Can I be genuinely honest with you Wez? I've had a Series X for the past year and a half now, and sometimes I ask myself 'How have we got to the point where games in this generation SUCK in comparison to those before?' I owned both a PS3 and a 360, and the satisfaction I got from playing games on both consoles was beyond comprehension. Whereas I look at the Store on XL Live today and I see titles and titles of the same drab and dreary game that do not interest me. It's like Netflix sometimes for me; I spend more time searching than buying and playing something. For me, the days of both the PS3 and 360 were amongst the best, because today, gaming has lost its identity, its purpose and its meaning in life. It's pleasing to see you yourself just love those nostalgia trips a ton.
I cant relate in the slightest, I have an xbox series x and I play it on a 4k monitor and im blown away every time about how amazing the graphics are, the sharpness, the richness of colour, the detail, I'd never buy a ps3 in modern times, never ever, I love the xbox series x, I do however find it interesting seeing people who wanna play much older games like ps3 games tho, which is why looking at this video
PS3 is such an underrated system. The games still look great for the most part. LA Noire is definitely worth a playthrough. You basically go to crime scenes, look for clues and interogate people until each job is done working your way up the Police Force ladder. There are also lots of open world street crimes to solve.
Resistance: Fall of Man multiplayer was my first online addiction. Playing sniper one hit kill on the cathedral level, going on the air lift onto the roof and sniping someone doing the same thing on the opposite side... it was so much fun and I've not found anything quite like it since. I hope you got to experience it at the time even if you didnt complete the story as the servers are now shut.
It seems im not the only who decided to go on a ps3 hunt this year. Looks like this year will be the year that every hardcore collector is going to buy evrything. Which means my window is a lot shorter. I have to try to get as much as i can.
Didn't we finish the third Call of Juarez? It's the one set in the present day. Mexican Drug cartels etc. But you must get Stranglehold and Chronicles of Riddick as well, those are great! There was going to be an LA Noire 2, but there was loads of leaks about how much of a bully the head of the company was and how toxic the developer was in general, so Rockstar pulled all the funding, same guy also was the head of The Getaway.

I've actually started accruing a PS3 collection of my own, while most of the games are digital (games like quantum conundrum, costume quest, the orignal bioshock, borderlands 1, etc) I actually have 2 physical games, namely Gran Turismo 5 and Midnight Club LA, primarily because I'm in a racing game mood as of late.
Dont believe the hate about Silent Hill Homecoming, it has its issues but its a worthy entry in the Silent Hill series. It's not like the combat was ever the focus in the Japanese developed games anyway. It's just more Americanized Also: speaking of Larry Bundy, you are releasing more vids than him lately, you should probably reach out and see if the bloke is okay. I am not British, but bloke seemed like a relative term to use Also, also, the first Resistance game is my first experience with the PS3 and I still have fond memories of me playing it while a blizzard fell outside and I kept putting off helping my parents shovel the snow. If you enjoy LA Noire on PS3 it might also be worth purchasing the remastered version on the PS4 as well. It has all the DLC on the disc and a bonus VR option (7 VR case files).
Some real bargains there. With PS3 being multi-region you can buy all kinds of US and Japanese games that either never came out over here, or are much cheaper (though not as cheap as the tip top bargains you found). I recently bought The Last Guy, Jurassic The Hunted, Afrika, Tokyo Jungle, Man vs Wild, Motorstorm Complete, Attack on Titan and Rain). Happy hunting!
Dusted off my PS3 after 2 years and this is the kinda content i need to satiate my own mini obsession. I really would recommend playing all the Resistances, they all feel different enough. I put custom firmware on my PS3 for best of both worlds i can still collect and play physical games that are peanuts but then "source" the more expensive games that take my fancy
Get a PS3 hooked up to a small 720p monitor or travel TV to both match the actual output resolution in most games and a small screen to benefit from better pixel density.. it still looks great played like that

