The lack of the rotating bezel turned me away from the watch 5 pro. I prefer my watch to look more classy and more of a true "watch" and so far, the galaxy watch 4 classic suits me best. I cannot understand their reasoning behind removing the bezel tbh. It was not a good decision and I believe they are going to bring it back either with a watch 5 classic down the line or with a watch 6? classic.

Same. I wasn't planning on buying the 5 ( I upgrade every two years or so) but even if I wanted to, I would've avoided it just for not having the rotating bezel.
I'm with you, the rotating bezel was the ONE thing which genuinely separated Samsung with everyone else, and I was just crestfallen to see it go. With that said, I have really warmed up to the Watch 5 Pro and find it a nice looking device...and the extra battery life is, well, ABOUT time. Other than that, I simply do not see ANYTHING new that they've done worthy of upgrading for. Same chip, same screen, no improvement in processing or performance. What a disappointment. Plus, I've had nothing but issues with Wear OS since the day I turned on my GW4. No update has helped the stuttering, glitches and just plain lagging that Wear OS has put on the device. People keep saying that more RAM would solve this...but - it DIDN'T. Maybe it needs even more - I dunno. And before you hate on my experience, just check the internet, my experience is far from isolated. This IS a software issue because my TicWatch Pro 3 had virtually ZERO issues that my GW4 had and still has. Without anything new under the hood to solve this, I can't help but believe the 5 pro isn't going to be ANY different.
I kinda feel the same. The slowdowns on GW4 are unbelievable. The most annoying one is when the watch is automatically tracking a walk, media controls are on, due to playing music on the phone and someone calls me. It takes the watch 10 sec before I can answer the call using GW4 gestures.
@@Yielar1 No, it's software related. Literally THOUSANDS of reports claiming the exact same thing, even a few reviews here online have noticed...so unless Samsung's quality control doesn't exist, or there is an ongoing issue with how the software performs on a fairly consistent level is to blame. Mine is not an isolated experience - otherwise I'd simply return it. I took it to the T-Mobile store and they examined it and said nothing that is happening is worthy of returning it but they DID acknowledge it wasn't operating as efficiently as it should.
@@jeffedwards6920 I have so many issues with the watch, I have the heartrate and steps displayed on the home screen and they are never accurate, I'll get a notification saying I walked 6k steps but the home screen says 2300 and then I open the app and the app says 5k steps... same thing with heart rate. The watch is super buggy and yesterday I turned the watch on after it was fully drained and it was extremely laggy and unresponsive, completely unusable id input commands and it takes a minute before doing something... it took 20 minutes for it to fix itself. Super frustrating because I stored my gym barcode on it and couldn't sign into the gym but thankfully the staff knows me and let me in anyway
The bezel is really great on the classic. If you sweat heavily, or go for workouts such as swimming , the bezel works wonders when you cant touch the screen. The sensors for fitness tracking are not a great improvement and definately not worth the upgrade for me. Ill stick to the classic.
I honestly hope they bring back the classic rotating bezel on the next Galaxy Watch lineup. I'm still using the GW1 and still love it. If I need to upgrade then I would prefer to have the rotating bezel with that 590 mAh battery size to make it feel complete.
Lack of rotating bezel is an instant deal breaker for me. I have the galaxy watch that came with preordering s10. I cannot imagine using a galaxy watch without the bezel. It feels .... empty. Like oneplus phone without the slider.
I'm quite on the opposite of you. I hate the rotating bezel especially the original galaxy watch. I can't stand that the numbers on the bezel not matching the arrows on the face. Also I'm always deftly afraid on using the bezel as it light wear out prematurely.
I'll keep my rotating bezel till this thing dies. The battery life is annoying but the number of times touch screens have issues compared to the mechanical bezel.... it's a no brainer. Plus it's much more intuitive. There's a reason your keyboard has a little bump on the F and J keys, something that makes typing much easier and isn't possible on the digital keyboards. It also works better for those that like water based activities. That screen is wet? Watch is useless. Rotating bezel, you can at least still switch between your pages. If Samsung doesn't fix this blunder I'll definitely be looking for a new watch when I wear this one out.
How is swiping left not intuitive. The bezel has no real purpose. Dusts can get in under it and make it slightly harder to rotate. Yes the wet screen doesn't respond very well, but switching pages with the bezel is all you can do anyways. Hopefully, the watch 5 pro doesn't have the unresponsive wet screen issue that the watch 4 classic does. I'm getting mine in a few days. I'll keep you posted.
I just picked up the Galaxy watch 4 classic for a steal of a deal at $179. Loving it so far. Battery can last a day with medium use and the rotating bezel and look and features are stellar.
@@bryanandres495 sup Bryan. Amazon is where I bought it. I believe they are still 179. Look up Galaxy classic 4 refurbished. Even refurbished it came looking brand new.
Just bought one from a friend that upgraded to the 5 pro for 65 dollars, the watch is very niceeee, and coming from a Gear SPORT, this watch is so gorgeous bruh ❤️❤️
I think there other things they could improve, like they could put a better processor and more Ram on the newer model to justify the price tag. they could at least make a 46mm instead of a 45mm.
