll my eyes whenever I hear weird boomers complaining about the Zs dying their hair as if that wasn't exactly the same thing their indy kid parents did or indeed their punk rocker grandparents did. I despair that the same stupid accusations we put up with as Xs are the same shit they are labeling our kids with just because they wanna enjoy youth by being young. And thats not even starting on the shit hand they've been dealt with in the housing and rent markets. We never fucking learn.
In 1995, in Fribourg, Switzerland, my friend Jeremy and I were walking towards the Frison hall to attend the FooFighter concert and there a van stopped next to us. The van passengers were looking for the concert hall. We showed them the way. They then offered to take us there. Once in the van we saw the musical instruments and recognized the members of the group That Dog!!! Really cool and nice people! Love you That Dog!! Peace
This is so ridiculously good! The composition, the harmonies, the violin, and the drumming is just so well done! I'm just blown away! I never knew about this band in the 90's and I'm perplexed how they never got radio play. It's a crime and it makes me sick! I just found them yesterday and now I'm going to make up for lost time by playing this over and over for the next few months.
The bassist, Rachel Haden sings on Weezer's "I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams". Both Rachel and her sister Petra (the violinist) were in The Rentals. Rachel sang backing vocals and Petra sang backing vocals and played violin.
this song was my coming out song... for my 14th birthday, my friends got me tickets to see that dog at soma in 1994 with the queers and jawbreaker. gotta find my ticket somewhere... we hung out with karl from the say it aint' so video... doing the laundry and also at the merch table was joey waronker... we all were hanging out and was invited to sit on the sidestage to see jawbreaker. good times to be growing up listening to some of the best damn music of the times!
how did i miss this in the 90's? loved all the girl power pop fuzz. liz phair to the breeders and everyone else. and i never heard this band. they came up on pandora when i made a sleater kinney channel. my new fave......love that dog
Takes me back. I can't believe this great tune is 26 years old. Ffs. Subtract 26 years from the year it was released it you'd have 1969!!! Taped this one off Rage back in the day. Thank you Rage!!!
I feel the same way. I don't remember ever hearing this band in the 90's. I watched 120 minutes every week trying to discover new music too. Funny how different things were before the internet came along.
@@wangdoodlemisanthrope3020 Thanks for the info, but I know they were a 90s band. I just meant that they really exemplify the alt-rock sound of that era. I remember Green Day talking them up in interviews back then, but I never got around to checking them out until nearly 25 years later. Crazy.
@skaneverdies i was a subscriber to a magazine called huH back in the 90's and they used to send out compilation cds and videos on vhs and i remember this video on one of the vhs tapes. i loved those compilations. i would watch them over and over. hope that helps!
I saw That Dog at a small club back in 95(ish) when they opened for the Foo Fighters on their first tour. I ran into Anna (literally) as she was leaving the concession area a few minutes after her set. She's as beautiful in person as she is in this video- she's pretty short too.
I found out the lead singer (the blonde) is the daughter of Donna Loren: a teen beauty queen, Dr. Pepper spokes girl, actress for beach movies, and pop singer
@jdugmar i don't know about the lead singer, but yep, you nailed it..that is def the drummer..and that makes sense..as matt sharp and some of these girls were friends
easily one of the coolest bands of the 90s. loooove them. my band just made our first music video for our first album; That Dog is definitely an influence. i'm posting our video of "Clementine" as a video comment! if you're into it, like it here and sub it!!

More people play more instruments than literally ever in history. If they don't do it in a way that pleases you, that's your problem and nobody else's.
One of the best, most underrated bands.
Definitely one of the most overlooked bands of the 90s.
The incorporation of violins alongside the guitars and drums is perfection with this band. Great Coming Out tune as well.
also listen to yellow card, ocean avenue. :)
Super '90s, right down to the quiet-loud-quiet-loud, the fuzz bass and the two-tone hair.
They have been around that long
Yes it's from 1995

This is the most 90s 90s band ever and I adore that

Soft heavy soft heavy, crashing drums. So 90s. Brilliant song!
Do you refer to Creep?
Remember seeing them in Atlanta with the Amps and Foo Fighters.
Really cool people, hung out and talked to Rachel and Tony.
I saw that dog open for Weezer during the blue album tour I was impressed
I think at least one member of the band collaborated with Weezer, actually.
The bassist, Rachel Haden sings on Weezer's "I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams". Both Rachel and her sister Petra (the violinist) were in The Rentals. Rachel sang backing vocals and Petra sang backing vocals and played violin.
I was also at that show. Small world. I remember that Dave Grohl had Petra come on stage during the encore to sing Floaty.
More bands need violin breakdowns.

