I got to spend a morning skiing on the Mirus Cor at a Black Crows Ski Sauvage event at Killington back at the beginning of December. I own a pair of Armada Strangers which are designed to do something similar, the Mirus Cor is vastly superior in that its lighter and holds an edge much better. Your review is interesting in that it seems to compare performance against a bunch of all mountain skis, which the Mirus Cor is not. I skied the 178 like you and I weigh 205lbs, they were the perfect replacement for my Elan SLX Slalom skis, with the added advantage of stability in length (165 vs. 178) with a similar turning radius. They are not designed for ultra fast Super G runs, I have other skis that can do that. This ski is on my shopping list, and I will have a pair for next season, as a predominantly East Coast skier, this is the perfect ski for groomed east coast hills, it will bring a smile to your face. Totally agree, I do think though that knowing the skis limits would be important for people bc it's definitely not a 1 ski quiver.
So glad to see these reviewed! I thought the downsides were all valid and worth mentioning. I found that even on Midwest hardpack, the Mirus Cor actually carved great. I didn't find them to be twitchy at all as far as turn initiation, but these skis don't go fast. They almost don't let you get going that fast to begin with if you're carving edge-to-edge as fast as they'll let you, but I could see straightlining up to speed and then tipping these up on edge could be unpredictable, if not downright scary. Now, I think if you find yourself skiing with people who stick to blues and even greens, these will make those runs fun again. They are so snappy edge-to-edge on really flat slopes.

Hi Elliott 😊 Thanks for the review!! The “Mirus Cor” sure had a sharper turn… even more than the Renoun 88. I believe Julien Reginer would be happy with your review, where he might disagree with you is your expectations of the ski going off the piste. Reginer is very clear that a) it’s a piste ski and b) when the piste gets chopped up the “Mirus Cor” will handle the ice and bumps with ease. Don’t misunderstand, I think your review is fair… skiessentials even said the ski had a speed limit! Reginer says it’s a great early season ski… a type of ski to build up your form for the season. Your score 8.3 was affected by the price… the skis are made in Slovenia… the Euro is stronger than the Dollar hence the almost $1,000 price tag. The ski is unique and you did a great job communicating that. I would like to see more footage… I really liked what I saw on video. Good job Elliott 😊⛷
Really interesting : was thinking, maybe the intention is to have a ski with a shorter effective edge and tight turn radius, so you have the quick turns and big shovels to do presses and tricks off of. It’s also built lighter to reduce the swing weight? With the flip side that it’s not designed for railing high speed GS style turns.
The fan tail is funky though, wonder how itd feel riding switch in that
@@lauhanwai… I do not ski switch so I cannot speak to that. This ski is wonderful, it made me feel like I was turning better than ever. You would be surprised how fast you accelerate with the “Mirus Cor”… the shovel does chatter a bit but I never felt unsafe.

Found these really fun on iced out moguls and areas where you may not want to charge directly down the fall line but instead want to whip a million turns and get a lot of air while doing so. Not a one ski quiver but super fun. Think your review did it justice

Well… I was hoping this was going to be the ultimate groomer / crud cutter / side hit super star, that’s also a snappy carver and is solid in the trees. I guess we’ll see what next revision brings. Fantastic video!!!

I own a bunch of skis and these are by far the most fun. They are super dynamic and go from carve to slarve with ease. I'm a large dude and they provide enough stability up to 40mph or so. I think most of the issues he was having in the review were due to the fact that he had too small of a size as he notes. I have never over-powered my 184's.
If you love response and precision, want a ski to make groomers fun and even handle moguls and decent amounts of powder combined with freestyle performance (jumps, spins, switch) these are for you!
These skis are not steam rollers. They don't like the rough, icy ruts. And the top clear film does like to peal a bit at the tips.
I disagree with those that say they can't make a one ski quiver because they are so different. The Mirus Cor's are actually exceptionally versatile! An advanced skier will get the most out of them but intermediates would probably learn quickly on them too.
I purchased mine for only $550 during the summer and mounted them 2cm back from recommended because I came from a directional background. I think this improves the carving performance as well but if I did it again I'd go 1cm back from recommended because I've developed a spinning habit with these!

Sounds like you would prefer the Justis as more directional ski that is equal parts crud cutter, carver and off-piste/tree ski for a good skier. I almost bought a pair but I couldn't justify the extra $350 over the Rustler 9's I bought.
Hope you get to review more Black Crows. The Atris is hugely popular in Whistler as a one ski quiver or between storms ski - I personally love the shape and simple construction - unlike other BC skis their no funny tips, cutouts, no wrap around egde etc.

I'm sure you'll still end up spending the money on something else, haha, but if this ski isn't the right fit then definitely worth trying other skis, or at least making sure you try before you buy.