GET Classic 4. From best buy. I GOT IT FOR $268. It was a return. But Perfect condition. Shop around. Slap a Supcase on and. Your well protected.. for $25
I have the 4 classic, and upgraded to the 5 pro. The 5 Pro is going back. Not having the bezel was really a deal-breaker and I thought I could live without it. Also, when touching the edge of the screen near the 4/5 o'clock positions, it will think that I pressed the center of the screen instead.
Almost bought the Watch 4 but I needed better battery life and when I tried on the classic I actually didn't like the look of the bezel. Ordered the Watch Pro 5 as it finally checks enough boxes for me to get off the fence and buy my first smartwatch.
@@anotidachoto9460 I ordered the Bluetooth version then realized that having LTE may be handy for my lifestyle and ordered the LTE version the next day. Couldn't cancel the Bluetooth version online, for some reason, and I'm now dealing with Samsung trying to return it now that it's delivered. Still waiting for the LTE version to even ship. They sure are taking their time
I never had a smartwatch before since i think everything what u can do on a smartwatch can also do on a smartphone So is it worth it how is your experience?
The battery life on my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is still incredible, even after a year later and after having to send it in a couple times for maintenance. I could take it off it's charger at 5am, spend an entire day at Disneyland, and it will still have a little over 50% battery life by the time I get home. Plus the bezel is just nice to fidget with here and there.
Since the watch 5 Pro released, I've been more inclined of buying the watch 4 classic all for the sake of the physical turning bezels. Although the touch bezels on the 5P is not a bad replacement, I still very much prefer the classic look and feel of the watch 4 classic. I only would purchase the regular watch 5 for its sapphire blue color though.
I just bought a Galaxy watch 4 classic in grey 😍 for this very reason. This rotating bezel is soo satisfactory and classy. Looks and features is on top of everybody's list and this smashes both. Unlike the new model which does good in one and cheapish in the other
I have the galaxy watch 3 with the bezel. I'm looking to upgrade but I'm waiting for the 4 classic to be restocked (hopefully) and not the watch 5 pro, the bezel is the only selling point for me to upgrade at this time.
Not having the rotating bezel was the deal breaker for me. I decided to stick with my 4 classic. I have big fingers and some reviews people were having issues with the touch screen rotating. Since everything was pretty much the same or similar I decided to stick with the 4 classic.
Amazing decision! I just purchased the Gaalxy 4 classic over the 5 pro for that exact reason! This rotating bezel makes this watch the easiest watch to use and the sexiest there is and stays on top as the best smart watch there is in terms of features and looks by far! Doesn't look 6 years old with a thick black bezel around the screen like the 5 pro.
Great video Mike and hope the eye recovers soon. I have the watch 4 Classic. I can't see the benefit of a bigger battery when I charge over night anyway. Plus I use a venu 2 for daily cycling as I think Garmin are way ahead of Samsung on the hardware and software side for fitness.
The original Galaxy watch 46mm (2018) looks fantastic, stainless steel body, rotating bezel with a whopping 472 mAh battery. With screen always on, it lasts for almost 3 days.
Yeah I was just commenting on why should I trade my galaxy watch original for something that just has a few different features when my 2018 is paid off and still runs great.
That's why I'm not moving off my Galaxy watch 3. I can't imagine not having the physical rotating bezel and I bought mine used for 65 bucks in mint condition. I don't see really any reason to "upgrade"
I really thought I'd miss the rotating bezel, but nope I'm loving this Watch 5 Pro. I'm a female and surprisingly love the size of the pro on my wrist. It is definitely the most comfortable galaxy watch I have had. I thought I'd hate, but I truly love it.
One question, in comparison to the watch 4 classic, how's the speed and response time of the watch 5 pro? because with my watch 4 classic, at times it lags a little with voice to text recognition and google assistant.
I am one of those in the market for one or the other. I'm embedded in the Galaxy world and I've wanted one of the watches since the Active was released. I love the 4 Classic and also the rotating bezel. That was huge for me. I love everything about the 5 Pro, but no bezel is killing me. Thanks for the video! Not sure if I made up my mind yet though. The battery life and price difference gets in the way too. I might just wait for the 6 since I think they'll bring back the rotating bezel after all the complaints about it going away.
The 4 classic is pretty nice, especially for what the price is now. My only complaint is once I activated Google pay, I have to unlock it every time I use it since the sensor doesn't wanna recognize its still on my wrist...
After all my research, I went for the Galaxy 4 classic. Looks is super important and the galaxy 5 pro looks 6 years old with that black think bezel around the watch.
I for the most part always kept using galaxy watch for the rotating bezel. It's a touch that can be used for function and form. The bezel alone keeps me from upgrading
Although I love the rotating bezel of the 4 classic the battery tradeoff on the 5Pro is well worth the trade off for me. I'm heavy user between notifications, workouts and GPS and my 4 classic would barely make it a day and that's with me sticking it on the charger for a quick charge during the day. With the 5Pro and same usage I charge every 3 days. With the watch 4 classic I charged 7days a week with the 5Pro I charge twice a week.
For me you are right about the bezel... No physical bezel means I will not consider upgrading unless they deicide to add a 5 classic at some point.... My watch 4 classic will keep me happy till 6 or 7 comes and hopefully they bring back the bezel on one of those next models
I actually never used the rotating bezzle on the watch 3. I don't know why but it's not useful. I know the 5pro can be rotated in the edge of the touch screen which is I don't mind
I want to upgrade my watch ( currently have the galaxy watch active 2) to the new galaxy watch 5 pro but I think I'll go with the galaxy watch 4 classic because of the physical Rotating bezel! Great overview by the way.
