With my GW4 Classic, I'll hit the end of the day with only 15 to 20% left. And that's at only 1/2 brightness, no background metrics tracking during the day, but trackng a 1 & 1/2 hour workout every day. It sucks. I'm now getting sensor failure messages also. I got the 44mm 5 (first smartwatch - so nothing to compare it to!) - but it was difficult to choose between that, the 4 Classic and 5 Pro however something about that "flat" look of the 5 really appealed to me. Got a metal strap off Amazon to complete the look. I don't use it for fitness or sleep tracking so turning all those sensors off, AOD on, reading notifications and replying to messages I get an easy 2d / 48 hours...end of 3d / 72 hours I'm at like 15% which isn't ideal. It came down to size for me... I have smaller wrists and the 5 Pro and 44mm 5 (regular) are just too big to fit properly and I feel the band would always be loose. One nice thing is that the band of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is made of a stretchy rubber-like substance that can expand. This is important for me because my wrists change size a lot when I lift weights. My previous Galaxy Watch (1st gen) had a band that could not change size, so I had to constantly readjust the watch band during workouts until I bought a third party band from someone else. I resisted upgrading from the Galaxy Watch because of battery life. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is the first one to come close to the original Galaxy Watch in battery life, although mostly I upgraded because various firmware updates over the years ate into the meager storage space. I only had a few watch faces, and was using around 3GB out of 4GB. I had long ago uninstalled apps that I liked to free up space. PS-Although the battery life of the Watch 5 Pro is pretty close to the original Galaxy Watch, it's still less, and I can feel it as I use the watch.
I went with the 44mm watch 5. The pro is just way too bulky and overkill for a daily watch. Battery life has been great, however I dont see why people take issue charging their watch every night as their phone is already on the charger. Samsung sent their dual wireless charger with the watch for free as a pre order bonus, so I just toss my watch and phone on it every night. However I also just ordered the new Amazfit GTR 4 to compare it to, and from my experience with the GTR 3 Pro the Amazfit kills it for the price and I like the looks more. As far as the Watch 5 goes, throw a Ringke sport case on it with their metal bezel and you have a perfect smartwatch. I got the set for 14 bucks and a set of 39.5mm glass screen protectors from aliexpress for 3 dollars shipped. They fit perfectly inside the metal ring and the watch is bulletproof.
I have a Watch 3 classic and didn't see a need to upgrade to the 4 even though it ran Wear OS. Samsung has a promo where you can trade in a smartwatch in any condition (physically. still needs to turn on and function). I couldn't pass it up, as I still had the Gear Sport sitting in my closet. Ended up getting $75 credit towards the GW5. I like having Wear OS with all the Google apps vs. Tizen. I do miss the rotating bezel. I'm happy with the watch so far.
I’m considering upgrading from the 4 classic to the 5 pro just for the extra battery life. If I wear the 4 classic all day with the LTE function on, I may not make it through the day , especially if I do some exercise tracking. Or use it as a stand alone phone. So if I can RELIABLY make it through the day before needing a charge, it’s probably worth it. I’d miss the rotating bezel though.
Did they fix the lte overheat issues? I sent 4 of the watch 4 lte devices back before giving up. Is the 5 lte still junk? I haven't heard anything positive about it so far.
@@JohnnyFaber I’d say mostly. Under normal circumstances, it doesn’t overheat . I actually had a 1/2 hour phone conversation once using the speaker on the watch using it as a Stand alone phone, and it didn’t overheat. I also streamed music for about 45 minutes using the watch speaker (I didn’t have any earphones at the time) with no problem. But if I’m in an area with a very weak signal with the location service on, it may still overheat just sitting on my wrist. But it will cool as soon as I get around a good signal again. I hope they fix that on the 5 LTE. Most GW 5 reviews I’ve seen have been positive. .
I have the Watch 5 44mm and the battery life seems to be solid enough. Looks like I can get two days out of it, similar to my previous Watch 2 Active. The Watch 5 Pro is great for serious athletes and those who know that they can't charge their watch within two days. Even a 5km run with accurate GPS tracking would put a serious dent in the battery life of my Watch 2 Active, so I bet the larger battery in the Pro model helps a lot. Also... It is a LOT less expensive than the Apple Watch Ultra while offering mostly the same features.