Yeah I’ve been collecting for the PS3. I like how games were generally complete, there was more variety, and microtransactions were widespread at the time. And it was nice how DLC were still a compliment to the game, not a requirement, unlike a lot of games today. Collecting for the PS3 has been fun because there’s so many games to try and they’re relatively cheap. There’s still a handful of modern games I still enjoy, such as Spider-Man 1 and 2, Uncharted 4 and Dead by Daylight but the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation is, to me, the last generation I truly enjoyed, the PS4/5 and Xbox One/Series X have games plagued with terrible practices because of greedy companies
LA Noire is an all time favourite, a unique experience. I couldn't get enough of the story, setting, voice acting, comradeship and most of all, the cases. It's just a shame what happened behind the scenes. The Max Payne 3 multiplayer unfortunately shut down sometime in 2021. Excellent game. Besides that I'd recommend Resistance 3. It's not Halo or Gears but it's a solid shooter.
Yes, LA Noire is brilliant, totally unlike any other adventure game. Just a great murder mystery. In future please look out for Killzone 2, it's a stellar FPS and the visuals are still stunning
Jailbreaking it you can play PS2 disc thru multiman/retroarch. Obviously maybe you dont want to if playing online risking a ban. But if you do it's a fat cheaper option. I too buying a lot of PS3 games and actually excited to hit up the backlog. Just played lollipop chainsaw and currently playing rage.
Cheaper than a Sandwhich. Can't complain there. Such a shame that all three of the PS3s I bought over the years all died so I gave up and sold my ps3 games off.
Yup taste change. I picked up some terrible games that were hated upon like BRINK. It was under $3. Why not I'll give it a go. As far as I'm concerned picking up a non sports game for a sports game price is fine. The average cost however are the $10 range which a lot of PS3 bangers are currently selling for on average. Currently library not counting sports games or doubles.... 163 titles. Most I never played so there's now excitement for me to tackle this collection
For me personally the PS3 I have mixed feelings over. It's no PS2, not by a land slide. No Sony Platform has ever topped the success and pure awesomeness that was the PlayStation 2. PS3 like the Xbox 360 also suffered from horrible hardware failures. I had a PS3 fat die on my twice, 2nd time I got it completely refurbished, they even increased the fan speeds to hopefully reduce it's over heating issues. Meanwhile the only game I really ended up loving to death, ie would never part of said game was Valkyria Chronicles. Everything else was a been there done that kind of game experience. Basically a dime a dozen style game that wasn't that unique. Even Uncharted just felt like a modern Tomb Raider game with cover mechanics... god I hate cover mechanics. I honestly see that generation as the beginning of the end for video game consoles, as it started the 'clone' wars you can say of video gaming on consoles. Every game became multiplatform almost, every game controlled and played nearly identical to each other so no games had any real learning curves. And man was it starting to get hard to tell the difference between shooter franchises as well that generation, everything became Modern Shooters, EVERYTHING. Residence the Fall of Man was interesting personally. Killzone Franchise was okay. I mean I would praise Rockstar, but this is also the time where Rockstar build a specific formula/structure for it's games to a point that they all played relatively the same. You can argue this formula came about by the end of the PS2 era, but it was very noticeable in their PS3 titles. Similar issue Bethesda has actually. Fallout 3 being Oblivion with Guns, and Skyrim being Fallout 3 with Magic. That being said, despite liking those games usually they were light/day superior playing on PC than PS3, even Rockstar's games. Ironically now though, I think to enjoy GTA IV/V playing the PS3 versions are your best options. As despite the PC versions being pretty darn awesome, over time content was removed, patches were added which kind of burked the PC versions. Because Rockstar couldn't leave stuff a lone. So despite they were so much more awesome to play on PC, as time went on I think the PS3 versions aged better because they didn't get patched/changed by DumbStar over the years.

La noire is a brilliant game went back and platinum it recently. Games like black ops for a pound is hours of fun on the zombies alone. Great video

Quantum of Solace is surprisingly good and the multiplayer was amazing when the servers were up.
Definitely Max Payne 3 is my favorite out of these.

I would start with L.A. Noire, because there really isn't anything quite like that game.
Perhaps you could pick up a Ps2 as your BWC Ps3 died. (assuming you have physical ps2 games sitting around)

Get a ps2 slim I love mine and I love my ps3 slim there way more worth it especially if you install a 1 tb harddrive
