I do too. Less than that, for me anyway, seems to make tougher biscuits that don't rise as high. Maybe difference in flours, thickness of cream, air humidity, but for me, equal parts is perfect, like this great recipe.
Over the years I have tried several different biscuit recipes; some were kind of good, others not so much. Saw this video and decided I had nothing to lose by trying it. FINALLY!! Found one that works! They rose up so pretty, didn't fall apart, and tasted great!!! I didn't have self-rising flour, so I had to make my own, but that's okay! For every 1 cup of flour add 1 1/2 tsps Baking Powder and 1/4 tsp salt. So for this recipe it would be 2 cups flour, 3 tsps (1 Tbl) baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt. I whisked it all together, then put it back through the sifter to make sure it was well mixed. Thank you Leslie for posting this!!!

I made a batch, froze them, and baked them 2 days later just to see if they would taste the same and they did. Never using another recipe again. Thank you!

I thought I knew how to make biscuits.... Tried these today & learned a new, better way. I have NEVER had a biscuit so light & fluffy. Good thing I made only 1/2 recipe. Wonderful! Thanks.
Hi Leslie, love the biscuits, (or scones as we call them here). If you roll out the dough into a rough square or rectangle like you did, then use a knife and cut them into squares, the job's done, you don't have to gather up the leftover dough from cutting the rounds and rework it to use the dough up. You'll have square biscuits, but no extra work, and they'll taste just the same, cheers from Australia.

These look great! Just in case anyone is watching who is vegan I also know of a clever hack for making 2 ingredient scones (what we call biscuits in Australia). It is just 2 cups of SR flour and 1 - 1/2 cups of lemonade, this gives them the rise from the carbonated bubbly water and a little sweetness too. Start with one cup of lemonade and check the texture of the dough, if it needs more liquid just add a little more lemonade. Works great, you should try it! :)
iCuL8r I lived on a working ranch for a year back in the 80’s and the owner used to make these for everybody there. We use Bisquick mix, but pretty much any similar baking mix would work. Just dont overknead it. For a little extra flavor I like to fold in a couple Tbsps dried Parmesian cheese! Either in the biscuits or roll the biscuits in it before baking them!
I tried them and same here. I am 75, was a professional cook, and originally from Georgia. As I age I try things that are easier. Not only are they simpler to make but as good as any I ever had and better than most!
You can add just a bit more liquid to the mix and cook the spooned dropped bread right in a greased skillet. Just slow cook on medium heat and flip when you see the color you want. A little butter in the bottom of the skillet really brings the flavor out.
I just made these, also added a pinch of salt and I must have said WOW 20 times now. Even if I did have everything on hand for traditional biscuits, I would absolutely do this instead! Thank you ❤ I enjoyed one with apple butter and one with peanut butter hot and melted 😊
Now after you form the biscuit get your waffle iron out and make biscuit waffles you'll never want to make waffles ever again with liquid batter absolutely fantastic, I learned it from Trisha Yearwood..!!!🥳💥🥳 And y'all are so stinkin cute🥰
Amazing. I love few ingredient recipes, especially now. I am curious if you know if I can get the same results with the self rising flour and buttermilk?
Okay, I just made these but cut the recipe in half. I cut the biscuits with a two inch cutter. Cooked them 10 minutes at 450. Probably could have went nine minutes. THEN..... I had some thick cut bacon and I cut each slice into 4 pieces. These were a delicious after school snack. We are the entire dozen with real butter, left over Cracker Barrell jelly and back. Oh my goodness! Thank you for the recipe.
I like how your family just randomly joined! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 THAT my dear is apart of your personality! I also like hope he turned the bacon over while you were making biscuits💗

I just found this recipe two days ago on Grandma Karma's channel and I made them. I was so surprised at how good they were. I have always used formula L also and it has got to be so hard to find anymore I just quit making them. This will be my go to recipe from now on. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed day.
First time that I have been able to make a biscuit that rose and was seriously good.. my new recipe. Thank you granny for sharing this.. May our Lord JESUS CHRIST bless you and yours.
Yes same recipe we use in Australia but we call them scones.. we even add sultanas and a little sugar....yum... when their plain we add jam or jelly as you call it... then some whipped cream on top😍 delicious
I did not know Formula L was a thing! I'm in Ohio, so I don't know if region plays a role in that. I used to bake and cook a lot when our kids were young. They're grown now! :( So I have to keep meals interesting for me and my husband. These biscuits sound like a great addition to some sausage gravy!
I love your videos.Ive gotten very ill the past few years. And I'm not the enthusiastic chef I once was.Because cooking got to be even difficult for me to do.But these videos are fun and easy. And get me in the mood to cook again. So thank you!😉
I love 7 up biscuits made with Bisquick mix, they are so delicious, light & airy. I always wanted to learn how to make Popeye's biscuits. Supposedly they are made from cake flour. Enjoyed your video 😉
I do love me a good biscuit! I grew up on the South and I have a separate folder in my bookmarks just for Biscuits. Thanks for sharing this. I've never heard of Formula L and I'm gonna' have to check it out. But how simple is this recipe-- just the 2 ingredients. Do you have a favorite self-rising flour? (I can hear my husband now saying--"Why change a good thing, now that you've finally found a recipe that we love???? ";) ) He's patiently endured a lot of biscuit experiments. I grew up in the Deep South and biscuits are their own food group, in my opinion! This is the first of your videos that I've seen and I loved hearing your family come through there and your husband cracks me up--it reminds me of my hubby! We are a farm family as well (mostly crops, but we do have a batch of chickens for eggs and for my husband's entertainment).
Just found your channel through a friend in Brazil...So happy to have found it..I have subscribed and will be trying more of your recipes..Thank you from Bonnie Scotland...