I actually like that it doesn't have a bezel. All the time when I was swimming or hanging out on a beach. That bezel got stuck for bit while rotation. It goes down after sometime but still not a great experience. I had to also send my watches classic 3 to Samsung one day because of bezel problems after ocean lol. So they got it fixed. So for me bezel absence will add durability for my watch. So upgrading from Classic 3 will be great for me. But if I had a Watches 4 I would stick with them.
I have the Watch 4 Classic and upgraded to the Pro. I love the bezel but the better materials and larger battery seem worth it. I also wanted better sleep tracking and the like. I will miss the classic watch look of the 4 classic though. We'll see if I regret it.
Also worth mentioning from a "durability" standpoint, stainless steel and titanium are basically just as durable (the difference is that titanium weighs about 40% less and has a bit better corrosion resistance)
I'd much rather have titanium any day of the week and have had great experience with past titanium watches and rings vs stainless steel. Heck, I look at my stainless steel sink and it scratches
I'm still rocking the S3 frontier. The lack of physical rotating bezel is enough for me to just wait to see if the 6 or 7 or whatever they make in the future has it. What i want from a galaxy watch: - Physical rotating bezel. - more battery. - health tracking (sleep, steps and heart rate) - alarms because i sleep with earplugs and the vibration alarm in the watch is great. Everything else doesn't matter to me so much.
I've sent the 5pro back, missed the physical rotating bezel too much plus the 4 just looks better, the extra glare outside on the 5pro was also very annoying, and the new sensor had trouble with tracking sleep stages regardless how snug I put it on my wrist. The better build of the 5pro doesn't really make a difference in real life so yeah, my 4Classic is not going anywhere anytime soon!
to be honest, after switching over to the galaxy watch 4 (no rotating bezel), it made me realize how little i actually used it. For me anyways, I feel like i've grown out of it.
@@monubhaiya9022 not really. I used S3 frontier with rotating bezel and an Galaxy watch 4 without bezel and I never felt that I need that rotating bezel. The "virtual/software" bezel is just enough, at least for me.
@@RACAPE thanks.. i was thinking to buy as it will be my 1st watch.. i want only for fitness trackng general not core .. should i gor for s4 watch or mi band 7 will be good as price difference is huge...
@@monubhaiya9022 I never used a Mi Band so I can’t say anything about it, but Samsung watches are very good. And also if you own an Samsung phone, integration will be very good.
That heart rate accuracy is what's really selling me right now on the watch 4 classic. I tested both the watch 5 and watch 5 pro at a local Samsung store, and the pro's HR detection was all over the place during squats or table pushups.
Mike, don't get over it. You're ranting about the bezel for all of us. I have the 5 pro and I'm still contemplating sending it back. Samsung should leave well enough alone
Give me my rotating bezel baaack!! I am really disappointed they removed it! I hope they can bring it back on the watch 6. Also don't like how it looks thicker. I just bought a watch 4 classic 46mm and would be really sad if it's the last one with a physical rotating bezel. Great video!!
Pro 5 comes from Fedex on Tuesday. Traded in a Watch 4 and got 180 off plus a dual wireless charger. As an added bonus, I already have the Watch 4 classic. I like it because it looks more like a real watch when I go out on the town.
I still can't figure out how you did that, I can't find the IEME ON MY WATCH 4, SO I'm stuck, and I definitely want to get the watch 5 pro, give me some info please.
Google IMEI, it's supposed to be a number on your watch like a cereal number, to be able to do a trade in, I can find the serial number in settings, but I can't find the IMEI number.
@@JohnnyZenith absolutely I think is beautiful watch I preordered the 44 mm watch 5 to send Samsung a message I always order the classic model. I have the link filled out to also order the 5 pro with trade in of My 4 classic LTE it’s hard to hit confirm. I love the bezel

what do you think i should buy now 4 classic or 5 ? Not 5 pro just 5. It's almost the same price. I'm so confused. one is newer but the other has better design.
Thanks Mike for being so honest about the rotating bezel😔 It was the major reason for me to go for Samsung but now with the release of watch 5 the Huawei watches look more interesting because of their accuracy that rivals Apple's One thing I fail to understand is why big manufacturers think it's wise to hide behind excuses like a bigger battery. Consumers look for helpful features not excuses!
@@BkBk-gy6vr You can do everything the watch does on a phone...gimmick. Everything a phone does is much better on dedicated devices, phones are just gimmick machines. Really though, people don't love gimmicks and go back for more for specific gimmicks. Gimmicks are good for tricking people the first time. The bezel is iconic. I don't even use it ever, but it makes the watch look so much better than they do otherwise. I wouldn't wear the new one over my GS4C, even if it was free. Hopefully the sales reflect a mediocre upgrade and they make a Classic down the road.
I'd argue the Classic is more durable than the Pro because the Pro has concave glass so if something hits the edge the glass is still flush with the frame so it's not protected while on the Classic model the whole rotating bezel is made from stainless steel and the glass that could break is well protected underneath the raised lip. I've done two mud runs and work in construction and the display on my OG Galaxy Watch doesn't even have a scratch on it 🤷♂ I'm leaning towards a Watch4 Classic now that the price is even lower because I hate the virtual bezel but I think I go to a store and try it out before deciding. If I don't edit this comment I'm happy with my Watch4 Classic and the virtual bezel still sucks.
