I do too. Less than that, for me anyway, seems to make tougher biscuits that don't rise as high. Maybe difference in flours, thickness of cream, air humidity, but for me, equal parts is perfect, like this great recipe.

Over the years I have tried several different biscuit recipes; some were kind of good, others not so much. Saw this video and decided I had nothing to lose by trying it. FINALLY!! Found one that works! They rose up so pretty, didn't fall apart, and tasted great!!! I didn't have self-rising flour, so I had to make my own, but that's okay! For every 1 cup of flour add 1 1/2 tsps Baking Powder and 1/4 tsp salt. So for this recipe it would be 2 cups flour, 3 tsps (1 Tbl) baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt. I whisked it all together, then put it back through the sifter to make sure it was well mixed. Thank you Leslie for posting this!!!

I was so skeptical of these biscuits except for Leslie, so I tried them tonight for supper. I also used her Salmon Patty recipe. Oh my goodness! First, these biscuits are simply amazing!!!! I made eight biscuits and they were gone in a flash. Even though the dough felt heavier than what I’m used to, they rose up fluffy with a good crust on top. Oh my word, why make anything else. Two ingredients, y’all! Who knew?!! Next, the salmon patties were the best that I’ve ever made; the absolute BEST!!! Served with sliced peaches from the can, that was dinner. I’ll be making this again and again. Thank you, Leslie!!!! 😊😊😊😊😋😋😋😋

Hi Leslie, love the biscuits, (or scones as we call them here). If you roll out the dough into a rough square or rectangle like you did, then use a knife and cut them into squares, the job's done, you don't have to gather up the leftover dough from cutting the rounds and rework it to use the dough up. You'll have square biscuits, but no extra work, and they'll taste just the same, cheers from Australia.

These look great! Just in case anyone is watching who is vegan I also know of a clever hack for making 2 ingredient scones (what we call biscuits in Australia).
It is just 2 cups of SR flour and 1 - 1/2 cups of lemonade, this gives them the rise from the carbonated bubbly water and a little sweetness too. Start with one cup of lemonade and check the texture of the dough, if it needs more liquid just add a little more lemonade. Works great, you should try it! :)

iCuL8r I lived on a working ranch for a year back in the 80’s and the owner used to make these for everybody there. We use Bisquick mix, but pretty much any similar baking mix would work. Just dont overknead it. For a little extra flavor I like to fold in a couple Tbsps dried Parmesian cheese! Either in the biscuits or roll the biscuits in it before baking them!

You can add just a bit more liquid to the mix and cook the spooned dropped bread right in a greased skillet. Just slow cook on medium heat and flip when you see the color you want. A little butter in the bottom of the skillet really brings the flavor out.

Okay, I just made these but cut the recipe in half. I cut the biscuits with a two inch cutter. Cooked them 10 minutes at 450. Probably could have went nine minutes. THEN..... I had some thick cut bacon and I cut each slice into 4 pieces. These were a delicious after school snack. We are the entire dozen with real butter, left over Cracker Barrell jelly and back. Oh my goodness! Thank you for the recipe.

I do love me a good biscuit! I grew up on the South and I have a separate folder in my bookmarks just for Biscuits. Thanks for sharing this. I've never heard of Formula L and I'm gonna' have to check it out. But how simple is this recipe-- just the 2 ingredients. Do you have a favorite self-rising flour? (I can hear my husband now saying--"Why change a good thing, now that you've finally found a recipe that we love???? ";) ) He's patiently endured a lot of biscuit experiments. I grew up in the Deep South and biscuits are their own food group, in my opinion!
This is the first of your videos that I've seen and I loved hearing your family come through there and your husband cracks me up--it reminds me of my hubby! We are a farm family as well (mostly crops, but we do have a batch of chickens for eggs and for my husband's entertainment).
