I think the movie needed more narration for Bella because of how little she really spoke in the book. She was a very introspective person whose perspective we get was almost solely based on her thoughts. Unpopular opinion though!
I was laughing the entire video, and my coworkers asked me what I was listening but I just couldn't say "a 50 min video about twilight"....... So I said nothing
Thank you so much for this video! I was 12 when I read the book and watched the movie, and I'm still shocked at people's reactions to Twilight. Your video is what I've been waiting for all these years and I really appreciate it. Can't wait to see what other content you'll upload in the future.
Thair is nothing wrong with traditional gender roles as long as you know and understand that is not the only kind of relationship and dont judge other kinds of relationships
ur voice is so calming i literally just discovered u hours ago and ive been listening all night to help me sleep but everything u say interests me this is so fun
I loved this video essay. The only thing I wish you'd edited in were the shots you'd talk about; even if you'd just overlayed them over your voice, it would have helped so much. Regardless, love love love your thoughts and opinions!
Bella is why I love and read the whole saga. I like she is timid and awkward and different. I hate that a powerful female character is either an asshole power hungry carrier woman aka "sassy" "girl boss" or a "cool girl" wielding a sword or a gun. Why can't we be average at work and average at relationships with average problems. And yeah I liked book/film two because it's OK to grief the death of a relationship or get depression. You should get help but people shouldn't mock you or downplay your feelings. Your emotions are your own and only you can feel their intensity and other people should help but they should not offer a critique on how you should handle them. My only problem with twilight is the cheap save they gave Bella - a child. She wanted a family and not having a child by choosing Edward would have been a sacrifice, a problem for them to come to deal with, but then bam Edward is special and can reproduce so yeah. Going back on the universe you created, "the chosen one narative" just to give the protagonist a happy ending was a bad armor for me. So I pretend the last book/movie doesn't exist.
I'd assume you've probably already seen it by now but, Decode is on spotify! (at least for me in the UK). It's on both the twilight soundtrack album and also on paramore's brand new eyes album. There's also a single version with the original and acoustic versions. Also thank you for describing all the reasons why I ended up really liking twilight and still do like it, I sometimes feel 'silly' that I still like it after all these years (moreso the first movie than the franchise as a whole) and it can feel hard explaining why I do, but honestly this video just hit every nail on the head. I'm so glad that yt decided to recommend your videos to me, I'm definitely sticking around for more great videos!
First things first: love the video. So then my view (but only talking about the 1st movie, the other ones are trash in my opinion). I really have a love-hate-relationship with twighlight. I also love watching it for some reasons, many like yours, but it flaws really bother me (script,etc.). But what I really want to say is, that especially when I was around 15 or so, Bella was the character I could relate to the most, compared to any other coming-of-age-story. Because she represented a character or personality that wasn‘t represented in books or movies, what i think is weird, because her character - at least to me - seemed like a more common on in real life. Like i said, I felt that she somehow represented me and other girls that i knew that age, the best way. Especially with the „weirdness“ and so on, and i also think that Kristen really brought something very interesting to Bella’ performance hat , for me, made her even better then in the books. How she portrayed Bella‘s shyness had something really honest and like I said made my finally feel represented in movies.
I had to like this video and subscribe just for the and that's coming from a bottom line because it made me spit soda all over the place and simultaneously laughed and choked till I was in tears loved it
Change your brand from gay to college student because you've got some major college student energy bro, anyways, loved your analysis of the lab scene, though this video essay definitely felt drunk af, like you starting wtih narration felt weird, maybe because it is such a small topic lol Also I definitely felt your influences here, the Contrapoints in the way you deliver jokes especially.
I like is video! You made some points I hadn’t thought about and made me laugh. It’s like, let people enjoy things! I know twilight can be problematic, but HAVE I watched and read the movies and books more than once this past year to deal with… well everything? Hell yes!
I always find it so odd when people deem a character 'feminist' or 'not feminist' unless the character is an activist or speaks about feminist topics. A character not being a bigot or being a strong women (in whatever way that's expressed) doesn't make them a feminist representation... the bare minimum is what I'd call that.
Dear, have you read Anne Rice? Please don't waste your time with Twilight. What glitter-encrusted, plasticine rubbish. Edited because I need to emphasize my deep disagreement with you. Please, please read The Vampire Chronicles and get back to us.
When you said you were re-filming the whole thing because your perfectionist ass wouldn’t let you be mediocre… I felt that.
@@shriramraja3868 ughhhhhhhh same.

Omg when you said "I'm not comfortable... with anything", I can relate😂
8:08 “they must have heard my mixtape” made me cackle
I was laughing the entire video, and my coworkers asked me what I was listening but I just couldn't say "a 50 min video about twilight"....... So I said nothing
"I've never given much thought to how I would die." "Can't relate, boo."

A male version of a “pick me” would perhaps be a “pick me(n)”?? 🤷♀️
I LOVE UR VIDEOS !!!!!!
when he said the worst joke ever, I spit my drink out, no no, that was arguably the best, it just came off the tounge
I actually quite like Bella's character. There are some flaws but nothing is perfect.
Yeah ravenclaw!
love this!
YOU'RE SO GODDAMN CUTE!!!!!!!!!
ugh your just so fun

Love your content, even though the spinning fan makes me nauseous. I just listen and try not to look. 🤓

why don't we talk about chamber of secrets
Wait... why do we not talk about the chamber of secrets?
i assume cuz jkr is a transphobe
“...a bunch of white ppl and Chadwick Boseman, RIP...” with your hand and eyes gesturing to heaven. 😄
Romeo and Juliet is a horror story and Twilight glorifies abusive relationships and centers women’s lives around a man and children.
Soundtrack slaps, though. As “we” young people say..
You under estimate how funny you are. I thought your jokes were great.
You're 22? I'm so sorry
That Romeo and Juliet comparison lol. Yikes. That's not a romance.
You're not a woman?! I'd never have guessed! 😹