I have the watch 4 classic. I had to send it off twice in a year because of the seal breaking down around the bezel. You can tell this is happening when the bezel doesn't turn smoothly and a black rubber starts coming out from under the bezel. Samsung did the repair for free both times, but my year is up. Samsung has been aware of the issue since the s4 and has just fixed it if under warranty. The last time I spoke with Samsung, they said it was replaced because it was a cost saving measure.
Yes I’ll never get a galaxy watch without a rotating bezel, that’s what set it apart. The only thing that could’ve made it better was a superior os or processor, and that did not happen so I’ll be sticking to my Apple Watch.
I decided to go w/ the 4 Classic. The bezel is the main selling point for me and I'm coming from the Samsung Gear s3. I'm curious to see what improvements were made. I would of went w/ the Samsung Watch 5 Pro but they decided to pull the bezel from the lineup.
nobody talks about the back of the watch, nobody. Samsung does not mention it anywhere, no youtuber, no tests. I guess its plastic? Huawei make it out of ceramic, make notes Samsung!
The rotating bezel is the one aspect of the classic that made me not want it. I hit the bezel on my Garmin all the time and figured it would get damaged. I preordered the Pro because it didnt have the rotating bezel and has a bigger battery.
Got my Galaxy watch 5 pro from pre-order on Tuesday. Took the deal to trade in my Galaxy watch 4. I had a question whether it was worth the upgrade. It definitely is and let me explain. First, the battery life is great. That alone makes it worth it. Second, reviewers aren't mentioning the build quality. From the feel of the watch, and the clickiness of the buttons, the watch just feels better. Third, the rotating bezel is not an issue. The raised lip on this watch makes using the fake rotating bezel much easier than it was on the Galaxy watch for. It's actually a pleasure to use. Finally, I have only used it in a workout twice, but the heart rate sensor seems to be much more accurate. I wear a chest strap and the watch and every time I looked they were both dead on with each other. They're just some unspoken things that make me really like this watch. I have big wrists so the size isn't an issue. If you don't have large wrist that might be a deal breaker for you.
I've never had the Galaxy watch 4, but everyone was saying it was the best thing to exist, but I honestly couldn't ever imagine my self using it, I feel like it would be super in the way. Thank you for this comment
@@koreywashington7422 I had many Wear OS and Tizen watches, as well as an Apple watch series 5 and 6. The GW4 was the closest to an Apple Watch, I'd say about 90% there. The GW5 Pro is maybe better. I think Apple has down haptics and integration with their apps because they're so locked down. But the battery life and build quality of the pro is better than Apple even if the haptics an app integration aren't completely there yet. This is my favorite watch.
I had to switch from a Huawei GT3 to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro after I moved from Bali to California. Apparently in the USA, you cannot use any of the GPS functionality of a Huawei product. I miss my Huawei, here's why; battery last 5-7 days, better display, dynamic GPS tracking (not in USA), faster processor and better look.
Pre-ordered a five pro and it is coming tuesday. Trading in my Galaxy watch 4 for a 5 pro. Don't know if it's worth it but I'm looking forward to the new watch!
If it weren't for the awful battery life of the 4 Classic I would have kept it (LTE version). However, for that reason alone I will be getting the 5 Pro (non-LTE version). If I didn't use sleep tracking I could charge it every night and not have an issue, but the short charging time available when I'm showering just isn't cutting it and I often have to take it off (or leave it off) to charge it further in order to make it through the day. With the larger battery and faster charging, I hope the 5 Pro will do what I need.
I am so pissed that they didn't make a pro in small size, I'm keeping my regular watch 4 40mm, I'm not going to bother with the 5. If they add a small pro sometimes down the road I'll probably get it. My wrists are way too small for the larger watches.
Out of all the reviewers out there I enjoyed yours the most. I have the 4 Classic currently but that battery in the 5 pro is NICE. I have to charge my 4 classic every night and sometimes I forget to and the next day I can't wear it. I will miss my fidget rotation bezel immensely but I think I will be fine. Also that new band is 100% on fire!!! I hate having to tuck the watch band through the two loops multiple times a day.
I thought I was the only one that had to tuck the band in several times a day on my watch 4 classic. Another thing on longer battery life is when I go on overnight trips I shouldn't have to take the charger with me. I don't think the watch 5 pro gets better battery life then the watch 4 classic. The watch 5 pro has almost double sized battery, it should last longer. Put the same size battery in the watch 4 classic and it would last a lot longer also. They underpowered the watch 4 classic. I don't use the rotating bezel on my watch 4 classic, I always do the swipe on watch screen. I get the rotating bezels on the watches for looks. So I'm going to try the watch 5 pro as it looks decent, the best I've seen without the rotating bezels. I kept my watch 4 classic for back up or to go back to it it turns out I don't like the watch 5 pro. I can sell one in swappa if I need to
I just received the Watch 5 Pro 2 days ago and it served my purpose, and I'll tell you why in a bit I'm a current Watch 4 Classic owner and loved the rotating bezel but battery life really disappointed. Added to that, the original strap design left the tail end always hanging out, despite adjusting the twin loops time and again. Back to the Watch 5 Pro. I bought it primarily for the 2 shortcomings mentioned above and I am more than happy with the change and here's why 1) Battery: A full charge lasted exactly 43 hours without skimping or tweaking any of the settings. Bluetooth, WiFi and AOD were always on. 2) The strap is super comfortable and a breeze to wear or remove the Watch. Honestly, though the watch looks chunky from the side, I barely feel the weight. Of course I miss the rotating bezel on the Watch 4 Classic, not from a physical point of view but for the lack of precise control while trying to rotate on the Watch 5 Pro using the touchscreen. Guess I'll master it as time goes by 😁 Hope the above helps you guys make an informed purchase decision.