I tried them and same here. I am 75, was a professional cook, and originally from Georgia. As I age I try things that are easier. Not only are they simpler to make but as good as any I ever had and better than most!
@@tonibauer2405 I'm still wishing I knew about this sooner, but I have to remind myself better now than never. 😄
You can add just a bit more liquid to the mix and cook the spooned dropped bread right in a greased skillet. Just slow cook on medium heat and flip when you see the color you want. A little butter in the bottom of the skillet really brings the flavor out.
vaylon1701 make this and we call it hoe cake to eat with beans when there’s no corn meal for corn bread

I just made these, also added a pinch of salt and I must have said WOW 20 times now. Even if I did have everything on hand for traditional biscuits, I would absolutely do this instead! Thank you ❤ I enjoyed one with apple butter and one with peanut butter hot and melted 😊
Great job! They are delicious, be sure to share the video!
Now after you form the biscuit get your waffle iron out and make biscuit waffles you'll never want to make waffles ever again with liquid batter absolutely fantastic, I learned it from Trisha Yearwood..!!!🥳💥🥳
And y'all are so stinkin cute🥰
I agree about the salt. It makes biscuits taste so much better. 😊
Amazing. I love few ingredient recipes, especially now. I am curious if you know if I can get the same results with the self rising flour and buttermilk?
The biscuits will come out fluffier than these
Okay, I just made these but cut the recipe in half.
I loved the recipe but I adored your favourite bowl. It's nice to see someone who has a great heart.
Love your recipe, but especially your mixing "pan". It's what I grew up with as a washpan.
I just mention to my son---look than is the same kind of pan my grandmother mixed everything in. (I am from southern part of Missouri)
Phyllis Brown my mom has this pan and a bigger one, she made all her yeast doughs in them. My sister asked her for them and she’s got them now! 💕great memories!
Yeah I also love that enamelware pan! Sweet memories!
I have one of these for my baking. In Scotland.
Phyllis, I had this same thing for a WASHPAN, too. A lot of people won’t even know what we are talking about...
Beautiful biscuits!! They rose really well too.😊
Thank you and I love them.
Thank you for sharing this. They look so good. I'm going to the store and come back to make these biscuits.
I just found this recipe two days ago on Grandma Karma's channel and I made them. I was so surprised at how good they were. I have always used formula L also and it has got to be so hard to find anymore I just quit making them. This will be my go to recipe from now on. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed day.
Margaret Bedwell I just found granny karma’s channel and watched her biscuit recipe. I saw this and wanted to see this version.
First time that I have been able to make a biscuit that rose and was seriously good.. my new recipe. Thank you granny for sharing this.. May our Lord JESUS CHRIST bless you and yours.
Try using fat-free Greek Yogurt mixed with an equal volume of self-rising flour. Works very well, especially for pizza or calzone crust.
I have to try that!
Great tip
Could you use full fat yogurt?
@@Mimishummingbird
Sure. It would taste alot better and still way beat using cream. Cheaper by far too
Your wonderful thanks for making them I am in 🇦🇺 so never cooked will be making some 🤗❤️
"If you need a biscuit..." Yes, girl! I always need a biscuit!! My Nana used to make them this way

Ma'am, These are my favorite biscuits. I love'em with the heavy cream and Southern Biscuit Flour. The are the absolute best ever. So easy.
Thank you
I did not know Formula L was a thing! I'm in Ohio, so I don't know if region plays a role in that. I used to bake and cook a lot when our kids were young. They're grown now! :( So I have to keep meals interesting for me and my husband. These biscuits sound like a great addition to some sausage gravy!
I love biscuits put never had luck from scratch making them ❣️👍
loved the sound of bacon frying in the background
I love me some bacon
@@TheFarmingPastorsWife

My husband's best birthday card to me: On a scale from 1 - 10, You are Bacon!
I used to make 7-up biscuits until I learned about the heavy whipping cream. Both are good
My Mom made 7up biscuits.
@@elizabethcope1502 they are delicious !
@@pamelamaggard9453 they are delicious !
I like those also but I tried ginger ale
Works fine also.
I made these 4 times and my family and friends love them. So moist, fluffy and easy to make in mins
That's awesome to hear
Very good recipe. Thank you very much❤
Just found your channel through a friend in Brazil...So happy to have found it..I have subscribed and will be trying more of your recipes..Thank you from Bonnie Scotland...
The biscuits look so delicious!!!