I think the pro is for someone who’s forgetful and reducing the amount of devices that need a battery pack to be carried along. Even if it’s really expensive , it helps if you’re forgetful yet active. Also since smartwatches keep to do lists adds to helping this kind of situation
I mean if you have a samsung phone you could just charge it on the back of the phone. Left it when you sleep and get both at full charge on the morning
@@mehshutup3041 yeah but the latest Samsung phones have pretty mediocre battery life as it is. The s22 in particular doesn't really have much room to spare
It's ment for active ppl. When you go out camping u don't have ur watch dying in a day. If they wanted it for forgetful they make the watch last for weeks or months. But they want to pack features with a good display and sacrifice a lot of battery for it.
Hi Mike. I haven't heard much on the OS used on the regular Watch5 and I was wondering if it a good option for someone who doesn't necessarily want to stick to the Samsung ecosystem (namely, Bixby...) but would rather have a Google-center experience (more specifically, Google Assistant, Google Wallet, and YT Music). Please, could you elaborate on that in a future video? Thanks and cheers!
I think the watch 5 pro provides more battery to let users have better experience in smart watches. In the past, many functions were turned off to save power. Increasing the battery allows users to experience the convenience brought by the watch more completely.
I do a HIIT workout on a treadmill. It consists of a warmup, the workout, and the cool down. The workout has 8 segments of 2 minutes each with 30 seconds running at 7.6 mph with 90 seconds of walking at 2.5 mph. Is there a fitness tracking watch that can contend with that? I'd like to add jumping rope to this routine with 8 segments of 30 seconds of speed jump roping and 90 seconds of rest. Can any fitness tracking watch deal with that?
As an alpha male that oozes big dick energy it was no contest for me simply because of the battery life but if you don't mind charging every night or at most 2 nights then the regular will save you money
Hi Mike, great video as always. Very thorough. I currently have the Watch 3 and I am looking for an upgrade. I also have the Pixel 6 Pro and was wanting your opinion if I should wait for the Pixel Watch or get the Watch 5 Pro?
Fantastic review, best I've seen of this comparison. I was sold on watching the video after you summarized the target audience for each model in the intro.
Am definitely getting the watch 5 pro ... I know I will miss the bezel but I need the longer battery life ...hope they will bring up the bezel on the 6th generation of the watch
I tested Watch 5 PRO GPS VS Suunto 9 Peak during a 6 hr hike in the forest and the Watch 5 pro GPS performance is really disappointing. Many times the W5P reported off- route deviations though I'm right on track.
I think the 5s were to fix the hardware issues with the 4s. My 4 always on display keeps turning off and I have to wake the watch to turn it on again and the battery life seems to be getting worse regardless of me doing anything to the watch. With the 5s they have a slight bump so when I trade in my 4 for the 5 hopefully that issue will be resolved for me along with the battery issues.
With T-mobile you can get a 40mm for $99 44mm for $149 & 2 45mm for $499...im stuck between the 44mm & 45mm...currently still rocking the Galaxy Active 2
I was on watch active 2 40mm and upgraded to the 44mm watch 5. No regrets. I have small/medium wrists so the 40mm watch active 2 looked better on my wrist when I compared to the 44mm watch active 2 in store when I tried them on. But the watch 5 has a better design and not as chunky. Slimmer body and just works better on your wrist with the whole sensorhousing not protruding as much as on the watch active 2. So when I tried on the 40mm watch 5 in store it looked very small on my wrist. But the 44mm looked perfect and fit very well. I'm very happy with my choice of the larger watch. I suggest you go into the store and try on both watch sizes and go from there.
I hade decided to get a smartwatch and cant decide witch one so do you have a recomendation? Im looking for a watch that can work for a day to day basis with my OP8 pro. Im not superactive but have a horse so it has to work when im out riding and the battery has to last atleast a day without having to worry. I think im gonna go for either 5 or 5 pro just cuz of the battery but still dont have a clue.