@@leandrolgfreitas The 80 hours could be with every possible added feature switched off i.e. WiFi, BT, GPS, AOD, lowered screen brightness, vibration off. Etc. My take is simple. If the Watch can last overnight with everything on and in the process measure sleep metrics, you've got a winner. It's pointless to have a device that needs to be charged at night that would miss out on essential sleep tracking.
I'm surprised you didn't compare the 4 Classic to the 5 44mm. They are more similar in size and price and features (with the 5 again having longer battery life) although everyone knows the support and updates will last longer on the 5.
Rotating bezel was no good. Mine started skipping pages right before I traded it in. Used to love it. But the new system on the watch 5 pro is definitely a longevity upgrade
I had a Watch Active 2 that broke down a few weeks back, I'm glad I didn't wait for the Watch 5 I knew they were going to dump the rotating bezel and I wanted it! And I'm glad I did because it's way better than the touch bezel, I never used that while I always use my rotating bezel, Im now thinking of buying a spare 4 classic, maybe the stainless steel one, I've got the black one at the moment, but that stainless steel looks very good
I will keep my gw4 classic, this rotating bezel is the only reason I bought my smart watch. It realy feels great, you know it if you use it. Thanks for the honest review
My original galaxy watch 1 46mm is still rocking. Battery lasts 3-4 days on one charge, rotating bezel, it's old so I don't have to worry about it getting a little scratched, and it's STILL thinner than the 5 pro even being 8 years older.
I agree with you. I loved the bezel. But hesitant about the watch 4 to upgrade to from my original watch classic first gen because of the smaller battery....
I'm really anxious to see the pixel watch come out and see the new Wear OS features, i feel like GSW4 and GSW5 are being nerfed until this new update comes out
Mine arrived 2+ days ago. Battery was on 80%-ish. Set it up, put it back on the charger. Put it on at 100% later that afternoon and had it on since (minus the showers). 51+ hrs, 2 sleep cycles later the battery is at 33%. Edit: had it on for another night and put it on the charger in the morning at 1048 am. when the batt was at 19%. As much as i wanted the bezel, the battery is nothing to complain about if one comes from an earlier model.
I disagree, i prefer the non rotating bezel. I have the 4 classic 46mm and I’m waiting for the galaxy 5 pro to arrive. I also like your channel. The one thing I haven’t anyone talk about is if the 5 pro can use the same size bands as the 4 classic.
I'm definitely having trouble adjusting to no bezel. And I'm very disappointed that they didn't add back the auto detect cycling for the pro.. I tested it yesterday
@@MikeOBrienMedia I agree! Very good review! thx The rotating bezel can also be used by rubbing it against something like a wrist, leg whatever. This is very handy if an alarm or timer goes off and for various reasons it would be hard or impossible to put your fingers on it to dismiss or snooze without that bezel. As a RN, I am wearing PPE at times with the watch under a protective sleeve. I have a Watch 4 Classic 42mm , and Gear S2 Classic, Note 20 Ultra 5g ... and I have a small wrist, so there's the size issue too. Since the Watch 4 gets 4 years of updates the software will probably be the same too. I've read the updates and coming our soon.. I like the bigger battery, improved sensor fit, and fast charging, but it's worth the extra cost and no rotating bezel, and there's only the large size. The trade-in value on the Watch 4 Classic and other Samsung promos are very good now but only if it's an upgrade one likes overall. But I am waiting for another Classic or something else. Btw the battery life is just marginal on the watch 4. I usually charge (it's pretty quick) before bed to do sleep tracking, and top it off again before work. I also bought another charger just in case. But I never to use the always-on setting or many other apps because the battery will tank too fast, and that's a pity! I don't even look for fancy watch faces or apps anymore. I like what the Watch 4 Classic can do otherwise , it's still an amazing device! Keeping it for now.

I am going to upgrade my Watch 3 to a 4 Classic. I tried on the 5 pro at Best Buy and was disappointed. At 48 years old, I do need to put on readers for many functions on my smartphone and a watch. With my Watch 3, when I am working out, If I want to look at my heart rate, I can simply rotate the bezel 1 click. If I want to switch tracks of music, I can rotate the bezel 3 clicks. Without that bezel, I will have to put on my reading glasses to properly navigate the Watch 5 pro. Also, with sweaty hands, the screen tactile display does not give you that immediate feedback that you are looking for. Also, you will be cleaning your watch screen much more because you will be touching it much more.
Mike I'm with you on the rotation bezel as for the battery on the gw4 classic lte with AOD ON I'm still getting 1 day 15 hours what would I gain from gw5 NOTHING I'm very sad 😥 for gw5 owners that don't have the rotation bezel Thanks for your comments Blue from London UK 🇬🇧
I have the Galaxy watch 4 classic and I love the rotating bezel. I hate that they got rid of it but it does make the watch look more sleek without it. I think I'll be sticking with my watch 4 classic until the next watch comes out. Thank you for the review! I love watching your tech videos! They are very helpful when it comes to decision making.
