It's really about the concept of "if nothing matters in life is life worth living or not?" Joy (Jobu Tupaki) had her mind break so she was everywhere feeling everything at once and believed nothing matters because she was focused on all the pain and disappointment in life. Because of that she decided she wanted to die. Part of her didn't want to die though so she sought out her mother and wanted her to experience the same thing and see if her mother (Evelyn) could find a reason to keep on living. Evelyn, after experiencing the same thing, also didn't see a reason to keep on living which is why she started ruining her life in all the universes until she started to see things through her husband's (Waymond's) eyes and realized that Waymond purposely chose to not see the pain and disappointment in life but the joy and happiness and Evelyn realized if nothing mattered, then why not just concentrate on the good parts of life? Joy didn't want to accept it because she believed any happiness would only be short lived, but at the very end extended her hand out from the bagel as a sign she was willing to try, so Evelyn pulled her back out and they all decided to try living life where they concentrated on the good side instead of being lost in the dark side of life.