Great Review. You mentioned there are 3rd party app that can be installed on Watch 5 for GPX route tracking feature, which Samsung only makes available on Watch 5 Pro. Would you mind sharing which App(s) they are?. Thanks.
You mentioned the ability to navigate win 3rd party apps, but Komoot and Google maps requires a connection to a phone to navigate. Does the 5 Pro let it use navigation without the phone?
Hi, thx for the nice comparison video. Where can I get the bigger watch 5 withe silver colour and the blue bad? Can't find it anywhwere. Regards Andreas from Germany
If it wasn’t for the steep discount I probably would have stuck with my watch 4. But $14.24 for the 5 pro….couldn’t pass that up. Full price I would probably pass it up
Does it over heat? I notice when I had the watch active2 it would overheat when I played music and had timer going or when I would play music in the shower on waterproof mode
We noticed the paint is already scuffed off the top of the Watch 5 you are wearing, and it seems you haven't worn it very long. Could you please address that? You mention it, but how easily did it happen?
Definitely going to get either the watch 5 or watch 5 pro, as I use the S22 Ultra as my phone. Was an iPhone 12 Pro user and series 6 watch, changed my provider for work and personal use. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it and I will decide but if anyone can help I’d be grateful. 🙏
Great comparison video 👍🏽 It's disappointing that the pro doesn't have more storage. I'm going from the S3 Frontier to the 5 pro only because I was given the 5 pro. My S3 is still going strong and I love it 😄
I have had the S3 Fronteir now for 6 years and the back button just stopped working. I'm thinking about getting the Pro because I used my S3 Frontier nearly everyday for 6 years. I am sure that I will get my money's worth.
Great video. I have a question on battery issue. I wonder if the extra battery capacity of the Pro is so important. I would think it might be easier to remember to charge every day rather than every other day. On the other hand, if you want to analyze your sleep pattern, etc., you can't charge while sleeping. I am learning toward 5 because it is more like a size of normal watch. Should I wait for another generation of the watch, hoping that that might have more battery capacity?
Hi Mike, I love your videos btw. Keep up the great work. With the new iwatch and fitbits coming up. What do you think is the best allrounder on the market right now?
Great review, Mike. I traded the GW4 (44mm) for the GW5P for the very reasons you presented in the video. I am keeping my GW4C for dressing up and church. Keep up the excellent work and be blessed.
People often forget that you can charge your watch with your phone too. You just need to bring them close together and the watch will suck some battery from the phone (which can be charged quickly with a universal charger unlike the watch)
Can you compare Galaxy watch Pro 5 versus Michael Kors Gen 6? I have the Galaxy 3 watch still and I like it very much. But I'd like to get matching watches for myself and my husband. I like the aesthetic of the Michael kors they don't sell just the band.
Had the Watch 4 44mm, upgraded to the 5 Pro and its absolutely AMAZING!!! Battery last 3 days for me and i sleep with it all 3 nights! It's gorgeous and i highly recommend it!!
I've got the 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 Classic... and while I love the physical rotating bezel, the battery life is absolutely horrendous. I take it off the charger in the morning, and making it all the way to bedtime without a few more minutes on the charger is sometimes difficult. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 44mm Galaxy Watch 5, as I've got average to larger wrists, and the bulky look of the Watch 5 Pro does not appeal to me at all. How's the battery life on the regular Watch 5 (44mm)? I don't need sleep tracking, but will it make it through an entire day pretty easily?
Samsung should make a regular model..a pro model.. and a classic model.. would make a nice thing to add a classic 5 for the rotating bezel So like..3 differnt model if possible to appeal to the classic rotating bezel users...casual user..and sports user Well that and the rotating bezel does look nice
Hey Mike, I like your content, your style and the way you present your products. Such a humble though very competent RUclipsr. Keep it up bro. I got the Watch 5 upgrading from the Watch 42mm from 2018. It suits my wrist and fits in the budget. I like the sleek design, the "bigger" battery and the revised software in coop with Google. I miss the rotating bezel sometimes. My biggest complaint is that they removed the cycling auto detection. Somehow a downgrade in my opinion.