The biggest issue with the Watch 4 Classic (WiFi) is the meager battery life. Since launch time when I bought it, the battery barely lasts a full day and that's with general use such as notifications and checking the time. Battery life is king for me which is why I am trading it in for the 5 Pro.
I was planning to upgrade my galaxy gear 3 and was waiting to see the reviews for the watch 5. Decided to go for a watch 4 classic on sale and I'm happy with my decision.
i will keep my watch 4, love the rotating bezel and premium classic look. My opinion downgrade, I charge my devices daily anyway. I will upgrade the earbuds & phone.
Samsung keeps having an identity crisis, this watch should be called Galaxy Active 5 and they should have a sapphire version of the Watch Classic. The longer battery is trying to appeal those with Garmin watches, but Garmin is ages ahead, sorry Samsung.
I am considering sending my 5 Pro back and keeping my 4 Classic. Not only do I miss the rotating bezel but I think the 4 classic is a better looking watch. I will make a firm decision after a day or two of seeing if there is an improve in the sleep tracking. I feel that both the fitbit sense and the Oura ring do a better job than the 4 classic.
Imagine going to a fancy event, wearing a nice suit and trying to blend in with that chunky Watch 5 Pro. There's no comparison, the Watch 4 Classic is just a much better looking device.
Crystal sapphire, double battery size, titanium case, quick charging, temp sensor, no overheating on LTE. BIG upgrade from my w4c. I barely ever use the rotating bezel and when I swim it usually gets crunchy from dirt and debris under it. My watch 5 Pro arrives tomorrow and the Caseology case for it looks amazing.

The lack of the rotating bezel turned me away from the watch 5 pro. I prefer my watch to look more classy and more of a true "watch" and so far, the galaxy watch 4 classic suits me best. I cannot understand their reasoning behind removing the bezel tbh. It was not a good decision and I believe they are going to bring it back either with a watch 5 classic down the line or with a watch 6? classic.
Same. The GW4 classic just looks better IMO.

Well sadly many people didnt buy it soo sucks to be samsung and us
The beauty of the GW4 Classic is the Rotating Bezel.
Sounds like something is wrong with your watch
I’m more impressed with your use of crestfallen.
The bezel is really great on the classic. If you sweat heavily, or go for workouts such as swimming , the bezel works wonders when you cant touch the screen. The sensors for fitness tracking are not a great improvement and definately not worth the upgrade for me. Ill stick to the classic.
Completely agree about the rotating bezel. I kept my 4 Classic, because of it. Thanks for the review.
l still have my s3 classic for esthetic reasons.. 😵 I was waiting for the watch 5 before upgrading, now I might upgrade to the watch 4 classic.
I read this before the video started and I e was like "nuff said 👍🏽"
If they're really emulating apple then they'll probably release a bezel separately.
Ditto
Same here!
I honestly hope they bring back the classic rotating bezel on the next Galaxy Watch lineup. I'm still using the GW1 and still love it. If I need to upgrade then I would prefer to have the rotating bezel with that 590 mAh battery size to make it feel complete.
Yes they did
Lack of rotating bezel is an instant deal breaker for me. I have the galaxy watch that came with preordering s10. I cannot imagine using a galaxy watch without the bezel. It feels .... empty. Like oneplus phone without the slider.
The latest OP phone removed the alert slider lol really bad decision
I'm quite on the opposite of you. I hate the rotating bezel especially the original galaxy watch. I can't stand that the numbers on the bezel not matching the arrows on the face. Also I'm always deftly afraid on using the bezel as it light wear out prematurely.
@@JTManuel do you use your watch with non-samsung device? if so, does the camera preview work?
@@aljibejerwin unfortunately no. I've never used a galaxy watch with any other phones aside from samsung. Sorry.
The rotating bezel touch screen as well as physical buttons make it awkward to navigate .The bezel or the buttons are not really needed
I just picked up the Galaxy watch 4 classic for a steal of a deal at $179. Loving it so far. Battery can last a day with medium use and the rotating bezel and look and features are stellar.
Where did you find it for that price? Lol thats a great deal!

I think the only two "downgrades" are the lack of a smaller size and the lack of a physical bezel. Otherwise the 5 Pro looks really great.
I think there other things they could improve, like they could put a better processor and more Ram on the newer model to justify the price tag. they could at least make a 46mm instead of a 45mm.
@@MarcoChapita it already has the best processor in the wearable market.

Pro 5 all the way.
@@BkBk-gy6vr I retuned mine.
Almost bought the Watch 4 but I needed better battery life and when I tried on the classic I actually didn't like the look of the bezel. Ordered the Watch Pro 5 as it finally checks enough boxes for me to get off the fence and buy my first smartwatch.
ive had mine for 4 days now. its sooo good
@@anotidachoto9460 I ordered the Bluetooth version then realized that having LTE may be handy for my lifestyle and ordered the LTE version the next day. Couldn't cancel the Bluetooth version online, for some reason, and I'm now dealing with Samsung trying to return it now that it's delivered. Still waiting for the LTE version to even ship. They sure are taking their time
@@Yielar1 I have the BT version and realised having the LTE would be much better foe me also. I'm happy with the BT regardless
The battery life is a night and day difference. I'm so happy with the watch 5 I do miss the rotating bezel but the battery life you gain is worth it.
