Method 1 - 1:00 - Maximus multi-band compression Method 2 - 4:45 - Manually remove the frequency using the Edison plugin Method 3 - 7:45 - Set up a dynamic EQ to listen for the harsh, sibilant sounds and reduce them.
why does this 3:01 actually help me understand compression alot better? now i know when & where to use it, other than de-essing. your tutorials are the best there out there.
You are helping a lot of people, not only for the producers but also save the ears of our listeners. Thank you a lot for your amazing high-quality tutorials!
There's not one video of yours where I don't learn something super userful. Therefore, I'm gonna just binge watch your whole channel XD Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for such genuine efforts! I've been following the channel from the days when you used to upload videos on how you made your cover songs. You have come a long way and you deserve it! ❤❤❤
You are the GOAT chief! I have never seen somebody so thorough and understanding. Especially with Edison. I have used Fl Studios since the 7th edition, but I never paid attention to how powerful it can be. Thank you!
Man you are the absolute best when it comes to music production. I really don't believe it's possible for you to make a video that isn't useful or relevant. Keep up the good work Mike!
Really gave me so much information that I was missing. Earlier I used to just put a deesser plugin and adjust the threshold. Never really changed the actual target frequency for deessing and it used to clean some esses but not all problem frequencies in that area so as a result I tend to do a lot of deessing.
I always seem to land on your channel when I run into issues or just want to learn more about a topic. You are so clearly knowledgeable about production, and your calm, gentle approach to teaching is incredibly refreshing. Thank you so much for all of your videos! You provide a much needed service to all of us who can’t pay for courses. Truly, THANK YOU! Definitely going to sub right now.
Whenever it comes to synthesizing sounds on this channel it can get pretty basic. But oh my, the fl studio integration of mixing and mastering advice of this channel are just the best in my opinion. So yeah much appreciate the advice.
Thanks! I know the sound design series is very beginner focussed right now, my apologies that I can't tailor it to everyone just yet but thanks for sticking with the community :)
the third method is by far the simplest and to me the best method. i havw watched quite a few of your videos and have found them excellent and highly reccomend them. thanks for taking the time out to share
Nova method worked for me...Ive been through handfuls of de essing vids...first one that ACTUALLY taught me the right way to do it before I was basically cutting out all high end
Instead of having to drag and drop the edited vocals every time, you can just right click on the last button, it replaces the vocal in the channel and in the playlist. You can drag and drop if you want it as a separate entry.
Thank you for these videos man🙏 it’s so hard being independent and doing literally everything on my own but it’ll be that much more worth it once I achieve my dreams! Huge thanks from Seattle!!
Hey Michael, thanks for the Maximus explanation! Works like a charm and you really got me smiling about how incredibly quick and easy this can be explained. Been watching your videos for a while now, you've helped me a lot - so just thanks and keep up the good work, man! :)
thank you so much for this tutorial subscribed !!! this has really allowed me to produce a higher quality of music, all thanks to you and your videos, underrated channel
hello my friend, you had a type that was repulsive to me at first, but now when I think about it, you are a great instructor, thank you for all this content and I wish you success Greetings from Turkiye
Thank you so much for doing such wonderful tutorials. U have really helped a lot of us on our journey in music production. U hv in recent times become my go to teacher in my misunderstood concepts about music production. Pls next time when doing this kind of videos, try & give us the results of everything at the end so we could see in real life application, which method we prefer & please try to cover more concepts, like maybe tutorials on various plugins like the Ozone 9 modules. I know it’s so much to ask but some of us like me depend on you so much for like 85% of our problems. Thank you so much Michael. We love you❤️😘
Thanks a lot from Papua New Guinea...So far I've learnt a lot from you even am using the oldest specs of DAW FL studio 9...Thanks a lot...Looking great and still the best ever!!*****!!