Thanks, very informative video, I came here after comparing them on Samsung website to figure out better if there was any other differences than the battery. I will probably go with the Watch 5 44mm 👍
From the looks of it , it seems that smartwatches no matter what brand it is just seems to not worth it anymore. Battery life, features, and so on just doesnt justify not even spending $280-$400 on a watch.
Hey for how much time you have had that watch 4?....and is the aluminium casing prone to damage very easily? coz we can take care of the screen by tempered glass without destroying the subtle looks of the watch like the watch cases , i like the looks of watch 4 more than watch 4 classic but it makes me wonder if 4 will wear off faster due to aluminium casing.....plz reply it will be really helpful
Honestly, I've had the watch 4 and the watch 5 and I don't they are worth the price. My watch 5 is lte which is convenient if I don't want to carry my phone around but other than that I guess I expected more out of it. Like, there's an app for outlook but not Gmail? I don't expect the capabilities of a full on phone but some other features would be nice.
Thank you for the great comparison Mike! I simply do not like the gw5 pros appearance. With all its vast resources I wish Samsung would consult with some kind of jeweler. No one can tell me they're watches are beautiful. I'm holding on to my gw4, and I actually started looking at the Huawei watch 3 Pro. Which ultimately leads me to the dilemma of whether or not it would cooperate with my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Curious to hear if you or anyone else in the group has tried to pair a new Huawei watch with a new Samsung phone?
@@francescob.38 I owned a Huawei watch fit, that was performing perfectly paired to my Huawei Mate 20 x. I switched to a new phone, and was unable to get it to work with my S21 Ultra.
Better battery life and ECG measuing compared to the Watch 3 Classic. But still no Blood Pressure feature and now adding skin temperature sensor to the list. Apparently the Watch 5 Pro considers grocery shopping as an exteme sport. Only 4 days in, broken Sports Band and I'm struggling to get it repaired/replaced by Samsung. Horrible online custtomer support from Samsung and onsite Samsung support can't help me either.
One thing to note is that there are aftermarket bezels for the watch 5 that would mitigate the issue with not having a physical reference point and protection.
nah if it is true sapphire glass, scratching can happen but not on the glass itself. I have Fenix 5 with Sapphire glass, and despite many unintended small hits and slides to the wall and even stone, there is not a tiniest scratch on the glass.
I'm really curious to see some scratch testing because he had seen many companies exaggerate the strength of their glass before. Apple has been lying about Sapphire for years and Samsung was pretty misleading with the claim that they're foldable screens were made out of glass ( it's clearly a hybrid of plastic and glass but it scratches exactly at the same level as plastic)
I just upgrade from galaxy watch (first version 2018) to watch 5 pro. The 2018 battery stays longer than 5 pro. The 5 pro stays 2.5 days while 2018 watch stays 4 days

I'm not upgrading because of the bezel
Fully charged after your use it still says 4 days 4 hours
It’s an easy decision pro for me .
Longer battery life and better case are worth the extra $$$.
Although I’ll wait a month or 2 for sales to start .
Please make a video on the built in apps for working out. All videos are about running. I need the watch for weight lifting, etc.
Which one is worth the money? Watch 5 pro LTE or Watch 5 pro bluetooth/Wi-Fi?
Managed to get the watch 5 pro with a solid student discount for 2500 sek which is 225 usd. Can't complain for that price! Great review Mike! 👏
I’ve fought myself hard over this Question.
As an alpha male that oozes big dick energy it was no contest for me simply because of the battery life but if you don't mind charging every night or at most 2 nights then the regular will save you money
Lol I am now in the same boat dunno which to get
@@marm7335 don't get pro
It's not worth it at this point in a month the new watch comes out
@@marm7335 I have every classic/pro and bought my first regular 44 mm watch 5 and its great just as good since neither had a bezel
Did you purchase that navy blue watch band separately? I don't see any on the Samsung website.
Hi Mike, great video as always. Very thorough. I currently have the Watch 3 and I am looking for an upgrade. I also have the Pixel 6 Pro and was wanting your opinion if I should wait for the Pixel Watch or get the Watch 5 Pro?