I never had a smartwatch before since i think everything what u can do on a smartwatch can also do on a smartphone
So is it worth it how is your experience?
Wide decision. The touch bezel sucks in the Watch 4. The Active 2 was much better.
Ditto!
One question, in comparison to the watch 4 classic, how's the speed and response time of the watch 5 pro?
because with my watch 4 classic, at times it lags a little with voice to text recognition and google assistant.
Same processor so....
Just get rid of Google assistant if you don't use it, trust me it makes the watch smooth.
4 classic is on sale at Walmart for 159... easy choice over 5 pro
I charge my 5pro every 3 days. The battery is amazing on this.
Completely agree I love the bezel I am upgrading from a 3 to probably a 4 just because of that
For me you are right about the bezel... No physical bezel means I will not consider upgrading unless they deicide to add a 5 classic at some point.... My watch 4 classic will keep me happy till 6 or 7 comes and hopefully they bring back the bezel on one of those next models
The bezel is why I bought the GW4C instead of waiting for the 5, couldn’t agree more about the bezel
User problem
I have the Watch 4 Classic and upgraded to the Pro. I love the bezel but the better materials and larger battery seem worth it. I also wanted better sleep tracking and the like. I will miss the classic watch look of the 4 classic though. We'll see if I regret it.
Bro what u think about watch 5 pro after 10 days
Is the sleep tracking better?
Also worth mentioning from a "durability" standpoint, stainless steel and titanium are basically just as durable (the difference is that titanium weighs about 40% less and has a bit better corrosion resistance)
I'd much rather have titanium any day of the week and have had great experience with past titanium watches and rings vs stainless steel. Heck, I look at my stainless steel sink and it scratches
I'm still rocking the S3 frontier. The lack of physical rotating bezel is enough for me to just wait to see if the 6 or 7 or whatever they make in the future has it.
What i want from a galaxy watch:
- Physical rotating bezel.
- more battery.
- health tracking (sleep, steps and heart rate)
- alarms because i sleep with earplugs and the vibration alarm in the watch is great.
Is it not worth ?i mean no use of this much?
@@monubhaiya9022 not really. I used S3 frontier with rotating bezel and an Galaxy watch 4 without bezel and I never felt that I need that rotating bezel. The "virtual/software" bezel is just enough, at least for me.

Consumers also dont want things that are gimmicky like a bezel. Im glad its gone.
@@BkBk-gy6vr gimmicky? why so?
@@almusic6842 Because you can do the same exact things without a bezel...gimmick
Just bought the watch 4 classic it just made more sense lower price near same spec and that rotating bezel
I'd argue the Classic is more durable than the Pro because the Pro has concave glass so if something hits the edge the glass is still flush with the frame so it's not protected while on the Classic model the whole rotating bezel is made from stainless steel and the glass that could break is well protected underneath the raised lip. I've done two mud runs and work in construction and the display on my OG Galaxy Watch doesn't even have a scratch on it 🤷♂
I'm leaning towards a Watch4 Classic now that the price is even lower because I hate the virtual bezel but I think I go to a store and try it out before deciding.
How's the battery life going???
I couldn't agree more! No rotating bezel is a massive step backwards! I was considering upgrading but there is no way I will now. What a mistake.
Step backwards?
What you talking about.
nobody talks about the back of the watch, nobody.
I would rather hit bezel than screen. Rotating bezel not only more ergonomic and classy look, but also may protect your screen.

Where did you find the IMEI number, I can't seem to find it, just the serial number
Galaxy watch rugged is exactly the right name for the new watch!. Thanks for making the video man!
I can sell one in swappa if I need to
Definitely need that battery life I can swipe to my watch screens battery life before rotating bezel
I just received the Watch 5 Pro 2 days ago and it served my purpose, and I'll tell you why in a bit
I'm a current Watch 4 Classic owner and loved the rotating bezel but battery life really disappointed. Added to that, the original strap design left the tail end always hanging out, despite adjusting the twin loops time and again.
Back to the Watch 5 Pro. I bought it primarily for the 2 shortcomings mentioned above and I am more than happy with the change and here's why
1) Battery: A full charge lasted exactly 43 hours without skimping or tweaking any of the settings.
Guess I'll master it as time goes by 😁
Hope the above helps you guys make an informed purchase decision.
So, far away from Samsung declared 80 hours
@@leandrolgfreitas The 80 hours could be with every possible added feature switched off i.e. WiFi, BT, GPS, AOD, lowered screen brightness, vibration off. Etc.
My take is simple. If the Watch can last overnight with everything on and in the process measure sleep metrics, you've got a winner. It's pointless to have a device that needs to be charged at night that would miss out on essential sleep tracking.
I'm surprised you didn't compare the 4 Classic to the 5 44mm. They are more similar in size and price and features (with the 5 again having longer battery life) although everyone knows the support and updates will last longer on the 5.
nice review, i picked up the classic 46mm last week new old stock. under £80 new and sealed.. very pleased with the bezzle.