Wow! I appreciate the hell out of how precise with the info put into your videos, makes everything much more tangible and easy to understand. Thank you
I have been watching a ton of videos on de-essing but u just mad it ridiculously simple. This is the holy grail of de-essing. #Danzryte passed through 🔥🔥🔥
From your oldest fan: you're always awesome, thank you. Even if you didn't let me win monitors, I really benefit from your advice. I'm a STUDIO ONER yet still get relevant and useful help from you.
That's great to hear Brian, most audio principles are universal and cross saw thankfully! Studio One is an amazing software, I'm very impressed by it :)
THX! I had an issue, that an s was followed by an r and on the edge of the two letters there was crash at the high frequencies but a few hundred frequencies lower so my tdr nova 'deesser' couldn't cut it out, but with this method i could detect the issue and smooth it out.
HEY MAN JUST DROPPING IN TO SAY THANK YOU!!!!! I KNOW WHAT I WANT AND WHAT IM HEARING. I JUST DIDNT KNOW HOW TO MAKE THIS FL 20 DO WHAT I WANTED. I GOT BY OK BUT WITH YOUR VIDEOS IVE BEEN EXPANDING MY SKILLS MAJOR! IM REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH THE PROGRAM NOW AS WELL AS THE PLUG INS. GOT A LONG WAY TO GO STILL BUT I IMAGINE WITH YOUR FUTURE AND PAST VIDEOS I WILL GET TO WHERE !!! THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
A big thumbs up to this video, I am certainly grateful for this because I have a project coming up. But I have to say man, I don’t necessarily agree on the last method. Yes, it gets rid of the ‘s sound’ but I couldn’t help but notice that it also cut off peak sounds that weren’t necessarily ‘s sounds’ for example the word “along” at 9:30 - 9:35 was cut as the software noticed that it was a peaking sound. Maybe that’s just my lack of experience/knowledge of the software, but it was certainly an eye catcher for me. Loved the video nonetheless!
hey man, I like how you teach, you do it in such a professional way, that you understand that you don't need the best tools in the world to achieve the professional results we all seek, thank you for taking your valuable time to share your great and extensive knowledge with others, you are admirable, thank you.
I have been waiting for this tutorial for so long... I even texted you on Instagram asking you to make video on de-essing but you didn't see my message 😔😔 but finally you did it 😁😁.. thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
Sorry for missing your message, If you have other suggestions you could join my discord and I'll be more likely to see it! I posted an invite in the description of my last video :)
Hey Michael, thank you so much for your discord server. i had a big problem with my new pc, fl studio and kontakt, i asked in your discord chat for help, and somebody really could help me fixing the exact issue. GREAT, my day is saved, thank you ♥
That's so amazing to hear. This is exactly what I love about the community here, people are happy to help each other out especially when I can't get around to everyone!
Thanks a lot !! I love watching your lessons so I can learn and use what is already in the fl studio instead of using money to buy plugins 😂😂 I'm gonna use this technique it's free and easy
Woww 😍 these techniques are really helpful.... I always do de-essing with pro ds... I've never even thought that it could be done with maximus and edison. Thanks to you Micheal ❤️
I do like using a 3rd party de easer just for convenience and so I can use it in any DAW, but the stock stuff really does give me the same results if I'm being honest :)
BRO u dont have a instagram r somthing, i really like what u doing, u are one of the people on here i turn to alot and i just started using fl. i am not a producer but i write and record my own music lol well at least the vocals and the sound i hear coming from your speakers are marvolus. i more concentrate on how to ge a good ruff vocal mix to send to my peoples for the mix and master but i like to do a preety good job of that so they would already c where i was going and what i was thinking. keep it up bro u doing us a service

Dude inspired by you 😀😎😎
Though as tedious as Edison, you can also use the Advanced Editing mode in Newtone to lower the individual esses
I'm The Guy who needed Vocals....The Tutorial Helped me..
Have you got any advice about how much exactly to select and where to dip the line? My S sounds turn into lisps instead of softening the sound.
He’s literally my sensai with this ..he has me doing de-essing karate chops, compression lifts, dynamic wheel kicks, thank you grand master 🙏🏾
You're so generous for doing this for free
he earns money for it so it's not a problem