I have a question, does the watch 5 have a smaller black bezel around the display (normal not the classic) than the watch 4?
Fantastic review, best I've seen of this comparison. I was sold on watching the video after you summarized the target audience for each model in the intro.
Where can I get the blue watch band thats on the smart watch 5? See it says uled but can't find it online... Thanks!
Hmm I think I'll wait for now until they unveil the new phones in February. Maybe there will be an updatet classic.
Thanks for de vídeo. A question. Where did you get that the sapphire of one is 24 GPa and the other is 29 GPa? I didn't find it anywhere else.
Hi, can you tell me please what navy band it is that you have on watch 5 please. Trying to find it. Thanka
I just got the Galaxy 5! I was going for the 5 Pro but once I tried it on it was very bulky and basically uncomfortable for me.
Great review! What's the size of the display on the 40mm?
1.2"
What watch you end up getting,?
I'm currently stuck between both options also...
Does the 5 pro have the same issue the watch 4 classic has..where it overheats/gets hot a lot and has to go into cooling down mode?
I guess this is the first product test I´ve seen ever with a damaged product. Kind of funny but realistic. Looks like a real test.
So would the watch 5 and watch 5 pro golf edition be the same as these two except the golf edition gets the caddie app for life. ?
If it wasn’t for the steep discount I probably would have stuck with my watch 4. But $14.24 for the 5 pro….couldn’t pass that up. Full price I would probably pass it up
wait u got that for $14? thats a goddamn steal man
How did you get it for that amount?
@@sahilagarwal6601 i think he meant monthly payments
@@Visualhead_Spacer i dont know
Does it over heat? I notice when I had the watch active2 it would overheat when I played music and had timer going or when I would play music in the shower on waterproof mode
Better get watch 4 , doing almost same thing at more than half price
Except the battery socks idiot I'm just got the watch 5 pro I'm excited
Watch 4 battery life is horrible
I have a watch 4 classic and I have to admit I wish I skipped it. Horrible battery life along with other issues
@@jessicablades5871 Maybe you are getting 3-4 days of battery life with Bluetooth calling and more than 5 days on standby mode. Right!!!
@Madhav Pandya lol I was lucky if I got 3 hours of battery with out even using it
I'm getting BT version; I like to be free from constant texts etc on a lovely dig walk. Thank you so much for explaining concisely.
which strap color/type are you using exactly for the regular watch 5??
We noticed the paint is already scuffed off the top of the Watch 5 you are wearing, and it seems you haven't worn it very long. Could you please address that? You mention it, but how easily did it happen?
Definitely going to get either the watch 5 or watch 5 pro, as I use the S22 Ultra as my phone. Was an iPhone 12 Pro user and series 6 watch, changed my provider for work and personal use.
Thanks for the video, enjoyed it and I will decide but if anyone can help I’d be grateful. 🙏
I'm still over here using the gear S2 and I'm just now trying to decide whether to go with the watch 4 classic or the watch 5 pro.
Hello there, can you tell me if watch 4 classic will be a better buy than these watch 5 and 5 pro?
Saw a review that the sensors on the new watches are more reliable because the fit to the wrist has changed.
Great comparison video 👍🏽 It's disappointing that the pro doesn't have more storage. I'm going from the S3 Frontier to the 5 pro only because I was given the 5 pro. My S3 is still going strong and I love it 😄
My 3 still works fine also.. I'm looking into getting the 5pro
And what? Dud you buy it?
@@koroboro Not yet.
Hi Mike, I love your videos btw. Keep up the great work. With the new iwatch and fitbits coming up. What do you think is the best allrounder on the market right now?
Hard to make the case for upgrade, a day or two more battery life isn't a big leap.
I have a protection case for the bezel made from silicon. Could lower the risk for scratches
I got the Watch 4 over the Pro because I like the look of the Watch 4 more
Great video, and as far as the durability I use a screen protector and a rugged sport watch band, so I never have issues with scratches.