That's a great price? Where did you find that?
i bought watch 4 classic bcoz of rotating bezel. watch so easy to use with bezel n enjoable
And I'm glad I did because it's way better than the touch bezel, I never used that while I always use my rotating bezel,
Im now thinking of buying a spare 4 classic, maybe the stainless steel one, I've got the black one at the moment, but that stainless steel looks very good
I will keep my gw4 classic, this rotating bezel is the only reason I bought my smart watch.
It realy feels great, you know it if you use it. Thanks for the honest review
I can't even get a full day out of my watch 4 classic. The main reason why I'm upgrading. Having to charge my watch twice a day is a huge pain
This was very helpful. I wish my 4 classic got better battery life. But I definitely prefer the rotating bezel
My original galaxy watch 1 46mm is still rocking. Battery lasts 3-4 days on one charge, rotating bezel, it's old so I don't have to worry about it getting a little scratched, and it's STILL thinner than the 5 pro even being 8 years older.
I will miss rotating bezel but for better battery life and faster charging I'll do without it. My 5 Pro should be in Tuesday.
same! I never had the rotating bezel sooooo, i won't be knowing what i'm missing
Im chilling with my watch 4 classic . I dont know why they removed the rotating bezel
Because it's pointless. You can just swipe left.
@@PureAwesomeMess no its more handy
I agree with you. I loved the bezel. But hesitant about the watch 4 to upgrade to from my original watch classic first gen because of the smaller battery....
I'm really anxious to see the pixel watch come out and see the new Wear OS features, i feel like GSW4 and GSW5 are being nerfed until this new update comes out
My watch 4 classic steps go up when driving, 😂
Mine arrived 2+ days ago. Battery was on 80%-ish. Set it up, put it back on the charger. Put it on at 100% later that afternoon and had it on since (minus the showers). 51+ hrs, 2 sleep cycles later the battery is at 33%. Edit: had it on for another night and put it on the charger in the morning at 1048 am. when the batt was at 19%. As much as i wanted the bezel, the battery is nothing to complain about if one comes from an earlier model.
When using the electronic bezel on the 5 Pro, do you have to touch the screen, or do you touch the bezel when performing the rotation? Thanks!
The screen
I disagree, i prefer the non rotating bezel. I have the 4 classic 46mm and I’m waiting for the galaxy 5 pro to arrive. I also like your channel. The one thing I haven’t anyone talk about is if the 5 pro can use the same size bands as the 4 classic.
yes it s standard 20mm
Wow! I was on the fence about which way to go but you helped immensely!
Thank you!
I'm definitely having trouble adjusting to no bezel. And I'm very disappointed that they didn't add back the auto detect cycling for the pro.. I tested it yesterday
I am really hoping Samsung comes out with a Watch 5 Classic sometime. A winter launch alongside the S23 would be amazing!
@@MikeOBrienMedia I agree! Very good review! thx
The rotating bezel can also be used by rubbing it against something like a wrist, leg whatever.
@@MikeOBrienMedia can u PLEASE comment on the Galaxy 5 Pro or any other Galaxy watch that u would most recommend for salt water [surfing and paddle boarding] o is there another smart watch more reliable for saltwater and compatible with a Galaxy phone ad Google assistant . I’m not that concerned about price. I’ve been watching your videos for hours. Please advise
I think I lean more towards the classic ONLY for the rotating bezel.
How is the usage of that digital bezel?
I'll stick with my Classic until they make a better bezel watch.
That battery alone though... try streaming music using buds while on lte on the classic 4, report back with results
Mike I'm with you on the rotation bezel as for the battery on the gw4 classic lte with AOD ON I'm still getting 1 day 15 hours what would I gain from gw5 NOTHING I'm very sad 😥 for gw5 owners that don't have the rotation bezel
Thanks for your comments

kudos to you. making the video despite the bug issue. great video. wish you well brother
I have the Galaxy watch 4 classic and I love the rotating bezel. I hate that they got rid of it but it does make the watch look more sleek without it. I think I'll be sticking with my watch 4 classic until the next watch comes out. Thank you for the review! I love watching your tech videos! They are very helpful when it comes to decision making.
they will probably release a pro classic, or something, otherwise it's a pretty mindbogglingly decision
The biggest issue with the Watch 4 Classic (WiFi) is the meager battery life. Since launch time when I bought it, the battery barely lasts a full day and that's with general use such as notifications and checking the time. Battery life is king for me which is why I am trading it in for the 5 Pro.
well just make sure to ask people to pay you for that couse there getting the beter deal :D
Battery is EVERYTHING when it comes to these devices.
4 classic all the way. Unless samsung put a sale on gear 5 pro like 50% discount lol
Thank you for the review. My Galaxy 3 went kaput yesterday (sfter 4 years) and trying to decide on my next move. Leaning toward 4 Classic.
To me, the most beautiful galaxy watch is the watch 3 :v although the os is not as good as the current one
YASS! Finally, a real watch 4 classic owner!
These "bezel lovers" don't know what they're talking about.
What kind of strap was on galaxy 4 classic! Kindly send me the link. Thanx
0:51 you're so kind enough to tell us this as well, how nice, really!!! 😅😂 I just love to watch your review videos Mike, you're the best.
Design wise: Galaxy Watch 3 classic > Galaxy watch 4 classic >>> Galaxy watch 5 pro
Feature wise: Galaxy Watch 3 classic
Awesome and very comprehensive video!
