Both will get you to places, but most people would prefer a car with AC and a radio, but are also willing to pay for gas, insurance, and maintenance. Just my 2 cents. I agree, but I need to upgrade from an Active 2 to 5, so I think that is worth it. For a start, last time I bought the BT only version, which I really regret. It means I have to carry my smartphone around with me. Secondly as much as I prefer Tizen programmatically, Samsung has basically dumped it, so now I need to refocus writing small apps for Wear OS 3. @@CaptainHookhatesBooks Yes, with the wireless/BT version you have to be in range of your router, or have your phone near enough for BT. With the LTE version, you only need the watch, although you can still connect to your phone via BT to set up your watch using a bigger screen. I have a LTE watch now and a contract plan with EE in the UK. PAYG is not possible. The watch has its own phone number for its data plan and the phone has it's own number for data, calls, texts. The watch uses the phones number for calls and texts, so the phone can not be powered off, even if it is miles away.

My only complaint with the galaxy watch is how heavily tied the watch is with a Samsung smartphone. As if, it is proprietary to have one. Some features are lock and only exclusive to samsung's smartphone user and to some regions also.

I have a Galaxy Watch 4, but I am not looking to upgrade. Instead, I was interested in the differences because my wife has decided to buy a watch "Like yours". Although both are available new, there is always a trickle of unwanted new or new condition watches on Trademe. (New Zealand's own equivalent of Ebay). After watching your useful video, she has just bought an unwanted, unopened Watch 5 for below half the price of a Watch 4. Many thanks. 👍 😃

Sleep coaching works on the watch 4 too.
The specs are literally, exactly the same, so software support should be identical.
The bio active sensor is the same, it just sticks out more so you should have a tighter fit and better readings. Funnily enough, the quantified scientist found the watch 4 more accurate lol.
And the temp sensor is useless because it can't account for and compensate for environmental temp like apple. Why'd you think samsung can't get it working properly already.

Galaxy watches dont perform well unless its paired to a high end samsung phone! I've paired my watch4 with a OnePlus 8, but there are missing features like Camera Remote ( wont work in any phone unless its a new S / Note series ).
Major issue is with my work profile notifications. The main use for my watch was to not miss messages from work. but since I'm not using a samsung phone, I cant get the work profile notifications in my watch.
Most reviewers get the phone & watch together to test the devices. and they miss these things.