Great review, Mike. I traded the GW4 (44mm) for the GW5P for the very reasons you presented in the video. I am keeping my GW4C for dressing up and church. Keep up the excellent work and be blessed.
Does the 5 lte still suck and overheat constantly? I sent 4 of the 4's back and gave up on samsung watches.
People often forget that you can charge your watch with your phone too. You just need to bring them close together and the watch will suck some battery from the phone (which can be charged quickly with a universal charger unlike the watch)
i didnt know this
0:30 did he just say appearance like the word experience appearience 🤣🤣
I need a gps for 8 hrs per day. Would a Galaxy 4 or 5 have a big enough battery for this?
Can you compare Galaxy watch Pro 5 versus Michael Kors Gen 6? I have the Galaxy 3 watch still and I like it very much. But I'd like to get matching watches for myself and my husband. I like the aesthetic of the Michael kors they don't sell just the band.
Is the watch 5/pro the newest version of the galaxy active 2?
does it have tennis tracker on the sports list??
Had the Watch 4 44mm, upgraded to the 5 Pro and its absolutely AMAZING!!! Battery last 3 days for me and i sleep with it all 3 nights! It's gorgeous and i highly recommend it!!
I have Watch 4 44 mm and I wouldn't touch the watch 5 pro. My battery life on my 4 is fantastic
Quick question i have the original galaxy watch so I guess the 1 , is it worth the upgrade ?
I believe the trade in is 75.00 for that
I've got the 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 Classic... and while I love the physical rotating bezel, the battery life is absolutely horrendous.
Samsung should make a regular model..a pro model.. and a classic model.. would make a nice thing to add a classic 5 for the rotating bezel
So like..3 differnt model if possible to appeal to the classic rotating bezel users...casual user..and sports user
Well that and the rotating bezel does look nice
Nice video explaining the difference. But aren't they coming out with the 6 by the end of July 26 /2023
i'm curious about "your" cpm. could you be a good sport and share it if you are comfortable; atleast average cpm across "your" channel.
From the looks of it , it seems that smartwatches no matter what brand it is just seems to not worth it anymore. Battery life, features, and so on just doesnt justify not even spending $280-$400 on a watch.
I'll keep my galaxy watch 4, now i have one ui 4.5 and clock faces from 5 series.
I'll wait till TMobile does the free pro with an added line. I'm still rocking a Bluetooth gear S3 frontier 😂
Can anyone address if the fall detection feature works well on this watch ?
Ty
Where did gou get the watch band?
Same bro, huawei gt3 looks miles better than gw5 pro.
I own an s22ultra tho
@@francescob.38 I owned a Huawei watch fit, that was performing perfectly paired to my Huawei Mate 20 x.
I switched to a new phone, and was unable to get it to work with my S21 Ultra.
I just got mine and just ordered a cover the protects the screen and the aluminum sides
For Americans, getting the Pro avoids you having to pronounce the word aluminium. :)
😂
nah if it is true sapphire glass, scratching can happen but not on the glass itself.
You've become my go-to for all my tech purchase reviews. Thank you sir
I wish the Huwaei Watch GT 3 Pro could use Wear OS.......now THAT'S a beautiful smartwatch, with killer battery life to boot.
Can you explain how you damaged your Watch 5?
I wanted to know how likely that I will be damaging my watch...
I found the Watch 5 Bluetooth 44mm for 184$ US, is it worth it?? I've never had a "smartwatch", just an Amazfit band 5 that died last week :(
I got the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 bundled with my contact. Tip... Turn the vibration off. That drains the battery and makes it last 12h.
Especially tricky when you add the variable then Galaxy 4 watch with the same chip and the rotating bezel is now Dirt Cheap on the resale Market
I may have to get the pro just for the battery life. I'm not a big exercise buff but I'm horrible about charging accessories
Ok as long as the Classic is an ongoing model, I'll stick to it.
what kind of band is on the pro in this video? anyone?
I just upgrade from galaxy watch (first version 2018) to watch 5 pro. The 2018 battery stays longer than 5 pro.
The 5 pro stays 2.5 days while 2018 watch stays 4 days