This is awesome! Can't believe I missed this in the 90s! Come out wherever you are! Really progressive and rockin too!
I love this band so much! Here’s to more That Dog in 2019 🥂
new album has some good songs. they still have their sound.
Still play that bass riff as a warm up

Rage rage rage
Raaaaaaaaaage
Now I'm totally confused how did I miss this band.
Are you THIS confused?

Because you are most likely under 40 years old. 🤔
@@ericapnea Oh, I certainly am... Shit, that’s how I found out about this band!
Do you know Bevis and Butthead?
I feel the same way. I don't remember ever hearing this band in the 90's. I watched 120 minutes every week trying to discover new music too. Funny how different things were before the internet came along.
So pumped for the That Dog reunion! 😍
This was me in the 90s... I wish i knew of this band and song back then. :(
Great band with kickass guitars and violin!
Ah this is taking me back to my childhood where I would watch alot of them coming of age movies where you hear songs such as these in the soundtrack
This is good! Nice ultra-90s sound.
They were around then.I have a rock video monthly vhs with their song Old Timer and Green Day Long View

Awesome Track, the Feedback inbetween chords starting at 1:36 and Anna's face with the lollipop at 3:00 ......Grrrrrrrrr
the Power Pop side of Alternative Rock during the post-Grunge era
Never say never.
Alongside Weezer, Nada Surf, Verucca Salt, etc
This is not making me die...
wow! that's really awesome. good old days
Brilliant
There’s always support if you need it... Mary has gone but I’m here.
thanks mark!
anyone 2019 ???
2020 and 2021 reporting for duty!
How did I never know about this song???
This band is very good friends with Weezer, and also The Rentals
Good times
This is the most 90s band
Petra is all like "hell no" on the shirt
@skaneverdies i was a subscriber to a magazine called huH back in the 90's and they used to send out compilation cds and videos on vhs and i remember this video on one of the vhs tapes. i loved those compilations. i would watch them over and over. hope that helps!
Dat Dog

and as an added bonus, Petra (I think) came out and sang "Floaty" during the Foo Fighters set.
I found out the lead singer (the blonde) is the daughter of Donna Loren: a teen beauty queen, Dr. Pepper spokes girl, actress for beach movies, and pop singer
shes also daughter of lenny waronker plus 2 daughters of charlie haden in band
Tanya Haden is married to jack black
hey maybe a dumb question but is it possible to get sheet music for the violin part of this song anywhere?
Nobody:
Absolutely no one:
2:08: Violin Solo.
Check out Camper Van Beethoven
Beavis and Butt-Head send me here! 😎
oodly oodly fun fun day
Saw them xfest! Woohoo
I just think it's a great song regardless of content! Easy on the ears!
@jdugmar i don't know about the lead singer, but yep, you nailed it..that is def the drummer..and that makes sense..as matt sharp and some of these girls were friends

120 Minutes flashback
I've always interpreted this song to be about a girl that has a secretly gay boyfriend. I might be missing the mark on this one tho lol
me too😂
is it one of the hotel rooms in twin peaks? :D
back in cali, AreOh Vee days OC t.v. Alt Videos. before you tube there were indie bands until later 2000's they got to get more exposure. mid 90's were great. i didnt know this song was all about coming out... i never really listemed to the lyrics.. what a dip shit i was. oh god.
HAPPY NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY!!!!
I wish I was Anna's guitar tech.
Petra!
If it weren't for Beavis and Butt-Head, I would never have discovered this.
Lol only came across this band while looking up songs used in Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Props for people kissing just for fun.
Luved spin the bottle at Teenage parties back in the day, only ever had one scrubber refuse the kiss and i'm glad she did :p
...my names Christian
So kiss me
happy pride month everyone
Is that Micheal stipe there
Well he's gay so it'd make sense
@moxieo That doesn't look like Anna in the Weezer video. Maybe she's changed since high school--she's totally nice!
When people actually sang and played instruments OMG
Oh please enough of that crap.
flyingwillounet because it's sadly true.
What a stupid thing to say

@@clort123 missed The point

Seether is neither black nor white..........
Can't fight this either
@moxieo or a famous brother who happens to have made a better album.
That Dog might be nice, but they cannot stand up to Walt Mink.
update, 10 years later: that dog is pretty cool