I've been thinking of getting these as a fun option on days without new snow or skiing with my son.The type of ski made to ski the slow line fast and hit some fun side hits.
I basically daily this in Colorado. It isn’t a powered ski or a hard crust ski otherwise it does everything else great I think. Super fun in bumps, front side groomers with side hits, energetic and poppy. Only time I don’t have fun with them is hard crust then I grab the Kastle Mx

Hey, whats your thoughts if only skiing in north east like VT/NY/PA? Is this too wide as being 1 and only goto pair?
One thing to add: if you are headed to iced up groomers, don't expect edge hold whatsoever. Let's say I was not impressed on an icy demo day, and was more than happy to be back on my Enforcer 88s.
FYI to any telemark skier: check on the bc site about which of their skis are okay for Tele. They are notorious for binding rip out for being weight weenies.
These skis do allow Tele (because of the titanal layer), but many of their famous lightweight backcountry skis do not
What do you think about these for tele? I have them in an alpine setup, but do you think they might have a little too much bite (thinking about trying to release them and switch my lead leg)
@@owentaylor2747 never tried them personally, but usually these big powerful hard charging skis are a bit hard to muscle around in adverse conditions with tele. I'm personally not a good enough tele skier to know how well these would be over some Voile ski, especially for the price. Imo for back country it's probably better to save money on the skis and the get pin bindings (Meidjo is good). Look at telemark down or free heel life to see the sort of skis they list to get ideas of what works
If you're just starting Tele, getting the Maverick 88 ti that this channel raves about is likely the best option, just to learn the turn on groomers with a great ski. It's getting easier to pick them up on sale because everyone goes for the bents
A couple seasons back black-crows site had disclaimers on some models ‘ not for telemark’. Haven’t checked lately. I’ve read free-heel forum statements of Mirus Cor being greatest, favorite ever for tele.
Regarding non metal top plate, I’ve been on Noctas 9 seasons. 120 + days. Several seasons my one & only daily. Bindings never pulled out. However, mounted by pro shop.
Hey Elliott! Out of curiosity, you mention that you would size up with these skis. In some of your other reviews you mentioned you like sitting around 178-182 if I remember correctly. What about these skis specifically would make you lean towards sizing up? Also how tall are you?
6'1" just that with the agressive radius and tip and tail splay that's why I would consider sizing up just a touch.
This ski is also in my quiver and your review is spot on. Would love to see your opinion of the Stockli WRT Pro which is a phenominal carving ski and my favorite by far living here on the East Coast.
Will try, Stockli is one of the harder brands to test.
This thing is a weapon in only one situation (perfect grooming on moderately pitched terrain). Probably the best performer of the "non-demanding" skis in that situation. Don't really want this thing in any other circumstance

Great review, Thanks! -- I think it would help if you state clearly at the beginning of each review, what the ski maker claims the intended use for the ski is... For example, say, "BC says the ski is designed/made for FREESTYLE and CARVING." And then kinda dive into how it performs in these categories. I think it would just draw a clearer picture, have more value to the listener.
If we are not familiar with a ski model, and not sure what its key purpose is, then talking about some of the abilities and weaknesses feels a bit out of context. Anyway, just a thought. Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it. But still... Thanks again!

Great review though. Kind of makes me want to hold off on getting a pair. If the tails wash out when charging and carving hard I don’t think they’re really for me. Still want to demo them though.

I would suggest that you try the Nordica Unleashed 98. I know you were unimpressed with the Enforcer 100. But the Unleashed has a different profile and shape. They have a longer effective edge than the Enforcer even though the Unleashed is a twin tip. The Unleashed 98 really carves well. I would like to know your thoughts about the ski. Hopefully you can get a cheap demo or contact Nordica and have them send you a pair. I think the lighter weight due to only one sheet of what they call "terrain specific titanal" makes a huge difference along with the minimal tail and tip rocker. I know this comment is not relevant to this video, but I thought you were more likely to see it here.
Its a park ski that carves really well. I personally would get one if I had the money hahahaha.

I do make a lot of comments on your reviews that probably come across negative. Sorry if so, but if you review a ski, don't you feel a responsibility to be on the right size/setup for your size and skill? If you are on 177cm ski that has a lot of rocker (can you explain what double rocker is? that's a new one on me?) I would expect it to ski terrible as you are too tall and too heavy for it. You do say you should be on the 18X.. size, Kudo's. How much of your negatives would go away if on the proper length? I can't tell you that, but I hope you take that into account. I have skied many skis that are too short for me and I basically just say "its not enough ski for me". I could describe all the issues, but unless I ski a longer length its hard to know the truth about the skis performance when sized/setup properly. I mentioned I skied the Liberty Origin in 177, 182, and 187 cm lengths. The 177 was just a horrible ski for me, loved the 187. My friends wife is on the 177 and once I adjusted the bindings back from recommended mount, she loved the ski and she described skiing it like I do for my 187 cm. Just an example and food for thought.

@@RicketySkiReviews This is not a ski intended to reach the skis limits at any point. It's stated goal is to be a soft turny groomer play ski. Not for racing, GS turns or trees or steeps.
So, you took a ski out of it's intended piste area and bad mouthed it.
Now, I hate this ski and what it represents, but it is exactly what it purports to be and not one iota more.
I definitely didn't badmouth it, I'm just making people aware of the skis limits, which it has, all skis have drawbacks, that doesn't make them bad skis, in order to be the most responsive short radius turns sacrifices are made in other areas. Also I gave it an 8.3 /10 lol@@johnklaus9111

Two cents to add for the review - turn initiation on the mirus can be accomplished with simply rolling your ankles in a centered stance, and not needing one to pressure their shovels in an aggressive/forward posture. You definitely have it right that one needs to accept that the ski has a speed limit.
However, along those lines, because the ski has so much playfulness and lateral motion, an expert skier can lay down some serious carves even at slower speeds. This makes it a great ski to bring to the hill if you're expecting to ski with others who might be less of a hard charger than you, but you still want to get your work out without leaving them behind!
